as a patreon reward I will read your least favorite person's handmade custom tabletop RPG homebrew and ask them why they didn't just run it in 5e instead

I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

At last, a Freedomlander. Too many Canadians already.
Guess that's enough people to start helming questions then.

What nation do y'all wanna citizenship in?
Do you have any particular ideas for how characters would know each other out-of-game?
Got any character concepts you're leaning towards or set on?

Also, it's human only, but certain Classes, curses, or other stuff will change your race.

I'm a big fan of Horogi, but either Velonta or Erid would be my second choice.

In terms of how our characters know each other, the college gaming club sounds workable, or maybe a group of former high school friends deciding to play the game to stay in touch years after they graduated.

For concepts, I wanna be a friggin' necromancer. Undead spam, bone spikes, shadow magic, the works. But mostly minion spam backed up by occasional direct spell support.
Interested in joining.

Also hi Rodey.
"Shit!" Dragoon hissed as the aftereffects of the Arts droids' attack came crashing down towards her. She barely dove out of the way in time to avoid a slab of stone falling down on her, an armored droid being crushed in her place. The Lung spearwoman came up in a roll, only narrowly avoiding the second droid's follow-up as it revealed some sort of pile bunker attachment weapon.

God damn. These things were actually pretty serious for a Vanguard like her. Too slow to present much of a challenge to avoid, but offense against these was another problem entirely. Dragoon could dip, duck, and dodge as much as she wanted, but she didn't have enough force to pierce through the armor without lining up her strike perfectly.

Fortunately, whatever this Retra newcomer was doing slowed the remaining armored unit down perfectly enough for Dragoon to attempt such a strike. As the armored drone staggered towards her, Dragoon leveled her spear, breathing deeply before lunging forward in a single strike, aimed for where the armor plating was least thick: the droid's neck.
Vlad's warning came just in time for Dragoon to put up with the sensation of her body locking up, rather than fighting against it. The moment she was free, though, her eyes widened in surprise and delight as she could literally feel her body moving faster. With Vlad's overclocking boost, Dragoon easily slipped out of range of the armored droids, turning to nod her thanks to Vlad as she landed from her backwards leap, twirling her spear back into an offensive stance.

In all honesty, she could already tell that the armored droids would be a bitch to deal with, especially for a Vanguard like her. No, her best bet was to keep massacring the normal infantry and leave the big guys to the heavy hitters. With that in mind, Dragoon leapt back into the fray, nimbly keeping out of the armored droids' reach as she lunged at an infantry android, thrusting into its body several times over until the thing's frame slumped, deactivated. Her currently-enhanced body reacted quickly to another droid's oncoming attack, raising her spear's reinforced haft to parry its blow. She raised her weapon in response, smashing the haft into the droid's head to knock it back before whirling her spear around and plunging its tip into her opponent's head.

With yet two more foes dispatched, Dragoon tucked and rolled out of the way of the blow of an armored unit that had finally caught up with her. She queued her comms as she came up out of the roll, now on the defensive as she parried and dodged the strikes of two armored droids at once.

"Oi, occupied with armored units up here! Requesting anti-armor support!"
Dragoon grinned as she hit the ground running. Damn, but that was a useful ability to have. Almost like paratrooping, but without the pain in the ass of actually dealing with the drop. She jogged forward, regrouping with the rest of the team as they advanced. As they came across the enemy opposition, Dragoon looked over them, only taking a moment to analyze their force composition.

"Twenty standard infantry, five heavies, and two in the back, probably Caster-types. Not bad to start with." Her grin was bearing teeth now as she extended her spear all the way out. She gave Feral a brief nod as the girl declared her intent to ambush the Caster-types. Good call, really. Still, Dragoon had her own job to do. She hefted her spear up and followed Vlad in his charge, aiming to take advantage of any openings his first strike created.

And so she did. Dragoon's charge had her dash full-tilt into the gap in the android line Vlad had created, her spear going straight through the first android in her path. She slammed it into the ground, using the pole as leverage to leap up and kick another infantry android in the head before ripping her weapon back out, the android parts falling off it as she did so. A twirl of her weapon had her slamming the butt of it into one of the heavy fighters, forcing it to stumble back as she whirled back around, slashing with the spear's blade and outright decapitating another infantry-type.

"Woo! Now we're having some fun!" Dragoon yelled cheerfully, brandishing her spear as she dashed back into the fray.
Well, they were getting somewhere with this. At least Rodendramon was...calm? More like a damn robot, but at this point, beggars couldn’t be choosers. If he could tell friend from foe, good enough.

“Alright, he’s in the loop.” Parasimon was the first one to talk after Rodendramon ‘clarified’ his situation. He did keep his shield engaged, though, pre-empting any sudden turns in the Digimon’s still-suspicious behaviour. “That makes four of us here, and Examon and Dorugoramon can’t be too far off. I think I can sense them getting closer.”

“About time,” BanchoLeomon grumbled. “We’re losing minutes here. Every second we waste regrouping is another that the thing up there is taking to charge up. Now, we should-”

“Right, I can sense something off in this direction. You’re doing a great job, I’ll be right back with a great job of my own, thanks bye!” Beelzemon called from down below, already running off to who knew where.

“Wait, don’t just run off!” Parasimon yelled, quickly disengaging his shield in the heat of the moment to try and stop Beelzemon from what appeared to be making a break for it. But as the orange light glimmered back into existence, it was already too late. The Demon Lord had gotten too far for Parasimon to stop while still keeping his shield shaped so that he and BanchoLeomon had a margin for error with Rodendramon.

“...God damn it.” BanchoLeomon sighed, raising one hand to pinch his brow. “As much as I’d rather not he get himself killed again, there’s no point chasing after him right now. You can fly, can’t you? Mind getting Examon and Dorugoramon? I’ll keep an eye on this one here.” He grunted to Parasimon, jerking a finger back in Rodendramon’s direction.

“Give me one moment.” Pulling himself away from glowering off into the distance, Parasimon straightened up and expanded his own senses, pushing past the overwhelming earthy musk of Rodendramon and the simmering frustration of BanchoLeomon as so to better gauge the positions of Examon and Dorugoramon. Before, he’d felt the two’s presence as a mere blip on his psychic radar, an indication of their increasing proximity rather than an accurate placement of their position. But as he pushed further outwards, something unusual emerged.

“Right. I said they were getting closer, but that may not be the full truth.” He stopped, thinking how best to phrase the suggestion he was about to make. It wasn’t as if he didn’t trust BanchoLeomon to keep composed or, if he was being fully honest, care enough about the Digimon’s blood pressure to care about saying anything to worsen his mood. They both knew where they were at this point. But in the interests of not following Beelzemon’s example…

“I felt them getting closer, but now I can feel them moving away.” A pause. He looked up over the top of the building, the crystals along his back humming as he rose to gain a better vantage point. The fog was too thick to see far, but with his senses expended this far, he could tell that they were getting closer to the water. “They must have made it back to the bay. Examon’s not... well, he’s not completely out of his depth, unlike a few others of you seem to be, so let’s make an educated guess and assume he and Dorugoramon are sticking close to the water’s edge to keep track of their position.”

“You go after them, then. Keep an eye on Beelzemon while you’re at it. Make sure he doesn’t do something stupid again.” He paused, thinking about that statement for a second. “Again.” BanchoLeomon shook his head. “Since the big rat’s not shooting at me yet, I’ll keep an eye on him for now, try to figure out what’s going on.”

“Alright, if we’re in agreement.” What Parasimon didn’t mention was that, as he’d opened up his mind to place the two dragons, he’d sensed what- or rather, who- had snatched Beelzemon’s attention away. BanchoLeomon would be able to figure out what Beelzemon’s motives were, but he could do without his own interest in Dynasmon being open knowledge until the time came to make his play. “Perhaps if I give you two some space, he may calm down by himself. Whatever the situation is between you two, I doubt he’s got as much of a reason to hold a grudge as with me.”

Given the lack of cultural context, BanchoLeomon resisted making the quip that Lucas had called Jordan a drug dealer just this morning, and simply nodded, turning back to Rodendramon as Parasimon headed off.

“So. What happened to you anyway? We all got hit by that...illusion nonsense. Jordan still in there? This some sort of safe mode? Factory reset?”
She would have preferred something with meat, but Western pastries and coffee suited her just fine. A danish and coffee with cream and no sugar perked Dragoon right up, and she looked at the pod she'd be dumped in with mild interest. Some sort of VR brain tech, huh? Shit, they never had anything like this in the military. The perks of private sector work were looking better and better by the minute. Maybe they'd even have an MRE that wasn't dog food.

As they materialized in the simulation, Dragoon hefted her spear onto her shoulders, glancing around and taking stock of the situation. Asset protection in an urban environment? Fine by her. If whoever was running this simulation had a brain, there'd be enemies coming out of the woodwork at every bad angle possible as they made their way through it. As the rest began to strategize, the Lung woman took her options into consideration, only piping up when her opinion was asked.

"Eh? I'm mobile enough to scout, yeah. Could probably make a few hops up top. Old man's got the right idea, too. Straight up the center'd be suicide, and going around the outskirts's got too many chances for us to get made. I'd say get a scouting run first, see what the OpFor's like, then go from there."
Dragoon let out an awkward chuckle at Vlad's questioning, internally alarmed. Shit. She really should have thought this out better. Hopefully, as long as she played it off, he wouldn't dig deeper. This really wasn't a conversation she wanted to have in a first meeting.

"Yeah, well, it was a bitch and a half. Had to train up my replacement in the squad first." There. Nothing he could actually confirm for himself. Now hopefully he wouldn't think too hard about it.

Though the amount of rookies in the prospective squad was intriguing. She wouldn't have thought they'd actually accept this many people with relatively little experience. Retra's recruitment selection must have been less stringent than she thought.

The subsequent turbulence was an absolute bitch, even for a veteran operator, but the view of the airship afterwards was spectacular enough to almost make up for it. Almost. Still, she hoped it was as impressive on the inside as it was on the outside. When the order to undock came, Dragoon did so gladly, taking only a backpack and her spear from the cargo compartment. After being military for literally all of her adult life so far, it came as little surprise she didn't have many personal effects. Whatever she actually needed, she could probably order online after her first paycheck came in.

The mention of food as they exited the plane was more than appealing, though. She'd only packed a couple Lungmen Guard-issue MREs in her pack for emergencies. And god damn, did she mean emergencies. Those things were indescribably bad and an insult to Lungmen cuisine in general.

"Same for me," Dragoon piped up after Thrones had spoken. "And coffee'd be great."
