Everybody has fancy maps for their cities and I'm just sitting here wishing I could find a map for Hub City.

Time to put those great MS paint skills to good use!

Gotham City / United States of America:

June 23th, 2018 - 19:40 | The Kane Ballroom - Gotham Heights

It felt as if time had frozen. Two of the city's foremost denizens had found themselves in the crosshairs of the GCPD. Both of them contributors to the ongoing rebirth of Gotham. One of them was respected by his peers but the other loved by all. However, as most suspected, it was only a matter of time before the Batman targeted the face of city's elite as Bruce Wayne symbolized the spotted past of Gotham. With a swift slight of the hand, the caped crusader could have changed the landscape of city's social climate.

But an unexpected shot from a rooftop marksman was simply swifter. That one moment that broke the silence also gave Bruce a chance to escape as Batman's grip had loosened. Slipping underneath the hold, Bruce's cold demeanor inexplicably turned to fright as he gained distance from the Dark Knight. Almost as if a switch had turned on, the billionaire ran out screaming as the police started open firing on the partycrasher. Others started to follow their party host's lead and ran out the emergency exits, causing more chaos.

"Enough!" yelled Commissioner Jim Gordon after a few seconds of concentrated fire. Through the smoke and darkness, only one thing was still clear. Batman was still standing. The silhouette of his shattered shoulder slowly solidified as if it had never been fired upon. Before the policemen could process what they had just witnessed, a primal roar came from the maw of the Batman. Fear had gripped the hearts of the lot, and their bullets fired back at them including one whizzing towards the rooftop where Rose had fired from. Shrapnel soon left men and women dead or badly injured.

Then the Batman rushed the commissioner with his Batarang in hand, prompting Jim to fire but with no avail.

Only a few individuals stood out in the sea of people gathered at the event which was quite the achievement considering everyone hailing from Gotham's upper echelon had shown up. This evening's party was a televised Wayne foundation event after all and at the center of everyone's attention was the only living member of Gotham's first family: Bruce Wayne. The man was still quite the physical specimen but his age was showing as his hair had mostly grayed. As the host of the party, he started making rounds across the tables to meet and greet the various politicians and socialites present but he was eager to meet one individual in particular. After all, it's not every day you get to meet someone back from the dead.

"Master McNeil! It's a pleasure to finally meet you." Bruce would state as he walked towards young Liam's table. "I'm glad that a Gotham cornerstone could attend tonight's festivities. Your family were forerunners in the city's development and if you ever ne-" Before Bruce could finish his sentence, his flip phone had gone off. He began to answer his phone while gesturing towards Liam to excuse him. His face started to go sour as the call progressed and as the conversation ended, a scowl had began to etch itself across his face. At the top of his lungs, Bruce would yell with a stern tone that was unbecoming of him.

"Everyone, evacuate immediately!" he would be able to state before the power went out. Panic started to set in and screams could be heard before they were silenced abruptly. The silence crept swiftly and its grips were now on Bruce's throat. Almost on cue, emergency lights turned back on which allowed the security detail to take aim at the perpetrator. With Commissioner Gordon among the invitees, he would take charge in the situation as his own gun was trained on the villain.

"Don't even think about making a move... Batman?!" Indeed, the Dark Knight had Bruce Wayne hostage with a chokehold and a Batarang aimed to stab his neck.

Though moonlight was his only source of illumination, the shape of treasure was all to familiar to the merchant Furrman. As Franz’s eyes read the dug-up chest’s label, the sound of a New Vegas jackpot started ringing through his ears. While the wagonmaster wanted nothing to do with it, they simply could not just leave this mystery box unopened. Without skipping a beat, Franz was giving their guide a spiel as to why this could not be left alone. “Mister Shepard, the box clearly states ‘trinkets.’ Why would buried treasure mislead us? Even if there was a silverfish inside it, it’s either dead or the world’s smallest specimen. Besides, we’re gonna need a gravemarker for the guiding runes that I’ll be using for your son's spirit and for future traveling merchants. That box emptied is perfect for it. Now, you just worry about the burial here while one of our associates uses their immense strength to pry it open and get it ready!” the greedy merchant would state with a smile that would shine in the dark night.

Franz would motion towards both Joe and Frankie, urging them to come over and get this loot out of the way. In the meanwhile, he would remove the lid from his bottle of vodka and proceed to pour small portions on his hands and the freshly dug gravesite. Franz would touch the forehead of Isaac and then close the boy’s eyelids with his liquor-blessed fingers. After a few moments of silence, he would look at Shepard square in the eyes. “If you have anything you want to bury with him, just know that I’ll be marking the curse of grave robbers on this site. Should deter any attempts of defilement.”

Exchanges around the campfire were always a fantastic opportunity to network with new clients and open new opportunities of prosperity. However, a quick glance at the Governor’s lot would lead you to the conclusion that none probably had enough caps to make it worthwhile. So, Franz simply sat back after introducing himself and let the others speak. He had tales of adventure, accounts of legends, and even personal goals that would inspire any who heard them. Tonight, those would simply stay bottled up inside him.

As night grew deeper, Franz decided to set up against a tree which faced the wagons. You see, he didn’t sleep the same way as most did. One eye would stay open which you could hardly tell among the folds of wrinkled skin and he would snore through his nose while his mouth remained sealed, all while in a sitting position. For any would-be chickenheart thief, a merchant staying up to watch his merchandise wasn’t worth it. However, wild beasts would be another issue altogether.

Unfortunately, it just so happens that the secondary issue was brought to the forefront as it was heralded by a blood-curdling growl. Franz would snap out of his lull and had gotten ready to make a run for it before remembering he had company with him. It was safer here than the dark woods that surrounded their campsite but some of the others were ready to trek into the unknown to find their benefactor’s daughter. They were brave and it was ultimately the smart thing to do, lest their bomb accidentally goes off.

“You folks better not get lost out there.” That was all Franz had to say, implying that he was staying behind. The first thing that sprung to mind was to check if their delivery package was still with them but Frankie mentioning his intent to dig a grave caught his attention. Only now did Franz find out that Isaac had been decapitated mercilessly. It was a common sight in the wasteland, but no father should ever witness their child’s death. Franz simply shook his head before retrieving two bottles from his own stash, one of vodka and the other of whiskey. He would approach Shepard and hand him the latter.

“Condolences… It’s best to not dwell on this but I do offer one thing. Free of charge, in fact. Your son’s soul needs to be laid to rest and this bottle of vodka was made with water from Saint Jack’s river. Give me a bit and he’ll find peace in the trade waters of the afterlife.”

At Lizard's suggestion, Negative Man had begun to selectively absorb all traces of UV radiation. Since he couldn't discern which type of energy came from a yellow, red, blue or even neutron star, the plasma-based hero had to strip away all of it. Randoms blasts of light would discharge from the possessed Solara, including her standard heat-vision. While this was weakening the Kryptonian, this was wrecking Negative Man at the molecular level. The hellfire of absorbing the universe's light burnt his new body, reminding him of his own re-baptismal from man to hero.

After a few agonizing moments which felt like an eternity, the spirit of Negative Man ejected itself from Solara. Visibly weakened but still functional, Larry could only give a thumbs up directed at his teammates. He had done the best that he could and it was up to them to follow it up.
Lucas observed from his comfortable spot on the floor as the foxman from the earlier meeting took up the same challenge he had just undertaken. However, as entertaining as the spectacle was, the mercenary whose name he didn't bother to commit to memory kept egging on the combatants. Has he never gone out to a night of cabaret or is he simply ignorant of basic spectator etiquette, Lucas wondered in disdain. Instead of rectifying Alex's behavior though, the inebriated knight simply stood up and started walking away just as the fight was getting good. The fun was spoiled, and he had already fought Sir Kyros anyway.

However, just as he would exit through the training hall's doors, Lucas would loudly state one thing to Seth. "You better not get upstaged by this mercenary, fuchsmann! Your people's honor depends on it in the eyes of Byzantium and Italy's aristocracy!.. My eyes!" With that, Lucas would exit with what little grace he had currently left in him. The effects of the fine wine were starting to worsen as it had been a while that he didn't have watered down swill that could still be considered alcohol. He would stumble towards his room, struggling to open the door. The windows were easier to unlock once he was inside though.

Fresh air was what he needed, and the gardens just outside their quarters promised to have an abundance of that. To his non-surprise, the odd lady was still there but she had a new acquaintance with her, the even odder Orpheus. From window sill, Lucas stared at the pair with dumb grind on his face. Now this was interesting.
