Men don't have it easy do they?

The male is expected to approach the female with an expression of interest. All the risk of rejection, embarrassment and inadequacy is therefore on the male. And don't forget to account for her hypergamy - she is of course entitled to 'have it all'.

Then the male is expected to pay for all dates, meals and supply of gifts. Asking or wanting the female to do her fair share is 'ungentlemanly' and frowned upon - and just cause for instant dismissal as 'not being compatible'.

I do understand that men don't have it easy, but the judging goes both ways. For example: if a woman were to approach a guy and express interest, she will most probably be considered desperate, fast or easy. As for the whole 'guy is expected to pay for dates, gifts and such', that can sometimes be because the guy is too proud to let a girl pay for things. I'm the kind to spoil my boyfriend with gifts and pay for everything on dates, but I've found myself with guys who refuse for me to do so because they don't feel comfortable with it. So, in my opinion, it's something that depends from person to person. :)
