In SoL, the 'goals' become the drama and interpersonal connections/histories players make with each other. Plus setting in in places like a school/college for example give you a timeline to work with.

About Been at this game for a good while now. Starting RPing at the tender age of 15 back when Bebo was a thing. A year later I found myself forum Roleplaying and haven't really looked back since. Over these past ten years I have done practically every kind of RP you could imagine from Nation RPs and Arena RPs to 1x1s and Large group RPs. My last RP hobby was fighting RPs, which I have now decided to leave behind in order to pursue more SoL style Rps.
Outside of RP I am an aspiring writer, despite being terrible with words, as well as an avid gamer. If I am not on discord with the Guild or RPing in some way, I am probably on either my PlayStation or on Steam. Moved into D&D and ended up starting a podcast that has been an interesting journey.

She also pushes me that little bit further to be a better GM. And to also teach me that it is okay to say no to someone and that I need to grow a backbone.
First Post is up! I am not starting a two week countdown or anything just yet as people are still joining, but if you want to get on it and getting some early posting in (As I know Starters tend to be longer than normal posts!)
A dark damp mist descended onto the deep forests that surrounded Tanner. The swirling white clouds dancing between the trees. A full moon in the sky had reached its efflorescence along the blackened sky, using its reflected light to shine down through the thick mist, that somehow only made things harder to see. Suffice to say that the majority of the town was at this point asleep, and anyone who was awake in this hour was certainly upto no good.
Hurried footsteps moved through the forests, accompanied by hurried draws of deep breath. Panic rising in the air. Moments later another sound could be heard in the woods, giving chase, faint snarls mixed in with the sounds of running. Occasionally the prey would look behind them, hearing the snarling getting closer and closer. The mist was making it harder to see where they were supposed to be going or how close their pursuer was.
Suddenly, A single scream pierced the air. And then silence.
It was late at night, but somehow here Carlisle was. Sitting in the passenger seat of his mother's SUV as they drove out to the outskirts of Tanner. Opposite him was his mother: Amanda Aston; A blonde haired petite woman who had clearly dyed her hair and used many makeup products to disguise her true age. In the backseat sat a middle-aged male, with brown spikey hair. He was wearing a white collar shirt, deliberately unbuttoned to reveal the top of his chest, along with the sleeves rolled up to reveal the many tattoos that decorated his body.
"Remind me why I got woken up at midnight again?" Carlisle huffed, letting out a half stifled yawn while sitting back up straight in his seat"
"Because something doesn't feel right with the barrier. Don't tell me you can't feel it too" His mother snapped back, clearly not in the mood.
"Well yeah, I get that, I can feel it. But it's nearly 2am, why can't we look into it in the morning"
"Because who knows what could get in during that time. And before you ask I woke you up because as of midnight this is officially your problem. I asked Ty to come with because he was already with me at the party"
“Ah yes, the Retirement Party. I am guessing that Ty was the only one besides you that wasn’t drunk out of their head?” It seemed neither his mother, nor Ty decided to answer the question.
It wouldn't be much longer until the group made their way to the edge of the Tanner forest. Jumping out of the vehicle, Carlisle turned his phone flash on, while his mother bought out a flashlight. Ty elected to simply hold his hand up and conjure a bright burning flame in his palm. The trio made their way through the forest, heading towards the barrier: A magical field created by the coven to keep out any supernatural threats to the small town. Reaching the edge of the barrier it seemed their suspicions were confirmed. While invisible to the Mundane, anyone with magical sight could see a bright blue and purple swirling shield infront of them. A massive tear was visible, the newly created edges pulsating with a faint blue glow.
Carlisle got in closer to inspect the damage to the barrier. It seemed to be extensive. Not only had the magic been torn, but also destroyed. Ty would walk over to Carlisle, taking a look himself.
“Whatever broke this must have some serious power. It looks like it ripped the barrier apart rather than shattering it” Ty commented, running his non-inflamed hand along the gap where the barrier once was. “No latent magic even left here. Think you can repair it?” Carlisle nodded in acknowledgement and Ty took a step back. “Remember to focus your energy. The barrier is still up, so draw from its power to boost your own.”
Carlisle would hold both his hands out, taking a deep breath as he dove deep into his well of magical energy. His hands would glow blue as the barrier would begin to reform, the torn edges slowly filling in and making their way to the center of Carlisle’s hands. Both Ty and his mother watched as Carlisle finally finished fixing up the shield. After he was done, Carlisle could be seen breathing heavily, clearly exhausted.
“You did good kid. Repairing the barrier is normally a task reserved for a group. It takes real power to be able to repair it solo” Ty praised, helping Carlisle back onto his feet properly.
“Well, it should be expected of an Aston really” His mother spoke, rather dismissively. “Those claw marks make me think that potentially a werewolf has breached the barrier. Looks like you have your work cut out for you” His mother spoke, staring directly at Carlisle.
“I will don’t you worry”
6:15 AM
Carlisle’s sleep was punctuated by the sudden chime from his phone alarm on his bedside table. Grabbing it, he looked at the time before letting out a short sigh and dismissing the alarm: 6.15am. Rolling onto his side he would sit up running his hand through his hair. Today was the day. College was over, and everyone would be back from college. Carlisle was both excited and dreading the day ahead. It was going to be nice to see people he used to go to high school with, but at the same time, it was also quite scary. Have people changed? Would people even remember him? He had tried his best to keep in touch with people, but that wasn’t exactly easy for him.
Putting on a baggy tee and his morning shorts, Carlisle got out of bed and walked out of his room in his parents house. The Aston family lived in a nice Victroian style house in the more well to do area of Tanner. It was one of those ‘In our family for generations’ style of houses, where half of the furniture was most likely older than his parents' ages combined.
Reaching the kitchen he saw his mother sitting at the kitchen tabletop, a dark green leather bound book in her hands, clad in her half lace dressing gown. Amanda Aston was one of the premier witches in the Tanner Coven, making up one of the three council members. Normally she was always engrossed in coven matters, but at the moment she seemed to be rather relaxed.
”Enjoying your first day of retirement?” Carlisle asked. As he made his way to the toaster to put some bread in. Toast would make everything better.
”It isn’t exactly relaxing. I still have alot of Coven stuff to do, it just means I don’t have to spend every waking hour of every waking day dealing with things. That is your problem now.” The coven would certainly not be the same without Amanda walking around every day and calling the shots. As the Coven Matriarch, it was certainly going to be an adjustment to not seeing her every day. ”Besides, most of my life at the moment is trying to find a replacement for myself.” With the toast popping out of the toaster, Carlilse grabbed it and spun back around. Deciding to try and head his mother off as he knew the point she was about to make.
”Let me guess, the other council members are still reluctant to put me in charge like you want?” Carlisle retorted, the corner of a piece of toast now hanging from his teeth. Amanda on the other hand was somewhat casual with her body language.
”They are still uneasy about a warlock being in charge of the coven, and ontop of that, they still think Serena would be a better candidate. They have only agreed for you to be a caretaker Patriarch until the council has made its final decision. And that was a hard enough sell. Had to spend weeks essentially arguing that Serena had been away for too long to be deemed an immediate choice. It is only a matter of time.” Carlisle had been leaning against the kitchen counter, listening to his mothers words, eating the toast, forgetting to put any topping on it in the process.
”Have you ever considered that perhaps, I don’t deserve it? I mean let's be clear, I am a warlock. I know, before you start, you don’t like it. I am the first warlock of the bloodline, and father will go on and on about how I am either a disgrace to the bloodline, or omens of the future of the Aston family. But at the same time, maybe I don’t want it. I am not exactly a natural born leader.” Amanda sat up straight, finally her fuse had been set off, and the relaxed facade had finally crumbled.
”Carlisle, the Aston family have been Matriarchs of the coven seven out of the last ten times. It is within our nature to be the leaders of this town's fine witches and warlocks.
”Exactly, 7/10. That means you don’t win every time. This is just one of these times that you don’t. I guess we'll just have to focus on my child… If I ever have one.” Carlisle knew what he just did. Threatening not to have children infront of his mother was the equivalent of setting off a nuclear bomb in this household. Anything that would suggest that the Aston bloodline would end with him always elicited the same response. ”Also bear in mind you said Matriarch, not Patriarch. It is no secret that magical energy runs stronger in the female side of the Aston bloodline. I am not ashamed of that.”
”Not this again. Where is your ambition Carlisle? Your family has an amazing history that most witches would die for, and you sit here like it means nothing to you. I had really hoped with your friends coming back that maybe some fire would be ignited under you. I even got this book out that discusses rituals to turn warlocks into witches.”
”Mom. No. I am not taking part in any hokey cokey ritual that could potentially kill me, all for giving you some extra family credit. End of discussion.” With that, Carlisle finished the final bite of his toast and began to walk back upto his room, ignoring the protests of his mother to come back and listen to him.
A sigh escaped Carlisle’s lips as he reentered his room. This morning had gone exactly as he imagined it so far. Nothing new there. Picking up his phone, he at least noted that it had burnt about 20 minutes of his day. Opening his messenger app he would quickly find Lilith and send her a quick text:
Morning, So I have already had the ‘talk’ with my mother. It isn’t even the start of day one proper yet. How’s your morning?”
Sending the text he put the phone back in his pocket. He was used to Lilith responding whenever she was free and able to talk. There was no guarantee that she was even up yet. Carlisle then began the process of getting dressed and ready for the day. His mother had already informed everyone to let their children know that they needed to be at the Coven household by 11am that morning. She had of course instructed Carlise to be there fashionably earlier than that. She had also taken an immense amount of pride telling every parent who would listen about how ‘her boy’ was looking after the coven after they all decided to take retirement.
Retirement wasn’t exactly a new concept. It had been around for a few generations, but normally, the elders waited until their replacements were in their mid thirties before pulling their stunt, so doing it this young was a decision that he couldn’t quite comprehend. They clearly had their reasons, but they were keeping everyone in the dark about it.
With his clothes now on: A simple white shirt and black trouser pants, a la, smart casual, Carlisle decided to set off to the Coven household. That way his mother couldn’t try and sacrifice him to some sort of eldritch horror in a vein attempt to save the family's vanity. Carlisle decided to walk through the quiet morning streets of suburban Tanner to get to the household. Mostly because he knew that everyone was most likely to bring their car and cause a massive pile up at the house. And there was no way he was going to be stuck there because someone can’t park correctly.
The Coven Household
The Coven Household was situated in the center of Tanner, and if you believe the history of the place, it was one of the first buildings that was built in Tanner and it was built by the coven for their exclusive use. It was called the Household because that was what it was. In order to avoid raising suspicions in older times, some witches and warlocks lived inside the house so that to the outside world it was just a popular residence. Nowadays most of the mortals believe it is some kind of membership only club.
Carlisle would enter the household through the front door, unlocking it with his mothers master key. Well, I suppose for now, his master key. The building had a wonderful entrance hall complete with a twin staircase that led upstairs. The home was filled with many bedrooms, drawing rooms, lounges, studies, libraries, and then there was the basement. That was something else entirely. Carlisle hadn’t exactly explored the entire house even with all the years he had been here. You never really went into a room unless you needed to. But in theory, this was his house now. So it would be rude not to take stock.
His adventurous streak was dashed however when he checked his watch. It had just turned 9am. He decided instead to go to the dining room adjacent to the entrance hallway and wait to see if anyone turned up early. He had to be the responsible one.
Invocation (8): Victor's natural talent for invocation was first noticed by his father. The boy nonchalantly conjured flames on his hands, much to his father's astonishment. It was similar for the other elements, able to conjure and form every element with seeming ease, although he seemed to have an affinity towards ice and wind. When prodded by his father he simply shrugged, stating that the elements were like 'the neighbourhood cats he played with' and that some 'liked him more than others'. If not for his lax attitude, he may have better control over the elements or potentially even other schools of magic.
At one point, Victor sauntered across their family pool rather than going around it, each step froze and unfroze the pool. His mother punished his laziness with a knock to the head, reprimanding and warning him to avoid doing such acts in public. A similar act of indolence was when he created ice-cubes out of thin air, seeing the trek to the fridge as 'bothersome'.
Personality:
Victor isn't what you would call active, he (used to) lives just to laze around. His general attitude reflects this greatly, always just preferring the 'relaxed' way out. He usually speaks in a clear and concise sentences, often in a mellow tone, to get his point across quicker. It is difficult to really get a rise out of or anger Victor, as he usually lets most transgressions roll off his shoulders. Only mentions of his family or the coven can really anger him.
The way Victor approaches a problem is unique, his mindset being 'Solve it as quickly as possible to get back to 'vibing''. He opts for the fastest approach to nailing down a problem so he can go back to 'lazing' around. It seemed he inherited his free-spirited and relaxed nature from his father.
Victor is a peace-maker, often getting between disputes between friends or the coven. Despite himself, he seems unable to bear others bickering. Violence is often the very last thing on his mind, often de-escalating situations before they reach a boiling point. Though unsure if it is due to his heritage, he is easily able to empathize with others and can generally tell when someone is not their usual self. This fear of dispute likely stems from his fear of abandonment from his 'real' extended family. While he liked being alone at times, he never liked being lonely.
The boy has a certain loyalty to the coven, viewing the rest of the witches and warlocks as part of his extended family. His is fairly protective of them. Similarly, he dislikes his 'real' extended family, the Crowe's who disowned his father during his youth.
History/Bio:
Victor's family history is complicated. The Crowe's had practiced magic for centuries. Victor's great grandfather and his great uncle were famous witches in their time. Many in his family were exceptional and a few even famous for their mastery of magic. Generally, the Crowe's were pureblood and did not marry non-magicians. Believing that it diluted their magical potential. His father, Pierre Crowe, eschewed this practice after falling head over heels with Victor's mother, Jane Sunderland. From his youth he saw how other family members endlessly berated and mock his father. The Crowe's eventually 'banished' Pierre from the family as he was only the third son.
Pierre found the Tanner coven, a coven that accommodated for his family. It was soon that a separate Crowe line integrated into the coven.
Soon it was found that Victor had a certain talent for Invocation and a penchant for laziness. Despite being a witch, his mother had wanted him to atleast achieve a bachelors degree 'just in-case'. Initially, Victor was indifferent to the idea.
Due to this attitude, his mother was very strict with him- almost spartan-like. She found out that her son could apply himself with a bit of pressure- she forced him away to study law at a young age, making certain that Victor achieved honors. Despite being ostensibly human, Victor fears his mother more than any witch or warlock. As a result, he is surprisingly diligent about his studies, getting A(s) in all courses. In part not wanting to disappoint his mother, the other part being deathly afraid of his mother's wrath.
His mother eased up as soon as he achieved his bachelor's degree.
On the other side, his father let him approach magic at his own pace. After teaching him the basics, his father found it best to let Victor's talent guide his magic.

Transmutation (Seven): Specilizing in Water and Earth manipulation powers.
Earth: Erin has the ability to use plants, dirt, and other natural materials to bend to her will. She can grow new plants, or use ones that are already existing. Erin can make plants grow to massive heights, use their branches and weapons, sling boulders at you, and other such things.
Erin can use rocks and dirt to make shields around herself and others.
Has the ability to take and give life from plants and animals - humans excluded. She must be touching the target for her spell to work.
Can cause vines to grow from the ground, growing at rapid rates. She usually uses this to trap her enemies.
Poisons Touch: Just like Erin can cause plants to wither or burst with life, she can also poison your food or water. On the flip side, she can also purify whatever you are eating and drinking. She must make physical contact with the bowl/plate/cup that the food/drink is on/in for this power to work.
Water:
Can control both fresh and salt water. Erin can make weapons and shields from water. She can also use this as a defensive spell as well.
Illusion (Seven)
First and foremost, with this ability, Erin can make you see, hear, and believe what she wants. She can only do all of this to one person at a time, and must have eye contact for this spell to work on her target. She can make up to three targets hear what she wants them too, but they must be within her range of sight. She can make up to three targets also see what she wants them too, by casting a false reality in front of them. If someone comes to the conclusion that the illusion is not real, the spell will break.
Erin is a master of disguise, and can change her own physical appearance at will.
Erin can make herself and ONE other person invisible.
When making eye contact with Erin, she can trick you into believing that you are suffocating, having the best time of your life, and anything in between.
Mirror Image: Erin can 'clone' herself for ten minutes at a time. The 'other Erin' will follow her - unless given a task - and will mimic her movements and whatever she says.
Most people who have met Erin describe her as being puppy-like. She’s inviting, gives out compliments like candy, and is always eager to please. She’s nearly always cheerful, and tends to look on the brighter side of things. Erin floats around town taking pictures of everyone and everything - sometimes capturing things she doesn’t intend to. Erin is the sort of person that has a heart of gold, and treats others the way that she wants to be treated.
Loyal to a fault, Erin always tries to see the best in people. This often lands her in some very sad and sticky situations when people turn out to not be who she thought that they were. Erin has a very hard time telling people no, and is known to be very trustworthy. The young woman often finds herself harboring peoples secrets, and has never leaked anything to anyone unless someone was in danger. Much like her father, Erin is corny, and always has a pun up her sleeve. Erin also gets her compassion and caring nature from her father, and does her best to spread the love.
But do not be fooled by her good side.
Erin also has a badass for a mother, and learned things over the years from her as well. Erin gets her bluntness from her mother, but she tries to word things in a friendly manner. Her mother is also determined and confident - two other things that translated well into Erin’s personality. Her mothers flirtatious and sexual side also transferred over. Of course, the one thing that it seems all the children in the Blake family inherited from their mother is her temper.
It takes a lot to push Erin to her limit, as she’s a very patient, kind, and forgiving person. But piss her off one good time, and you’ll find yourself pinned up to a wall while those blue eyes start to look more like flames.
History/Bio:
Erin was born to Nate and Jasper Blake (Formerly Delamar). Her mother is a world famous chef, and her father is a photographer to the stars. Erin is the youngest of the triplets, as well as the only girl. She also the tallest, but don't tell her brothers because they're butthurt babies. Growing up, Erin was a total daddies girl. She has always wanted to - and still does want to be - exactly like her father. Erin began taking an interest in photography at the age of six. Poetry came at the age of eight. Nature was something that has always and will always be ingrained in her. Erin has always been known to take off into the woods on a solo camping trip for a few days - especially on her family's home in Western North Carolina.
The Blake Clan followed the Delamars, moving home to Tanner when Erin was thirteen. Jasper was a magi, Nate was just a loveable human - but little did the Delamar siblings know that their mother was a witch. Erin is the only one of the triplets that inherited the magical abilities of her ancestors.
Erin has always been known as the Nature Loving Hippie of sorts. She's always dressed casually, her eyes are wild, and her hair is always messy. She had a few flings in high-school, but none of them really stuck around. She was also known for being on the Volleyball captain.
Upon graduating, Erin moved to New York with her cousin Serena. While Serena chose to do Freelance work, Erin did go to college for her associates in photography. Once out of college, Erin really turned her attention towards her online presence in order to build her photography clientele. Having her fathers last name made things a little easier; While Nate took pictures of everyone famous, Erin sold them the pictures that they hung on the walls of their houses. She's done a runway shoot here and there - but Erin enjoys photographing nature over everything else.
Coming back home isn't anything upsetting for Erin. Deep down, she always knew she would return to Tanner- she just didn't expect it to be this soon. Erin still really wants to travel and see the world - she just hopes that whatever is waiting for her in Tanner doesn't ruin her dreams.

Invocation (8): Serena has always been connected to the elements and the earth, but her specialty is fire. Since it was the first element she ever had a 'taste' of, Serena worked hard to master her craft when it came to such a wild thing. The source of her power comes from within, though she can make her powers stronger by siphoning off of other sources of energy (humans, phones, power lines, the earth, etc). She can do just about anything and everything she wants with fire (make weapons, walls, shields, etc).
Serena has also been working to control her powers over the wind.
Enchantment (6)
Celeste adores to play games on the human mind. Imagine the joy when she learned her powers could help her do just that. Celeste likes to enchant random objects and leave them around town in order to cause chaos.
She can make one target at a time do whatever bidding she wishes. The target must be in her line of sight, and be able to hear her.
Serena can control the emotions of up to five people at once through her words - but again she must be able to see them, and they must be able to hear her.
Serena can control ONE target, via mind control, but must have eye contact with the target at the beginning of the spell. She usually does this to make someone feel like absolute shit. Having Serena 'inside' of your head is literal torture - and she'll see to it.
Upon meeting Serena, your first assumption may be that she is a shy person. While that’s far from the truth, Serena isn’t the most social person out there - often being called antisocial. She will greet you, and even carry on small talk - just don’t expect her to enjoy it very much.
The truth is, Rena spends most of her time locked inside of her own head - constantly writing in her journal and scribbling on spare pieces of paper. She's been caught talking to herself on many occasions. She's creative and artistic. This is all something you can tell right off hand if he decides to open up in the slightest.
While overall cold and uninviting, Serena tends to pick and choose her friends as those who calm her and/or bring joy. She values loyalty and honesty above almost all other things in life. While toxic and assholish, she does try to be a good person from time to time.
She is charming, stylish, and confident. Loyal, aggressive, and stubborn. Charismatic and daring, Serena is always searching for his next adrenaline fix .
Upon meeting her, you will notice the way that her eyes seem to watch your every move, as she tries to get a feel for your character. She's always curious about people, and how their minds work - forever studying those around her.
Serena can be a bit difficult to get along with. She's opinionated, strong willed, and when it comes to the select few people she allows to get close he can be possessive, territorial, and just outright toxic.

History/Bio:
Father is Tiberius Delamar - tattoo artist to the stars. Hermother is Junie Baby Delamar - formerly Macmillian. She’s an amazing artist. They met in college. Fell in love. Traveled the world, got married, worked through dad’s drinking problem and had three children. Settled down in LA, before moving to Tanner when Serena was thirteen.
While Ty did not know his wife was a witch, it didn't take long for Junie to come clean about her ancestry before they began having children. Ty himself was a magi - another group of magical beings related to witches, but governed by their own rules - so he was just thankful that his children inherited their mothers powers.
Serena was mostly taught how to use and harness her powers by her parents. She also had the help of her aunt Jasper, and her cousin Erin to spar with. While living in LA, Junie would frequently take her children to the LA Coven branch to familiarize them with the laws and the ways of witches.
Upon Serena turning thirteen, Junie and Ty decided that it would be best to move back home to Tanner, so that their children could learn from 'the best'.
Growing up, Serena was known as the Big Titty Goth Bitch - much like her aunt. Her makeup and fashion looks often sparked jealousy from the other girls. Her hair was a different color every day from her wigs, and she refused to wear anything that wasn't the highest name brand for the longest time. She was known for being a 'player' - especially when it came to the ladies. Following in her fathers footsteps, Serena began drinking and getting into physical fights in high school.
Upon graduating, Serena moved away to New York with her cousin Erin. Serena has worked as a lingerie model since high school, and has spent most of her free time traveling.
Coming back to Tanner isn't really something that Serena wanted to do of her own. If it hadn't been for Erin also coming back, and both of her parents yelling at her - there's no way in hell she'd be here right now.
Despite her outward appearance, you’ll be shocked to find that Sereans room is decorated in both pastels, and lots of black.
She’s obsessed with the Disney character, Stitch.
She sings in the shower, and in the car. She has a pretty decent voice, but is to self conscious to sing in front of anyone.

Serena also keeps a journal full of short stories, cringey fan fiction, her thoughts, and even her own spicy fantasies.
Her drink of choice is vodka. She also smokes weed.

Being an artist runs in the family. Serena began painting with acrylics at the age of seven, and eventually ventured out into oil paintings. She can also be found sketching on just about any surface. (Her arms, legs, jeans, etc are often covered with doodles - as well as her notebooks, journals, and sketchbooks). Most of the time she does her drawings in pencil, but does enjoy doing charcoal pieces as well.
Serena works as a lingerie model, and sells some of her paintings on the side.

Invocation (7) 1.Aurora can wield the power of electricity. It's her most used element. (Other elements are more lacking with their usage.) Often summoning little sparks of electricity from her fingertips. When Angry those can turn into powerful thunderbolts thrown at the enemy. 2.She has a dagger that she likes to imbued with the power of electricity. When it comes in contact with others, it electrifies them, as well as useable in normal physical combat without magic. 3.Aurora can create objects out of electricity. They often dance in mid air with the power of her creations. Concentration must be maximum, or the objects won't last very long. Often uses it as a distraction technique in battle. 4.Summons a powerful shield of electricity, that wraps around her in a protective bubble. Can also wrap it around her allies for protection. Shield only harms enemies. The shield does not harm those she is protecting. 5. When using other elements, she can create a sturdy wall made from ice, earth or fire. Since she does not practise with these elements as much, the walls have limited timing before it's magic fades away. 6. Uses the powers of the elements to heal herself and allies.
Enchantment (6) 1. Can curse enemies. Curses depend on what severity of punishment is used on others. 2. Aurora can shapeshift into other things including animals. Often seen either in bird form if she wants to fly, or a small cat when she's at home. Can also cast shapeshifting spells on members of her coven and enemies. Limited timing on others. If used on enemies, renders them harmless for up to an hour. After that, the spell automatically breaks. 3. Charming Allure. A seductive spell used to it's advantages against others. Makes her almost irresistible to others. Spell can be broken through strong will or power of their own from the other party. 4. Can bring inanimate objects to life for brief periods of time.
Illusion (3) Weakest of her schools of magic. Recently has taken interest in learning more about that type of school. So far she seems to be slowly mastering two spells of Illusions; faking her death and putting enemies under the illusion that they are in pain.
Personality: Very intelligent, Aurora can be seen as the voice of reason by the younger members of the coven. She is extremely protective of those close to her, and won't hesitate to defend them; even if it means hurting those trying to harm her loved ones. If you catch her on a bad day, she is lethal and often can be seen as rather feisty. She will speak her mind, in certain situations. Much to some people's dislike.
History/Bio:Growing up, the Newman family had always been a part of the Tanner Coven. Aurora being the youngest of two children in her family. She was always considered the baby of the family, and had it slightly easier than her older brother. Her parents always being harsh on her brother Mikael, pushing him to his limits. Until she was 6, that's when everything had changed. Her older brother died in a duel against an enemy of one of the opposing covens. That left the Newman family broken; Her brother was supposed to be the new leader of their family, after her father. Whilst Aurora was missing her older brother. Her parents were more protective and strict on her. Feeling like the pressure was now on her shoulders, every day Aurora wanted to better herself. As a daughter, as a Witch and in any other way possible. Hence her natural attunement to wanting to learn more about different schools of magic and excel at those that she is already skilled in. Wanting to live up to her parents expectation of being a brilliant witch. Sometimes the pressure is too much, but Aurora wouldn't voice such thoughts to her family.
Besides working for the Coven, Aurora had other dreams and plans for her future. Attending University classes like any other normal person would. At the age of 20, she had finished her degree of Literature. She works as a well known Publisher for a popular company in New York.
As far as her work with the coven goes, she likes to help out the new comers to the coven as well as the youngsters in any way she can. Aurora is very dedicated to both her mortal and coven work. If she can help educate or train another member of the coven, she will happily help.

[i]Welcome to the picturesque small town of Tanner, set in the tall trees of Washington State. The town is to the outside world, a quiet place of nothingness. However, hidden in the American gothic homes, hedgerows and winding streets, is a community in hiding. For you see: Tanner is home to a Witches coven.
Even in these modern times, Witches and supernatural beings creep in the shadows, doing their best to blend in and avoiding suspicion. Things never seem to be that easy however, as beyond the veil lie many creatures who wish to feast on mortals or try to subdue them. So, the witches of Tanner stand guard and protect the town from those who wish it harm. Even if the residents would freak out if they knew the truth.
Our story follows the journey of the current cohort of witches at the Tanner coven. Returning fresh from college after several years away. Their parents have all decided to retire from the coven, and instead allow the younger generation to take over. For better or for worse. Oddly, no one seems to be able to give a reason as to why the decision was made.

Master of Shadows: Kolby has the ability to create weapons, shields, and all sorts of other shapes with shadows.

Shadow Travel: Kolby can use naturally occurring shadows to help himself move across the world. He can step into a shadow in the back of a bar in Washington, and pop out in the bathroom of a cafe in France. Kolby cannot create the shadows through which he passes. The greater the distances, the more exhausted he becomes.
Necromancy (6):
Can see here, and talk to the dead.
Can summon six un-dead warriors to help in battle. These warriors are essentially armored skeletons with (maybe) a few scraps of flesh. They can be defeated by decapitation.
Can give and take life, by touching something with a natural life source. He cannot kill humans, witches, or anything that seems human at it's core. By touching a human and trying to drain their life force, Kolby can only make them ill, and only to the point of flu like symptoms.
Tricking the Senses: Kolby can blind or deafen one target for up to one minute. He has to chose one or the other - it cannot be both. The target must be within a fifteen foot radius.
On the outside looking in, Kolby is a charming young man. He has a way with the ladies, and isn't scared to flirt. He is rather attentive, often leading to moments in conversations where people are shocked that he remembers small details from a story they told months ago. He's a regular everyday guy, doing his best to impress. He's extremely competitive - often erring on the side of aggressive - and loves a challenge. Rather charismatic, when Kolby speaks, people tend to listen.
Underneath his skin, Kolby is a troubled boy. He punches walls to release his frustrations. He drinks whiskey in order to laugh. He smokes cigarettes to stop his hands from shaking. He plays piano to calm his nerves. Sex is nothing but a way to release frustration. Kolby is fiercely loyal, and protects the ones he loves. Some may call the way he acts possessive. Despite all of this, Kolby is his biggest critic, and his worst downfall.
Aside from that, he's a major fuckboy.
History/Bio:
Kolby was born and raised in Tanner, though his upbringing was a bit different from that of his peers. While the Hawthorne families name carried a proper weight in Tanner, Kolby's parents were a disgrace to the Hawthorne name. His mother was an addict, his father was physically and verbally abusive. They only ever used their magic to harm others, and to benefit themselves. Kolby didn't have much training in his formative years. He spent most of his time finding small spaces to hide in, or blending in with the shadows. The kids at school were mean; While Kolby didn't quite understand why his family was looked at differently, he knew from a very young age that he wasn't necessarily welcome in the Coven - he was there because of technicalities. When Kolby's mother died, his grandmother, Isabella stepped forward. She dragged her son-in-law through a six month court battle in which she won custody over Kolby. After the court case was over, Kolby never saw his father again. For the first time since he was born, Kolby finally had a good, calm influence.
Isabella did her best, but the morals and ways that Kolby's parents had taught him for the last ten years had already began to stick. While she could teach Kolby how to charm and dress like a proper gentleman, she Isabella Rossi never could tame her grandsons anger. For the next six years, Kolby went everywhere Isabella did. The Apothecary, the grocery store, Coven meetings, etc. She focused on training him to be a proper adult, and as good of a person as she could make him. Isabella found other witches and warlocks to train Kolby physically, while she studied more on book work. While Kolby has her to thank for everything, Isabella passed from old age when Kolby was seventeen years of age. Turning eighteen in just three months, Kolby spent the remainder of his 'child hood' living at the Coven House.
Kolby's high school life was hectic. At school he was known for being one of the biggest and baddest bullies around. While he didn't typically hang out with any particular crowd, Kolby's name was known around Tanner High School for a multitude of things: Drugs, sex, fights, suspensions and vandalism being the main ones. He spent more time partying under the bleachers than he did anything.
After high school, Kolby did his best to find more of his family, which landed him in New York. Shortly after arriving in the City of Dreams, Kolby learned that he didn't really have any family to find. He worked odd jobs on the side while soaking up the culture of the city until eventually landing himself a gig as a tattoo artist. He is returning to Tanner in hopes of a fresh start, and with the dream that people won't treat him like the kid he used to be. The question is, however, has Kolby earned his redemption?

Spiritually Gifted: Ever since she was little, Lilith has always heard 'voices' in her head. Little did she know that these were her own spirit guides. Through years and years of training, and lots of trial and error, Lilith can now safely and effectively communicate with her spirit guides. She does this mostly through tarot, using her pendulum, and keeping her eyes open for 'angel numbers'. She also still hears her guides voices in her head, but she can now chose when to receive their messages instead of having all of theirs and her thoughts jumbled as one. Lilith communicates with her spirit guides for guidance and clarity. While she will often ask her guides questions for other people, the answers can vary from super helpful to a simple 'fuck off'. Ultimately, these are Lilith guides, and they are here for her - not for you. Their answers are attuned to Lilith, and her life. While she might be able to ask her guides for guidance for you, they aren't going to be able to give you the clarity that you are seeking. When Lilith asks for guidance from her spirit guides for other people, it is easiest to receive answers back for the people who have the strongest emotional connections to Lilith.
Empathy: Lilith is an empathy, through and through. Her gut feeling and general intuition have never steered her wrong. Actions speak louder than words, and Lilith has always been able to see right through whatever act people are putting on. She knows when someone she is speaking to is angry, happy, sad, or anything in between. She also knows when she's being lied to. If you're ever hanging out with Lilith and she thinks it's time to leave - you should follow.
Spirit Traveling: Lilith has the ability to travel to the Astral Plane through sleeping or meditation. To do this, she must be in a safe, calm, place (usually her bedroom) surrounded by candles, and after she has done protection and cleansing spells. This ability allows her to have access to and conversations with the Covens ancestors' spirits'. Lilith can talk to the spirits of Coven Council members; With permission from a descended relative, and that same descendant being there at the time of the spell, Lilith has the ability to speak to all of the Covens ancestors.
Languages: Lilith can hear and speak any and all languages, if she is spoken to first in a foreign language. She can also read all 'written' languages, but only if she is holding a physical copy of it, such as a book. She cannot read other languages online. She cannot read hieroglyphics and the like. She can communicate telepathically with all mammals.
Mind Reading: If Lilith is looking at a person, she has the ability to read their current, passing thoughts. She can only do this for about three minutes, and it gives her a splitting headache after. It also leaves her body in a vulnerable state, as she tends to zone out and just stand or sit in one place like a zombie. Lilith cannot access any 'deep' or subconscious thoughts - only what you think while she's inside your head.
Abjuration (5):
Banishment: Lilith has the ability to banish up to three enemies to different dimensional planes. This spell lasts for thirty minutes. When banishing a target, Lilith either sends them back to their home realm, or the 'Shadow Realm' for holding. After the spell breaks, the target will return to it's previous location. Even though she can banish three targets in total, she must do a different spell each time she wishes to banish someone/something. (The shadow realm is just a black room, with no ending, and no beginning. The closer you walk to the walls, the further they seem away from you).
Aid/Healing: Lilith can heal people through Abjuration. She can heal cuts, bruises, scraps, broken bones, and the like. The time it takes to complete the spell depends on the severity of the wound. She cannot heal life threatening injuries, or amputations. Lilith can also help with mental ailments. If you're feeling sad, she can give you a boost of happiness. If you're nervous, she can calm you. So on and so forth. Lilith cannot cause feelings like sadness and anger. In order to heal anyone physically or mentally, Lilith has to make physical contact with the person.
Projection Shield: Lilith can project a 7 foot by 8 foot shield in front of her that deflects and absorbs enemy attacks. She can project this shield up to five feet away from herself, leaving room for her allies to also get behind the shield and protect themselves. This Shield only lasts for ten minutes at a time.
Personal Shield: Lilith's personal shield is a faint blue, shimmering glow that flows all over her body. This shield also deflects and absorbs enemy attacks, leaving her nearly invulnerable for thirty minutes. Lilith can only use this power once a day.
On the outside looking in, Lilith is one of the most happy, socially awkward people that you could ever meet. Always saying something goofy, and having a way with words, she's the kind of girl to have a handful of friends - though she prefers spending her time alone. Having social anxiety is perhaps the reason for her social awkwardness, which causes her to say and do really random things in public. Lilith is the type of girl that may come off as a bitch from time to time. Rather this is because of her sarcastic remarks or the way she rolled her eyes - well, that's up to you.
The fun, somewhat shy, bubbly side is the mask that Lilith wears on a day to day basis. However, that's the cover-up that she puts on. The truth is, Lilith suffers from depression. The girl tends to keep her emotions bottled inside and simply does her best to release them through writing, studying, and marijuana usage. Hot headed as they come, it's a fortunate thing that Lilith knows when to bite her tongue. If she blows up on you, you've had that shit coming for a long while.
Lilith is a very loyal person, and will do practically anything for her friends. She doesn't trust or get attached to too many people, so when and if you hurt her, expect her to cut you out of her life completely. A promise means everything, and she will never break one. Lilith is honest to her core, and her respect is earned. She has no time for cruel or false intentions, and expects people to treat her with that same respect.
She is typically found reading or listening to music. She enjoys YA novels like The Maze Runner, Harry Potter, and the like; There's also a good mix of adult novelists like Stephen King. With a close emotional connection to the night sky, Lilith enjoys spending hours outside at night staring at the stars. An even stronger connection to the ocean, she has no hesitation with driving to the coast for the weekend. Stubborn as can be, she sometimes has trouble accepting things as how they are. Her witty remarks often get her called sharp tongued; her dark humor winds up in her getting called crazy here and there.
The young woman hates drama, gossip, and any other thing of the sort - though she has no problem listening to it. She just doesn't want to be an actual part of it. Of course, if you ask her how she is doing, you will receive a great and a goofy thumbs up. Not being able to express herself truthfully angers her to no end, though, just like her true feelings, she doesn't let it show. In short, the girl is a half read book. To know her, you must first know the whole story.
History/Bio:
Lilith's mother, Claire, was an Invocation Witch, specializing in water, wind, and electricity manipulation. Lilith never knew her father, seeing as he fled when he heard the news that Claire was pregnant. All Lilith knows of her father is that he was a Transformation and Divination witch. Lilith had a relatively happy childhood, though the voices in her head always drove her a little crazy. When she was little, her mother used to say that this was her conscious speaking to her, and for a long time that's what Lilith believed. Born and raised for the first ten years of her life in a small, Western North Carolina town, Claire and Lilith moved to Tanner Washington after Claire's mother, Christine, was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Claire spent long hours at the hospital working as an ER nurse, often leaving Lilith to be taken care of by her grandfather, John Montgomery. John was a Necromancy Witch, way, way back in the day; While he didn't use his powers very often any more due to his age, John was and still is a force to be reckoned with - especially when it comes to his granddaughter. While Claire taught Lilith everything that she could, John is the one who Lilith truly thanks for teaching her what she knows about Magic.
Christine passed when Lilith was twelve, and Claire died in a car crash when Lilith was fourteen. This left Lilith to be taken care of completely by her grandfather. John raised Lilith to be strong and independent. Knowing that he wouldn't be there to take care of Lilith one day, he wanted to make sure that he did everything that he could to make sure that she would succeed. He lent her old grimoires, trained with her, and most importantly - he never made her feel like she was crazy. It took a long time for Lilith to realize the voices that she was hearing were her spirit guides, and her grandfather was the only one that never brushed her off, or treated her like she belonged in an asylum. John taught Lilith how to cook, clean, change the oil in her car, and many other basic life skills. He also gave her chores on the family ranch that the live on, making sure that she had a good work ethic and learned discipline.
Lilith's reputation in high school was pretty much non existent. Known as a chameleon, Lilith could go anywhere and talk to anyone, and blend in with any crowd - but only if she was feeling confident enough to do so. She attended quite a handful of parties, and blended in with the stoners. She never had the desire to participate in any sports or clubs, already busy enough with her chores at home and practicing magic. Lilith's presence in the Coven is very well known, and she has always been sought out by other witches and warlocks in times of guidance.
Lilith has zero desire to work for 'the man' - which is why she never went to college. While she had always planned to do so, once she had graduated, Lilith realized she had no idea what she actually wanted to do with her life. She knows that one day she will inherent the ranch, but is that really what she wants to dedicate her life to?
Has a septum piercing, nipple piercings, and ear lobe piercings. She also has an industrial and helix piercing in her right ear. She doesn't wear her septum ring often.
Lilith's all time favorite food is Crab Rangoon, and she will accept this as a form of payment. Taco Bell can also be used to bribe her.
Works on the family ranch, known to the town as Rocky River Ranch. They sell cattle, crops, chickens and horses. The ranch does employ seasonal and full time workers. The is made up of 1000 acres of land. The land holds access to large river, rolling fields, and access to mountain ranges.
For actual income, Lilith is a bartender at Huskers Bar & Grill on Main Street.

Been at this game for a good while now. Starting RPing at the tender age of 15 back when Bebo was a thing. A year later I found myself forum Roleplaying and haven't really looked back since. Over these past ten years I have done practically every kind of RP you could imagine from Nation RPs and Arena RPs to 1x1s and Large group RPs. My last RP hobby was fighting RPs, which I have now decided to leave behind in order to pursue more SoL style Rps.
Outside of RP I am an aspiring writer, despite being terrible with words, as well as an avid gamer. If I am not on discord with the Guild or RPing in some way, I am probably on either my PlayStation or on Steam. Moved into D&D and ended up starting a podcast that has been an interesting journey.

Starting RPing at the tender age of 15 back when Bebo was a thing. A year later I found myself forum Roleplaying and haven't really looked back since. Over these past ten years I have done practically every kind of RP you could imagine from Nation RPs and Arena RPs to 1x1s and Large group RPs. My last RP hobby was fighting RPs, which I have now decided to leave behind in order to pursue more SoL style Rps.<br><br>Outside of RP I am an aspiring writer, despite being terrible with words, as well as an avid gamer. If I am not on discord with the Guild or RPing in some way, I am probably on either my PlayStation or on Steam.
