I'll be going on a two week vacation starting tomorrow and don't know how often I'll have Internet access. Thank you for your patience. I'll try to be more regular when I get back.

Gil approached Illithor, "Hey, so since we had a bunch of wood lying around, I figured I'd build a quick trough for you to store fish in. It's a bit small, but should let you hold your catch for the time being." He presented a large wooden trough to Illithor.
"Blythe seems to be doing fine," Tera said, "We should let the sisters have some privacy." She led Solomon and Israfil out of the infirmary.
"We were able to stop some of the enemy ships from jumping, but most of them escaped," Tera replied. "I'm not sure how many ships we needed to stop to constitute a success."
What do you want to happen to your characters from here?
@Stern Algorithm
they already make cat-shaped cycle helmets

I just hope Chi-Tah doesn't lose his head.
"I-I see," Solomon said, rather startled by Blythe's action. "I...thanks..." was all he said, assuming that she had forgiven him.
"Take your time," Emtardas said, letting Freya leave.
"Horizon," he introduced himself. "As for the gas and water, let us hope the utility companies have carried out proper emergency protocols. Personally, I would rather not have a run-in with any 'authorities'. They keep trying to get me to 'register'. I don't know what they mean, but it feels sinister. I just want to protect sentient life. Are you with the Omega League?" Horizon's question may seem a little blunt, but he was a little disappointed that Mantis Boy had simply shrugged off his question; maybe Mantis Boy had no idea who the Omega League were. Horizon hoped Bootstrap wasn't as clueless.

"Then you have nothing to protect," Ark replies to NightClaw, "The people are unharmed, and the rest...merely memories of extinction. These bones, knick-knacks, and artifacts, should be meaningless to one who protects the living. I am with Zeta Squad for my goal: to prevent an extinction." Ark was unsure how much he could trust this NightClaw, but preferred to parley rather than fight, and hoped his cryptic talk would be enough to dissuade the dark hero from stopping his theft of the museum. Ark silently cursed himself for not noticing NightClaw sooner; with his telemetry experts trying to figure out the vault door, his ability to technologically sense hidden things in his surroundings was greatly weakened.

"Cattle-prod tonfas," Eileen mused, "I like it, it's simple enough in concept that I could have it ready by tomorrow. Anything else will have to wait, I'm afraid, but I'll keep them in mind. But jetpacks are a pretty good idea, though hopefully, Harth will be having us helicopter in. If so, I'll put in a request to have whatever air vehicles loaded with a defoliant like agent orange or something. Maybe napalm too, while we're at it." Dr. Fang wasn't pulling her punches on this one, thinking of Vietnam War tactics. "Oh, I have been preparing something, sonic charges. They're like little stun grenades. You see, mutants are, for the most part, just like humans, they have human brains, human organs, you know. Their ears, skulls and abdominal cavities are just like ours...or...mine at least, your skull's a little...anyways, these sonic charges release a sound whose wavelength matches the average thickness of the human skull. It causes vertigo and...extreme discomfort. It can also be tweaked to resonate at the wavelength that matches the size of the abdominal cavity which should induce nausea, internal bleeding, and maybe even impotence. It should be a useful 'catch-all' when it comes to dealing with mutants, but just to be safe, I'm going to need you and Explosion to wear special helmets to avoid being affected." Eileen runs back into the lab and comes out with what looks like a motorcycle helmet. Turning it upside down, she shows Chi-Tah that it has specialized ear covers that look like headphones with earplugs in them, as well as special mouthguard.

"The charges will rattle your teeth," she explains, "Oh, but I need to make a special helmet for you because of your cat-head." Eileen pulls out a 3D scanner from a random pocket on her lab coat and begins scanning Chi-Tah's head like a barcode without his permission.
Kei's gaze skated headfirst back down the alley, then back at the tower, afraid that the figure would be gone if she stopped tracking it. Her phone flipped out of her pocket with the usual ease. Mary wouldn't have answered right now even if Kei had her number, and though she had seen others at work in Danzig, she only knew one. It was a long shot, considering how new that one was to the business, but Kei knew that at least this one would never get snappish over a panicked message.

Kei:
Sal, it me, paint girl again. something really weird going down here at gate end of royal road. lots of mag girls in one place. not sure who knows what. please confirm you're safe, any other deets would be good. thanks
Kei:
sorry

Salomea's phone buzzed with the arrival of a message. Checking it, she saw Kei's text, and replied:

Salomea:
That's really close to where I am. I'm fine, enjoying the parade with family. I sense a witch. You're taking care of it, right?

Spiraling through the air, the creature fluffs its body up again as it approaches the other alleyway wall, striking it at an angle and fluffing outwards, instantly recovering with another lightning-quick bounce in the other direction. Zigzagging like this, it adjusts its trajectory and continues its jaunt towards the nearby roadway.

And just like that, it was there-

"Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~!" The Familiar screeches cheerfully, hurtling past the outskirts of the abandoned area and into populated space once again. With the incredible density of people around the main roadways, it was only natural that immediately upon approaching the street, three humans are sucked into and trapped within the Familiar's flimsy barrier.

It makes its choice, and spirals wildly, hurtling itself towards the nearest human. It was clear what its intention was at this point.

At the same time, Salomea would notice the distinctive sensation of a Witch being almost on top of her. Directly across the street from her, she could probably see the edge of the monster's barrier encroaching on the sidewalk, sucking in a couple of passerby before stopping there, dangerously close to the crowd.

Salomea looked across the street in dread, realizing the 'witch' had found her. She didn't know what to do, she couldn't transform in this crowd without being noticed, and she couldn't cross the street with so many people's attentions focused on the parade. Then she remembered how Kyubey had guilted her into becoming a magical girl, that she was responsible for the safety of the populace. Salomea backed away from the street slowly, telling her family she needed some fresh air. After she was backed far enough into an abandoned alley, she transformed into her magical girl outfit, a white frilly dress. Looking down she could see a manhole. Salomea cringed at the thought, but figured that traveling through the sewer was probably the only way she'd get to the witch without being seen. She stuck her finger into the tiny hole that was built into the cover. Normally, a long metal tool was hooked into the hole to pull the cover off, but one thing Salomea had noticed about being a magical girl was increased strength. It was still an exertion to pull the cover off, yet she had the sense of stealth to roll the cover over to a wall quietly and prop it up instead of just letting it fall to the ground in a loud clatter. Looking at the parade to get her bearings, Salomea jumped down the manhole, splashing down into some muddy nastiness. Litter from the parade flowed passively by her feet. She headed in the general direction of the 'witch', hearing the sound of the parade move over her head as she went under the street. When she arrived at another manhole, one that she was certain was in the alley opposite where she stood with her family, she could sense the 'witch' almost directly above her. She climbed up the ladder to the surface and pushed up on the manhole cover, peeking through it to see what was going on, hoping that she could successfully stay hidden for the time being.
Kyoko is also best girl. Everyone other than Mami is best girl, actually.
