Hey I was wondering about that bit about pilots hearing voices sometimes in their frame when their synchro is high. Is that an acknowledged thing? Or is it chalked up to stress or something?

Margot was feeling much better than one could expect for someone that survived a building collapse. She laid on the ground, trying to collect herself in the eerily quiet statidum. Sopping wet from the sudden downburst, she couldnt yet tell if any of the hurt she felt was tied to a bleeding wound. At least nothing felt broken, nor did she feel herself fading as if she were bleeding out.

A thick fog has fallen over the stadium. Rubble turned into vague outlines a mere meter away from her face. Yet she could feel the ground rumble wtih several hefty footsteps, several powerful ki users emerging from the fog. She crept out of the way, following Brooke's voice but not calling back. With her mask's thermal vision, she got a good idea of the size of the Oni before they started their speech.

She reached for her sword's hilt to steady it and keep it from dragging as she skulked off at an angle, only to find it empty. Resisting the urge to swear, she found that her dagger was still in place. She stumbled as the ogres pounded the ground, sounding like so much thunder. Barely missing some rebar, she took the chance to consult with her mask.

"Daichi of the Oni" didn't bring up anything on the very limited network connection left, the emergency services taking up most of the bandwidth left. Thankfully her mask was quite happy to point out the general direction of the sword's transponder. She sacrificed some stealth for speed as Jill stepped up to talk to Daichi. It was quite clear the Oni had no reservations in beating anyone down. Thankfully the fog hid her long enough to reach her sword. She turned towards the group of oni, crouching in the shadows to observe.

She only barely noticed Verga's attack in time, the bright light giving it off. She jumped out of the way, her clock singed by the passing blast. By the time she stood up again, it was clear that the attack had drawn the Oni's attention towards her.

After several tries junlian finally got something that was in the ballpark of what he wanted to express past his aggression filter.

“I am not your little pony”

While this statement was technically true, it did not mean that he was any less ready to give Cedar a piggy back ride.

You don't realize how much this little reference made my smile. Just the idea of a flat delivery made it perfect.

“Think you can check out that chest, Mr. Payne? I might just be paranoid on account of the long travel here, but I think you’d still best be careful.”

Normally I would’ve called in a bomb squad to make sure, but barring that I was the next best thing. “Sure thing cowboy, wouldn’t be the first time I’ve dealt with a suspicious package.” I hopped off the log, and walked over to the chest. While Maston seemed to be concerned with this being bait for bandits, I couldn’t help but notice just how out of place this thing was. It looked too pristine to have been sitting outside for any length of time. Despite the antiquated appearance, the wood looked dry and unwarped despite being on the damp ground. Even though it was large, and very heavy, he grass around and underneath it was still green. The ironwork was unpitted, and the entire thing fit together well enough it was clear that care had been put into the construction. Even more curious was that despite being in tall grass, there were no footprints, apart from ours. If it had been placed there by someone, they would have had to disturb the grass. It was if it had dropped from the sky.

“It looks like a normal chest to me, and that’s the odd part. But I don’t think it’s boobytrapped. I’m going to open it.” I knelt in front of the wooden container and worked my fingers under the lid. It creaked and groaned a little as I creaked and groaned from the effort. With the lid open, and without a poison dart in my face, I reached in to grab what was inside. The light was too dim, so I turned around and held it up to the light above my head. “What the hell…” I muttered.

Krista Reynolds

The technicians had given Krista the all clear sign about a minute before the last members of the squad docked. She’d disconnected from the battle feed once the ten-minute timer had been declared; she didn’t have the stomach to watch something she could not affect again. The bright light of the hangar snapped her out of her daze. Thankfully she’d gotten over the worst of her breakdown in time and the residual disorientation of going from four to two legs had faded enough that she could climb out of the Hou Yi with minimal help from the techs.

She emerged just in time to hear the announcement that the mission had succeeded, though she was too tired to register that fact. Shaking out the stiffness in her arms, she gave the mechanics and other support crew wide berth. She wanted nothing more than to go track down the cantina and see how much sugar and creamer one could fit into a cup of tea, but she found herself just walking over towards Roger in a bit of a daze. She stood next to the older boy and awkwardly standing next to him. “Hey there, uh, thanks for the help out there. Glad to see you made it back in one piece. ” She let a few moments pass before continuing. “Uh, What now? I want to go get something to drink, but I don’t know if we’re supposed to wait here or something.”

@Dragoknighte
Ah sorry for tuning out there for a bit. Looks like everyone's returning to base?
@DragoknighteCongrats you made the 2500th post on the RP!
Is it bad that I look at Phobophobia and want to make an FDR look-alike?
@HeySeuss Well, if this world's gun market is like ours, then I would imagine that variants of the AR-15/M-16/M-4 would be common. An assortment of minor rifles of various calibers would also be likely just from people's own supplies. As time went on I would expect to see more Soviet issue guns, or at least guns that took soviet calibers.
