He didnt know why, or how, but this raven haired girl had a way of making him smile and helping melt his worries away. He was starting to wonder if her mutation didn't give her the ability of empathy or control over others emotions. His lips began to curl at the corners, a smile threatening to overtake his face as she finished her uplifting speech and held his hand pulling him inside. He'd never been to a bar before, only knew them from movies or T.V. shows that he'd watch growing up. Max immediately scanned the area as he walked in, taking in the sights, the people, and looking for any other doors or exitways where they might be or in need of a quick escape. He noticed a door marked with a sign that signaled it was stairs leading down into a basement. Well if that wasn't exactly what was needed he didn't know what was. Now the question was how to enter it. In D&D it would be as easy as a sleep spell, but no one here had the ability to calm people down enough to slumber, nor the ability just just make them pass out. Not unless Glimpse was capable with her telepathy.

That thought was placed on pause as Max noticed a man standing by Jack, speaking what appeared to be casually. Was this a bar that Jack frequented? Ome druggie and an alcoholic? No, that couldnt be it, old acquaintance? Real.old by the looks of it. It didn't quite sit right with Max, it appeared the blonde family was all chummy at their table, a few of the team hit the bar but Jack was the only one speaking to someone aside from Glimpse at the other bartender. Max took the seat next to Leighton, having heard the barman ask if there was anything he quickly added. "Coronoa Extra, Lime and salt, wings-hot, celery and blue cheese please." He wasn't quite sure what all the cocktails were, nor did he want to pick a drink overly effeminate for fear of being beaten up in a bar during a mission. A Corona would have to do. He began to tug on his sleeve as his stomach began to turn, he hadn't actually come out to anyone, fear always lingering about how he'd be perceived by others. But being around Leighton and the others, it made him feel a lot safer, and he needed to make sure he had their backs too.

He began to eavesdrop on Jack's conversation, listening in for any clues he may be getting, or any details to explain who this stranger was. The more he knew the less he'd have to be filled in later. This wasn't exactly the information he had expected to hear coming from the two. Max let go of his sleeve, his eyes glancing over to Leighton as he turned his head and covered his mouth so only she could see it. He mouthed to her saying what the fuck?. That walking bag of leather was somehow Jack's father, and more so, Jack apparently had a child. He wasn't sure if his not knowing of it made him more or less irresponsible than leaving a kid behind to play superhero detective. Or perhaps that's why he was so good with Sunshine was because he's already been through it all with his own child? This wasn't the mystery they were there to solved but it was definitely something to hold on to.

Jinx beemed as Emma agreed that he deserved something worth equal value. Too caught up on the high of the kill to notice the venom in her words as she spoke. Before he knew it she had grabbed hold of his body and flown him across the room closer to her. The rubber tips of his converse squeaking a bit as he was initially dragged, his eyes widening as he realized he may of just messed up. Once the motion had stopped, all the tension that surrounded his body had moved over his throat and began to conatrict the air flowing into him. It would be cool in a Darth Vader way had it not been his own life on the line. He could feel the lack of oxygen as he tried to breathe, short small gasps of air barely reaching his lungs as she droned on about some Greek Tragedy. His eyes darted around looking to see if no one would help him and it was there he realized he was truly alone. Figures. She kept mentioning a word, one he didn't quite understand and could hardly think of as the blood pounded in his ears and the lack of oxygen began to make him giggle.

The laughter was in short bursts, interspersed between gasps for air until finally it all stopped. Her grip was released and he fell to the ground on all fours gasping for air, as the wind got sucked up harshly, burning his lungs until he was finally able to stabilize his breath. He felt his hands around his neck for a moment, rubbing it softly. He stood up slowly, his eyes never leaving Emma's as he backed away slowly towards the elevator. After a few paces he finally turned his back and felt his phone crble within his pocket. Fuck. Why was Magneto so upset? He had some spicy info on a nazi box and figured Magneto would want to know about it. Probably still bitter about leaving the Beotherhood to join the richer version with a lot less family values. He ignored the Three in One speaking about him and just made his way into the elevator, waiting for the door to close before finally speaking. "Does anyone know what this Clamydia thing she kept going on about is?"

"Yeah, you left it at my place last time you came. It seemed a bit chilly out and it was the closest thing I could grab so we weren't late for your errand." Lies. That was a complete and utter lie. Why couldn't he just tell him how he felt? It didn't matter. "We should probably get going right?"

”Yeah. You can borrow it for the day then.” Colby said and led the way to the apartment’s garage where his old car was parked. ”Sorry the car is a bit of a mess. I haven’t cleaned it all semester.” He climbed into the driver’s seat. Colby wasn’t that great of a driver either, but he could get from point a to point b at least.

"That's not a problem, I'm sure its fine" It wasn't fine. He had moved a few things off of the passenger seat, placing them in the back where he could find a few spots. Most of what was left was at his feet and he just gently nudged it over so he had a modicum of room for his legs.

Once they were both buckled in Colby started driving. He didn’t say much but his hands worried over the driving wheel and his face seemed tense as well. He took a deep breath as he debated how much to tell Mathew. Colby opened his mouth to say something and then closed it before asking, ”So how’s Caroll?”

The silence was nerve-wracking as he watched Colby’s nervous hands. Was he trying to confess something? Ask him out? Or was this errand really so frightening? He wanted to ask but the words got caught in his throat. Finally Colby started to speak, and of course, it was about his cat. Maddy let go of a breath he didn't know he was holding before speaking up. "He's fine. Caught him napping on your jacket earlier today. I think he misses you, should come around more often...spend the night maybe...i-I-if you w-want to tha-that is."

Colby glanced at Mathew for a few seconds as he stuttered. His eyes softened a bit, then he quickly looked back at the road. ”It might be easier to study there instead of with my four obnoxious roommates. Maybe I’ll bring up Jack and see if the two get along and play with each other. It’d be good for them both.”

Maddy couldn't help but give out a nervous chuckle. "Yeah, that could be a lot of fun. I'm sure the two of them would be close buds. Of course, you're also m-more than welcome to do your homework o-over at my place...I don't mind." Play it cool Maddy, he already agreed no need to mess it up. He turned and gave Colby a smile as he thought of him spending the night there.

Colby nodded. His mind was less on the conversation and more on the letter in his pocket. He knew Mathew liked him more than he liked him back, or maybe it was best to say in a different way. And Mathew was an okay dude, though nervous and even though he liked magic Colby knew he’d never be able to be on stage. Mathew wouldn’t be able to handle it. ”Thanks.” He said back and fell into silence. Colby didn’t have to consult any maps or google as he had already looked at the route he would need to get to the orphanage ages ago.

As the pair of them grew closer and closer to Colby's secret destination, Maddy began to have flashbacks of distant memories he has sense tried to repress. The streets, signs, buildings all looked too familiar as his heart began to pound in his chest. He looked onwards, only glancing sparingly towards Colby as he wondered where it was that he was taking them. If it was for the jacket sleeve he had halfway down his hand, surely his nails would've bitten into his skin and caused him to bleed.

The tall building loomed over him as they finally reached it, a place so ominous to Maddy that he could swear he heard the sound of crows in the distance. The building was made of a red brick exterior, accented by wooden black shutters, panes, and roof, with a small white stoop just before the obsidian colored doors. This was the orphanage that Maddy had grown up in, and this was the source of many of his nervous ticks and twitches. The place full of nothing but misery and despair as far as he was concerned.

Colby exited the car and stared at the building before them. He had no memories tied to the place. For him, it had been a shortstop between barely held memories and a fairly normal childhood. His jaw tightened and then he said. ”I was adopted from here.” He said a slight tone of anger in his voice. ”I just found out after I turned eighteen.”

Maddy remained in the car for a moment after Colby left, fear still clinging to his chest. He finally found the courage to get out when he heard Colby speak, saying he had just found out he was adopted from this place. Was he the friend from the letter? It all just kept adding up. But why come back here? "I'm...I'm so sorry. H-honestly I-I was a b-bit worried as to w-why we're here. See I...I…" the words choked up in his throat again as tears threatened to well up in his eyes. "I g-g-grew up here. T-till I w-was eighteen."

Colby shifted as Mathew spoke, concern crossed his expression proving Colby was capable of human emotions. ”I didn’t know.” He said softly. ”If you don’t want to go in, I understand. You can stay in the car. I just want to see if they have records on who my real parents are.”

Maddy ran over to where Colby stood and took his hand into his, holding it tightly. "No, I'll go with you. I'm here for you, heh s-see didn't even stutter." He beamed another smile at Colby as he held tight.

Colby blinked a little startled when Mathew took his hand but nodded. There wasn’t much need to say anything else he thought. Then he started walking inside. He had not seen the interior of the orphanage to his memory and wasn’t certain if there was an office or something. There had to be but it wasn’t like he knew where it was.

Inside of the orphanage, there was a younger woman who was sitting at the receptionist’s desk when she stopped and looked up at both Maddy and Colby who just entered. “Is there anything I can help you two with?” She asked.

Maddy shrunk behind Colby, his hand still holding on as he gently pushed Colby forward, nudging him to speak.

”Hello, my name is Colby Jackson. I was adopted from here, uh. When I was two, so sixteen years ago. I was wondering if you had records on my birth parents.” Colby spoke up first not wanting Mathew to feel like he needed to talk. He had taken a half step closer almost protecting him from the woman.

She nodded towards them and started to type away at her computer, as well as Colby’s name as she searched the database. “Looking at the file here, there isn’t much other than a stranger dropping you off here, didn't give us a name or anything sorry.”

”Oh. Thank you though. I appreciate you looking.” He looked to Mathew, almost asking if he wanted to ask the woman anything as well. He squeezed his hand slightly giving him encouragement if he needed it. As he tried to parse what that all meant. He had no more lead here. What did that mean for the letter writer? Where they the unnamed stranger who had dropped him off as a toddler?

Maddy stayed behind Colby, using him as a shield as he spoke through him. "H-h-hi I'm M-Matthew Madigan. I-I g-grew up here a-as well. I-I left three years ago w-when I turned eighteen, d-do you have any r-records on my parents?"

She nodded and started to type in again with Mathew’s name and leaned back a little bit as she searched through the database again. When the results came again she looked up at the two of them for a moment. “Sadly nothing on your parents either, but you were dropped off at around the same time though.”

”Thank you.” Colby said for both of them. The confusion was clear on his face, but he figured the woman couldn’t help them anymore. He led Mathew out of the orphanage at that point and back to his car. He didn’t say anything else until they were both in his car again. ”Okay...that can’t be normal right?” He asked Mathew.

Maddy shook his head no, as he sat there and debated on whether he sure try one last time, for old times sake. It was the one sentence he could always say without so much as a stutter. "Hey Colby...Why is a Raven like a writing desk?" He sat there and watched his expressions to see if he knew.

”Cause Poe wrote on both.” Colby said the joke response almost reflexively. He knew it was a reference and was actually supposed to be unanswerable. At least it had been in the Alice books, but a lot of people had come up with responses. This was his favorite. Colby looked at Mathew a little confused though. ”Not sure what it has to do with us both having been dropped off at the same orphanage, around the same time, by some mysterious stranger.” Colby frowned. ”I have something to show you. It is why I cam here.”

Maddy frowned as Colby responded. He had heard that response before, same tone and said word for word. He didn't know how, but somehow he knew that deep inside of him that answer was wrong. It wasn't what he was searching for. Maddy pulled out his wallet and fiddled with it for a while before finally breaking the silence. "Show me yours and I'll show you why I asked."

Colby nodded and pulled the slightly beat-up letter from his jacket pocket. He handed it over to Mathew. ”I got this today. I hadn’t told anyone I was adopted and my parents didn’t tell me until just a few months ago. So, as far as I know, three people...well four now, know I was adopted.”

"Thanks for trusting me with knowing this." He fiddled with the letter, feeling the same texture as the parchment used for the one he'd gotten earlier today as well. His heart began to race once more as he hesitated opening it. Instead, he slipped out a small bit of paper, stark white even after all these years with vibrant green ink writing on it. It simply asked, "Why is a raven like a writing desk." He handed it over to Colby. "You're the only one besides my manager who knows I'm an orphan. This note was hidden away inside the hat they had found me with, the only thing I have linking me to my life before. No one’s been able to answer this riddle and I just…"

His eyes began to well up again as he wiped away tears and shook his head. It’s been three years since he left and that place still had a vice on him. Maddy opened up the letter and began to read it over and over again as if he was going Mad.

Taking the white piece of paper from Mathew, it felt like the paper was important. Maybe that was just everything Mathew had put into it over the years trying to decipher the impossible riddle. Colby stared at the writing. It didn’t match the writing in his letter. As Mathew’s eyes teared up Colby wished he had some tissues in the car, but he did find a towel, which he offered to Mathew. Then waited as Mathew read over the letter.

”You know Lewis Caroll. Oh, I just got your cat’s name is a reference to that. So you probably already know but when Caroll wrote the book he never had an answer for that riddle. It was supposed to be unanswerable.” He said after a moment to fill the silence.

Maddy took the towel and wiped his eyes, not even wondering where that thing had been nor how long it had been there. He sniffled a few times. "Yeah...but...I just know there's an answer out there and I have a feeling my parents would know it. But every time I ask I get the same response." He held onto the letter and gripped it tighter before finally laying it on his lap and pulling his out of his pant pocket. "I got one too...the letter. At first, I thought it was you, it was signed your friend and I just...but it couldn't be so now I don't know…"

Colby’s eyes widened when Mathew pulled the letter out of his pocket. He thought ‘way to burry the lead’, but bit the comment back. He wasn’t mad at Mathew and he didn’t deserve the snap even though he knew it would feel good. Colby breathed through his teeth then let it out before saying ”Okay, so we were both dropped off at the same orphanage by some mysterious stranger about fifteen years ago. Now we both have letters claiming our bio parents are out there alive and need our help. I-” He paused uncertain of where he was going with this thought process. There were a few options. ”Obviously we have to go to the park. Neither of us are in trouble so we don’t have to go early, but this person is clearly watching the park. I vote we go to the park and see who is watching it.”

Maddy nodded his head in agreement. He held out his left hand towards Colby. "Mind if I have my note back? And...mind if I hold your hand on the way there?" his hand was visibly shaking in fear and anxiety that was bubbling inside. This was not how he had planned for his day to happen, but here he was in Colby's car going to meet a stranger in a park.

Colby handed the note back. ”I guess since we are admitted deep truths about ourselves. I really suck at driving and don’t know how I feel about driving with one hand, but as long as I’m not making turns it should be okay.” Today had not gone how he had expected, though Colby was certain at this point he was going to be ditching his class. What were the odds that he had made friends with the one person who lived in his apartment building, was dropped at the same orphanage as a child as him and had gotten a letter from some mysterious stranger? He wasn’t fantastic at math, but it had to be astronomical. How much of his life had been set up by this stranger? Colby had to admit he did feel a kindred nature with Mathew and that was why he had spoken to him in the first case.

Max hadn't minded too much when Casper offered to fetch Jack a new shirt. He was embarrassed as is with having his magic screw up so badly and even more so that it had harmed Jack in the process. His gaze hovered over the blonde telekinetic girl once again as she practically tried to rouse a compliment from his lips. "I wouldn't say it's the magnitude of your powers that scares me, although they're nothing to sneeze at, it's more the fact that in the other reality...the other you...tried to kill me. You lifted me up and tossed me out a window several stories high. So my apologies to all when I'm not over the moon at just blindly trusting the woman who tried to kill me." Max turned his gaze away from her, trying not to meet her eyes. Both her appearance and demeanor reminded him too much of Emma Frost and that was another name he wished not to remember. He looked towards Jack, taking in the sight before it would be taken away, blushing slightly and then being hit with regret as he saw a few of the burn marks. "I'm sorry...really I am." It was a bitter sweet apology as the words "Next time" ran on repeat in his head. Does this mean he held a chance? Was he saying there would be another time to see him shirtless? He lowered his head a bit meekly as a smile spread that he tried to hide.

Then ofcourse there was Klara. Running her mouth again about the world and taking the visual beauty away from Max no sooner than he had caused it. At least if Casper had fetched the shirt he'd be like that for a while longer but oh well. There was a bit of a race...species? Pissing contest of midgardian vs Asgardian between Casper and her and Max had to side with Casper. Oh god Max had to side with Casper, ew. Max stretched out his hand towards Anastasia and offered it as an olive branch. "Names Tome. Welcome along. Now let's say we follow that red head to where ever she's going g so we can meet this famous swamp rat and figure out a plan to take on the wicked bitch of the west. It's going to take aot of trust, and a lot of teamwork to pull this off. We hardly got away last time and now she may be expecting a fight, so let's stay together, alert, and work as one otherwise...this may be the end of it all. No pressure."

Demetri's attention was momentarily grasped as he watched one of the two new kids get claimed. He recognized the symbol immediately from one of the old texts he used to read, only having it be confirmed by Chiron shortly after that she was indeed a child of Hypnos. As he stared on for moments longer while Andy was speaking to the other campers that came towards them, he began to think upon what she was given. A strange container filled with some sort of liquid. He racked his brain trying to find the answer when something clicked. It wasn't just some liquid, this had to be a vial filled with water from the River of Lethe. His leg began to jitter as he wondered if he should warn her not to drink it, it seemed like a odd thing to do, tell someone not to drink a strange liquid, it was almost obvious and thus made it seem like he would be patronizing her. As he bit his lower lip his attention was called back when Zeke spoke up to him. He didn't blush, but boy was he close to doing so.

There wasn't a clever retort, witty comeback, or simple jest he could think of to get him out of this one. Zeke had simply won this round, but that meant that card was now off the table. " Sounds more like a blessing on his end if you ask me. You may not like it Zeke-y but this is what peak male performance looks like" Demetri flexed showing off absolutely no muscle tone and just a pasty white arm. Hopefully that little bit of a hand Tammy gave him would help him back on top of the zingers. Before he knew it Kristin know it all Reynolds told the newbie of her new found forget me not. Well that clears that off the board for him at least. Demetri tussled Andy and Andy's hair as he walked past the two and headed for the pavilion. "Well this foods not going to eat itself...it is?"

As Maddy lay there, upside down, on his couch, he crossed his legs placing them along the wall as he reached for the remote and attempted to turn on the T.V. The controller clicked but nothing seemed to happen no matter how furiously he pressed the button nor with repeated attempts. There was a groan of aggravation as he wondered what else could possibly go wrong today. He slowly slid off the couch, cocking his head to the right as he did so that his body just schlumped off onto the ground before finally standing up and checking to make sure the T.V. was plugged in. He went to try for his kitchen light, see if it was an electrical problem and there was a slight flicker before it stayed off. "Carroll what's going on this time? I'm sure I paid the bill this month." Maddy lazily walked around the apartment, noticing the timers on all his electronics were now off, the AC had stopped responding, and the fridge light wouldnt turn on. Luckily for him he hadn't gone grocery shopping yet so none of the food in there could spoil with this inconvenience. As he leaned against the granite counter top, the jacket pressed up and the scent of Colby wafted to him once more, bringing a Cheshire smile to his face. "I wonder what Colbys up to. What do you think Carrol, should I text him?" Mwrow. "I agree, let's see if he wants to come and play."

"Hey Colby, what're you up to? You're off today right?"
"Hope not bothering you."
Maddy made his way back onto the couch, his leg shaking in anticipation and anxiety. As soon as his phone chimed with a notification his face beamed.
"I have class at 1. I was about to run an errand."
The feeling however didnt last as he read on and saw his Hope's of seeing him today dwindle.
"Oh...ok. Sorry, my power just went out so I didn't really have much i could do, thought maybe we could..."
There was a long delay as Maddy threw his phone onto a nearby throw pillow and buried his face in another screaming as he thought to himself. How could I be so stupid? Ofcourse he doesnt want to see me. His phone finally chimed once more and he rapidly pulled it off the pillow reading the message. His face turning into a silly smile again as he saw himself invited to his special errand.
"If you want to come with I guess you can. But if you literally ever tell anyone where we went I'll never speak to you again."
"You've got my word! I'll be right over!"

Maddy quickly changed out of his work outfit and into some newer clothes. Opting to wear a burnt orange button up, some brown skinny jeans, boots and then Colbys purple jacket; taking a second to let the warmth take over him as he skipped out of his apartment door and went to fetch his bike incase it was needed, but then recalled the power off could mean the elevators weren't in use. He had decided to bring the letter with him incase it came up so he could ask if he was the one who wrote him the letter. As he sped off towards Colbys apartment, his feet rapped against the wooden stairs as he tried not to trip from his careless sprinting. Once he reached Colbys floor he opened the door leading into the hallway and sent him another text.
"I'm here."

River

The fight had seemed a tad anticlimactic. With the stats and abilities that these creatures had, you would think that they were pack hunters that traveled in larger sizes than two. But hey, he wouldnt look a gift horse in the mouth. As River went to put his wand away, there began a cacophony of chittering that surrounded the party. At once these agile monsters ambushed Ceclia and River could just watch at they took their surprise round upon her. There was a certain gracefulness to how Cecilia fought, dodging each and every one of them and managing to trip quite a few of the chitters so that they laid prone on the ground. Perfect. River held his wand out in his left hand, static beginning to form at its tip before arcing over to his right hand and back again. The smell of ozone building up until he outstretched his right arm, fingers forward, as the lightning danced from his hand to the third Chitter, then the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh. His Energize ability proc'd and the spell duplicated, this time staring with the seventh Chitter and working it's way backwards towards the third.

Salem began to follow the two out of the ballroom, his eyes affixed to Max's belt prong as he noticed there was no blood on it, nor anywhere on him. Perhaps he wasn't the killer after all, perhaps he was just a passerby that happened to stumble upon the corpse at the wrong time. As they were walking, Max droned on and on about some gaudy centerpiece and Salem for the most part wondered why. It took him a moment until it clicked and he realised Max was smarter than he looked and could actually speak like those above him. Perhaps he could be polished up, maybe he wasnt shit but just coal that needed to be pressed harder in the right conditions in order to become a diamond. But all of this was speculation that immediately left his mind as he watched the young made wander over to a plate of food like a lost dog. How could he possibly think of food at a time like this? Maybe Salem did need Lilie, or maybe he should get Aaron as well. She'd want to be clued in and Aaron would be able to meet with the Princess if needed. No. He wouldnt soul his friends evenings just because he was unsure if he could handle it himself.

They proceeded forward and eventually made their way to the corpse that lay there lifeless. Eris now taking in the scene for the first time, clearly noticing things that he couldnt beforehand. His enhanced senses would be a great help at his clinic, maybe he could speak to him about helping out there. Tell him the charity work would look amazing for his image and it would bring great press and attention towards him. Salem shook his head as now wasnt the time for such fantasies. Eris called for one of them to fetch a guard while the other stand watch. "Max, go fetch the guards and tell them about what you've found so far. I'll stay here with Eris and begin creating a barrier to make it harder for the others to see." He looked around and began to scratch the back of his neck as he noticed all there was was grass nearby. No matter, he could work with it.

Salem made sure his sleeves were down, dulling the glow of his tattoos so that he wouldnt be noticed as he stretched his hands out and began to focus on the grass around the body. He could see his magic extending from the blades of grass like thin tendrils that slowly crawled upwards towards the sky. Those closer to the body grew larger than the ones further away, attempting to make the scene seem more like a small hill of grass and less like a mound that was forgotten to be cut. As he focused his magic on it the grass began to grow and move along the lines of magic he had laid out for them, making it more difficult to spot the body but not fully hiding it. His tattoos stopped glowing and he reached for his flask, taking a drink before placing it back. "Think that should help enough Er- Mr. Samael."

Max blushed up slightly as Leighton praised him. It may not of been much, but it was always nice to be helpful for a change. He sat there worried at the next time he may mess things up, whether it was creating a large fire, summoning the wrong thing, or accidentally killing someone due to an error on his part, it was bound to happen and he didnt know why. He stared onto the newly made license for a moment, letting himself relish in his accomplishment for just a moment longer before he heard something that snapped him out of it. Glimpse had asked about using her skills to pry into the minds of others, that was definitely something to note about her. Man, her skill set is so cool, telepathy is like hero one o one and here she was with it, perhaps she had the other mental skills too. Max placed the ID into his wallet, removing his real one and placing that between the pages of his book. The last thing he needed was for his actual one to be seen.

Veil began to tell Max how he should make an ID for Sunhsine as well, the idea of which was absolutely preposterous to him. He could dress her up, give her a fake ID, and make her look like a mature adult, but that impudent child would never be able to pull it off. She was a stubborn, spoiled, immature, brat who couldnt see passed her own nose. Never the less, Max would oblige and create one for her. Now the question was, is she Regina George or Gretchen Weiner? It seemed it wouldnt matter, because true to her form, Sunshine refused his help and insisted she could do it on her own. Good, no need to waste his energy on her then. He simply smiled and shrugged at Veil in a "if she doesnt want it she doesnt want it" sort of way.

They finally arrived and one by one the groups were going in. Leighton and Max being the last to make an appearance. He took one step forward and then stopped, turning to face Leighton with a conflicted look upon his face. As he stood there he began to fiddle with his thumbs, his right foot digging into the ground around them as he kicked small items away from him before finally speaking. "Hey...Leighton...what do you think of the extra curricular we're in? I cant make heads or tails on of it was a good choice or not...if I was a good choice..." He gave her a look, hoping she'd understand he meant the Underground, not wanting to say its name incase the Hellfire club, or one of their affiliates were around. Let alone any purifiers or anti-mutant citizens.

This was an outrage, preposterous even if Jinx knew the word. His rage changed from Shaw over to Emma. How could she claim herself to be two spots and just hand one over to Anastasia. He's the one who Jinxed him, he's the one that sullied his hands with blood for the Club, he should be given the spot not her. "I was promised a reward for my help in finding the theif of the sentinels as well as for taking them down. I want my reward, and seeing as how the spots been filled I believe I need something of equal or greater value. It was obvious that Shaw wanted you and Reeva out of the picture, it's why he assigned two agents to this task, one to replace each of you when you fell. But I didn't Jinx you no, I jinxed him because I knew where my loyalties lied and I demand to be repaid for them!" Pink energy crackled between his fingers as he clenched his fists in anger.

With his mind racing, he looked over towards Anastasia and then Three in One with a smile. He could practically taste the jealousy on the triplets, and who would blame them? They're Emma's blood and unlike Magneto she passed up any chance for them and gave them to a stuck up telekinetic witch. If there was one thing Jinx was sure of, it was that he couldnt stay in the room with Emma without attempting to spray her blood like Shaws was. So what better way to let off steam than to board a train and cause some mayhem. "Do as you wish, but I think I'll catch that train after all, still got steam to blow and itll prove a fun distraction to say the least. But I expect my payment upon my return of this mission you hear me Frost? And Magneto, I may need your help with something later, but who knows if you will be able to." Jinx pulled out his phone and messaged Casper once more
"Bad news, the drugs are no longer quid pro. Gotta pay up or risk losing them.🙃"

Max's cheeks went red as Jack told him that wasn't how to got someones shirt off. Thinking on the embarrassment of what he'd just said and done, but if there was anything about Max now, was that he'd try and double down on this already horrid situation. "Then how would you go about getting someone to-" before he could even finish his sentence, the blonde bitch from the Hellfire Club has made her way over to the group and smacked him so hard he fell to the floor. In that instant there were two flashes of power. The first was when she made contact with his cheek, his eyes glowed as they tended to do when using his powers, however I stead of removing Jack's shirt it was his that went missing. The second, was when Max hit the floor. In a reactionary response his magic had gone awry and lit Jack's shirt on fire as he went tumbling down. It wasn't apparent at first, not till after James helped Max up did the fires begin to lick up on Jack's top.

Max had every intention on removing Anastasia from the playing field, he knew she was dangerous and for a brief moment contemplated how much better the other reality would be if she wasnt in it. That thought was however railroaded when flashes of memories hit him again, the loss of the cops and the blood on his hands. His stomach churned for a moment before it passed. Right. Murder was never the answer, there was always a high road, a way to do things right. Max picked his cane up as he allowed himself to be lifted by James, using it as a crutch to help him up. He let the dopey mechanic speak for a moment and then Jack, each thinking of a different solution for how to find Gambit and Rogue. "I think Jack's got the right of it at this time. My powers just went haywire and I'm not sure what'll happen if my spell does more than just fail. As for you." He glared at Ana with fiery eyes as he spoke. "It seems this version of you isn't the same as the one I know. Stick around and perhaps we can work together. After all we could sure use your skillset on the upcoming fight. Now let's go see this Mary about a swamprat."

As they made their way out of the safe zone and into the jungle, the growth was becoming thicker and harder to move past. The humidity in the air was clinging to his skin as his ginger locks began to droop and glue themselves onto his face. The environment didnt bother him too much, having been in enclosures with similar atmospheres for the animals, as well as having been to a fee rainforests in field studies for college. He began to think back to his time in Costa Rica, a very similar climate to this one and with an exceptionally refreshing drink called Horchata. Rivers mind wandered as he thought of the cold drink and began to wonder if they sold it in town or if any of his guild mates had a culinary skill to be able to replicate it in game. "When we're done with this does anyone have-"

He cut himself off as he noticed a pair of blue prints off to the side. His eyes followed the markings, a larger creature with wide set feet that seemed to dig a bit deeper into the hot soil on the ground. Danger level moderate? Perhaps they were territorial creatures like rhinoceroses? All theyd have to do is make sure they don't provoke the beasts and press forward searching for their targets. His eyes began to scan the surroundings for more tracks, now piecing together the large plants with having to fo with larger creatures, namely dinosaurs so far. He whispered out to the group "Theres a pod of triceratops over there, they won't attack us but if we give them reason to they can be quite dangerous. Let's try to avoid them while we're searching for chitters."

As on queue, two medium sized creatures came out from the underbrush, chattering to each other and seemingly communicating with both sound and frill flairs. A new notification popped up on Rivers screen and his eyes went wide. Before he was capable of saying anything Cecilia proved her speed and rushed forward attacking them. Stupid stupid stupid. "Cecilia watch out their dangerous! Willow go with Ceci and keep her healed. Holly you're with me, we need to split these two up and hope more don't come out. They gain bonuses when they're attacking the same target." River started making his was towards the right of Cecilia, trying to put some distance between them but still keep them in sight. "They have an ability called Venom Spray it's an AoE dot that deals poison damage. Keep your eyes peeled because they seem to be great at stealth so there may be more we don't know of. Or...they could die by just your hands..."
