as a patreon reward I will read your least favorite person's handmade custom tabletop RPG homebrew and ask them why they didn't just run it in 5e instead

I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

Amulak al Acturus (Stanislaw)

Stanislaw read over his two available spells briefly, committing their effects to memory and how he could best use them. It wasn't that complex yet, but Mana Control would likely be something very useful for the future if it applied to all spells. In the meantime, it seemed the group had started walking around, so he quickly joined up with them, taking up a position somewhere in the middle. Not in front to tank hits, and not too far in back to get screwed if they were ambushed from behind.

The kappas had him tilting his head, and he briefly looked them over before preparing for battle.

"Huh. These things are, uh...how you say? Manlet." He snickered, raising a hand as he nodded at both Lew and Mags.

"Okay, you got it. Hopefully we nuke second one down before he kick our shit in melee, yes?" Amulak said, starting the process to cast a spell as he waved his outstretched hand. A three word chant, eh? Well, as long as he could mix it up every now and then, he might as well make up some random bullshit for the moment until he figured out some flavorful or funny chants.

...Ah, screw it. Might as well just curse in Polish. Not like anyone here spoke the language, anyway.

"Pieprzyć twoją matkę!" He cried out, not bothering with Mana Control for the moment as he shot a Magic Bolt at the kappa he was designated to.

Well...he couldn't exactly fault their motivations. If nothing else, trying to cheese out requirements for a class was exactly something he'd do if he could figure out what the hell he needed specifically for Necromancer, beyond what the game already told him. Still, getting punched wasn't exactly something he wanted any part in, so...

"I wish you good luck in going against spirit of game and cheesing class unlock early. Think I will explore and head off in...that direction." He pointed the way Raymond and Klein had already left towards. "West gate, I believe. Can find me there or beyond that way once you finished here."

With that said, he sauntered off in that direction as well, finally enjoying being able to walk without too much exertion.

Eventually, he caught up to the big guy that had been part of that initial altercation, raising a hand in greeting.

"Oi, big man! You are going same way I am, I see. If you are leveling, would you like party member? Better than standing around laughing at people being punched, yes?"

Amulak's eyes passed over the exchange between Ames and the old man, his gaze narrowing as he inspected the amulet that passed into her hands. +5 to stats with a ??? effect added, huh? Well, well, well. Seemed it wasn't a scam after all. Well, maybe. That mystery effect was concerning. But not concerning enough for him to pass up the chance to fucking breathe normally again.

"Amulak take one, then. Thank you for business." He said, handing over the requisite twenty silver and immediately equipping the amulet onto his person as soon as he received it. All of a sudden, the exhausted feeling he had finally dissipated, allowing him to feel like a real human again.

"Ah...much better. Breathe properly now without looking like idiot." He sighed in relief. The dark-haired man glanced over at the absolutely massive gigachad that had just showed up next to them before shrugging. "Eh. We fuck up character creation. Minmax too hard. Buy amulet to fix stats for now, yeah?

Amulak paused at that, glancing around. Hmm...weren't they missing one? Stanislaw did recall there had been at least one more in the Discord group who'd expressed interest in playing this game. Where was the guy that was super hardcore? Before he could muse on this further, he was broken out of his thoughts by Mags literally shoving Ames into someone. Oh god damn it, what the hell was she doing?

"What fuck are you doing?" Amulak stepped up calmly, still speaking in his comedically exaggerated Slavic accent. "We start fight in middle of town now? Sounds like shit idea. Anything bigger than shove, we probably get guards on our ass, no?"
"A Kobayashi Maru? Really?" Dragoon grinned, taking it all good-naturedly as she scratched the back of her head. "Well, that's one way to grade your applicants, I guess. Kinda sucks we didn't get to the part where we steadily got overwhelmed, then." She chirped, taking the lanyard she was given and putting it around her neck.

Well, she'd made it. At least this promised to be more interesting than the LDF. Hopefully. After everything that had happened there, this was pretty much one of her last shots to do the only thing she was good at for a living under decent conditions. Couldn't afford to screw this one up.

Hell, at least the food should be better than the canteens she was used to, to say nothing of the dogshit MREs the LDF passed off as field rations. And speaking of food...

Dragoon perked up, waving towards Vlad. "Yeah, I could use some grub myself. Was wanting to see how good the chow halls were in this joint. Anyone else wanna come along? Celebratory 'we did it' meal and all that."

The old man had said the magic words. Stat boost. Figurative words, at least. He was probably putting words in the NPC's mouth. But the intent was there. The mention of a discount was even better, though they'd probably have to coordinate it. Though...it would probably do to preview the goods first. Maybe if there was some kind of shop interface? As good as the deal sounded, he didn't want to lose all his silver buying the talisman for the wrong stat.

"So...old man? Can we see merchandise before we buy, please? I want to verify you are as good as you claim, yes?" Amulak continued in a jovial tone, before murmuring aside to the rest of the group. "Has anyone worked out how shop interface works? Or equipment preview? I want to make sure annoying shit from earlier wasn't trolling us."

God damn, but were this game's graphics insane. The fact that everything was rendered seamlessly in such high quality, with this many players in the zone was nothing short of amazing compared to the MMOs of his childhood and early teenage years. Hell, marveling at the sights around him nearly took his mind off the sheer fucking exhaustion he was feeling from just walking around.

Still, he managed to nod and reply to Ari's question.

"I do not see why not. At least I very much want to try to compete. Maybe here I not get completely shit on by sixteen-year old Korean boy." Amulak said dryly, his mind briefly flashing back to the match that had made him realize he should call it quits for his pro gaming career. Oh, well. He'd had a good run of it and lasted longer than some others in the pro circuit. Stanislaw supposed he really shouldn't complain, considering if he continued to make the money he'd earned then work for him now, he'd be pretty much set for life.

The old man was...interesting. Hell, Stanislaw was half convinced that this was just a very immersive way to acquire their talismans. The game seemed to be all about immersion and flavor, so he wouldn't put it past the devs to pull something like this. Would've helped if the little shit from earlier had given better instructions, but Stanislaw supposed that was really all just part of the experience. You lost something in a MMO when you just followed a guide a hundred percent of the way without figuring some things out for yourself.

"Hmm...perhaps I give you twenty silver. What will you give Amulak in return?" He questioned, attempting to fish for more information from this NPC.
Dragoon slowly opened her eyes, fighting the urge to yawn for some reason. She blinked as she beheld the real world once again, realizing at least some of what had happened before Diver and the techs started explaining. Well, shit. Hopefully they didn't screw up anything that Retra would take out of their paychecks. She'd hate to have her first payday be marred with something like that. A girl had crap to buy, damn it.

"Huh. So we bricked it. Whoops." Dragoon said simply as she pulled herself out of the pod, rubbing out a crick in her neck from being stuck in that position for some time. "So...what now? You guys think the bosses're going to want us to go back in without slamming a glitch in the matrix this time, or have they seen enough? Because from where I'm standing, I think I've got a good enough handle on the squad now. We don't have any screwups yet, not that I can note, at least. Basically a thumbs up from me."

She gave Thrones a look of concern as her...condition acted up, but Vlad seemed to have things well in hand already. At least, that's what she told herself. Years of cultural conditioning taught her to keep her distance, even if she justified it with leaving things up to an actual medical expert.

"Really though, even if the wargame was designed for only testing infantry combat skills, it ain't exactly outside of the special ops playbook to hijack enemy vehicles and weaponry. How bad were you guys rushed for time on this thing?" She questioned the techs, legitimately curious.

Well. This was an interesting list of classes. Necromancer was really the one he was gunning for, just off aesthetic alone. Though they all seemed to have some odd requirements, especially for Low-Rank classes. Killing something without inflicting what the game considered to be heavy damage would be a challenge, assuming he didn't just ask around how to get it done. And being struck by lightning was just odd. Though it wasn't as bad as, say, Animist's or Shaman's requirements. Animist would probably be doable straight off the bat if he pumped some SP and HP to go with his MP, but he'd definitely need to look into this game's death penalty first. Shaman was just odd, and based off its stat spread, probably not intended for his build.

As he was spoken to, Amulak chuckled at Calace's reaction before giving his response.

"As much as I trust you to not fuck us in ass and run off with money, Ames, I am bit stir-crazy game. We just started this game, yes? I want to see sights for myself, probably same as Calace. Sorry if we slow you down." A glance to the side revealed Lew had already ran off on his own, though. With a sigh, he shook his head, starting to make the effort of dragging his body along to follow Ames and Calace.

"Monster girl coomer has already fucked off on his own, I see. We can probably whisper him or some shit to meet up later."
