They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@Afro Samurai Yes, usually you wait for DM approval. And he's newer than the others on the team? Has he been around for at least a month or two, or...?

@Kessir Tarkin Izkry will totally be friendly to both Kaneda and Walter. He's that sort of guy. He probably already has made overtures of friendship. Izkry thinks there's enough hating people over slights and perceived slights and would really rather everyone just get along. Everyone is better at something, and everyone is worse at something, and if you really do have to judge people do it by their actions.

...Especially since he knows Bel is actually caring, but nobody else can see it. And she doesn't show it well. And it's a very rough sort of care.

In fact, both his nickname and Belasy's were given by a teacher-turned-friend, the child of Slavic Jews that emigrated to Switzerland before the war, possibly closer to the time of the first world war. Bel actually talks to the guy, that's saying quite a lot. Not that either one knew he was Jewish right away, but when you're the one with the weird powers you kinda find yourself in a minority and that affects your view.

Bel...Bel has enough to hate without worrying about skin tone. She probably quietly eyed both Walter and Kaneda briefly, and then stopped worrying about it. Actually, Kaneda would be more of a rarity for her, since there are a number of Afro-Swiss, though the number increases far more after the war -- and far more in occupied Germany than Switzerland, but eh. *shrugs*

Curse you for making me get lost in more research. *shakes fist*

Post is being written now~
@Afro Samurai Ooh, someone who does his research! *wriggles*
*says the girl that just spent like three hours last night between looking up various musical eras and classical composers, and figuring out when the first ladies were admitted to British colleges. And it was when she should have been sleeping* x.x
Probably posting tomorrow. That's the plan, at least. ^.^
@Afro Samurai Ooh, I like it. Very clever.
@Afro Samurai powersets are usually around one or two things, but have had multiple expressions. For example, Izkry and Anton are electricity/tech, and they can control machines and shoot lightning or shock people. Oscar can control liquids -- freeze them, boil them, move them around. There's a healer, who can also diagnose people just by looking, to some extent, and a guy with superior physical attributes -- strength, speed, and endurance.

Basically, not many, but how you can employ those powers is the fun part. Someone that can talk to animals might be able to train them, have them spy, see through their eyes even, or just have them take messages. A fire user could light or extinguish fires, but also generate heat and grab hot things without being burned. A water user could drown a man just by putting water in his lungs. Like that. ^.^
Cal proceeded to all but fling herself into the mix of people partnering off, leaving Axel high and dry. He didn't seem entirely at ease with it, but too late now. "Required, are you?" Lee echoed, raising an eyebrow. "Then might I have this dance?" She held out a hand, and smiled brightly. It was only a couple steps to a decent spot on the floor, and the woman had no difficulty taking the proper handhold, nor finding the beat. She made a reassuring comment if he was tense, but otherwise she was genuinely curious how good he was.

"She seems nice, if rather exuberant," she commented, easily following Axel's lead. She'd had to teach so many students that had no idea how to signal anything that she was very adept at reading even the smallest change in stance and responded smoothly. The running joke was that she might not be able to see whoever was her partner, but she'd know what he intended almost before he did it.

"It's not a problem, really." She dismissed Axel's concerns about interrupting her class with a small shrug. "I've thought about having drop in sessions, but I can't always tell when people come in, and I really don't want to put bells on it. That'd be disruptive. And unfortunately I really do need the fee to keep this place going. If I opened the doors and didn't keep track, I know there'd be people who took advantage." For a moment her expression clouded. "That's just how it is, y'know? I intend to be here for a good long while, though, and as soon as I'm not on such a shoestring budget, I'd love to let just anyone come.

She chuckled self-consciously. "You don't really need to know all that, though. I have to admit, I'm actually glad you came by. I was worried you might run into more trouble after you left, and it's a relief to know you found your friend alright. So tell me. Not many jobs list dancing in the requirements. What exactly is it you do?"
Amuné fussed drowsily if Ethan tried to take his jacket back when he tucked her in -- it was very likely he was going to need to buy a new one, because she was using it more often than he was. But other than that she barely stirred until someone woke her up. She stretched and rubbed her eyes, and shoved Wyth out of the way enough to slide out of the bed.

Taliya wanted to talk to them again, and she was being mean again. "You can't expect them to fight something when they don't even know what it is!" Amuné protested, her hand tightening on Ethan's. That had been a bad test, and especially with something like a rokorm where there was a special trick to it, it wasn't right expecting them to know how. Maybe everyone fought where Taliya came from but Ethan just had a little training with his guard friends, and that wasn't enough to be any real use. The Ydra in her daddy's tribe always said Muran guards were fat and lazy. They didn't mean it literally, but they just didn't have to face as many things as people that did a lof of traveling.

She was glad to hear that the Magi would be given training, but the news that there was no one to help her was disappointing. A vague lead didn't mean very much. She was looking for her parents -- if there was training on the way that was good but she just wanted her mommy and daddy. Maybe by the time she found them and came back Taliya would have found whoever it was she thought might help. And her magic wasn't /completely/ useless -- she'd warned Ethan, hadn't she, and the others? It was just...unreliable. But that was kinda worse, wasn't it? Amuné chewed at her lip, pulling the draped jacket closer around her shoulders. She didn't want to be hurting people. That was bad, even though you had to sometimes. But could she actually do it? She'd tried, with the Ruin and Water Magi, as useless as that had been in the end. The thought still upset her. "I-I can use a sling," she offered uncertainly. "And Wyth is a good protector if he needs to be."

The moorcat's ears perked up at his name, but it didn't seem anyone actually wanted anything, so he settled his head back on his paws.

Helping out with things seemed reasonable to the Ydran girl. Everyone had to help or things didn't get done. "I can help with cooking," she offered, relieved to be back on solid ground. She smiled up at Taliya. "Or dishes, daddy says I'm better at it than he is because I can get my hands even in cups and stuff, and he can't because his are too big. Or...or...I'm not too good at laundry because the sheets are too big for me to fold without them getting on the ground, but I can sweep, or dust, or help set traps, stuff like that." These were things she was good at. She actually liked cooking and doing dishes, though the latter was not as fun as the former. But if they wanted her to learn something new she could do that too. "Or...um...I don't know if the healers need anyone for errands or anything...." Amuné wasn't sure if that would count as helping or training, but that was what she would like best, though she knew just that wouldn't be enough to be 'pulling her weight'.
@Oak7ree No I mean Max most recently broke out of cover with a sniper nearby because he was trying to save the /last/ guy the sniper shot. Guy was very dead. Or the time he nearly got himself blown up because he's a sucker for a sob story....
@Bright_Ops That sort of altruism can be dangerous. Just ask my squishy doctor, Max. It has nearly gotten him killed more than once!
@Foster Million dollars but? OH YOU MEAN...no. No. That's not what I meant. I meant their PEE you derp. Jeez, I'm not /that/ filthy minded without at least a little provocation.

I should point out that color contacts are a thing, so really changing eye colors isn't that useful. ^.~

Your power works multiple times per person, you goof.

I like my new nickname. <3 ^.^ I like getting nicknames in general.
