In SoL, the 'goals' become the drama and interpersonal connections/histories players make with each other. Plus setting in in places like a school/college for example give you a timeline to work with.

About Been at this game for a good while now. Starting RPing at the tender age of 15 back when Bebo was a thing. A year later I found myself forum Roleplaying and haven't really looked back since. Over these past ten years I have done practically every kind of RP you could imagine from Nation RPs and Arena RPs to 1x1s and Large group RPs. My last RP hobby was fighting RPs, which I have now decided to leave behind in order to pursue more SoL style Rps.
Outside of RP I am an aspiring writer, despite being terrible with words, as well as an avid gamer. If I am not on discord with the Guild or RPing in some way, I am probably on either my PlayStation or on Steam. Moved into D&D and ended up starting a podcast that has been an interesting journey.

@HaleyTheRandom I honestly don't know what I would do without Haley. It might sound like a exaggeration, but I probably wouldn't be on this planet if it wasn't for her. She also pushes me that little bit further to be a better GM. And to also teach me that it is okay to say no to someone and that I need to grow a backbone.
Location: Planet New Darwin, Holt City Current Status: Under Covenant Siege / Siege Length 40 days
New Darwin is a border colony world which in the beginning of the human-covenant war was surprisingly spared from the initial invasions. This all changed however when rumours began to spread about the discovery about a potential sacred artefact buried somewhere on the planet. The battle lines had advanced far beyond New Darwin and it took a while for any Covenant forces to actually arrive. When they did, the planetary assault force was underwhelming consisting of only a handful of corvettes. The colony city was able to defend itself, and while it didn't outright destroy the corvettes, it damaged them sufficiently to force them back into the upper atmosphere where they were useless. This created an issue however, as now the city was desperate to try and evacuate its civilian population.
The UNSC, only just hearing about the almost forgotten colony of New Darwin, quickly mobilised it's nearest task force, a small group of light and heavy frigates to New Darwin. Upon almost immediately arriving they engaged with already weakened Covenant corvettes, overpowering them and forcing them further and further back. The plan was to open up a gap wide enough that a fleet of human civilian vessels could leave and escape. The plan was not to be, as soon after the UNSC arrived, the Covenant bought in back up in the form of two capital ships. The beast ships quickly swatted away the frigates, forcing them to retreat to the other side of the planet. Quickly they established dominance, landing forces into the city and setting up a space elevator between the ground and one of the capitals, opening the way for a more intense invasion.
The UNSC responded the best they good, sending a single Valiant-class super heavy cruiser (UNSC Bastion) filled to the brim with marines, weapons and vehicles. The plan was to enter the atmosphere, drop off whatever it could and then speed off to meet up with the damaged frigates. For this purpose it was decided that ODST was the way forward. The operation was a success, the ship entered the atmosphere so rapidly that the two capital ships didn't have time to respond, before it Jettisoned every last ODST it had alongside a myriad of marine and vehicle loaded pelicans to compliment current ground forces. Before the Covenant could open fire the ship had already began its trip back up and towards the damaged frigates, armed with repair supplies to start making emergency repairs.
During this RP you will be playing the roles of either Marines or ODST that landed on the planet in the counter attack, or had been bravely holding on since the start. There is deliberately no Spartans to help avoid a debate over how powerful they are or what they can and can't do. Also playing as weaker beings generally makes for better writing.
This will be a different RP simply because it won't progress like a normal RP. This is going to a cross between a Advanced RP and a Table-Top RP. Players will make actions and at the end of their turn then i - the supreme one, will give your characters a choice of actions, which depending on their skills and stats will have differing chances of success.

Basic RP rules apply as per, so no messing around in OOC, keep it civil and any issues let me know, i am glad to talk everything through. Please post at least one day in seven (AKA once a week) - Failure to do so will result in a gory and nasty death for your chara. There is going to be death - this game uses a dice system and sometimes even with max stats, things can go wrong. If your character dies you are more than welcome to create a new chara and jump back in So some information about this RP, we are going to be using stats. Because i can't think of anything else we are going to be using Fallouts Stat system. So yes... you are S.P.E.C.I.A.L. In this however, 5 is normal. So anything above is better, lower is a penalty. Marines can spend 35 points and ODST can get 40 points to spend - use them wisely.
Strength: A measure of physical strength. Affects the amount of weight a person can shift, as well as how healthy a character is in general; a stronger character will pull through injury better. Perception: A measure of how well a person can spot or notice things. Perceptive characters can spot enemies at longer ranges, or spot things others would easily look past. In game, Perception can lead to first strikes, as well extra options outside battle scenarios. Endurance: A measure of how much pain and exhaustion person can withstand. affects Max Health primarily but can also be useful in other rare occasions. Charisma: A measure of how well a character can persuade others. A charismatic character will be able to convince NPCs to do what they want as well as boost morale in others. Intelligence: A measure of smarts. Smarter characters will have considerable more options when it comes to dealing with certain situations. Agility: A Measure of reaction times and speed. Agile characters are more likely to react quicker, dodge and gain first strike. Luck: A measure of how lucky someone is. Lucky characters can find things go there way in some situations, and can gain access to risky options in other situations.
Everyone gets Two Perks. You don't have to have two... or any. Assault Focused: Years of Assault training has paid off greatly - +1 to stats and rolls in Offensive Actions. -1 in Defensive Actions. Defense Focused: Years of Defense Tactical training has paid off greatly - +1 to stats and rolls in Defensive Actions. -1 in Offensive Actions. Sniper: Advanced training in the handling of marksman weapons - Allows the use of the sniper rifle Heavy Weapons: Advanced training in the handling of Heavy Weapons - Allows the use of the rocket launcher and other heavy weapons. Adrenaline Bursts: You can't help but feel a rush when underfire - +1 to Agility when under attack, -1 Agility in other cases. Non-Combat Training: Winning a war isn't just about guns - its about smarts - +1 to Intelligence, Perception, Charisma. -1 to Strength, Endurance and Agility. Advanced Combat Training: Guns solve all problems - +1 to Strength, Endurance and Agility, -1 to Intelligence, Perception and Charisma. Politician: Pandering to the people has benefits - +3 to Charisma, Access to special interactions. Strength and endurance maxed at 7. Critical Expert: It's not worth shooting unless you hit the head - + 15% chance to gain critical hit, -5% chance to hit. Patient Shooter: Timing shots and slow rates of fire win wars - +10% chance to hit, -5% to critical chance. Brute: Muscles solve all problems... who needs words? - +2 Strength, -1 Charisma and Agility. Lightweight: Being scrawly has its perks - +2 Agility and -2 Strength. Forest Park Ranger: In the forest, you notice things - +2 to Perception and -1 Strength and Luck. Vehicular Training: Burning rubber right into the grunts face - Advanced options when operating vehicles. More likely to avoid hits and does +10% damage to vehicles. Tactical Awareness: Knowing what you are getting yourself into helps - +1 to Perception and +10% for first strike. -1 Endurance. Silent Veteran: ... - Charisma stuck at 1. +10% chance to hit, +10% Crit chance, +10% First Strike, +10% dodge, +10% damage.

The Holt City Centre is currently unavailable due to the intense fighting already going on there. the UNSC and Covenant are throwing everything they have into securing Chumanaga Park. The Covenant want it to set up a gravity lift for its second capital ship, the UNSC are desperate to stop this from happening.

Jacob didn't seem to be getting the answers he wanted from people. Cynthia had gone off on one, in a way that seemed to really disturb Jacob. Instead of getting any answers he had to deal with Cynthia's little speech, Riley mentioning something about her music career taking off. Jacob wasn't paying full attention to what she said. He knew what Riley had been upto. He couldn't avoid her music at one point, as her popularity climbed several people pointed out that both Riley and Jacob attending the same school. So in the odd interview he would get asked about it. Jacob therefore has to know what Riley was upto. She had done well for herself too. Even if Jacob wasn't that keen on her. He did sometimes wonder if any of her songs were about him. Though he would never let anyone else know about that.
Before Jacob could say anything back to her, she took her leave. He couldn't help but feel that it was his fault slightly she was using the bathroom as the excuse to go away. It did seem however that Tim had wanted to say something, putting his sheriff's hat on. 'Since when has Tim been in law enforcement' The question was probing. Jacob couldn't really tell if there was any weight, authority or malice in those words.
"And why would you need to know that exactly? What exactly is going on? Cyntiha mentions death and then you ask me where i was... what the hell is going on!?" His voice started to raise slightly towards the end of the sentence. Not because he was angry, it was more because no one had answered his first question and now he was having to reiterate to others again. One of his pet loathes. And while Jacob might not of meant it, it could have been viewed as confrontational.
The steps Jacob took were small. Much smaller than what he would have normally strode. He was nervous. Nervous as hell. He was walking right upto his past and pretty much confronting it. The past quickly came to him in return. Cynthia had darted forward, closing the gap between them before Jacob could even speak, Cynthia had gotten right into him, almost nose to nose. On instinct, the muscles in his legs tightened, adrenaline levels soaring. The fight or flight response upon which he had mastered in high school had kicked in. Cynthia had invaded his personal space and his body had arched backwards, trying to avoid letting Cynthia getting any closer to his face. He was almost happy when Tim removed her, though Cynthia's words had struck him as odd. Before he could say anything, Cynthia was swiped back into the group, Tim saying something that Jacob couldn't quite make out as he got closer. Cynthia however was louder and gave it away quite quickly. Now with the group, he wasn't exactly happy.
"What did Cynthia say? Lots of death? And something about Jacob doing it? I hope this is all her crazy speak going on?" For Jacob that was the best he could muster. He didn't hear enough to say anything else, and as far as he knew everything was fine. He had just arrived here, blissfully unaware of the events unfolding around him. Were the referring to the death of Simone? On the various interconnecting flights here, Jacob hadn't given Simone much thought. The bitch was dead. End of. However now he was here it began to dawn on him - then events that took place that night.
Jacob had been at the back. As far back as was possible without melting into the wall. This part of the prom was the bit he had hated. He hated popularity. He couldn't stand it. And now they were about to announce the biggest titles of them all: Prom King and Prom Queen. At that point, after the two obvious names were announced and Jacob was about ready to leave, the body of Simone came crashing down, hanging there for everyone to see. At first Jacob wanted to throw up, his haemophobia kicking in. But at that point. When his mind registered that it was Simone, suddenly he didn't give a crap anymore.
"I have been working around the clock..." He started in response to Riley's question, trying not to let the previous statement he had made longer on for too long. "Travelling the world and selling my latest microcopmuter. as well as trying to enjoy wealth. How about you?"
