Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

@HiippoAF: Declined, you cut out the backstory section of the bio. Additionally, you did not take into account spells for his abilities, and seem to have misunderstood the thread as a fantasy RP rather than an Urban Fantasy one.
Interested as discussed so yeah!
@Ginnungagap: Good quality mana in low amounts means you can't do much at one time, but what you can do is very potent. Bad mana but high quantity means you can do a lot, but it's relatively weak.
@Dark Light: Um... I don't see how this is meant to fit in here? ^^;

@Ginnungagap: I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!
@HiippoAF: Yep, feel free to! I'll happily answer any questions you might have about the setting.
@HiippoAF: I restarted it with a hope of filling up a couple lost slots, so it's definitely open.
  • Name: Arinne Velvet Ar-Rynesarte
  • Age: 14
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Arinne has blonde hair, pale skin, and blue eyes. She is very petite, quite short even for her age at below 152.4 cm/5 feet in height.
  • Personality: Arinne has what many would call a bad personality. She is arrogant, self-assured, and manipulative, fond of seeing others struggle and quite eager to make the lives of the people around her harder for her own amusement. Referred to as 'the Blonde Devil' by some senior magi, her attitude is well-known throughout the Tower. To put it simply, Arinne has a sadistic streak. She also enjoys mocking or teasing others, and has nothing but complete confidence in her own capabilities as a mage. Indeed, she is quite proud of her own bloodline, and of her own capabilities. Arinne also has a vengeful, spiteful side. She deeply resents the branch families that sold off portions of the Ar-Rynesarte's assets, even some of the contracts they held, and would take satisfaction in finding some way to undermine or dismantle them the moment she gained the opportunity. However, it is also clear that she has some level of concern for the magi now in her employ, even if she does take pleasure in making life difficult for them and teasing them whenever she has the opportunity. While she will stop at nothing to find her parents' killer, at the very least she does not seem to have any desire to sacrifice those who are under her contract in order to do it. She is very plain about her intentions if the killer is found, however. Arinne plans to kill them. Even if she was not present for the death of her mother and father, even if she does not have many memories of them, she absolutely cannot accept a world in which the one who murdered them walks free and unpunished.
  • Abilities: Arinne's arrogance is not unfounded. A prodigy mage carrying the blood of the Ar-Rynesarte family, she has a large mana supply that is of a very high quality. Her Affinity is Water, and she has a specialization in Ice beyond that. Her magic is therefore best suited to spells relating to flows and cycles, but also to Stillness and Stagnation. Of course, more directly, she can utilize water as a projectile via various spells, and use spells to freeze the moisture in the air into icicle bullets. However, she can also utilize spells to slow or freeze something in place. One particularly unusual spell allows her to convert a solid material into a liquid or vice-versa, though it only functions on inanimate objects and only within a magic circle she has put into place with chalk, making it irrelevant in a direct conflict. Additionally, she has use of the German spell Schattenpfiel, a low-power projectile spell that can be swiftly cast and used without relying on moisture in the air.
  • Skills: Arinne possesses few life skills, but she does seem to know just the right way to tease people.
  • Assets: While some of the Ar-Rynesarte family's assets have been sold off, Arinne still possesses their mansion and a considerable amount of wealth. This includes a large number of maids in her service. With her mansion comes the unique defensive barrier Crystal Killing Array, a defensive system embedded into the foundation of the Ar-Rynesarte mansion. When activated, it begins to manifest as a sheet of liquid that coats the walls and automatically seeks out body heat, attacking it by crystallizing and striking out at the target. If it is activated, any maids in the mansion are quickly called to one room to avoid their being harmed. The system ignores those possessing Ar-Rynesarte blood, but due to its method of tracking it can easily be fooled and it is best suited to penetrating soft targets as opposed to magical defenses or armor.
  • Brief Backstory: Arinne was born into the Ar-Rynesarte family and swiftly prepared to be yet another powerful mage bearing the family name. Her parents rarely spent any time with her, outside of what was necessary to facilitate her growth as a mage, but they were not without care for her. When she was six years old, spending time at the home of a family associate, her parents were suddenly killed. There were no witnesses, but it was undeniably not a natural death, the interiors of their bodies heavily lacerated by some sort of magic. Left alone, without siblings or parents, Arinne was unable to take her position as the family head for many years. During this time, various branch families leeched off of the main family's wealth, even selling assets possessed by the Ar-Rynesarte. But during this time, Arinne also grew as a magus, receiving schooling and expanding her capabilities. As she grew older, her reputation as something of a devil grew as well. She quite recently activated the contracts she still possesses, with the goal of locating the one who murdered her parents through any means necessary.
Hikari most certainly did not jump when Fuyuko's sister surprised the other girl. That definitely wasn't the case at all. She was looking right at her, why ever would she get surprised by something like that? Don't be ridiculous. Someone like her would never do something as silly as that, especially now that she'd become a magical girl and participated in an actual battle.

She remained silent for a few moments and allowed the two siblings to talk to one another. From her perspective, it just seemed like the typical conversation between siblings... Hikari didn't know either of them well enough to pick up on anything else. She waited patiently as Fuyuko tapped out a message on her phone, but as soon the other girl was done she was already turning to make her way towards the forest.

"I'm sure your family would understand if they knew!" she declared, with a firm nod, "Someone creepy like that can't just be allowed to do whatever they please."

  • Name: Queen Medb
  • Class: Rider
  • Appearance: "I am the Queen, and the Queen is I."
  • Personality: The lovely Queen of Connacht. Pure and yet perverse. Tidy and yet filthy. A young queen whose very existence is contradictory. But neither her purity nor her perversity is a lie. Both embody the true face of the Queen. A girl who believes she is the very center of the universe itself, who believes the world revolves around her position in it. She loves beautiful things, including beautiful people, especially those who are brave and strong. While her affections traditionally leaned towards men, both sexes are acceptable to her and she takes pride in her ability to seduce them. Those who fall for her charms are beloved, but those who reject them are even more beloved as Rider will relentlessly seek to make them her own. In spite of her own selfishness, Rider is an accomplished leader. She is extremely competent in warfare and in governing, delighting in the adoration of her people. Devious and intelligent, Rider is fond of both utilizing schemes and also simply crushing the enemy with brute force. Indeed, dominating those she views as strong is something that brings great excitement to the Queen of Connacht. Rider is guided by her desires, believing there is no reason to reject them. She is also incredibly stubborn, refusing to back down in battle and becoming quite frustrated if she's forced to. A Master who appeals to her will be slapped with her love, struck with it like an arrow. A Master who does not will be rejected and treated as nothing more then a prop, whom she will eagerly abandon for the sake of finding one more befitting for the Queen. In spite of her self-centered nature, Medb dislikes seeing those who do not live their life to its fullest, and will endeavor to encourage them otherwise.

    • Charisma: B. The capacity to influence and inspire others. As the Queen of Connacht, Rider's rank of Charisma is suited to one who successfully ruled and country and garnered the adoration of her subjects.
    • Alluring Nightingale: C. A fascination-type enchantment delivered by Rider's voice. While its influence is low, both sexes can be affected by it, and those with weak resilience to mental influence can be seduced by Rider's speech alone.
  • Noble Phantasm(s):
    • Name: Chariot My Love: My Dear Iron Chariot
    • Rank: B+
    • Type: Anti-Army
    • Appearance: "All power is my power! The authority of government! The steel of oppression! The terror of domination!"
    • Effects: A large, powerful, mighty Iron Chariot. It is pulled by Finnbennach and Donn Cúailnge, the legendary bulls that formed the center of the Táin Bó Cúailnge. Both a possession the the Queen of Connacht in life and the symbol of her Royal Authority that crushes her enemies and binds her subjects. The bulls are capable of flight, lifting the chariot from the ground with them, their powerful hooves and razor sharp horns serving to crush and dismember those who would dare oppose the Queen. But this is not the Chariot's full power. It's true nature is as Rider's perfect love nest, an inescapable space within the chariot capturing those she takes a fancy to so that she may press her desires, her lusts, upon them. While it is inescapable, it is not unavoidable, and when Rider is fully satisfied those captured within it are permitted to leave. While anyone trapped inside is confined until Rider is pleased, it has a notable boost in its effectiveness against men. In addition to summoning the entire chariot, she can also call upon and ride one of the two bulls.

    • Name: My Red Mead: My Dear Honey Alcohol
    • Rank: C
    • Type: Anti-Army
    • Appearance: "Fufufu~ I guess I'm adored anywhere I go."
    • Effects: Rider's legendary charm given form as a sweet red honey mead. Those she offers it to feel a strong urge to partake, and if the sweet alcohol passes their lips they become completely taken by the Queen of Connacht. Their mind is wholly fixated on Rider. Serving and loving their Queen is the only thoughts that can circulate in their mind. In this way, those who have drank Rider's mead become little more then extensions of her own will. The Queen becomes their whole world, their singular obsession above all else. However, a strong can possibly resist these compulsions.

    • Name: Conchobar My Love: My Dear Future Vision
    • Rank: C
    • Type: Anti-Unit
    • Appearance: N/A
    • Effects: Pilfered from her former husband Conchobar, Rider "borrows" his ability to see into the future. However, due to her hatred for him, it's more like theft. Comparable to an extremely high rank of Instinct in action, it allows her to see a few moments into the future. This permits her to analyze actions that have not yet occurred and plan around them. She can predict the unpredictable and avoid certain death through usage of this Noble Phantasm. However, it requires her to intentionally focus in order to peer into the future, meaning it is not impossible to take Rider by surprise if she does not believe she has a reason to be concerned. As she is quite arrogant, she rarely remembers to use this Noble Phantasm unless locked in a serious battle.

    • Name: Fergus My Love: My Dear Rainbow Sword
    • Rank: A+
    • Type: Anti-Army
    • Appearance: Modified to be sleeker and more elegant, as to her own personal tastes.
    • Effects: Rider calls upon the magical sword Caladbolg, the blade wielded by Fergus Mac Roich. Accessible due to his place among her many lovers, Rider can borrow this sword in order to use it unleash a devastating attack. As Caladbolg was said to be able to slice the tops from mountains, it is an incredibly destructive attack capable of tearing its way through armies and even the landscape itself. A single stream unleashes the rainbow, and everything before Rider is annihilated in a show of her authority.
