Nikki wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him passionately right there on the roof. "Come on let's go before I lose my nerve. I'm kinda thinking we both need a shrink right now." She followed him down off of the building carefully and when she landed on her feet she had an eerie feeling and shook it off. She wasn't going to have to do all of this on her own. She wasn't sure how he came to be so wonderful but at the same time she was worried that he would regret it. She pushed it out of her mind and she and Kyle went to find Matt.
After telling Matt what they wanted to do Matt looked at them like they were nuts. "Are you sure you guys want to do this? There are no divorce courts anymore this is it. If you make the commitment it sticks." Nikki nodded and looked at Kyle. "If he is sure then I am too. He has the most to lose here in my opinion."
"Yea im sure. I mean what the hell, my sisters brothers friend just got engaged and im just oh so baby crazy so why the hell not." Kyle held Nikki's hand and smiled warmly. Kyle had no idea this is what life had in store for him, and the thought of this kind of thing being permanent scared him to hell and back, but Kyle was confident this was the right call to make. Besides how the hell could marrying the leader of their group come back to bite him in the ass?
Nikki was nervous. They were rushing into this and the truth was kind of ridiculous. HE wanted the commitment from her. Usually it was the other way around. What if he got hurt or what if Vincent had him killed? She looked at Kyle's eyes and bit her lip. "What if he comes after you?"
"Well i'll tell you what I will do. I will plant stink bombs around the school, and when he comes i will detonate all of them at once, and the terrible odor will cause him to flee while trying not to vomit. Then I will look our son in the eye, i mean like i will talk to your belly, and I will say 'Son that's what a bitch looks like'." Kyle said all this with a straight face but slightly cracked when he said the word bitch. Kyles fingers were slightly twitchy but he did his best to hide it.
Nikki stared at him for a moment and started laughing so hard tears ran down her cheeks. "You are going to stink him out and talk to my stomach. Okay, I can handle that." She kissed him. She realized loving Kyle was going to be easy. She took his hand in hers and Matt began the wedding ceremony that he and Kat had used.
It was a handfasting ceremony so that there wasn't a preacher or a judge required but it was legally binding up until the world fell apart.
Kyle held out his right hand for the ceremony and smiled the entire time. Kyle allowed the golden cord to be wrapped around his hand, and looked Nikki in the eye. Then suddenly a thought occured to him. Kyle prayed to Chuck that he had them still. Kyle dug through his pants pockets and after a minute of feeling around, Kyle dug out two identical iron rings."I know we have this ritual we are doing but I hope you can accept this. Lets just say I may or may not have found these and tried to sue them for ummm drug related uses. Don't ask how it was a failed experiment on my end. But they are still rings."
Kyle held out a ring for Nikki.
Nikki smiled. She thought they were the most beautiful rings in the world because she realized he was the sweetest man left alive next to her brother. There were tears of laughter and joy shining in her eyes and she agreed to the bonds of matrimony barely hearing what Matt said as she slipped the ring onto Kyle's hand. Her entire focus was the man in front of her giving up so much for her when he didn't have to. After Matt ended the ceremony she kissed Kyle and pulled him into their room and locked the door.
Matt grinned and announced to everyone over the PA system. "Okay guys well congratulations are in order for Nikki and Kyle. They just got married not five minutes ago!" A loud roar went up around the school and over the radios there were all sorts of cat calls.
Nikki looked Kyle in the eye and pulled him down to her and she kissed him til his knees went weak.
Kyle smiled harder than he ever had before, laughing out loud the entire way to what is now officially 'their' room, Once inside and after Nikki let him breathe, kyle spoke softly."I swear, im going to give you such a good time your going to be doubly pregnant."Kyle laughed slightly at his own little joke then kissed Nikki back, hard. Kyle picked Nikki up and held her against the wall. Kissing her up and down her neck. Then Kyle walked her over to their bed and threw her down on it.
A few hours later, Kyle sat up on the edge of their bed and stretched his arms. What had just happened was so intense, and so satisfying, that Kyle had to take a moment to process. Kyle had never been able to make love that freely before, without worrying about pregnancy. But since Nikki was already pregnant.....well Kyle just thanked his lucky stars that he could experience what he experienced.
Nikki had been worn out and her eyes were those of a well loved woman and she looked it. When he moved to the edge of the bed she pulled herself over and lay there looking up at him. "Leaving me already?" She teased.
Her arm trailed over his bare leg and she asked him "I think I'm going to really enjoy being your wife." She smiled at the word. "That is a word I hadn't thought about yet. Wife...I think I like that word" she said sitting back up and looking at his grin. "That makes you my husband doesn't it?" She smirked and said "We can eat dinner later." She said pulling him back to her.
Kyle looked Nikki in the eye and the nexts words he said were more serious than he has been in a while."Nikki....my wife....,"Kyle said thinking how strange the word wife was,"I think I want to eat out."Kyle turned back to Nikki and climbed on top of her, kissing her again.
Nikki and Kyle were caught up in each other for quite some time. When Nikki finally emerged from their room she was wearing shorts and a long t-shirt and her hair was a mess but she looked truly happy for the first time any of the occupants of the school had ever seen her look. She received a lot of knowing smiles and she blushed at every one of them.
She went to the kitchen where Jenna had figured they would go at some point. She took the tray with their dinners that Jenna set back for them. She carried it back to their room and entered locking the door as she went in. When she turned around Kyle was staring at her. She brought the tray over to the bed and sat down next to him. "Perfect dinner. Jenna makes the best fried chicken. You should hope she never leaves or we'll starve. I can't cook to save our lives. I try but it's never edible."
Kyle was for once at a loss for words. Kyle knew Nikki didnt know this but he loved chicken."BABE......im a total slut for chicken. I am now convinced more than ever you were made to be my wife." Kyle grabbed a piece of fried chicken and started to go to town. Kyle realized he should be polite so he tried to eat as nicely and slowly as he could, and he enjoyed every second of it.
"So here is a question." Kyle said in between bites"Where did you guys get the stuff to make this? Or was there a store nearby that actually non expired chicken?
Nikki kind of grinned at that question. "That first couple of days after we got ourselves settled in here I went to the industrial section and pulled out all the frozen food I could get a hold of. That included some turkeys and a lot of chicken. Matt has made sure that the generators are operational just in case of a power outage. If everything else fails the freezer and walk in are secure to remain on. We need food right?" The expression on his face was so cute that she couldn't help it she chuckled and leaned over to kiss him. "Surprised that I thought that far ahead?"
Kyle shook his head."I am not! Well.....ok a little but i know better than that, You are just full of suprsises arent you?"Kyle poked Nikki's belly when saying the word surprises. Kyle then took another big bite of chicken.
"Holy crap I litterally cant remmember the last time I ate something this good. So now that we are married are their any super special awesome things i should know about? Secret entrances and exits, who is hiding the drugs, are there any secret love making spots?" Kyle teased Nikki but he was half being serious. Kyle finished eating his part of the dinner, faster than he would have wanted, and got into a more comfortable position on the bed.
Nikki smiled and pulled out a second plate of Chicken and put it in front of him and chuckled as his eyes got bigger in delight. She thought about it a moment and said "No, I think you have found just about everything or at least almost everything. But I think we can try new locale's whenever we get the opportunity at least until I start to look like a cow." Nikki looked down at her tight and flat stomach and wondered how long it would be til she started to show.
Nikki looked at her belly and put her hand on it protectively and said "I think we should wait to mention the baby until I start to show. By then hopefully there won't be too many questions about the timing of it and maybe no one will figure it out." Nikki hoped he would be okay with her idea.
"What do you think?"
Kyles eyes widened at the second plate of food. Kyle thought for a second, that if Nikki wasn't a goddess in disguise that in another life, she would be. Maybe her name would be Eden? Kyle pushed his thoughts aside and started to eat while he listened to what Nikki had to say. Kyle stopped eating for a moment and considered what she said.
"Well.....its not the worst idea. And it would probably make that douche weasel whatever his name is never consider the kid is his. I mean its a cruel thing to do, but from what I understand he doesnt deserve to know at the moment. Yea we could say the Kid is my son by blood, and no one would be the wiser."
Kyle finished eating his food and waited to hear what Nikki had to say.
Nikki removed the plates to the table and she removed her clothing and climbed back into bed with Kyle and nodded her head in agreement. "Let's just hope his sister doesn't find out. Remember Erin/Clara is his sister. I'll have to stop working on the parkour and my acrobatics and all of the strenuous flips and stuff."She leaned into his arm and whimpered a little and sighed. "You'll still love me even if I can't do a triple layup backflip right?" She smirked not realizing the way she had said it. "I'll have to be more careful from now on." Nikki lay down and put her head on the pillow next to his and snuggled into him.
Kyle wrapped his arms around Nikki and kissed the top of her head."Well I dont know. Those acrobatics and parkour were the only reasons I like you. Give those up and I don't know. Guess you will need to learn how to triple back flip summersault off a roof with some added baby weight. If you do that I guess we can stay married,"Kyle joked.
Kyle wrapped his arms around Nikki a little tighter and closed his eyes.
"Just promise....you wont die....I have had too many friends die too often in this fucked up world. If my wife died....I dont know how I would go on."
Nikki chuckled as she started drifting to sleep as he spoke of sillier stuff. When he spoke of losing her she hugged him tighter to her and said, "I promise I won't die if you don't. I need my husband." She said as she kissed his neck right by his ear and drifted to sleep.
