Bio

I'm an adult with a family and responsibilities that take priority, as well as mental health issues that can cause me to not get on this site for periods of time. Just know I will get back to you - hopefully within a few days. Right now my schedule is in flux until I get everything figured out properly so I cannot make promises to respond quickly.

If you've come here looking to RP, please note right now I'm not accepting any new projects. Thanks for the interest, and I wish you luck on your quest.

I recently started working on getting published, and have self published one story so far. Check it out on Amazon - Into the Night by Alexia Wynd. You can also check out more of my work - short stories and the like - at my recently started Patreon: patreon.com/storiestocaptivate

"Guys?" The ANP piped up as the group discussed how to get to Abeneraaa Harbor. The first time it seemed to be ignored. So it put up an arm and waved it as it tried again. "Guys! Hey. Pay attention to me!"

Kaden put a hand up to dismiss the offered cookie from Lavinia. He was perfectly happy to let her pay his way. Asher wanting to pay his own way was no matter to him. It was perfectly fine to him however they all got to the place together. Hell, it was fine with him if they all ended up in Abeneraaa Harbor separately as long as the job got done. The problem was, the stupid machine was flailing and trying to get someone's attention.

He sighed and turned his attention back down to the robot. "What is it now?"

"Well, it's great you guys want to get there fast, but Avedis said he didn't think commercial transportation was a good way to get there."

Kaden could almost feel the twitch start in his eye. "And why not?"

"Well I'm not exactly something everyone sees every day. So seeing me twice would bring more attention than you want."

Another sigh escaped Kaden as the mage hung his head. "Of course. Escort job," he muttered. Because it couldn't just be that easy. Looking at the other two, he crossed his arms and focused his attention on Asher. "Looks like you're lucky to save that hard earned coin." His attention divided between the two. "Okay, so we get a wagon to pull this stupid thing or one of you two can carry it, then we'll cut due east. There aren't much more than hiking trails through that wood without taking main roads, but it's the quickest way without buying passage on transport. Sound good?" He looked at Lavinia. "Up for a bit of walking?" He looked between the two mages and the machine before nodding. "Good."

"Who want's breakfast? Best way to start the day is with a large meal. Help build up your strength to fight off bandits and hooligans that might want to use me for their own nefarious purposes!"

Leon hadn't gotten a chance to really respond before the newest member of the guild approached to offer her services. Ria didn't manage to get much conversation out of the girl aside from learning her name and that she was trying to get in touch with Zenith, but by the time Ria had been able to get Zenith's attention to try to help make that work out she had forgotten about it. Until now, oh what awful timing since they both seemed to be set to go out on jobs. Maybe once they both returned from jobs she would be able to make sure the girl could actually talk to Zen.

Still, Ria's smile brightened at the prospect of working with the newest member too. "Yeah? That'd be great! Another set of hands would be great. The basics of the job is there's a bit of a student rebellion in Era University, and we've been requested by the Dean to go help disperse the rabble before it gets too out of hand. We would like the approach this with the intentions of ending it as nonviolent as possible, though there is a chance it will turn into a fight. If you are sure you want to help, then we can certainly have you come along."

It was only after she'd given the introduction of the job did she realize she was likely the only one at the table that knew who everyone was. An apologetic smile slid onto her face for a moment. "Oh, my, right. I don't think you two have met yet. Akemi Desdemona, this is Leon Aldehart. Akemi joined up with us just the other day. I think between the three of us we should definitely be able to take on some rebellious students." She stood, still smiling. "So if you both are ready, we can head out to make sure we get there as soon as possible."
Great set up
@Aeolian okay. Move him over

@Aeolian
So you did well with making the changes J8 requested.
But I think with you listing his mother as apprehensive of him going out to become more skilled with magic, her handing over all her keys - as implied - might be a stretch still.

Reduce his starting keys to 2 gold, and 5 silver to start. The rest can go on a "waiting list" that will come with character development.

Only other edit is to add another weakness.
His heart condition and weak body are directly connected. If he didn't have the heart condition, he wouldn't be so weak according to his history. I do understand the point of highlighting them separate from each other, so you dont have to remove either weakness or combine them. Just add one unrelated to his physical health or him being a wimp.

If you want to discuss either of these edits, feel free to DM me and we can chat. Let me know here or ping me in chat when the changes are made and I'll give it another look for approval.

Asher followed. If only there'd been someone he could have placed a bet with, he could have made some money. Maybe some other time. Guy seemed like he had a good head. At least there was one bonus. If what he'd read about the weird chick was correct, at least there was someone else that could fight if it came to it. It wouldn't come to it, though. he'd heard about plenty of escort missions that were just paranoid people trying to make sure no one made off with their goods. This was going to be as simple as a walk through a city; if it turned out otherwise, well hopefully they were challenging enough to make it worth his attention.

"Guys! Hey, guys! Wait..." The ANP unit called as it bounced from one leg to the other in effort to catch up to all the taller beings that were supposed to be staying with it. "You know where you're going, right?"

"For now, we're getting out of here before the stupid becomes contagious." They had people standing outside their guild knocking on doors to be let in, like it were some private establishment, being tormented by little kids. Sure, he was taking some of the crazy but apparently that couldn't be helped.

Kaden stopped walking when Lavinia caught up to him with her crazy. He closed his eyes and let out a breath before turning to face the hooded mage. "Look, chick, I asked you to come along 'cause you were listed in the papers to be pretty handy in a fight and the chick I got info on the guild from said you were nice. So keep that crazy inside and this job will go easy as cake. If you can't manage, go back to whatever you were going to be doing, and this guy and I will take care of it. So eat the damn cookies, and just keep your mouth shut until we get back to the guild."

The ANP popped up between the two. "Cookies are ready." The machine handed off a plate of hot fried mini donut balls to Lavinia. It turned to acknowledge Kaden again. "Are we going to be walking the whole way to Abeneraaa Harbor?"

Kaden sighed. "No, just until we meet up with Avedis. Then we'll look at where we're at and determine best way to Abeneraaa Harbor. So where'd the old man tell you for us to meet him."

"Meet him? We're not supposed to meet him. You're supposed to get me to the orphanage."

Kaden pinched the bridge of his nose. "So where the hell did he go after he threw you through our window?" This whole thing made him regret not grabbing that stupid actress protection job. At least then he'd have something to look at on occasion.

"Back to his workshop I'd assume."

"And where is that?"

"Outside Abeneraaa Harbor. So that brings me back to the point. Are we walking all the way there? I'm meant for only short distance walking. That means I can't be expected to walk all the way there..."

Kaden let out a hard sigh. "We'll get transportation to Abeneraaa Harbor and you'll show us where Avedis' workshop is. Then we'll make sure you get to the orphanage." He looked at Lavinia and Asher. "Either of you have money to afford your own tickets?"

Leon was going to call his friend. Hopefully she would actually have some information on the group causing problems. That would certainly make it easier. Otherwise, Ria supposed they could interrupt Gwen preparing for her own job, or maybe get Lilliana to actually say more than a few words to them, regarding what they remembered of when they went there. It could be the same people, and if so they would have the best information about what might happen. Well, maybe not. They likely went in fighting, whereas Ria knew the best odds she and Leon had were to try talking things out.

While he was off getting ready, she went over to finally ask Torys to approve them taking the job. "Master Torys, Leon and I would like to take the job to help mitigate the student rebellion at Era university." She sported her usual cheerful smile as she handed over the flier to Torys.

Torys took the flier and looked at it then Ria. Putting the flier to the side, she shrugged lightly. "Sure, it could just be the two of you. I'm sure you'll be able to handle it if you are willing to fight and both of you put effort into it. Though you may want to discuss a potential fight strategy with Leon, just in case. It's broken down to fights every other time we've sent people. You shouldn't expect any less. But if you both buckle down and can both use your heads on how to deal with the students before you get into the fights, you should do fine."

Ria managed to keep her smile from slipping, despite the feeling of defeat kind of settling into her gut. Yes, everyone else that went ended up fighting, but...that could just be because that was their approach. Gwen and Lilliana were both fighters, not diplomats. "I'll be sure to talk things over with Leon before we finally set out. He's calling a friend now to double check what's going on at the campus right now." She put her hand up as a wave before heading off to where the two had planned to meet up.

She didn't have to wait long. Leon was back with information before she expected. He kicked off the list with a name she recognized all too well. Giselle Kaiser. The very mention of the name made the smile vanish from her face. Giselle Kaiser. She repeated the name in her head as her gaze grew distant. The other information passed through one ear and out the other. Giselle Kaiser, her cousin, was alive. She was alive, and she was in Era. For whatever reason she was helping with a revolt among students. What could have happened in the past four years that would lead to such unruly behavior? Oh no, is it because we didn't look for her? Surely she wasn't part of the last revolt. Gwen would have told me. She must have been hiding. This must be a new team.

Blinking back to life when the name Zana was repeated, Ria forced a smile back on her face and focused on Leon. "We might be able to have an edge in the fact we know what they can do and they don't know what we can. The idea still stands to try to reason with these individuals instead of fight." Especially Giselle; I couldn't bare the thought of having to fight her. "Is there a person you want to ask to join? Or just see if someone approaches us?"

There were no issues with the team he listed. That was the first thing Kaden noted. He didn't doubt he'd be approved for the job, just that maybe someone would question the crazy he was unwittingly taking with him. But that was fine. He'd roll with it. No different than tagging some random from Hydra when he realized a job might be bigger than just him. The smile pulled higher on one side as he laughed. "Sure thing, boss lady. I never let a customer weasel out of paying." He flashed her a better smile. "Barring having to do something illegal to get the cash," he added with a wink.

Straightening up, he looked back over at Lavinia and Asher. Yup, this team up might make him regret it. He was definitely going to have to ask someone he might believe about people in the guild, because the person that offered up all the information he currently had on people not previously featured in papers and archives had lied.

"Lavinia! Asher! Get your shit together. We're out the door. Asher, you can play with the ANP more once we're on the move. ANP..." It was definitely weird addressing a machine. "Come on. We're heading out." He put a finger up in the air and drew an invisible circle as a sign to round themselves out.

They'd follow. At least, the ANP would follow. Asher he was pretty sure would because of the ANP. Lavinia, who the hell knew? He could do this on his own, 'cause he was awesome like that, and clearly supposedly Asher wasn't going to be detrimental. So the two of them would have no problem if Lavinia dropped out. She wasn't going to drop out. Kaden kind of knew that. From what he'd seen, she was stubborn. She'd come of her own declaration, but she'd tag along. Which might complicate shit. Dammit. This is way too much consideration for getting a talking food machine from Crocus to Abeneraaa Harbor.

He pivoted and headed straight for the door. Only for it to open as he reached for the handle. His brows shot up, and he froze in place as another new arrival stopped mid-motion as well. It lasted a second, before his cocky smile wiped the surprise clean from his face. "Damn right." He passed the other guy with a laugh and a quick pat on the shoulder. "Laters."

He had everything he needed already. Once he found where this Avedis guy ran off to after breaking the stupid window, he'd have a better idea of how the hell they were getting from here to Abeneraaa. Kaden sure as hell wasn't up for walking all the way there. A bit of mental math confirmed he had enough to get them all somewhere, but he wasn't going to be happy about it. But if I just take the thing and Avedis and complete the job, that'll blacklist me from taking other potential partners if I do think a job.... He groaned quietly to himself. Starting the job was involving way too much thinking than it should. So he settled on just waiting to see where they were when they finally found the stupid asshole that broke a window of a guild that was supposed to be helping him.

Ria listened to Leon as he went on about the locations. She liked hearing him talk about Era, and his experiences there. Maybe when they were done with the latest rebellion at the school, they could spend a bit of time there. Surely Leon wanted to spend a bit of time with some of his old school friends, and she certainly wouldn't mind spending time browsing the shops. If that store had something that might interest Lavinia like Leon suggested, perhaps it would be worth checking out. Lavina was always looking for something good to read, and perhaps there were recipe books Zenith hadn't read before and things on Fae language she could find for Leon, and...

The sound of shattering glass helped pull Ria's attention from the thoughts swirling through her head. She blinked, watching the child sized robot as it bounced from activating next to Zenith to running over to the crowd near the board. Peculiar. Even for a guild that had the lively characters they had it was odd.

But it seemed harmless and Asher could very well handle a machine if it got dangerous. A slight shrug put a smile back on the water mage's face and her attention returned to Leon. "Well, the flier says we need to touch base Harvard's thought projection on the University Belt, so we should start there. But perhaps you should call your friend and make sure they are willing and able to help us understand the current state of things from a student's perspective as well. A rebellion is likely different than what a professor or teacher believes it to be, and students are more directly affected than staff. Plus, if you know who the people are and what magic they have, we might be able to plan out a strategy. However - " she stressed the word - "I think going in as a force of diplomacy, even if people recognize you and whatever negative connotations that may bring, will be better for the school grounds and students within in the long run. We should only resort to violence if that is the only course of action."

It wasn't just because she was leery about being the combative one between the two, though there was that. Ria preferred trying to resolve this peacefully. If they had powerful or dangerous magic, and it came to a fight, it could cause damage to the school and the buildings around it. Any fight of any level could potentially injure bystanders, and that was a risk she desired to avoid. The best outcome would be through diplomacy. The second best would be having support from people also concerned about the well being of others to help keep the area clear of any potential innocents getting injured.

Kaden shrugged and started to look around the guild for other members that he might be able to tag in. It wasn't that he couldn't handle a stupid escort mission on his own. Of course he could take on whatever petty thugs were going to go after whatever an ANP thing was. Hell, he was doing these louses a favor letting them tag along!

But then she continued as she approached. His brows went up, thinking back through the dictionary of useless brainy words he'd stored away somewhere in the recesses to try to remember what the hell plebeians was. Ultimately, his brain gave up when she shut her mouth. He shrugged, wiping the stupid look off his face. "Whatever. I'm the stronger mage, we're going to go with what I say. If you don't like it you can s- "

That was when a robot smashed - or rather was thrown - through a window in the guild hall.

His attention diverted from the cloak loving psychopath - definitely not sweetheart the purple haired girl described her as - to the machine that produced alcohol from thin air and offered it up to the two of them. That stupid look of surprise was back on his face. He knew it, but he couldn't help it. Is this what we're helping protect? Shit...is there a different frickin' job.... Kaden gave his head a quick shake. "Uh, no. I don't drink before a job." No, he chose this, he was putting a team together. They were doing this.

Asher still hadn't said anything about accepting the quest, but he certainly looked curious enough at the machine that he was pretty certain that was happening. Right, so that was three. Three was a good enough number for the job. From what he'd read in the papers, Lavinia had done a decent job on the dragon and from what Ria said, Asher had spells that could be useful as defense. That was all he needed to know going into the job. Maybe they wouldn't end up in a fight, but if they did - there was no way they wouldn't succeed. Easy money.

"Right, well. You get friendly with...the machine we're escorting..." Kaden said as he snatched back the flier for the job. "While I go officially have us assigned." At least some things didn't change between guilds. You still had to take leave from the guild master instead of just grab a flier and go.

He didn't wait for responses. Instead he just headed over to the bar and stopped beside Lilliana. Of all the people in the guild that Ria described, the dragon slayer among them was one of the easiest. Always in a mask, rarely speaks. If he wasn't about to leave on a job, he had half a mind to see if that last part was actually true. Later, he promised himself. After tearing his eyes from the girl beside him, his natural cocky smile was back in place as he handed over the flier to Torys. "I'm taking Lavinia and Asher on this one. Asher's already acquainting himself with the ANP unit as we speak."

Another beautiful day in Crocus. Birds chirping, people bustling about, beautiful woman sleeping in his bed. Kaden certainly had gotten used to this in the past few years living here as opposed to his dad's place in Oshibana. Though, the past few weeks had been something else. First it was hearing about some new upstart independent guild that apparently had been working from right in this very town taking down a dragon. He hadn't thought twice about the rumor. Instead of going to Steel Hydra to find himself a job like he would any other day, he went to check out this supposed 'traditional' guild. It was exactly how he expected, and a week later he'd decided to switch from just the same shit different beasts kinda work and left Steel Hydra to join the - slightly infamous from the chatter around Hydra at the time - guild Fenixtear.

Today was much like the days he'd been in Crocus since. He'd gotten back late from a recent quest, met a lovely lady at a pub, and was waking up after a fun evening with - Shino? Sheena? Sha-Whatever, didn't matter - he was up and showered and ready for another day. Blondie - served as as good a name as any - walked into the main room of his apartment while fixing her hair up in a messy bun. "We should do that again some time," she muttered, zipping up the back of her dress.

Kaden tilted his head to watch her as she bent over and slipped on her flats. "Yeah." He fixed his gaze to where her face should be before she finished turning around to look at him. A smile spread quickly on his lips, adding a slight twinkle to his golden eyes. "Last night was fun. Definitely should make it happen again some time. But, ya know, got a lot of business at the guild these days..."

The girl smirked and walked over to the coffee table in the middle of the living room. She collected her purse, pulling out a small scrap of paper and a pen before writing something on it. Walking back over to him, she tucked it in his front pocket while smiling coyly at him. "Call me next time you're free." A wink, and she was out the door.

A quick shake of his head got the grin from flirty to cocky as he pulled the number out of his pocket. Shanice. So close. He pulled out his cell and typed in the number into his phone with a special note booty under the contact. One last quick check in the mirror to make sure he was good, and Kaden was out the door.

Ten minutes later, partially running and dodging people on the street, and he shouldered open the doors to the guildhall having forgotten to slow down at the last few steps before just barreling in. He immediately corrected to a stop and grinned at the room. "Man, you guys really do sleep in, huh? Looking like nothing exciting is going on..." He chuckled to himself and continued straight on through the hall to the quest board. If memory served, there was...Shit He looked around quickly before spotting the flier in Holly's hand. Sonavabee. Okay, his attention turned back to the board. What else is there?

Then his gaze landed on it. Well, not quite it but at least a good enough supplement to not taking an S class mission. That would have been golden, but...He snatched the flier for escorting some dude around with an ANP to...an orphanage? Okay, that'd get him points with someone.

Kaden didn't even look at Asher before placing a hand on the other mage's shoulder. "Doesn't matter what other people are going on. You're coming with me." He shoved the flier at the other man before turning around as his golden gaze searched for someone else to take along. "Lavinia - get your shit together! You're coming to Abeneraaa Harbor with me and Asher."
