They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@LadyRunic If Falk never has waged war, why do the other courts fear him so? Clearly there's something there that /can/ be brought out, and possibly has in the past. You've portrayed his outward reputation as cold and unkind, but if that's not accurate, the fey than know to look past mere stories would also know better. Sini puts more stock in recorded history than in stories, though she remembers there is a grain of truth to all tales. I'm not sure what her opinion of Falk is anymore, given what I've read.

@Belle Shame Sini wasn't the first to turn up at Arys's court, but ah well. She'll be there soon enough. ^.^ And she'll get to make friends with Aisling as well! Excellent. So her name is not known to any, then, Lady Runic? In that case Sini will either call her the name chosen by Arys, or ask Aisling to choose a calling for herself. Oh, but this should be fun~ And the goblin is cuuuuute. I do note that it says Grexx has served Arys since she was crowned, but he's "a hundred years or so" and she's ruled for 500. I know we're not being precise, but that's a touch confusing.

@Prince of Seraphs Dear gods, I'm a terrible person. Now I've got Sini wondering if she can find a way to engineer permanent peace, once she discovers that Fall is indeed trustworthy though hard to persuade. *wicked grin* This should be fun. She now has a long-term goal to work towards, instead of a goal of maintenance! <3 She'll let her winged observer go as soon as he leaves the circle of stones, and rejoin him to be filled in on what happened, and the new assignment he has for her. ^.^ I can't waaaaiiiiiit~

@BlackPanther
Sini: Lord Summer, whatever you do...please don't start a war. *sigh*
Angie passed Gadget on his way to breakfast. “Oi, Gadget, didja finish tha’ mod’fied crossbow ya were talkin’ ‘bout? If’n ya did, jus’ lemme know, I’m lookin’ for’ard t’ checkin’ i’ ou’!” The girl didn’t linger over the greeting, only pausing for a brief exchange before continuing back towards Olyvar’s section of the camp with the other kids that were helping fetch breakfast for them.

Delshad didn’t frown too long at the young smith, instead shaking his head. “I will never figure out where you put it, on that scrawny frame of yours, Gadget. But try to remember to wipe your hands first, next time. Charcoal is not very tasty, yes?” The cook too moved off after only a moment, going to bid Gwen a good morning and hand her the compostable refuse. “I know you will be planting soon. Perhaps you and I, or some of the others who know mint from ivy, can go out to find plants for your garden. I have some seeds from last year, but not many. Let me know what works.” His wide grin gleamed white in his dark face as he patted her shoulder. Gwen might not have many friends in camp, nor much enthusiasm for anything he could determine, but that was no reason to be unkind to her.

The next to stumble in was a very bedraggled Summer. No sooner had he guided the young woman to a seat and set a mug of something hot and invigorating in her hands than his attention was demanded by a tug on his apron. “Ah, good morning!” Delshad bent down to scoop Sunny up, lifting her high into the air before settling her on one hip for a hug. “How’s my favorite little sunbeam, hm? Have you eaten yet? Yes, yes, you can help with the dishes, if you like. But not until /after/ you’ve had something to eat -- you’re a big girl, but you need to eat well to make sure you keep growing big and strong, yes indeed!” He started to turn to head back into the main area of the makeshift kitchen, but his finely tuned awareness of all that happened in his little kingdom focused first on a slightly ragged head of black hair. “Lucas.” Dark eyes took in the basket on the smaller man’s arm, but the cook made no comment about what was almost certainly a violation of the rules. “When you’re done seeing to the waif, the dishes will be waiting.” Was that a glint of amusement? He’d turned away too quickly to be sure. “Come, Sunny, let’s get you something to eat!’

The little girl under the table hadn’t been expecting to encounter Prince so early, but she wasn’t upset when he approached her. Perhaps her taste in people was a bit odd, but Bits avoided most of the thieves with a handful of exceptions, and the disgraced noble was one of them. She’d been creeping from table to table, trying to get close enough to reach the kitchen without having to deal with too many of the others. It’d been slow going, though at last most of the early risers seemed to have left. A small hand grabbed the basket when it was set down, accompanied by a glimpse of the intensely blue eyes that had earned her a special nickname from the man. Perhaps a minute later, a mussed head emerged from beneath the table, followed by the rest of the spindly child. She climbed up onto the bench next to Prince, deciding that if he was there then she would eat while sitting properly at the table. The ragged kitten doll she was never without was set carefully where it could watch her eat, and while Bits didn’t sit right next to the man, she was close enough that it counted as sitting with. A shy half-smile greeted him before the girl let her hair hide her face again.

Paige had returned to the tent while Miry put away her flute, to take care of a few last-minute things. When the flap opened she turned, expecting her young mistress. Not Winter -- and with no shirt! He had a sheen of sweat and possibly river water on his muscles, and in one spot it was dripping down toward -- no, no! Paige forced her face into some semblance of composure, though she was unable to hide the blush that spread across her cheeks. Let him think that it was caused by the unseemly circumstances, nothing more. And then she flushed darker in embarrassment, ducking her head. “Ah, actually...I may have taken that tunic...” She gestured awkwardly to where her sewing kit lay, the missing tunic visible in a neatly folded pile beneath it. “I saw there was a rip in it, yesterday...I thought you would just wear a different one, not try to tear the camp apart looking for it!” The sharp side of her tongue was Paige’s best defense against awkwardness, but it was clear she was quite flustered.
@RomanAria IT DID. T.T But at least there's a post now. ^.^ *scurries off to reply*
@Prince of Seraphs No, she's game. A free pass to Winter sounds good. Just so long as she can return to Spring.

And advising, say, things that could be done to take advantage of Spring -- like she will no doubt tell Nyx about Winter? That sort of thing. She'll advise against them, if she thinks it'll jeopardize a productive relationship, but she won't leave them entirely unsaid. For Winter she'll be more cautious, though. =P

I look forward to this.
@Mogtaki She tried to catch his eye and smile, at least? =P
@Mogtaki Cecil: *ignores AMune completely*

*giggle* She's not going to speak first, but some of the things he just said are making her angry. Hm, I wonder what happens if she gets worked up enough to shove him or shake him or something....*ideas~*
The girl grumbled something indistinct in response to Geoffrey, but at the knock on the door she leapt to her feet. "Ethan!" She opened it and caught at his shirt, half a hug and half a tug. "Ethan, where's Cecil? Did he come back?" It seemed he had, and the Muran wanted her to come downstairs to talk to him. Conflicting emotions played across the child's face. "But...I don't want to stay with Nymira right now. She's mean!" Even word that the woman had apologized didn't completely mollify Amuné, but she at least allowed herself to be persuaded to join the others.

She was glad to see Cecil back, but her eagerness turned into something more awkward when she got closer. She was glad he was back, but she couldn't keep herself from being nervous, and it showed. The girl pressed close to Ethan's side for reassurance, and with him to give her courage, she gave the Machina a brief and rather shy smile. She wasn't willing to be the first to speak, so for now she stayed silent.

“Why would they make it if they want to get rid of it?” That didn’t make much sense to Amuné. “If...if they’re going to destroy the world someone needs to stop them.” She shuddered, pulling her knees closer to her chest, gripping the other girl’s hand very tight. “I don’t like them. They’re scary. I wanna go back h--” The plaintive words cut off abruptly, and the child fell silent. There was no home to go back to. They wouldn’t take her there. Not anymore. The child pulled her hand away and wrapped her arms around herself, biting her lip to keep from sobbing, but she couldn’t keep the tears from her eyes. The world was a very big place and it had only gotten darker while she was in the Stone.

“Nor. I...I’ll try? I’m not good at much of anything...” She fell silent as the woman at the other end of the cave looked their way, looking back only a moment and hunching her shoulders as she dropped her gaze. Once the woman turned her attention back to her rock, Amuné moved closer to the other girl. “Something’s watching. It’s big, and it’s close.” One hand went to grasp Nor’s clothing, seeking comfort from someone she could trust. “I’m scared...what do we do? I don’t want it to find us.”
No we should not. He's stubborn enough to kill himself trying to win.
@Prince of Seraphs Putting Sini in Winter permanently was not what I had in mind. And realize that she'd feel very torn -- on the one hand, she prides herself on being an excellent advisor. On the other, if she advises Winter too well, it may cause problems for Spring. *shrug* I think she can manage that as long as she still gets to move freely back to Spring when she wishes. So she'd be splitting her time between the courts.
