I actually tend to like non-silent protagonists better, although naming is always a bonus. The whole "blank-slate-no-personality" thing is kind of... I mean, I can understand it in some games, like Pokemon and Harvest Moon, where it works really well, but in others, ahhhh. I think that the whole Persona series would be so much better if your protagonist actually had some semblence of a personality.

Yes, this too. This would be better, so much better. One of the reasons I liked DA2 more than the first one. Hawke actually spoke and had some semblance of a personality instead of just choosing dialogue options on a screen and not saying anything. Also the reason why i like ME so much.

Shep's an awesome character that you get to make and Shepards behavior/actions to things depends on how you've reacted in the past.

See, if all games followed Biowares example with how they made their main protaganist, it would be so much better.
just, the only thing though. Don't do what they did with ME3, though that was still mostly EA's fault, i think.

But yeah, non-silent protagonists are always a good thing, I think.

Games like Legend of Zelda, Harvest Moon, and games like that though work well.

Although, it'd be kinda funny for Link to finally have a voice xD

I get your character creator thingy, I usually agree. But with the Witcher... The story is just so good! It's better then anything I ever played, saw or read. Well... Maybe that's an exageration but definately in the top 3!

Skyrim I really didnt like because, in my opinion, the universe is boring. Skyrim had a beautiful world with the depth of a puddle. It was just boring imo.

You know...I liked DA2. I don't see why people hate it so much :/

I liked it better than the first one, even. Especially the combat. it was less...clunky, I think? yeah, it was more fluid. Especially the magic, I think. Still haven't played Inquisition, though, probably never will too. Don't wanna play through the first game again :/

Honestly? I think Skyrim/The elderscrolls series in general has one of the best, most original lores/background/story than any other game I've played. Morrowind, will always be my favorite Elder Scrolls game though. always. I still play it even though it's like, ten years old xD

And uuuuugh. ME3. I just...it was good, I liked it, right up until the end. But I don't want to debate that. But yeah, that Promethan DLC was just freakin' bullshit.

As for the Witcher...bleh. I don't like playing set roles/characters in things. Just makes it boring if I can't make my own story for my character.

Also, I do find playing men boring, though I believe that has been said before multiple times~ xD
if the main character was a woman, or I could chose, then yeah, i'd probably like it lots more.

The Witcher series are really great, although the original hasnt aged well. If you start with 2 then you will get a decent introduction in the story and you will experience one of the best RPGs... EVER! Almost every dialogue you make has an impact on the game and not in the Bioware way where the impact is either option A or B and some fancy shiny stuff. The differences are really big.

Although the Witcher 2 does not have an open world, it's more like the Fable games in that respect, it's still a really good game. The Witcher 3 will be an open world game and it will be massive!

Also, it looks so damn fancy!

And about my post... I am working on it but I just have problems with starting it... Eugh :|

My main beef is no character creation...so yeah. I like character creation in a game. At least lemme choose my own name and gender, damn it. At least, if the game is an 'RPG' anyways. For other games, it doesn't really matter so much, really.

If I can't do that, then the game is kinda already dead to me. But, eh, I'm probably in the minority on that. So whatever.

Also, bioware will always be one of my favorite developers. Mass Effect 2 was amazing, and will always be one of my favorite games.

But, back to the Witcher.
Yeah, sorry, the game just has never done it for me. Just can't get into it.

Maybe the professor could give him and the others one later due to him dropping a logic bomb and such by going through crap tons of legal work to get each of the characters one.

I'm still going to have my characters backstory going around from region to region. Mind if I give you some of the backstory to see if it might move you? It most likely won't, but I'm not one to argue once the gavel comes down.

Well, you can send it to me if you want, but no legendaries. That's something I'm going to have to say no too, no matter how 'good' or 'moving' it is.

If they want one, sure, they could get a pokedex later from the professor. Probably I'm guessing around maybe their fourth or third badge, should they go for the badges, or after they have sufficiently proven that they can handle themselves.

Abigail doesn't want a pokedex though. yeah, she doesn't care about stuff like that xP

I think I have an above average reason one that might work - Professors most likely aren't out in the field and are more likely held up in their lab since its safer. Problem is that they can't exactly observe their behavior up close, barring them from a specific amount of information. However, trainers who are more out in the field see the differentiating reactions of pokemon in their adverse state, therefore have the knowledge of how they are currently acting up. If combined with current pokemon entries they could also record what they saw and give them to a professor digitally.

But in reality, the only thing we really know about pokedexes is that you get up close, record the data that it analyzed, bam. In a nutshell, I'm saying the newbie trainers have the chance to figure out an answer to this solution since they will be the ones travelling through the wild, not pokemon assistants or professors. If they do that, my arguement goes down the drain. Also, even with the egg, it might not produce the correct results and therefore myriads of tests need to be made.

So yeah. Also, you may not like my characters backstory then as it involves an encounter with a specific pokemon when in the town that has the steel gym leader Byron or something other place, a sister ensnared in a never ending nightmare for years, and a fear of dark types along with a couple of other leading factors. If there are any problems here, please tell me and I'll work to reverse the problem.

Sorry, no. Legendaries can not be involved with characters backstories.

Why? I have things planned for most legendaries, that's why. Plus, Darkrai is a Sinnoh native pokemon, so I doubt he'd be in Johto.

In fact, we may be meeting one somewhat soon.

However, your statement about the pokedexes is true. Professors can't really get up close to pokemon since their labs are safer. Having a trainer observe these would be the best solution.

However, as the current world is, I'm not sure a trainer would have access to one, at least, not a new trainer. Unless it was given to him by...a more experienced trainer who didn't want it, (however, then he would have it illegally. Not too much of a problem, but he'd have to come up with an excuse for having it.) Or a professor went through several legal hoops to get the trainer one legally.

Writing the opposite gender gets a lot easier when you start seeing things like personality and shizz as unisex. Because there aren't truly any rules as to how a man or a woman should act.

"Uhm...well. Who says we make camp now? I could go for some food."

After receiving no reply, Abigial took a quick look around. Where....? She was utterly alone out here, save for Tyrian who was playing with a blade of grass. Did the others...get killed by the Onix?...

for a moment, her legs felt weak.

"Ugh...well if they got eaten that's their problem." She sighed, somewhat awkwardly as whatever remorse or grief she may have briefly felt vanishing in an instant. Time to make camp then. she'd get an early start tomorrow without those idiots slowing her down. First things first, get her tent up. She reached into her bag, pulling out a small one-person tent that was easily folded into her admittedly rather large purse. She sat laid her purse on the ground, getting to work on putting the tent up.

While she worked, Tyrian went about doing...whatever it was he normally did. He had lost interest in the blade of grass that he was playing with, and instead started snooping inside of her bag. After a few minutes, he found his way to one of the repels she had picked up earlier. Being the curious little pokemon that he was, he started gnawing on the can.

just as she finished putting up the tent, she heard a small cry as Tyrian scurried out of her bag, growling softly as he tried to get the taste of the repel off of his tongue.

"Oi, you little troublemaker! What are you doing now?" She asked, walking over to the small pokemon as he started gnawing on a blade of grass. "What did you do now?" She asked, causing the pokemon to growl towards her bag in response. With a sigh, she knelt down and looked inside, only to find most of her things were now covered in repel.

...well, at least wild pokemon wouldn't be taking her things now.

With a sigh she gave Tyrian a harsh look. "That'll teach you to mess with things." She grumbled, but didn't do anything else. Right...firewood. She needed firewood. It was starting to get cold, and she was still hungry...

having a fire type would be awesome right about now...ah well, she'd manage.

Sometime later, she had a nice little fire going in the small clearing she had found herself in. A water bottle sat empty on the ground next to her. It didn't take her very long to get a nice little meal cooked after getting the fire going. Tyrian was curled up in a little ball next to her, sleeping soundly. She should probably be getting to bed soon too, then. Not like there was much else she could do, but oddly enough she wasn't tired.

She sighed, throwing another stick into the fire. Oh well. She'd buy more at Cherrygrove once she got there tomorrow. She'd also need to find a new partner to travel with since the others seemed to have vanished. Shouldn't be a problem to find a decently competent looking trainer in Cherrygrove, unlike the idiots she was previously forced to partner with.

...speaking of partners, she should really probably check on that Spinarak.

"Alright, out you go." She said as she released the bug type from it's pokeball. The Spinarak looked momentarily dazed, probably still slightly hurting from that beating it had earlier from the Onix. After regaining its senses, it looked up at Abigail, studying her momentarily.

"Alright, we had a deal. Go if you want." She sighed, causing the Spinarak to narrow its eyes slightly at her, as if it was expecting some kind of trick or other form of deception. "Look here, bug, you wanna leave, then leave, I'm not gonna stop you. You're annoying anyways." Abigail huffed. The spinarak still seemed to be studying her quietly, as if it still didn't entirely believe her. Still, it started to turn to leave slowly.

After it was out of sight. Abigail sighed again, and picked up the sleeping Tyrian. "looks like it's just me and you." She sighed. "Ah well, we don't need those losers or that stupid bug, do we? We'll do just fine without them!" She gave Tyrian a huge grin, before giving it a pat on the head. He ignored her, and simply curled back up on her lap.

and that's, when she felt something crawling on her head. Again.

"That's not going to work twice, bug." She said, tilting her head up to get a glimpse of a familiar looking bug. It seemed somewhat disappointed that it hadn't freaked her out like last time. "Dunno why you're back, but if you're coming with me, you're gonna have to do as I say, alright?" She told the bug type, to which it simply rolled its eyes and settled down on her head. "You mess up my hair again by the way, I will feed you to a flock of hoothoot."

She frowned. Damn it...she was still hungry, but she didn't want to eat all of her food.

...oh well, what's the worse that could happen? She'd be a cherrygrove soon anyways. She'd easily get more food there.
