Aslan Calides

Where are these people coming from? Aslan thought as the fight became crowded with more northers showing up. Were the people of the North this eager to take down the Mage King or his Mage Knights? An interesting thought, given the newcomers to the field, helping them against the Mage Knights. But the fight is not over yet, and who knows if more northerners will show up at this rate. That would be nice if they stayed friendly after the fight.

But, as he and Eirún fight against the metal mage knight. It seemed like he had the advantage since the knight managed to wound Eirún. While Aslan's bolt landed true, it only seemed to annoy the knight who had his sights on him now. A good thing for Eirún and a bad thing for Aslan. He knew that head-on, he had little chance. So he opted to reposition and get out of the knight's line of sight.

So Aslan, while cloaked, he quickly moved to the back of the horses and behind the cart. From there, stealthily went to flank the knight. Which by the knight's confused gaze, his stunt seemed to have worked.

Just in time for Aslan to see Eirún unleashed a renewed attack on the metal mage knight. Her strike landed true and cut the knight. A clear cut on his shoulder armor, but he remained standing. So, when Aslan was in position, flanking the metal mage knight but at a good distance away. Aslan brought out his wrist-mounted crossbow and fired another bolt at the knight again. Hoping this shot makes it count. Though with numbers on their side. Aslan catching the sight of the rest of the battle. One knight dead by Siegfried and an unknown ally hands. Another being attacked by the giant woman, the wolf, and a now revealed Brigitte. Plus, the silent knight being knocked to the ground by Siegfried and appearing to finish the knight.

He was busy reloading and waiting to see how his and Eirún's fight with the metal mage knight will change.
((I have no perfect picture on how the first metal hammers were made so far in my research, ugh. Does anyone here have some potential info on that so I can have a practical and sensiuble progression for Eliza making metal tools and such? (@_@)))

As far as I can find. The first metal hammers were made of copper that was found and shaped in a hammer. Otherwise, casting it using stone or clay molds. I found that wooden tongs were a thing in the ancient past before metal tongs, so you could use those.

This help or should I research more?

I do not know how long it has been since I was dropped here. I have lost track, and without my watch, timekeeping is hard. Though I can say one winter has lasted so that is one way I can keep time. But I survive and live among the tribe. Thrive in a way, after more tests with the saddle, and thanks to the leather worker and an experienced horseman. We made one that works. Complete with a stirrup as well. It looks like a saddle that I am used to seeing, and the horses seem to wear it comfortably. With that success, more saddles are being made for the whole tribe and for my efforts. The chieftain Kun in thanks for this boon and has rewarded me by giving me my own horse, a young stallion by the name of Iis.

Thanks to the training by the tribe, I can say I can ride a horse now. More so with a saddle in place, and I think that Iis and I will be okay together. My hunting skill at least up to the tribe's expectations. I am doing well in that department. I can shoot and aim with a bow. Something I have not done since high school. But I can now hunt on my own to a degree, though I leave the skinning of an animal to the butchers. I have learned how to buther a animal, but I only do it when I have to. While I have gotten past the whole blood and guts part. I did throw up a few times while being taught. Which I was made fun of for doing that. I would rather leave that for others to do.

But for what other ways could I help the tribe. I initially did not know what, besides the saddle. They are skilled smiths, and they know how to make bronze. While I tried to think, I learned more about the tribe, their history, and their ways and more. I even made friends with the tribe's lore keeper in the process. An old man by the name of Yurr. He was happy to tell me the stories of the tribe, and being a history nerd. I intently listened and made an impression on the man. Who was training his son to take up the role once he has died.

Though some of the tribe were interested in me for my tales, the history of my people. After some convincing, I told some. It was hard to figure out what, since I did not want to confuse them or anything. So one story I told was one about the birth of the United States. I told how my people were foreigners who travelled to a new land to settle and start anew, and when the British gave my people injustice after injustice. They rose up and managed to defeat the British and throw off the shackles of tyranny. My people forming a new tribe and took control of their destiny. I am not sure if I am a good storyteller, but the tribe seems to like the story.

But one of them, a young woman named Luy seem to have an interest in me and thought I was hiding something. When she approached me about it, I told her the truth. She seemed to accept it, but she still had those judging eyes. Then she asked for more stories about my people and life. Spending more time with me, and I would tell her what I knew.

To the point that Luy started to stargaze with me. Despite me being know about the constellations, I could never find a way to find them in the night sky. But we still watched, and she asked me questions. It was weird, no one has been this interested in me before. Maybe that is what it means to be an outlander, and that is my nickname in the tribe. A name that comes with respect, then scorn. A modern man in a primitive place. Knowledge that these people do not have and knowledge I am happily willing to share.

While I still think of home, the tribe has given me a new one. For as long as I stay here, that is, and if nothing bad happens. I am still a newcomer to this place, and I need these people. Well, so far so good, and maybe I can make a life here. If nothing goes wrong, that is.

Reman has been keeping himself busy during the week he has been at Tu Zin. He was talking with the locals and learning more about the town. While also making himself useful and helping with some of the mechanical problems some people had. At least to the best of his ability and without his tools. He tried to not be annoying with his questions, as curious as he was about the Tu Zin. How long it has been around, where they get their power, and other details. Some were open with his questions, and some were not so open with him.

Still, Reman has been enjoying his time at Tu Zin. Despite being effectively kicked from the tavern due to a second wave of refugees and now having to find someplace else to live. Which he did find a place, an old couple allowed him to stay with them as thanks for helping him with a problem, and some pity they felt for him. They seemed nice and had a spare room that became Reman's room. Even has a place to store Mova and her case. Though, since surviving the worm before coming to Tu Zin. Reman has noticed she has been acting a bit strange, but still within parameters. There is not much he can do about that since the tablet that was connected to her was broken and is not repairable. So, Reman only activates her when needed, partly to conserve power since he has not found a way to recharge her fuel cells yet.

But, today Reman was walking around town when he noticed the crowd of people gathered around a trading caravan. Curious to see what they had now that he had some money on him. Reman stayed and watched as the merchant spoke and talked about the four corners of the world. Reman sighed as he listened on. So maybe a snake oil salesman, he thought, as the guy kept talking.

Though not all of the goods have been revealed, one tarp is still on. Three things did catch his eye. The biggest one being the old drone. He knows that type, one of the early drone models that his family has made. A Mark 1 combat drone. While Remans doubts he can fix Mova with parts from the drone. He may be able to do something with it. But that depends on how damaged the drone is and if there is still some synergy in it.

The second thing that caught his eye was the chameleon water bear. Reman has never seen or heard of an animal like that before. Another wonder of the Wilds, and he wondered how much it would cost to liberate the animal from its cage. But the last thing that caught his eye was a woman with red hair. Red is a rare hair color to have, and he definitely has not seen this woman before. Maybe a refugee from the second wave?

But he was not going to ask her now and focus again on the drone. After thinking about it, Reman had decided to buy the drone. Hoping to get some use out of it, if not, then spare parts. Though he was curious about the woman's question, the last tarp was covering. More so given the sounds coming from it. "Yeah," he spoke up enough to be heard. "What is under the last tarp?"

Bit of a rough week, ceilings leaking, there is a hole in the roof, hoping the landlords come soon.

That sucks and I hope things get better for you.

As Leo expected, Baxter was disappointed by the news of there being no party. More like sadden since his smile was gone, so that was clear. Leo is not the one who likes being the bearer of bad news, but Baxter should know that. Plus, who knows when the next party will be with River in charge, and the true purpose of camp is to train. He tried giving a sympathetic smile to try to lighten the mood. Leo did not know if that worked or not, but it was an attempt, at least.

Still, Leo tried to get a better bead on Baxter and once again. During the silence after he spoke, Baxter seemly not wanting to say anything. Does he have no questions or anything? Leo figured he would have some, considering he somehow did not know about training or did he? No answers so far from Baxter, and he still proved to be an enigma to Leo.

Then Baxter spoke, and Leo was right. His name is Baxter, and that means he was the only one who skipped training today. When saw Baxter's open hand. Leo shook it with a firm handshake. "Leo, Leo Lancaster" Leo again saying his name to Baxter, only this time, including his last name. Though Leo had already provided Baxter with his name, he felt like maybe it was needed. Or Leo is just being on the safe side of things.

Now Baxter had questions and questions that Leo could answer. "I recommend going to the arena since you missed training and could maybe get some training in." Leo's face looked uneasy, "though I am not sure how River handles people who miss training." More so, people who miss the first day of training. "So far, physical training, as in an obstacle course. Though it is only the first day, and I do not know what the other days of training will be like." Something that Leo would like to know, but he will find out tomorrow either way.

"It is not a football team thing, but apparently, the purpose of this camp is to train. For what I do not know, but yeah. People here are expected to train." Leo tried to reassure Baxter. "I know some people here are not athletic like me or some of the others who passed. But, you can get the hang of it if you try." Though how bad he can be, Leo cannot say. Though hopefully better than some of the people who failed, and hopefully does not throw up at the end.

Leo saw how Baxter's grin got significantly bigger and wondered what caused the sudden move. "So you want directions to the arena?" He asked Baxter not sure of what his next words would be."It is not far from here."

For decades the elven kingdom of Shau Drela has been in a cold war with the human republic of Skania. Bitter rivals that had been at each other's throats ever since the devastating Zuaan War fifteen years ago when they worked together as allies against the aggressive Zuaan empire that sought to reconquer the continent of Iyor.

Though Shau Drela, Skania and their allies won the war, it was not without great cost and bitter regret. The greatest example of this was elven general Tathaln Virmaer who strived to win no matter the cost. During a key battle in the Kingdom of Edron, on his own volition and without consulting anyone, Tathaln used an experimental bomb that while it wiped out the Zuaan army and allowed the allies to win the day. It caused significant friendly casualties and civilian deaths. Along with destroying the battlefield that they were defending which contained the Edronan's capital and caused massive environmental damage that contaminated the area with deadly chemicals. Turning the once lush landscape into a land devoid of life along with it poisoning a major river that ran through the capital.

Tathaln was at first was not arrested for this despite pleas by the Edronans for he was too valuable to the war effort. Once the war was over, the Shau Drela king, King Sudryal Raloven did his best to protect Tathaln from being arrested and being tried for what he did. But, opposition mainly from Sudryal's daughter, Princess Aleratha, forced Sudryal's hand and Tathaln was brought to trial. For his actions, Tathaln was found guilty and was sentenced to life in captivity. The night before he reached his prison cell, an unknown group ambushed the convoy and freed Tathaln. It was rumored that King Sudryal was behind the breakout. Because of this, Sudryal's attempts to protect Tathaln and growing resentment for Shau Drela caused a rift between the allies. Eventually, it formed a cold war between the two nations with other nations picking sides or choosing to stay neutral.

Tensions are high, and there is a real chance of war between the Shau Drela and Skania, there is a chance for peace. The Shau Drela, with Aleratha now the queen of the kingdom, has though diplomatic efforts with Skania have managed to arrange a diplomatic summit with the goal of ending the animosity between the two nations. The summit will be held in the neutral kingdom of Ostrar, and everyone is watching to see its outcome.
