as a patreon reward I will read your least favorite person's handmade custom tabletop RPG homebrew and ask them why they didn't just run it in 5e instead

I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

Made some edits to my sheet, largely just cleaning up some sections and actually specifying what guns are being carried.
I realize this puts us up to three ex-military guys, but it was honestly the easiest way I figured someone could be up to par to do Payday heists/shadowruns.

As a big fan of both Payday and Shadowrun, I'm very interested. Will start working on a sheet.

For a moment, Jin-Sun considered the merits of showing up to DIHOW in disguise. And then immediately shelved that idea, given how none of the rest of them were incognito. It wasn't worth burning a potential future identity to hide behind just for a few minutes of peace and quiet. Not that it'd work either, considering people would wonder who the literal who hanging out with the remainder of the Five was.

That didn't mean he didn't arrive stealthily, though. He went through most of the commute under a hologram disguise before stepping into a public restroom inside the tower as he neared the house of waffles. The stall door locked behind him, and he disengaged the Illusion Drive and activated his cloak instead, making the rest of the walk completely invisible.

He only bothered to uncloak when he found the table the others were at, sliding into the first available seat before disengaging his stealth.

"Yo. Thanks for saving me a spot." He gave a jaunty wave, pulling his phone out to pass the time, though not without glancing incredulously out the window at the sign of Kyouko modeling. Seriously, what the hell was she wearing? Was that what high schoolers were into these days? Christ...

When the waitress came, Jin-Sun spoke up right after Tian-Gui, already having decided on his order.

"Yeah, lemme get uhhh...an orange juice and the chicken and waffles, with the chicken in the extra spicy buffalo sauce, please. Oh, and another PGR skin code too, if you've got any left." He side-eyed Tian-Gui once his order was done.

"You never mentioned you played too. Figured you for Jogomon Go exclusively. How's your pull luck with that last banner?"

...Why the hell were they here? Amulak had just been going with the flow of the rest of the group, but somehow that flow led them straight to the mobs they said they wouldn't kill for the snake lady. Not that he was opposed to more xp, but what was the point of coming here anyways with even less prospect of a reward? Who made this call?

Oh, well. Fuck it. Experience points were experience points.

"We focus fire one at time, or we burn them all down at once? Not sure what AoE rest of you have now." Amulak whispered in response to Raime and the rest of the group. "Can finally use necromancer shit now that we have corpses around, can probably draw some aggro off of us, yes?"

Annnnnd there it was. Lew befriended snake anthro NPCs. Of course. Didn't explain why he was being so weird about it, but Stanislaw assumed the fucker was just larping really hard. Or, well, since they were in-game, just RPing.

Raime's chat provided an alternate explanation. Sure, Lew/Lugh could be brainwashed. It was certainly a possibility. But in his own mind, it was equally as likely the dramatic little clown was just putting on a show. Ugh.

The whole matter with the adult tracks didn't help, either. Unbeknowst to Amulak, his thoughts mirrored Klein's. What the fuck were they still doing here? They had xp and loot to grind for, damn it.

Amulak: At this point, I don't give a fuck what we do as long as we get some kind of xp or loot to make our time out here worth it. Unlike Lew, I'm not here just for the snake tits.

"Incentive is sounding good, yes." Juxtaposed with the fact that he was entirely capable of using perfect English in text, it was looking more and more likely that Amulak's heavy dialect and diction was put upon purely for shits and giggles.

"We risk own behinds for your benefit, is only fair we receive some kind of commensurate reward, yes? No one in world ever do something for free, unless it for family."

"Sure, why not?" Jin-Sun shrugged, leaning back in his chair as he finished the last of his protein shake. "You're part of the crew, Mason, so don't worry about it. I'd be happy to meet your granddaughter."

He didn't have that many preparations to make without more detailed information, so a generalized loadout would have to do. And that wouldn't take particularly long at all. More than enough time to simply hang out and relax before the big mission. Damn, but did he miss that. After years of the whole..cyborg thing, the last time he'd gotten to just chill with the guys was probably back when he was just a PMC grunt. And before that was high school. Damn, but that was depressing. Back to the matter at hand.

"Karaoke and dinner sound good to me. Divey crap diner sounds even better, too. If we can't get the real deal in Shanhu, there's always Denny's International House of Waffles. I know everyone over the age of forty complains that it's worse than it was before the double buyout and triple merger, but it's still an option if we want a crappy diner."

Amulak just sighed again, his level of mald decreasing ever so slowly. On the bright side, at least there wasn't anything seriously wrong with his good buddy. On the still fucking annoying side...

"Lew, the last time we see you, you throw huge bitchfit and cut all contact. No shit we were somewhat concerned." The necromancer groused, shaking his head. "In any case, you good now? Looks like you calm. If yes, sure, I'm good to do quest. Finally, can get some xp out of this shitshow of session."

He swapped to party chat, reading it over briefly before chiming in with a message of his own.

[Amulak]: the fucker's fine
[Amulak]: I dunno whether to be saltier at the NPC for sending us on a literal nothingburger quest or at Lew for being like this in the first place
[Amulak]: the last time we spoke to this clown he raged out for a minute about something none of us knew anything about and went dark
[Amulak]: fuck me

Oh for fuck's sake. They come all this way, go through multiple maps of bullshit, nearly get wiped by a high level player that just happened to be feeling nice enough to not actually kick their shit in, all to just find Lew chilling? God. Fucking. Damn it.

Amulak audibly groaned, letting Raime go on his tirade while he buried his face into one palm. Motherfucker.

Once Raime's spiel was finished, Amulak stepped up, just looking moderately irritated at this point.

"What Raime said." He said in an equally low tone, consciously avoiding trying to alert anything in the area by shouting. "Even fucking computer think you behave in way that something was wrong. Swear to God, next time this shit happens, we not following up on NPC request. What the fuck are you even doing here anyway? Look to me like you just sitting here, jacking off in field doing nothing."

Jin-Sun leaned back in his chair, considering the options available to the Five at the moment. Body-modders and Luddite cults were an issue, to be sure, but both Yesterday's Promise and PSYBLOC seemed like greater threats. Given his history with the Thremonts, Yesterday's Promise would be his natural choice, but...

"As much as I'd like to say I want to tackle Yesterday's Promise, biased as I am, Runa's right. Magical situations are a bit out of our depth at the moment. Might have to expand this to the Final Six and find a magical specialist." He chuckled, folding his arms.

"I'm with Tian-Gui, though. PSYBLOC's a concern. I'm not saying the rest aren't potential threats at the moment, but that's all they are: potential. Nothing else here compares to ten thousand square miles just outright up and disappearing. In theory, we could split off into smaller groups to handle more of these threats at once, but I don't think that's such a good idea right now. Russia's a complete unknown, and going in blind with a reduced force could lead to disaster."
