Current The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation.

They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@Inkarnate Hey, I've seen AU WW1. Where the Americas were only just colonized because HOLY CRUD GIANT SEA MONSTERS.

This is intriguing. I don't intend to join, but it's a clever idea. Best of luck~

And I need to know how to pronounce the title, if you please, @Hexaflexagon. ^.^;;
@Oak7ree was calling Bel a private instead of a sergeant/corporal (don't much care which) deliberate? I thought she had at least some carryover from her previous rank, as we'd discussed.
@MegaOscarPwn Oh dear! Get well soon!
@Oak7ree Kaneda is visibly foreign, and he's of the sort that most patriotic Americans would discriminate against. Then again, he's very amicable, so might work. And it could be fun if he's suspected. *wide grin* that'd be nice~

I still wanna make Bel be on that team. Or Izkry -- he'd be great, but his accent is not so good. Then again, neither is Antoine's. But I really wanna force Bel. *cackles* or at the /least/ force her to interact without him as a shield by sending him to be social. Ah well. *discards ideas for fancy dresses*

However it goes down, this is gonna be FUN. <3 Bel would do well as a waitress, though I shudder to think what would happen if someone with too much to drink gave her a hard time.

OH COULD YOU IMAGINE HER HAVING TO PRETEND TO BE ONE OF THE GUYS' DATE?! AHAHA! ...Actually. WE SHOULD DO THAT. Let me do that, PLEASE! *flailing* And if David doesn't have a good feel for her, it'd be a good time to try to get a better idea while the opportunity has presented itself. He might not, she's hard to read, and he's never actually seen her under pressure. Not to mention she changed character when a mission came up. For all that she knows they need to be a team she's not practicing what she preaches...though she's at least somewhat aware of her shortcomings. ADGASHERA can we force her to be David's "date" for this?! *flailing* Please~?!
"Huh?" Taliya's response made no sense to Amuné. She'd been trying to show she wasn't useless, that she could learn, that she'd do her best and that there were things she was good at. And all the woman did was say mean things. And then she called Wyth a pet!

"He's not a pet!" the girl exclaimed, stamping her foot. "Pets are different. Wyth is far more than just a pet!" And slings were very dangerous, she could kill birds with a sling, or small animals. She'd been told when learning that a sling stone could knock a person out, even kill them. She didn't understand why she was being told off for trying to do what was wanted. What had she done wrong? She pressed close to Cecil's side, since he was next to her, one hand reaching to gripping his tightly as she ran the other through Wyth's fur. Why was a mean lady like Taliya in charge of everything?

And then Gage was just as bad. Already tearing up after being snapped at, the man's harsh words were more than Amuné could handle. She burst into sobs, turning to Ethan and burying her face in his side. She didn't understand, all she'd wanted to do was be useful, but even when she was trying to do what they wanted she was still no good. How was learning to use a crossbow going to help with that? She was useless and her magic was useless and Gage was scary. "I don't wanna work with him, he's scary," she cried, the words muffled. "Can't I learn from Kensen like you?"

Wyth bristled. The man had an aggressive posture and a harsh tone, and the way he showed his teeth was not the friendly way of baring them. Now his girl was upset, and she was being threatened. He slipped between her and the danger, back arched and his own fangs bared as he hissed a warning. The man would back off, if he knew what was good for him.
@Oak7ree well, if they're /all/ staff, it's weird to talk to the guests. So you need a mix for gathering info. Maria would do well as society. Bel...she could. Probably. Would rather not, but I think we should make her. ^.^ But the idea is that those trained should do the info gathering, since we don't have anyone with a special gift suited to that (save Maria) and then we're the force once we know who and where.

@MegaOscarPwn to be in the band he'd need to be known to the other musicians, as generally ensembles work together a lot. And he'd need to know the specific pieces. Also bands at places like this are less guitar, and more violin, cello, maybe some woodwinds or brass. Stuff like that.

@ONL OOOH best wishes *waves pompoms*
Oh! That reminds me, @Oak7ree, I'm gonna be out of town from Thursday until the first of June. I will have 'net access, but I don't know how much time I'll have to write. Expect me to be slow and/or absent. ^.^; Apologies in advance.
@KaiserElectric Is fine~ Hope things are going well~

Actually, we don't have to be guests ourselves. We could be staff, or some of us. Certainly that would help us blend in better. Staff are not paid much attention to. We're best off splitting the group if we go, to cover more areas, but as Bel said -- we've no training in undercover work.
His enthusiastic acceptance made Lee's smile widen, and she returned the squeeze of her hand. "It's not so much no system as it is I'm too cynical to trust everyone to sign in and pay." She smiled self-deprecatingly but without much concern, twirling easily around and returning to the standard position with ease, Axel catching her free hand again automatically. He was good, she could tell. Not only familiar enough to converse while dancing, but also moving with the confidence and poise of one who knew what he was doing and enjoyed it.

With a skilled partner, Lee didn't feel a need to limit herself to the basics so she wouldn't throw him off. With a grin she started adding things on, the little extra flourishes that could be used on turns and other things, and she switched to the triple step for beats one and two. Her face lit up when he not only matched her but started picking more advanced moves himself. She had plenty of patience for teaching, but it was a real treat to find a partner who not only could keep up but actually pushed her. Not needing to worry about holding back, she moved to the fancier versions of certain things, though nothing too flashy. She didn't want to make him self-conscious by attracting attention. Still, the wide smile didn't leave her face for the entire dance.

Higher than the government? It must be some UN court or something, with how he described it. She could see why that might require dancing. The dip was not something she would have expected from him, but she went along willingly.

Cal's unsolicited comment left him embarrassed and fumbling, and Lee had to chuckle. "Sorry for what, for knowing what you're doing? Relax -- it's nice when I don't need to worry about my partner's steps in addition to my own. If I thought you would drop me I wouldn't have let you try that move." She grinned, trying to reassure him that it was fine and that his friend wasn't going to get under her skin with silly comments. God knew if that was an issue she would never have been able to handle some of her pupils. "You're an excellent dancer. In fact...."

Turning away for a moment, she called to a young lady a few couples over as the song ended. "Sofia. Come here, I want you to partner with Axel for a bit." Pointing her face at Axel again, she put a hand on his shoulder. "Sofia is one of my best, but that means she usually ends up helping the others instead of getting to improve herself. I hope you don't mind. And she can point you at others at a similar level when you wish to switch again. But if you'll excuse me, I have a class to teach." With a last smile Lee turned away to catch the young man Sofia had been dancing with, and they squared off in time for the start of the next song. From there she kept moving around the room, switching partners every couple minutes to make sure she spread her attention out.

Sofia was a willing counterpart, and she was pleased to find someone who could lead her through a few fancier moves. Neither of the drop-ins lacked for hopeful partners, if they cared to accept the offers. Some were curious, and all were friendly. Couples switched every song or two, though most eventually made their way over to the water fountain briefly, or sat a song out. Few stayed down for long, and by the time the class was over it was a room full of flushed and happy faces. Lee dismissed them, saying she'd see them next week, and went to the edge of the floor near the door as they started to disperse.

((that'll hafta do. x.x I can't remember what I'm forgetting.))
@MegaOscarPwn that's considered rude and obnoxious. It's antagonistic, and insults are probably equally bad.

In short, antagonizing means, basically, doing something you know will bother them.
