Polyanna Saccharine snorted as she read the report. A duel, on the first day of classes no less! She would say that she expected it, given that Morholt was involed, but that would be a lie. In fact, she was surprised that Morholt challenged the girl at all.

It was a lesser known fact, but Morholt rarely challenged anyone to duels - most the time, he was on the recieving end of a challenge. The times where he himself initiated the duel were few and far in-between, each with extenuating circumstances that made the occasion special.

Looking at the play-by-play report of his altercation with Hilda and Francisco, she had to wonder - what made this so special?

Well, it wasn't her job to wonder about the why's of what went behind the students' reasoning. She was the Head Enforcer, not school psychiatrist - come to think of it, where was their illustrious shrink anywho? - so she put such thoughts behind her and focused on her job.

Which, at the moment, meant preparing the dueling grounds for Morholt and his viti- er, opponent. Polyanna grimaced internally; much as she tried to envision Hilda-girl putting up a good fight, the fact of the matter was, that unless she was a fighting savant on the level of Descartes or XinHua, then she was in for a rough time - as a mob of Morholts nameless victims could attest to.

Anywho, the preparations wouldn't be for long. Hopefully the fight would be somewhat entertaining, and not just a spectacularly gory beatdown.

"Oh woah, Kai's really energetic," thought Karen, still wholly unused to someone who exhibited as energy on a magnitude like Kai's. It wasn't unpleasant however, so she found herself smiling regardless.

On the question of her magic though, her smile fell as quickly as it came.

"I, um, infect people, er things, living things, with diseases and stuff," she replied hesitantly. Her magic wasn't exactly the best topic for casual conversations, considering what it involved. Still, he asked, so she answered.

"I can, er, infect people remotely or by touch, but I'm not very good at it." 

As her master so frequently reminded her, much to her chagrin. 

Deciding to change topics quickly, Karen gestured towards the large building, urging the boy inside. The building itself was just an administrations building for setting up duels - the duel grounds themselves were sequestered arenas, surrounded by seats for specators, not unlike the collesiums of the old Roman Empire, though much smaller and more numerous.

"So you can have a duel here, if you want to." Anticipating his next question she followed up with: "If you want to challenge someone to a duel, you have to present your I.D., state your intentions, and the challenged party sets the terms of the dule, like, um, first blood or until the other surrenders."

"Oh, but you can't make the terms to skewed in your favor - there's no rule against it, per se, but it's really frowned up by everyone."

Not like she'd ever been in a duel before, but they happened frequently enough that she was aware of how they went.

A short girl entered the room, plodding her way through, though her tiny size ensured that the noise she made was minimal, save for the rolling of her trolley bag.

With short unkempt, bob-cut hair set on a large head with pale skin, small ears and dressed raggedy, ill-fitting clothes Meruin was decidedly the unattractive sort - appearance and figure-wise, she was noticeably lacking in many areas, however one thing stood out most, standing in contrast to her otherwise homely appearance.

Her eyes. Wide, clear and a beautiful emerald green orbs that reflected her insatiable and ever present curiosity.

When it came to magic, no hurdle was to tall and no task was too great for her. Tasks such as lugging her things all the way to her room. Much to her consternation, someone had already beat her to it.

That irritated her slightly. Being first to get to the room meant you had the right to pick a spot for yourself first, a right she usually enjoyed.

This year of course, that wasn't happening, and with a huff, Meruin took the room next door, and wasn't exactly careful about making sure not to wake up her new roommate.

The hinges creaked as the door slid open as a giant presence made itself known. This room had been his, since the year he had first arrived at the school - special circumstances prevented him from changing, but though his room was a constant, his roommates were not. Rarely did they last with him for the first few months, often transferring out before he had even remembered their names.

Morholt entered, and as he did so he took a deep breath, and the scent of female entered his nostrils. One of them was familiar to him, and then suddenly the rage that had come over him earlier threatened to break free once more, but he put it down. He would not stain the floors of his own abode with blood.

And so it was with measured steps that the hulking man stepped in, his presence noticeable even before he was in view. In the next moment, the giant bore down on his two new roommates silently. His helmet was off, revealing his face, plain to see in the well lit confines of their room, and beady black eyes stared down at them - or rather, stared down at Melody - his expression unreadable.

A few students crowded around a cork-board, one that often contained announcements of important events and their dates - in this case, the announcement of field trip locations and schedules. It was rare that an announcement came as early as it did now, yet here it was.

Fae Lands (Tir na Nog) - availed for Novices and above, minimum party size of three, no professor needed

Ruined Magic Lands (London, near the Dunwhich area) - availed for Journeymen and above ONLY, minimum party size of five, at least two combat oriented mages, one mind mage, must be accompanied by a professor
