Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

... Okay, I'm going to give you a chance again.

You do honestly seem like you acknowledge you were causing trouble back then. I don't really like barring people from my RP's unless it's absolutely necessary.

I will say that I'll keep an eye out for any of that behavior, because I'm still wary after having trouble with people before. But you seem honest and I'd rather not force people not to participate in my RP's.
Mimori's Police Instincts Take Over

For a moment, everything seemed to slow down, promptly, as the explosion went off. Mimori shut her eyes, but it felt like it had taken forever, as opposed to the instant it had actually taken. The sound hit her, and she felt her ears ringing in the wake of the blast. It was hard to describe an explosion. It was more then just 'boom', it was kind of a very fast roaring sound intermixed with the sound of various objects breaking. After she felt it stop, more then she heard it, her eyes snapped open. There were a set of procedures to conduct as of now. It came to her instantly, as she took a deep breath and shouted, trying to project her voice as loudly as she could manage.

"STAY CALM," she called, "GET AWAY FROM THE AREA IN AN ORDERLY FASHION! STICK CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER TO AVOID GETTING LOST IN THE SMOKE!"

Mimori couldn't guarantee that this would work, but she hoped that at least a few people, especially those she was working with, would heed her advice and stick close to one another.

Miyu, oops

"... Aww, jeez, that didn't work?" Miyu frowned, folding her arms. Maybe she needed to work on making even more powerful explosions... that had to be it. Though... had it bounced back? It was moving so fast Miyu couldn't tell. What about these walls looked reflective? There was nothing that Miyu could see that made them look that way. Her explodey laser should have just exploded! There should have been some sort of warning! This was dumb! Really dumb! "That was just stupid, wasn't it, Takeyo..."

She trailed off as she turned towards the tengu and found him flat on his back and smoking. Oops. Realizing that he had indeed been struck by the blast, she quickly hurried around behind him and started to push him onto his feet, to get him back up. It seemed like the blast had decreased in power and not done any serious harm, but... ooops. Putting effort into her thin arms, Miyu managed to slowly get Takeyoshi back to his feet. It wasn't exactly easy given the angle and the fact she was physically a small nine or ten year old, but she managed as best she could.

"Hmph, stupid walls not just exploding like they're supposed to..." she complained, frowning deeply, "... Are you okay?"
@SleepingSilence: Well... I wasn't really accepting claims on character classes, but someone called thief before you did, and I've been helping them work out their character. Since they came first it would be a bit unfair to make them scrap the work I've been helping them with. If you want something like that, I'm sure there's other light combat classes that don't overlap.

Also... Hundi actually can lie, it's just culturally not highly-thought-of to tell falsities. Lies of omission are totally okay though, and just because you're honorable doesn't mean you can't hide a bunch of archers to force your opponent to have an honorable duel if he gets any funny ideas about using dishonorable methods after your challenge. Or like, a lot of things in warfare for that matter are lies of omission. All hundi are also combat-trained, even your most basic farming family will have every single member of it capable of picking up a weapon of some sort and fighting. So basically, it's not just something you get from coming from a line of fighters if you're a hundi. Or rather, EVERY family is a line of fighters in addition to whatever else it is they do.

@IncredibleBee: I'm afraid I'm going to have to reject you. It's become very obvious to me that we really, really don't work well together. You had a lot of issues with the setting and with my conduct as a GM, and it was to the point where the OOC was one long, extended argument. Obviously I also didn't make the best decisions in the course of that, but it doesn't change the fact that it's clear to me we clash over just about everything. As a result I think we should just stick to other RP's.
@SleepingSilence: It's got plenty of room, the OOC is posted.
Also, if anyone has any questions about the setting I'm happy to answer them. I'd like them asked here so everyone can see the conversations so it clears things up for all the players.
Torako seemed oblivious to anyone who had pointed out her efforts seemed futile. Instead, she proceeded along the dry path, through the forest on either sides, checking every single notable boulder that she could find and thoroughly as possible with their progression upwards. Foliage seemed to grow more and more sparse as they went, and so Torako took note of any odd disturbances in the thinning underbrush as well. Needless to say, the pale-haired girl had the eyes of a hawk. A rather odd, somewhat easily-distracted hawk, but she was looking closely at every little detail. This is, perhaps, why she spotted a rather odd outcropping of rocks and foliage.

If someone hadn't been looking, it wouldn't have seemed too odd. But it was a thicker patch out further then all the rest... placing one hand on Taketori, Torako forged onward, rustling through a few scattered shrubs. It was some mossy stone and plants, in a large patch that looked quick a bit big enough to hide some kind of passage in the ground...

Kneeling down, Torako began pushing rocks out of the way. Something wooden, and certainly man-made, was visible under the plants... which now were clearly not actually attached. Well, some were, but not all of them...

"... There's a wooden thingy! Under the stuff!"

How descriptive.
Lightning magic is a thing beforehand, but he otherwise looks good.
@Anna Sachae: That's fine, that works out fine.

Now, um, my last concern still is about how the RP goes up with the idea that Tanya, a paladin, had to gather up this party, and I'm a little worried about how things will gel given she's religiously-motivated and Charlotte uses demonic pacts, but then that also relies a lot on how demons work in-setting which I haven't fully decided on.

@Diggerton: Okay, that's fine. Accepted.
@Anna Sachae: Hmm, okay, that's good news on the sword then.

That's absolutely fine, then. I was just making sure.

Hmm. The only problem there is that I'm really not sure how demons work so far. I've drawn up two and still don't have much in the way of details for them since they haven't been super-relevant to the setting.

Though... I suppose if it's left vague in terms of the actual demonic entities themselves...
@Anna Sachae: Okay, let's see...

Idea-wise there's nothing terribly wrong here, but I do have some setting-compatibility issues. Also her having a bastard sword that lights on fire is nearly exactly like Tanya even if it's a very different source. ^^;

But anyway, I don't entirely have the things that could provide hellfire(there's demons in setting but they're not very fleshed out) worked out, but there's room for her to be bound to some less-then-pleasant elemental spirits or things of that nature, for sure. In fact, without going into too much details, those are somewhat comparative to fallen angels so that could work out fairly nicely if you want her to have gotten those abilities through darker means.

Last thing is just that "Kael" isn't a canon setting from anything, right? Just so I can easily slot it into an original setting. ^^; If it is, since you don't go into details you could just change the name and that would be that.

... Though I'll admit pacts with evil spirits might be harder to work with religious fighters in the party, but hmmm. I'm perfectly fine with conflict but it does have to avoid outright fighting to kill one another stuff. ^^;

@Diggerton: Hmm, I'm slightly torn on this.

I like the idea of someone who roots out more secretive evil, such as a hidden cult or an evil necromancer hiding himself in a town, but Mayon's combative clergy is typically the more "protective" side of being a religious fighter, while Reon's is your aggressive "protect by seeking out evil and murdering it really hard".

... That being said, I suppose an exception isn't impossible.

Though I'll also point out this setting is relatively light so if he's an inquisitor it probably wouldn't be of the "murder people suspected of potentially being too close to evil at some point" or something like that variety.

@Rin: That should be pretty fun!

@Tachi: And this sounds really entertaining to me, so I can't wait to see how they turn out.
