The simple fact of the matter is, even without magic, there were soliders well dealt in dealing with it, and in keeping crime off the streets, underground or otherwise. They would have put a stop to it. I'm not saying that crime didn't exist, but large things like criminal undergrounds would have been broken up, for fear that it was a guild in the making again. Essentially, it's been 100 years of war. Until something changed, and magic was....okay.
It's hard to go into detail, and find the right balance when not everything is known, and this is intentially on my behalf. partly, because yes, I took this roleplay over when it seemed to reach a stopping point in the original roleplay. I have tried to make this my own, while staying to the original context. I always haven't been able to write everything I want, regarding history, without destroying potential story lines, and this has been a work in progress for the last several months, when it became clear that this was a roleplay to stay, and I started to put more effort into it, and into creating a site for it. I have hhad several plans, drafts and storys mapped out, that can't be released until I'm sure that they won't spoil anything, and am near having everything I want for the history revealed. It's coming.
I appreciate the work you have put into it, and I do accept it, but I just want you to understand that creating things that can't necessarily be possible just yet can upset the history of the roleplay as well as the roleplay itself, particularly if I have to re-write the history just for one person-which I'm not going to do. I've tried to write the history to involve every player, but alas, that isn't possible at times. As I can't reveal everything. Yet.
Go ahead and fix things up, then post it into the character tab.

Well, he still has the emblem, *cough future plot point cough* but technically he is not in a guild. Currently, he and Valak are in the stands watching the games. Valak just left for food. Although, I am going off the assumption that Ferrin won't share his origins easily. So, fair warning.
@yoshua171
WHAT criminal underground? Never have I, nor anyone else, mentioned a criminal underrground, and if there was such a thing, the Royal guard and capital Solders would have destroyed it as a potentially magical taking. It seems that you are making things up that do not fit in the story. While that normally works, in this case it doesn't
As for this person that has a grudge on him joining a dark guild, THAT doesn't seem possible. As Burth Said, the dark guild would have had to approach this candidate and get them to join, but probably wouldn't have trusted them enough yet to allow them to send another member after your character. Again, it seems like you are changing things to suit what you want. The only way that would work if, IF the guy that had a grudge on him created his own dark guild.
AND AS FOR A CRIMINAL DARK MAGE, not affiliated with any guild, I doubt they would have lasted long by themselves, as they would have been apprehended by people like Jamie and Jarvis, who wish to get magic respected and believed in once more, or the Royal guard.
I really am not trying to be picky, but some things just don't fit in the story line. You have to understand, people were terrified of any mages after the zeref/slayers incident. Any sign of magic would have been destroyed, and there probably were enough killings to discourage any magical uprising.
@yoshua171
I don't know. It still just feels over powered to me, but maybe i'm being picky. I will accept it.
Yes, bu a 1 percent chance is close enough to 0 that frankly, I would find it highly lucky if he did find a dark guild. The best analogy I can come up with is that it's like Toy Story-You might be suspect that they can move, but you never catch them at it.
Dedication, and knowledge that they exist would get you far. But again, you'd have to suspect the area's that they are in and know where to go, or what to look for. And unless he as able to provide a reason why they should have let him go, chances are he'd still be in a dark guilds custody.
