Mia sat forward very interested. "I'm guessing that means you can control other people's blood too right?" Her mind was intrigued and she was smiling. "That is very cool! I'm guessing you could give people heart attacks or possibly restart their heart if you wanted to and all sorts of things. That is so very cool." She seemed genuinely pleased by Zwei's power.

"I think we have a lot in common." She said smiling.

Eve slept until darkness the next day. Everyone remembered the tale of the constable about the hound disappearing and coming back the next day. The townsfolk seemed more tense but hopeful. The ladies of the village tended to Eve and made certain that she was protected and cared for while her body was regaining it's strength.

"Soon after, a group of men decided to ambush the hound and slay it. They circled the beast when it arrived and fought it, losing one man in the process and injuring several others. When one managed to plunge his spear into the beasts side, the hound disappeared into a mist. Thinking they had been victorious, the residents of Avery's Isle celebrated and let down their guard, but it was premature. The hound returned the following night, this time murdering a teenage girl."

"I'm Mia." She said. "Kidnapping?" She chuckled with a very soft laugh. "Mine was more of the garden variety assault charge. I was stealing some cash from the back room of the grocery store and when the security guard came in I electrocuted him a little. I didn't kill him he just won't be chasing anyone from a wheelchair." She said.

"So what is going on in here? Everyone has powers I was told. Mine is electricity. What's yours?" She made her hands glow and sparks shoot out and up into the air and laughed with happiness. "It really does come in handy."

Valyna recognized it as a curse and dropped the letter before the ink could touch her. "Ah shit" she muttered and kicked the letter away with a piece of debris. She did not pay anymore attention to the ink as it traveled across the room over her shoe and onto her leg. Her eyes were fixed on the trunk.

"I know this is not going to be good but here goes nothing." She looked for the opening on the lid and slowly lifted it up. The lid didn't budge.
