Bio

Okay, let's see; I started roleplaying by post way back when that meant writing a turn down by hand, sticking it in an envelope and sending it to a GM through the plain mail, not email. Games I remember with fondness are Saturnalia, Amaranth, Absolute Heroes....

I'm a wannabe writer and love inventing and developing characters and worldbuilding. Fantasy, horror (supernatural) and superhero are probably my favourite genres. I'm not adverse to a bit of cyberpunk or space opera, but hard sci-fi with lots of technobabble leaves me cold.

I can be found lurking on the Nano site or YouTube when I'm not spending time exclusively in the real world and have the same username everywhere, so if you see a Shaitarn on another site feel free to wave.

@Tombprince Sorry, didn't notice your update! Poor Stefan is fine (if tormented).

@Fetzen Ooh, that's an idea! Thank you, I think we'll have to do that!
@Athinar I was actually thinking we need a few older supernaturals who would be familiar with most of the others and be able to get in touch with them; Han would probably be one. If you're volunteering Amam as another, that'd be much appreciated. And if you want to create an enclave of NPC cannon fodder undead, then go ahead.

If any of you want to decide your character knows various other supernaturals, then feel free to do so - just make sure to check with them first!

Also, I was thinking of having a few areas that are officially 'sanctuaries' - non-humans of any kind can meet there under a guarantee of truce. What does everyone else think? One would definitely be a pub :).

Here's the first character I'll be dropping into this. Apologies for the continued delay - I should be able to get this up and running tomorrow, provided my laptop will cooperate. I'll be putting in one or two more, though I don't imagine they'll be that important (or long-lived. We need victims...)

@Cuccoruler

I think you should change Sven's talents to 'He believes he is unmatched when it comes to coming up with tactical manoeuvres' (because who knows how good everyone else is? :)).

Anyway, he's accepted. Oh, and the Queen is reported to have once said "There are dark forces at work in this country about which we have no knowledge." (hmmm - were-corgis?)
The enormously large human in a painfully garish green tunic that sudden waddled out, throwing things about and speaking far too loudly, was a bit of a shock and Torao stared at him for a moment. I had no idea humans could get so big! He thought. He was slightly alarmed when the human advancd on the smaller of the two bird-girls - she looked so delicate he was alarmed that the human would accidentally crush her. The human's name caused his ears to tilt slightly. Waldo Maria'Shante du Blanche. This was the human who had agreed to lease out the inn to the beastkin who had been chosen to study for the year. I hope he's not staying with us, he thought. He looked at the inn. I'm not sure the floor would be able to withstand the weight.

He glanced at the other beastkin, to see their reaction to this gross human. He caught the rabbit's eye and was slightly taken aback when he flicked an offensive gesture the tigerkin's way. Affronted, he managed to supress his immediate response - screw you too, long ears! - although his tail lashed furiously. Did the rabbit think because he was so damn tall he could insult predators with impunity? Torao remembered a favourite saying of his grandfather's about large prey animals: the bigger they are, the more there is to eat.

Not that he would try eating a fellow student - after all, that wouldn't impress people, and there was no way he would give humans more so-called proof about the barbarity of the beastkin. He made a graceful formal bow to the human, hand touching forehead, lips and heart as he bowed from the waist. "Master Blanche; I thank you for your hospitality." He spoke politely and formally, with a very slight accent.
@FringedWolf Any player wanting to cause their character problems is fine by me! Hmm, perhaps the police could be investigating the homes of one of the dead supernaturals and find one of Ben's guns there and be curious as to what's been done to it. As for carrying a gun in public, just bear the risks in mind (now why are the words 'stop and search' echoing through my mind? >:))

@Fetzen Sure, nightvision makes sense and isn't a problem game balance-wise I don't think. @yoyohayli, if you want to assume Adam has night vision as well, then that's fine. And I imagine we can bring in a shopkeeper who's able to make clothes for the non-human; actually, one of my characters would be perfect for that!

@TheIrishJJ I forgot to ask: when Seamus shifts back from wolf to human, is he wearing the clothing he had on when he first shifted, or does he come back naked?
Really sorry, I've been away doing family stuff (that's public holidays for you) and snatching time online when I could.

Anyway, back now, so –
@RaeoftheLight, @Fetzen, @Tombprince, @TheIrishJJ and @yoyohayli. All your characters are fine even if I think one of you is a disturbed person who likes torturing his characters ([cough] Tombprince [cough]) and I now really want to fit giant maggots into this somewhere.

Just a few points about the others:

@fringedWolf fine, but I just thought I should flag up a warning about the UK's gun laws - anyone hoping to get a gun legally has to go through a *lot* of security checks (I assume his background would presumably cover that) and it is not acceptable for a civilian to carry a gun anywhere; draw a gun in public, and the police will be on you like white on rice.

@Will Reiley is okay, but I'm a little cautious about Yorrick who seems a little too powerful. I'd like his ability to push people through portals reduced so all non-humans have to be physically forced through portals and they all have a chance to resist otherwise it's getting a bit too close to godmodding for me to feel comfortable with.

@Queentze I'd like to see a limit on Lar's curse abilities - I assume that after a while the curse will wear off? Again the idea of characters being stuck somewhere/having their heads permanently messed with is too much like godmodding for me to feel relaxed about it. I'm sorry if I seem to be going on about this, but I've seen other RPs fall apart because of things like this.

And since Athinar and Fetzen asked, I'm happy for powers to remain vague (since I agree with you about flexibility and story reasons) so long as the 'no godmodding' rule is adhered to (although if you've spoken to the other guy through PM and you're happy to go though some sort of mindslave plot purely for the fun of it, then by all means go for it).

And yes, I'm aware giving the limits I've specified on other characters I'm a hypocrite. Sorry.

I'm going to keep this up for another 24 hours or so to give myself time to get a character or two up (they'll be fairly background characters I imagine) and try getting an IC up.

If I've forgotten anything, give me a shout.
Oh god xD
Am I the only one who thinks it'd be funny to have a culture shock regarding that?
Lapis two-finger saluting to acknowledge the other...
And Torao interpreting it as a "F*** you" because that's what it means in his region? xD

I might have to do that now, Lapis basically giving Torao the finger! Because why have characters starting off on the right foot if you can have them starting off on the wrong foot? :)
Edit: Yay tiger noticed bunnyzilla XD

Well he's kind of hard to miss!

Incidentally, are you using the British/English meaning of 'the two-fingered salute'? Torao might take offence at that!
