Hmm, that is a tricky one!

It depends on the kind of shapeshifter- what your character would shift into, as the easiest way would be to invert stats (ie Sonar), rather than leave it poly (for lots of different animals / beings). The mechanic is likely to be set in the dispatch, but probably a simple inversion would be the easiest to work with, say, he might be able to go from one form to another, but later on, there can be modifiers / tweaks to that system as I'm actually building it for future shifts!

But if keen, post up a CS and I'm happy to review it and take a gander :)

Well, It was going to be vaguely based on a character or maybe just a straight rip. To keep stuff simple I was thinking maybe one for each category?
Something that would end up like 4/0/0/0/0? Or even toss a negative in there or some such.
So,I did want to pitch an idea for a certain kind of shapeshifter. Should I have a stat layout for each form, or just leave that up in the air?

The actualy mechanic of it I was thinking could just be a wheel spin maybe, or set by the dispatch.
The Iron Dragon

Name: Catherine Long
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Family: Husband
Appearance:
Daily

Hero

Superpower: Dragon Soul - To be one with the dragon of the soul is to be one of Power and unbound savagery. Eastern, Western, Mythic or real, all are beasts at their inception. First and foremost, strength is their prerogative. To weather blows like a mountain or strike forth with power befitting a storm. To be draconic is to not just be fearsome, it is to be a natural disaster.
Second is the control of elements, foremost being fire. After all, they are not drakes who spew mere ignited gas. They are fire, and all heat follows their command.

Yet one must always be wary, for the dragon is not infallible. Greed, rage, arrogance, all are marks of a dragon and those who fall too deep shall find that their ironclad scales are not impenetrable. After all, it is a story told a thousandfold of the great beast who slept in piles of gold and found their armor turned as soft as that metal, waiting for a single arrow or spear to peirce through and inevitably find their heart.

Skills:

  • Paperwork
  • Grilling
  • Spicy Food Tolerance
  • Karaoke
  • Dice Games

Equipment: Armor and Weapons manifested from the flames of her soul.

Personality: Despite the inherent volatility of her soul, the woman known as Catherine is a rather stoic and put together person. Working a simple office job that pays well, and having a rather simple life. Deep beneath a frigid demeanor still lies the fuel for things to burn, and not always in the most controlled manners.

Biography: Young Life was strange for Catherine. She was home schooled by an aunt with too many degrees and not enough job prospects, and was rather isolated.

Teenage and young adulthood followed rather closely by. She went by herself and found a decent office job and worked there unassuming to many.

Even marriage was a subdued affair. The love was there, and it ran deep, but it was not…easily expressed. Not that it bothered William, whose brutish nature was expressive enough for both of them. The stark contrast is more than enough to shock people.

Perhaps it was the sense that pulled her so deeply into comfort, to be content with a solid income, a good house, and a spouse who couldn't be brought down. That was until…

In truth, who could have seen it coming? In a world of villains, heroes, and powers strange and mundane, the average person still is lulled into thinking none of it will affect them.

An average day, a rare dinner at a diner down the road. Greasy food and pool tables, wide windows yet dark in the evening light, a place that accepts bikers and families.

Who would've expected that little neighborhood to be ground zero of Kaiju emergence? Not the biggest or the strongest one out there, but…

It matters little when its very steps lead to the building around them crumbling, to see her husband trapped under bricks and lumber.

To the woman known as Catherine, all she can remember of that day was panic and all consuming heat. And all that would remain of that beast, that neighborhood, the sky, was orange flames and black smoke.

Then in the center a woman cradling a man, bruised, confused, and alive.

That day onwards, the distant embers of her soul sparked into something more.

Relationships: (Optional, discuss this with other players!)

That's an interesting angle, I just wouldn't want it to mean that every villain would have to taunt her for it to be of use (not that I expect it to be uniform), since that would limit writing possibilities. I think if she can be damaged outside of her "ragebaited status" it should be fine (e.g. increased endurance compared to a normal human but not invincible), so go ahead and post the CS in the characters tab.

Yeah, I sort of had the idea of a sort of ramping scale to her. Where she is rather normal then super human then draconic and such, with the more power being almost more berserkerish in concept.
@Redking0380 I appreciate you making those edits! To clarify, the weakness blurb means that if she gets too unfocused, she becomes weaker? It could just be me, but I found the phrasing to

Yeah, pretty much. The more you ragebait her the more vulnerable she becomes.

ANywys, I did go forth and change it up to hopefully fit more in line
Fukushu Haru

Such calm tones were unbecoming of the older woman. Not enough vitriol, not enough spit and cursing the world and those in it. It would make sense that this was not her. Fukushus mind needed a guide, and there was none better than her grandmother. Yet, the image of a guide is centered in kindness.

A contradiction for the old bat, as one could imagine. Or, as she had imagined.

That sensation of uncertainty, of water in the air and air in the salt. Things that no sea should feel. This was one in name only, and any focus made that clear. To stare at the sun is to stare at darkness, to watch the waves is to see them stagnant, to feel the sway of the boat is to feel the disconnect of boards from the hull. All yet further muddled by these…focal points.

Ropes, Harpoon, bait, the ship. Yet nothing felt…right.

No, felt…complete. No simple icon called for her, resonated. The ropes bound her soul but lashed her sails, the Harpoon promised hunts and blood but blindness, the bait drew but provided no solutions, and the ship…Was nothing without cargo, tools, or crew.

Then the sea itself was…endless. Distant horizons that promise adventure but no end, no goal. The depths promised great foes but no growth, endless battles as one pulls a net to reveal rotted carcasses.

Yet one does not reach the sea by having a weak mind, one is not the descendent of Ahab Herman and taught by such a woman and not learned the sea, one does not spend a year out to sea and not embrace it.

She smells a storm in the air as lightning cracks. A smile, no that's too positive, a show of gritted teeth splits her face wide.

“Thats more like it!” A scream unleashed alongside a deluge of rain, waves rise and fall easily triple the height of the boat's mast. This was what it meant to sail seas, what it meant to be a sailor! To have the skies spit in your face and slug it out with every knot, every league taken. For it to feel like one is drowning on the air itself and not know what the horizon brings.

Instinct guided her hands. One snatched a length of rope, orange like her hair, one snatched a Harpoon of jagged edifice. The blood of Haru slicked the metal as her foot found the ship's bow. A sea once black and blue has turned frothy and red, things wailed from the depths with siren calls. The ever so familiar sensation of blindness overtook her, even as the sparse light brightened with rapid strikes of the skies fury. Blackness pushed back solely to show the ever-distance mass of something leviathan breaching the roiling surface, its keening call deafening.

“Forward! Go forth into a maw of dread and cast aside the sea of ignorance! Show it this is no newspaper boat but a vessel of mine design that shall see this through!” A metallic point is stabbed forth, directing the ship towards that goal, towards the pallid beast that once more breaches and taunts her forth.
Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

@Redking0380 I like the CS! Very fun concept, and married PCs are rare in my experience so that presents some opportunities for different writing. The one thing I would add is a weakness to the powers, since right now it appears she has super strength, speed and control of fire without any drawbacks. I'd also remove the super speed bit, to give her room for growth.

Fair, fair. I actually forgot about that.
So I have risen, as the sun does in the east.

@Eviledd1984 that works for me!

@Redking0380 I was terrible with both of those classes, so more power to you lol

Im over here rocket jumping and hitting cross map Crusade arrows lmao. I am also the twitchiest MF out there cause of spies.
Anyways, I think I shall draft up a character of my own here. Maybe take inspiration from something or another.
