Current The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation.

They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@Foster Be a therapist. AND HELLO THERE! *glomps*

@SleepingSilence WAIT YOU'RE HERE TOO?! AND @Lady Selune?! *flailing*

...that does sound pretty useless, @TwelveOf8.

Hm. The ability to change the color of your eyes. ...originally I thought about changing a different thing's color, but I decided...eh, better keep it away from the toilet.
@Oak7ree For mods to the k98, scoped for long distance, for starters. Possibly a collapsible stock, though I know that wasn't really a thing for them. Mostly it's optimized for sniping, and then for mobility and ease of And there's the advantage that these are German standard issue -- fighting behind the lines they'd be able to take ammo off of any German soldier, and it won't mark them as foreign. Additionally the 98k is easier to maintain, and generally more accurate (that's important for Bel). Furthermore, it can be reloaded even when there's still bullets left in the magazine, though it does carry fewer total (five vs. eight).

Bel is usually a sniper or designated marksman. She's reluctant to use her power, though she will if she needs to. Izkry is a good spotter and backup for her, though he really can't snipe himself. He's actually best fighting at nearly melee distances, using that whip of his, or gaining control of a vehicle or something and then using that while Bel takes out anyone trying to kill him. Bel is great at CQC, but you never want to be that close (in her opinion), unless doing stealth. Depending on the mission...I think Izkry would do well with an M1 Carbine or a Tommy gun (probably the former -- that's lighter and more convenient). Bel would do fine with just about anything, but since she needs accuracy she'll stick with the k98. For sidearms...they might stick with the Lugers, which are pretty good, or perhaps they picked up Browning Hi-Powers in Europe, or acquired 1911s here in America. The issue with the 1911 is the lack of readily available ammo once in Europe.

Bel /could/, if broken out of that shell of hers, turn into a good NCO or something. She handles commanding okay on the field but off it she absolutely sucks.

@ONL@MegaOscarPwn Oh yeah, I get that, as do the siblings. But Oscar seems...I dunno. Passive aggressive, yes, like he doesn't care and doesn't take things seriously, like he complains a lot, and there's the added issue of his desertion. They definitely think him rude and abrasive. He's not as cool a guy as he tries to act, and the dissonance between his self image and his actual abilities do not encourage respect from my two. ^.^;;

And yes, I just spent a few hours doing research and talking to my friend the gun nut for this. x.x *has issues*
@Bright_Ops This is true. This is very true. *chuckle*
@ONL "He startled train conductors and passengers by throwing his briefcase out of the train window each day on the ride home. He later explained that he was tossing his case into his own back garden so he would not have to carry it from the station" (from the Wiki) This guy has Nikki levels on eccentricity. BAGPIPES!

There's a guy somewhere that freed an entire occupied town on his own. Don't think this is him, though. STILL AWESOME~!

@MegaOscarPwn Look, if you take the American draft, most of those people were not soldiers. That's what basic training (which Oscar has now had for certain, if he'd not already) is for. Then they were sent to fight. Yes, there were a lot of them dying, and there were idiots who did things that sensible/veteran soldiers would know better than to do. And PTSD and desertion were issues. But a lot of them served well. Saying "he's an actor" doesn't mean he can't become a good soldier. Don't blame Oscar's flaws on his profession.

And I have no idea how acting would have to do with the bow, but he's /probably/ better off using his powers to fling the arrows than a bow, as I think the force from the bowstring might break them.
@MegaOscarPwn
>lockpicking tools
>not being a lady, so lacking hairpins
*snickers*

The odds of being able to carry around a bow without drawing attention are low. Most good bows are as long as a rifle, and they attract far more attention than guns in a setting where soldiers with guns are common. They're unusual, and they're likely to get you noticed. As are arrows.
@Oak7ree Can Bel still use her lightly modified Karabiner 98k, or does she have to use standard issue? The pair both had 98ks and Lugers as weaponry, but if they were told to switch the only real issue would be Bel having to adjust to sniping with a new weapon.
@Mogtaki s'pose I could. Moight be a day or two. ^.^
@ONL <3 The siblings agree with Anton about American food. Though the pizza is not bad.
@MegaOscarPwn Taller does not mean faster. And Oscar nearly outpacing Bel, from how you've described him, seems a bit odd. He finds the run difficult; she does not and never has, not in the sort of "let me collapse now" way that he seems to. You characterized him as on the lazy side, possibly with a little extra fat though not enough to b3 more than solidly built. Bel is running at the speed of someone who does ten and fifteen Ks regularly and well. Either he likes running more than you've stated, or...I dunno. Also, I should note that Bel kept a steady but demanding pace up and back down, only sprinting the last stretch before the finish, which is at the bottom.
...I can imagine the taste, and it's nasty. I'm pretty good at predicting simple combos like that.
