Current The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation.

They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

@Scout Ah! I like her. Hm, what would Ziotea think...?

She's Omestrian. Ziotea...doesn't even know where to begin processing that. She feels a strange kinship to the girl, but she never made any move to approach the other person who shared her heretical heritage. I'm guessing that Viveca might very well have asked questions about Ziotea's appearance, as well as about Rodion's machines, and I don't think Ziotea'd take well to that. She also doesn't entirely understand how a former slave can be okay with supporting the people that tortured her -- though this is partially a reflection of her own inner turmoil and disgust at her own position. Depending on Viveca's religions views and how openly she expresses them, there may be hidden sympathy or further conflict there. The pride she has in her heritage puts Ziotea at odds with her, again for personalk reasons.

She does admire or at least respect Viveca's adaptability, which she sees as one of the best qualities a warpriest can have.
I owe folks an apology. Today seems to be one of the days that nothing gets accomplished. X.x

@Draken Ilya -- egotistical and with an inflated head, Ziotea has never seen a need to look past the surface of this one. She's heard his reputation, and she doesn't buy it. She's seen how he scrambles to adapt when something unexpected happens, and she's occasionally entertained the perversely pleasant thought of going toe to toe with him and overwhelming his flimsy plans. Competitive? Nah....

@Lovejoy Huh. Innnteresting. *looks speculative*

In case you didn't see the comment I love your art. I'm a mouser too, so ^5

Can you tell us anything about Culmination, and what it entails?

@CollectorOfMyst perhaps it's a healing drug, or a (banned?) derivative of ether extraction created as a sideproduct -- or even something used to help fighters who overdo it recover their ether?
@Lovejoy if there's a graduating "class" of under a hundred, it's entirely reasonable to know every last one of them by name, if not more than that. Since we're talking going on a mission together, we probably had a couple weeks' teambuilding before we ship out, as that's important for any team and the Inquisition doesn't seem like it'd field a team that didn't have some prep for working together.
@vietmyke OH LOOK WHO I SEE~! *glomps*

>least zealous

I think we somehow all went the non-zealot route. I think only one of us even remotely qualifies, and he just doesn't like thinking about it much.

when you say classical mage, it sounds like you mean standard offensive elemental casts, yeah? It does look like most of us chose just one or two elements (is force even an element? o.o) to focus on. ^.^ He seems interesting. If he's accepted, Ziotea most likely didn't even notice him right away. He's a couple years older, and seems to be an intellectual more than a melee fighter. My guess is when they eventually faced each other in a spar (because everyone's probably faced everyone else at some point, really) she was able to hold her own without feeling overwhelmed. He's Lanostran, but he's not as in-your-face about it as Astraea, so he'd be less of an irritant. Ziotea on her own would see him in default mode, so any complications to the relationship are up to you. ^.^
@Drakey Just for fun, have a comparison of Rodion and Ziotea.

@deathbringer I like it! And this is awesome, totally fits -- and it adds resentment for being beaten. And yes, I imagine those two fighting is...intense

@Scout ugh, paper work. Almost as bad as red tape, except the red tape leaves marks behind.

@Lovejoy AAAAH MOUSE ART BUDDY! *tackles* AND THOSE PICS! ESPECIALLY RODION, HE'S ADORABLE!

I can totally find more refs for Ziotea -- or sketch my own.

CRUD NOW I WANT TO ART THESE GUYS TOO! *flailing*
@deathbringer OH huh. that's interesting. About hatred letting her block stuff out. Since, y'know, Ziotea has a general, all-purpose hatred for humanity as a whole. Or at least a solid disgust.
@Sisyphus Unarmed would be...hm. I mean, she is probably half his size, but maybe? Maybe it was supposed to be a lesson for her, initially -- you can't run away from things that scare you, and you are small so a lot of things are going to be bigger than you. And she tried, might or might not have managed anything remotely close to what was expected, but she made a go of it. Only at some point she panicked and whoops.

She might even have been visibly upset about that. She would have been pretty young still, and I could see her dashing over to Hassan where he's crumpled up dazed by the wall, looking shocked and maybe even worried or horrified. Just until she can tell he's more or less in one piece, of course, and I'm sure she'd deny it.

I don't know if she'd be a worthwhile threat or not. I mean, she never tries to injure other trainees past what's okay for a sparring match, and as she gets better it's less likely to happen (or more, I guess, since their own skills mean she needs to use harder attacks to get through? o.o) But it's possible. Certainly I would not be surprised if he was given a hard time about it. I wonder if she might ever find out....

So yeah, mutual resentment! ^.^ Because she's inadvertently scary, and he's inadvertently controlling, and neither of them can work with what the other is.
