Current Man, I can't wait to roleplay as Teak Root Furniture. Sounds wild.

As Eddie Izzard once said, "Americans say 'Urbs' English people say 'Herbs', because there's a f*cking 'H' in it"

Gotta love people who comment on your RP just to leave a snarky comment about it. GG, good to see you're using your time well.

Nothing like putting a load of effort and time into a game background when people are interested after the int check, for everything to go completely dead when you post the OOC with all the info.

Lengthy OOC finally up for my mecha-based game, now to collapse and try and sleep before I go on Holiday

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 42 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

Yes! I came across it years ago in one of those tiddly little 'pocket' reference books I had acquired from somewhere. At the time I didn't know much about firearms etc, but now I'm a bit older I looked it up again, and it's a pretty neat little gun. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to use it.

And good thought; I actually completely overlooked it so far. I'll have a think and see what I can come up with - something in hebrew would be cool; I'll get to work with Google translate, lol.

Edit: I did a bit of looking, and Duner works - it's 'Thunder' in Yiddish. It sounds badass, but I have an amusing explanation why she's actually called that which can come out at some point too.
Yeah, it seemed like a perfect fit to me, and recoilless rifles tend to get overlooked pretty easily.
I think Gabby's loadout for this one will be a recoilless on one shoulder and the grenade launcher on the other, M134 and shotgun on the arms, and the CBJ's as sidearms. Something for every occasion.
Gabby had elected not to suit up immediately as the Osprey chuntered its' way across the jungle below. The Stormhound wasn't especially build for comfort, and the more bulky and angular powered exoskeleton didn't lend itself to sitting or reclining in any fashion, particularly. Instead, the tall, powerfully built Israeli was lounged across a few of the fold-down seats on the opposite side of the bay from Tobias, the Stormhound standing to her immediate right with its' back yawning open, ready to close around her at a moments' notice.
The dusky-skinned, dark-haired woman listened in to the communication, smiling in amusement as the music came across, and getting to her feet as the conversation continued. As Bluestone ran over the specifics, she climbed into position. The padded interior layer of the suit rested against her front, and both arms slid down into the suits over-sized gloves with their 'waldo' style arm manipulators. Her feet were cushioned by and rested on stilt-like extensions, and with a few carefully chosen commands and movements, the suits' back folded down and locked into place with a hiss of equalising pressure seals. A low hum came from the backpack as the exoskeleton came to life, and stood under its' own weight, a little hunched under the ceiling of the V-22's cargo bay.
"Like a virgin taking home the prom queen" she replied over their radio channel as she followed suit, checking her suits' systems. She went over her own gear with the same meticulous precision as her partner; checking the feed on the M134 on her right arm and the auto shotgun on her left. Likewise, the aerial insertion gear all read true, which gave her a brief sense of mental relief. However, the thought of dropping out of the sky encased in as mass of metal soon subdued it. She rolled her shoulders and twisted her hips slightly; as always, as soon as the suit was sealed around her was the exact moment she found - or rather, felt - a crease or rucked-up bit of fabric in her piloting suit, or some damn itch or tingle that couldn't be dealt with. But it was all part of the job.
"I suppose it's too late to go to the bathroom," she said deadpan, flexing her arms and twisting in small arcs with a whine of servomotors and hydraulics, the orange polarised visor of her suit turning towards Tobias as if he could see her smile through it.
Glad you like the sheet; I tried to keep it looking nice as well as having all the info on it - makes it easier to see what's there :)

Definitely like the idea of - to borrow term from an old TTRPG - the 'masquerade' being in effect so that Joe Public isn't really aware of anything. Although, I do like the idea as with all of these things that there's probably a few conspiracy nutjobs out there who are closer to the truth than they realise... and just as equally, there's an office somewhere in a big intelligence agency that deliberately posts messages to fuel the fire and at the same time send them off on random tangents.

With you on the ATGMs, the mini-missiles aren't a million miles from reality anyway; smart munitions are getting smaller and more precise seemingly every day, especially with things like the XM25 being a reality. With the Shoulder-launched Hellfires, Stinger and APKWS I was basically envisaging them as a tube with the missile/rockets in that's ejected or discarded once they're used.
With the recoilless, I'm basically thinking of a carousel-fed Carl Gustav, with a few different types of munitions ready to go. Again, enough of them can kill armour, but mostly they're for breaching, or taking out large or hardened targets and positions, or groups of hostiles.

Will take a read over of the post and get something up later today!
I'm glad you like her, once I hit upon the background for her, she came together really well and really quickly. Going for a law enforcement/paramilitary background made a nice change as well from a pure military one.

Regarding the suit, that's fair enough, although I did try and stress that it's not full flight or even jumpjets, but instead more of a 'powered skating'/hovercraft type deal, where it generates its' own air cushion to move faster on the ground, rather than any kind of full flight capability of any kind. Again, something to build up to as you suggest - though I can't imagine what the suit would look like without the intakes/engines and wings...! a lot smaller I suppose.
Re: the weapons as well, sure; I tried to keep things in the middle sort of ground, without going up to anything too large. I may change the Hellfires for a pair of shoulder-launched ATGMs instead (Javelins or something), and drop the 4-pack of 70mm rockets, as the recoilless is more-or-less the same anyway. Everything else looks all right imo. I see the 20mm as being essentially an anti-materiel rifle on a powered mount and used for sniping and the same kind of things as anti-materiel rifles are already used for. There already are 20mm AMRs around, so it seemed like a good fit for one of the largest things it carries.
Got mine up, hopefully it'll be all right and in line with what you were thinking. I might have gone a bit overboard with the suit, and I realise it doesn't match up to the template you posted, but I was working on it at the same time.
No idea for an image for my character either; guess we'll have to use imagination for the meantime xD
Character Sheet:

Name: Gabriela (Gabby) Louise Bat-Seraph

Age: 38

General Appearance:
Particularly tall for a woman (6'7"), and with a fairly heavy, strong build, a bit like a shot-putter or wrestler, though with a few more curves, and generous ones at that. She has dark eyes and hair, and honey-coloured skin, showing her Israeli heritage. Her hair reaches to her shoulder blades, but usually worn in a practical plait and pinned up while piloting her suit. She has a beauty mark to the left side of her mouth, and her dark eyes are usually accented by subtle application of eyeliner, giving her somewhat unconventional beauty a more appealing look. She has an infectious smile, and carries herself with confidence.

Nationality: Israeli/American

History:
Born in Israel, mother was Israeli and father American, though nationalised as an Israeli citizen. Had a mostly uneventful childhood, though lost a couple of relatives and childhood friends to terrorist violence and action, which instilled a strong morality against terrorist groups and religious zealotry in her from a young age.
She was a good student in most subjects, though struggled with mathematics. She showed promise and interest in sciences, and in physical challenges, becoming an accomplished volleyball player and wrestler, due to her physical size and strength.
She, like all citizens of Israel, was conscripted for a mandatory term of service in the IDF. She found the lifestyle and its' challenges fulfilling in giving her direction, and was a way to take some kind of action towards the ever-present issues in her home country. Her academic achievements also qualified her for the Talpiot program, gaining her degrees in science and languages.
Gabby excelled in her mandatory service, and served several years with the infantry, before returned to civilian life. However, this was in the interest of pursuing a law enforcment career, where she joined the Israeli Police Force, qualifying with Yamam, the border police special tactical unit. She had a distinguished career, and besides her tactical role, she also participated in several exchange programs for training, and research purposes. During this time she aided in the development and deployment of a handful of experimental technologies and systems, resulting in her being selected for service with the Iron Wolves as the pilot of the Stormhound unit.

Suit Spec/Description:

Personal Weaponry:
  • Jericho 941 FS/RS .45 handgun
  • Folding utility/combat knife
  • H&K MP7 (or other SMG/PDW usually taken from suits' sidearm)

Loves:
  • Nature - animals, the outdoors, etc.
  • Science & Technology
  • Food - Home cooking, baking, eating out with different cuisines; she's all over it
  • Physical activities - climbing, swimming, hiking, as well as her favourite sports of wrestling and volleyball
  • Sci-fi movies
  • Hard rock & Industrial Metal music

Hates:
  • Arrogance, Cruelty, and selfishness
  • Repetitive or mundane tasks
  • Gossip and insincerity
  • Religion as an excuse for shitty opinions/actions; especially extremism/zealotry
  • Bigotry and intolerance
  • Soulless music (such as 'manufactured' pop, rap, garage, dance etc)
  • People who question her driving*

* - Gabby can drive... she just isn't a very safe... or good... driver. Despite what she may think otherwise. While she passed all of her tests and can keep her own car on the road, anyone she's driven with 'professionally' on the job takes on a hollow, glazed look if reminded of the experience.
I was going to suggest the idea that they came from different projects, or different stages of the program too, then we can tailor them to our own liking, while keeping them similar enough that it doesn't seem too broken or out of place that they shouldn't be part of the same setting :)
Going to work on my character a bit over the evening too and put something up. Will spec up the armour as well.
Looks good so far, and I like the setup. One thing that came to mind as I read the background was an idea from a novel I read a while back. Maybe because some research is forbidden or restricted for ethical or religious reasons, some third-world (or former third-world) governments let them operate on their soil in exchange for investment in their infrastructure and economy, leading to development of some more 'cutting edge' stuff, like designer viruses, genetic research, cybernetics, etc. Nothing too out there (like, certainly not super-powers or anything), but definitely another avenue of bad guys and threats to deal with.

The only thing I'm not so keen on is the design for the suits, haha. My mental picture was more like - but not exactly - the Madox-01 from the anime of the same name. Something with weapons that are modular, but built in. Also I just prefer the look, haha.

All sounds good otherwise though, definitely what I was thinking as far as weapons went more or less too. I'll have a think about a character too. Might go with a female character a bit like Cat from Silent Line, as I enjoyed her a lot
I could be interested in this, as anime-esque stuff in sci-fi is my jam, especially if it's original content and not fandom-based. Gundam and Macross are basically my two favourite anime franchises, and I love mecha anime too. Depending on what kind of format it takes, I might be down. I'll subscribe as well!
