Current This site's like Old Broadway...I'm seeing a young man sittin' in an old man's bar, waitin' for his turn to die.

I would sooner face outright phobia again than be given a half-hearted apology by the same systems which did nothing in the face of injustice and to now seek to make profit from our suffering.

I will never celebrate Pride Month for being stabbed in the leg and shot in the neck while it is sponsored by Chase. I will never mistake complacency for forgiveness nor acceptance.

Pride Month is celebrate by those who have never struggled. Those of us who have - those who have been harassed, assulted, detained and debased - have no such pride in it. There is only ire and spite.

So sorry if I'm not enthused. It's just that there's nothing to be happy about now, and people just buy rainbow stuff from the same corps who need us kept down to sell them in the first place.

Bio

“There was a time when I was master of the universe. As I was staying ageless and motionless before my computer, flying untouched over human frenzy, cities rose and crumbled under my thumb, tiny people ran hurriedly to their death on the roads I had built and time flew at my command.

Then it all stopped, and I had to become one of those running specks. They call it 'life.'”

Oh, and Andy proposed we close voting tomorrow and get an OOC up on Sunday.

So far, it looks like we have a slight majority in favor of the East Coast.

Any objections?

I mean there are also other events like Mr house wins, the new California republic wins or the courier/player with Yesman, takes over the Mojave as its personal kingdom or republic or whatever. So there is many ways you can play the aftermath of new vegas, there is a lot of timelines to pick not counting the events of fallout 3, 4 far harbor, and others. just a few choices can give power or lose power to some factions.

Yeah, it's just a matter of getting people to agree on which is canon. I think it'll be more clear once people get their concepts in.

Right but this is hardly fair to an RP'er though, and I don't really expect us to follow lore 100% regardless.

New Vegas assumes the Legion will fail because its assumed Caesar is the only one capable of holding the Legion together. That may not be true with this RP depending on the characters someone brings in to replace Caesar.

I think it's a good ancedote to go off of, but for my personal interpretation of the Legion, it'd be more of finding a capable leader who can "gracefully take a fall". Maintaining the Legion after a monumental defeat that was the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam might send it down a death spiral from which it may never recover, but that doesn't mean that there aren't things they can do to keep their house afloat. I think playing around with that sort of idea might make for an interesting Legion to write about.
I think one of my big narrative issues with the legion being 'together' as a single enetity is that it severely limits the ability of people to mess around in Colorado; that'd mean most of Arizona, new Mexico, and large parts of colorado claimed by a single person.

Well, there also gives a counterpoint to be had:

We could have the Legion be an NPC entity that anyone can "write for", and instead have the players themselves play factions within the Legion itself. Same goes for the NCR, since the NCR has tons of factions within it (Followers of the Apocalypse, Gun Runners, Crimson Caravans, OSI, etc.).

Keep in mind that this is more of a "West Coast" sort of issue, since the East Coast doesn't really have much in the way of super-established factions that would "map paint" most of a region.
Even if the Legion lost at Hoover Dam, its entirely possible they still survived as a faction. A strong enough leader (aka whoever takes them over) could step into Sallow's shoes, claim descent from Mars as the next Caesar, and reorganize the Legion.

<Snipped quote by Andronicus23>

I have to disagree. it's repeatedly pointed out in New vegas that the Legion is likely bound to fail, and with Sallow bound to die eventually, I don't see it not imploding, whether violently due to his death or more slowly due to simply not being a very sustainable society

Keep in mind that a lot of the speculation about the Legion's dissolution said that the Legion wouldn't fall apart all at once, and that it'd likely take a few years - if not decades. That being said, it could be reasonable to assume that there could be a few spans of competent leaders who would fill the shoes while the Empire crumbles apart.

Roleplaying a crumbling empire like a Post-Caesar Legion will also give tons of opportunities for roleplaying hooks, given the sheer geographical distance of the Legion.

That said, it would basically take a complete reorganization of the Legion to make it stand a test of time...which itself is enough of a roleplaying reason to be interested in it after the events of NV.
@Yam I Am
Any questions are welcome.

Do you really think that a die-hard Nation RPer who writes only the most bitter and cynical individuals imaginable has a whole lot of interest in a Pokemon RP?

Nah fam, I just like helping the homies out.

If you need more shit done for that map lmk
<Snipped quote by Auz>

Keep in mind, the Legion may be broken up into pieces by now, depending on what we do/how we decide New Vegas ended

Well, we also have to decide on an actual timeframe. We haven't done anything of the sort as of yet, but from the gist of it, it seems like most people will want to do something set after every game thus far (2290+)
Also, given how the choice of setting seems to be really coming down to the line, I think I have what may end up being a better alternative to help a flat-out vote.

I'm gonna ask everyone to post their ideas for what they would want to play as on the East Coast and the West Coast, respectively. That way, we can see who might have the better interactions, which in turn would help us all reach a decision sooner.

I know so far we have:
- Institute Remnants
- New Yorkers
- Caesar's Legion
- The Minutemen
- Nomad Super Mutants
- Chinese AI Base

@Auz @TheEvanCat @Andronicus23 @Noblebandit @Mao Mao @Andreyich @Crusader Lord @Wampower
This looks fascinating. I'd like to join in.

Do you vote for East Coast or West Coast?

Yeah for the game endings, I think some modified versions of the endings need to be decided upon. For instance, Fallout 4, if the Minutemen destroy both The Institute and Brotherhood, that knocks out a couple factions for people to potentially RP as.

That's not to say The Minutemen can't win out, but instead of wiping them out. Perhaps The Institute is evacuated successfully and The Brotherhood retreats after Liberty Prime is destroyed (just an example).

Edit: I'll just say too that if the ending can be modified a bit. I'd like to claim those Institute remnants as a potential faction.

Given how some of the endings can loop back into one another, the East Coast proves to be the more versatile setting for this as well: Even if you knock out the Brotherhood in the Commonwealth, it's also established in FO3's Good Ending (As to why we'd pick the Enclave/FEV Ending for FO3 is a galaxy-brain move that is far beyond me) that the BoS has a fairly solid hold on the Capital Wasteland, so that sets up a potential conflict for the region, as the BoS would clearly want some well-warranted revenge against some wastelanders with lightbulb lasers.
When it comes to canon game endings, isn't the idea more that we're gonna do decide on that as a community, or am I mistaken?

Yeah, I think that would be best done if we all decided it together. Now granted, I frankly don't expect some endings to really matter too much - especially if we end up going East Coast - but the principle of the matter should still be in the hands of everyone involved.
Interested. Could I have dibs on the Commonwealth?

I'll take it this is you casting in your vote for East Coast?

Edit: Looks like I was right
