Appearance:
Nuka is of mostly Greenlandic Inuit heritage (Kalaallisut). As such, he of course has most of the usual traits - black, straight hair, wide cheekbones and brown, almost black eyes. His skin has a relatively light, golden hue. At several points, Nuka's ancestry also contains some Danish and Norwegian influences, and these traces are surprisingly strong within Nuka. He is a tall man, at 186 cm, and his chin is more prominent and square than most of his peers among the Inuits. His face has plenty of facial hair growing, more than most of his kind, but he tries to shave it off as cleanly as he can. Still, one can see a 5 o'clock shadow most of the time. He is near-sighted, and so also wears a pair of glasses, which have round, black frames. Nuka is not only tall, but also large-bodied. Not necessarily chubby. When it comes to clothes, his homeland's inhospitable climate has taught him to mostly wear thick, woolen fabrics and resilient boots and jackets. When outside, he almost always wears a grey fur trapper hat which he has had most of his adult life.
Personality:
Nuka is a modest man, mostly content with what he has. He is fairly sociable and goes well with almost anyone. He doesn't really have many strong opinions, and if he did he probably wouldn't bother voicing them. This can sometimes come at a cost, as he might not even tell people if he knows what they think is factually wrong. When he works in teams, they might collectively make mistakes that Nuka himself could easily have prevented. He is quite a humorous man, specializing in dad-jokes that even his elders cringe and twist their faces at. Unbeknownst to most, Nuka is actually quite brave and fearless, although not foolhardy. If something needs to be done, he will often be willing to do it.

Background:
Nuka was born in Nuuk, Greenland, on January 6th, 1990. Both his parents were Greenlandic Inuits, although both with Nordic roots, especially his mother. During his upbringing, Nuka was taught the traditions and values of native Greenlanders. He especially fell in love with fishing at an early age. His father had a small boat that they would take fishing any chance they could. As he grew older, Nuka wanted to support his people in a country that was essentially still a colony, and so he started studying Inuit culture early in his adulthood. During his life as a student though, Nuka had his eyes opened to global warming, caused by human greed and threatening his home. So after completing his Bachelor's degree, he started studying meteorology. This ignited a burning passion in him, which pushed him on through a Master's degree and into a doctorate. He now works for the Danish Meteorology Institute most of his time, but also works part-time as a researcher for the World Meteorological Organization.

Appearance:Ryan is of typical British appearance, with pale skin and dirty blond hair. Ryan stands at a tall 6’, and has an athlete’s build. Both his arms and legs are well toned and can be seen through his clothes. Ryan has a long face with prominent cheekbones and deep brown eyes. Ryan’s hair is in a state of apparent messiness, but it is actually expertly planned, kept up with a mixture of gels and creams. While Ryan does have a faint mustache, his facial hair that forms a beard is much more noticeable.Ryan tends to wear high class clothing, often spotted wearing a black and white suit regularly. Ryan believes that clothing helps with first meetings, so he always try to look his best. Of course for the expedition to Antarctica, a suit is not really practicable so Ryan is wearing a thick black winter jacket, as he doesn’t want to wear anything as gaudy as one of those bright orange jackets.

His father Alan was a musical one hit wonder back in the 80s, while his mother Gwen was a niche horror writer. The two would meet in the late 80s as they were both trying to jump start their careers. They would quickly marry and have a son, Ryan. They would both take a step back from their careers to raise their child.Ryan would grow up loved, as his parents focused solely on him. As a child Ryan would be enamored with history documentaries aired on the BBC, all the stories and mysteries piquing his interest. He would decide at the age of nine that he was going to be a historian, going around the world and figuring out the secrets of the past. Ryan’s parents would nurture this interest, believing that he should follow his dreams. In turn the now teenage Ryan told his parents to return to their dreams. Alan would once again start performing, due many gigs for eighties nostalgia. And Gwen would start writing again, publishing a new well liked novel.The extra cash flow brought in by the returned fame helped pay for Ryan’s schooling. He would become an international student, attending university in America. After many years of studying, Ryan would earn a doctorate in history. During his time at the school, Ryan would begin work on a book on fringe theories about history. Based on the strength of his mother’s name, Ryan was able to get the book published. It was immediately divisive, as proper historians dismissed his talk of lost cities and energy fields, but many online thought that he was onto something.After the initial controversy of the book, Ryan was offered a job as an expert on a show on the History Channel. Ryan would be a regular on the first season of the show, becoming somewhat of a meme online for his intensity he had when talking about fringe theories. But the History Channel executives would recognize that Ryan was the apparent star of the show. They then offered him a deal to produce a full length documentary based on his theories.It was around then that the ice in Antarctica melted and revealed a temple. When Ryan heard of it, he immediately decided that he wanted to make a documentary on it. Thanks to some bribes on behalf of the History Channel and Ryan’s accumulated wealth, the controversial doctor was able to secure a seat on the expedition to the temple.
