Nuanced with gentle allusions.
Nodding at horrific undertones.
You will never see it until the end.
And then it'll be too late by then.
The truth bites down hard on those blind to see.
And I care to share a bit of my madness with the rest of the world.

Yes, it'll have some tongue-in-cheek commentary of course.
It wouldn't be my writing if it was devoid of any winks at the real world.
And I think I'm about halfway done with it so far...

Actually you can make gold from lead.
You can in theory, via high energy electron bombardment, change the protons without a nucleus of led into neutrons by inducing electron capture. Displacing your electron configurations and all, I'd imagine it is very possible to create a very unstable isotope of the next few element down from lead. Which you'd have to reduce by neutron emission/fission. And keep repeating the process until you are left with gold.

Oh dear.
My twisted mind just came up with a horrific short story for this theme.
An idea that only a sick psychopathic serial killer would probably conceive of...

Should I start worrying about my mental health?
Or should you all start worrying about your physical health when I'm around?
Dun dun duuun!

But no really it's a clever idea and possibly good story telling but the end result is just...
Morbid.

That's a fair point. I had thought NPCs were static and had some sort of literary device of plot armor round them.
I'd didn't fully expect Femnal to know where Ntaj is per say, could have overhead something. Or just simply state he doesn't know/give a damn and leave Thomas to his meal.

With respect to editing the time down, the character isn't designed that way, so he'd be even more useless with one spell.
