Current Attn teeny boppers: You realize adbots aren't ppl, yes? They randomly generate login info, then execute pre-programmed posts. Your rage-spam goes unheard by the machine. And is equally annoying.

If you're going by UK conventions of knighthood/nobility, yes. It also would be pronounced like the "dam" in "madame," rather than like a Dick Tracy "daym."

I'll try and wrap up the other missions pretty soon, but for now you're free to do whatever you'd like. I would think it'd be about 5 in the afternoon, time wise, so if you think that's enough time to attempt another Special Assignment and your character feels up to it you could do that, or you could interact with other characters or the school environment--feel free to ask me about any facilities, but pretty much it's got anything you could think of that might be had at either a prestigious boarding school or a military facility. Also, maybe something like Thorntail/Thornclaw for the Cactus Cat? Maybe just Thorn? Rather generic, but all that pops into my head at the moment.
Afraid you missed them, cause now those in the guild hall are in Edolas xD
Oh lol. Literally everyone who was in the guild hall, or just certain characters? I could have him go solo for a bit if necessary.
Name: Rutger Artz Age: 18 Magic: Flame God Slayer Magic Level: B History: Born and raised on a snowy mountain in a small, nearly isolated village, Rutger and his father were herders responsible for providing a great deal of meat, cheese, and wool to keep the villagers supplied during the harsh winters. As such they had more wealth than many in the small settlement; not nearly enough to be considered rich, but enough to afford a few more small luxuries--such as books. Rutger adored books, and whenever the odd peddlar braved the dangers of the mountain and brought their wares to the village square, Rutger would beg his father for enough money to buy every book he could. His parents easily relented; after all, knowledge was power. Little did they know the power their son would gain. One day, the peddlar brought a pile of books they had collected from all corners of Fiore, and Rutger bought them all. Among them was a book with a strange cover, blackened and dusty with the appearance and texture of charcoal. Rutger originally found, when he opened this book, that it was written in such an old dialect as to be neary indecipherable, a throwback to the days when Fiore was instead known by another name: Ishgal. He struggled to translate it so that he could read it, using other books as resources, but even then the contents simply seemed to squirm before his eyes. During a particularly cold storm, Rutger read next to the fireplace, as he usually did. Once again he was trying to decipher the book. He cried out in sudden despair when an ember popped from the fire and landed on one of the pages...but the book did not burn. Instead, the letters within began to glow, and a warmth spread through Rutger as he watched in fascination. He felt something within him being pulled out, and the book reacted to it. From this reaction, the letters shifted, and became readable. Though Rutger did not know it, it was not only the flame that had changed the book. Within him, as within roughly 20% of Fiore's population, was the potential for magic, and the book had reacted to it, choosing him as its new owner. He became obsessed with the book, poring over its contents day after day. He began to practice the magic in secret, his curiosity overcoming the risks and the possibility of being ridiculed by his family or the other villagers. It was here, however, that he learned just why magic was so feared. Black flames threatened to consume the village, and Rutger could not stop them. The only fortune to be had that day was when the heat melted part of the snow on the mountainside and caused an avalanche that managed to put out the flames, though many villagers were trapped in their homes until they could be dug free. Because of Rutger's magic, he had almost destroyed everything and everyone he had ever loved. The villagers began to treat him with fear and disdain, and his family decided it would be for the best to send him away. Rutger left the snowy village in the dead of night, keeping himself warm with his power, a blessing and a curse. Knowing he had to find someone to help him control his abilities, he headed for the Mage Guilds... Personality: Deeply unsettled by the events of his life, Rutger is often gloomy, but when his heart finally begins to open up, traces of an imaginative, curious, and energetic youth can be seen. Team Members: N/A Three Strengths:
  • Fount of Knowledge - Rutger is widely read in a variety of subjects, and thus knows a great deal about many things.
  • Steel Trap Memory - Rutger doesn't have a photographic memory, but it's a good one nonetheless, especially if it's something he's read.
  • Analytical Mind - Rutger's great at discovering and putting together clues to deduce possible answers, though some of his predictions are based on "genre-savviness" rather than realism.
Three Weaknesses:
  • Self Control - Rutger is still new to his magic, and has a great deal of trouble controlling it, making him dangerous in flammable areas, tight spaces, or when allies are crowded around him.
  • Fear - Rutger is so afraid of hurting people he cares about with his magic that it severely weakens his spells and abilities.
  • Passiveness - Rutger isn't often one to take initiative on his own, and he's stopped taking as many risks. He often tries to think of excuses to justify this to himself, and in the process is his own worst critique, creating mental blockages that can keep him from doing what's necessary out of fear of failure.
Greatest Love: Reading Motivation: Learning to control his magic Appearance:
Rutger stands at 5 feet 10 inches and weighs around a hundred and seventy pounds, with a bit of tone from working with animals and living in a harsh environment, but not so much like a weight lifter. He has dark red, almost auburn hair that spikes sort of to the right, with a cowlick on the left and slightly back. His eyes are golden amber, and he wears a long sleeved black wool shirt under a thick blue, denim-like jacket with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and heavy brown leather gloves lined with white wool. His pants are dark gray in color and his boots are made in the same style as his gloves. A black leather belt with a silver, square buckle holds two leather pouches, one on the side of his left hip and the other on the back of his waist. The last item of clothing he wears is a bright red woolen scarf sewn with double layers for extra warmth; this particular item was a gift from his mother before he left, and he tends to wear it all the time to remind himself of his family even if he changes the rest of his outfit. Additional Details: Always has at least one book on hand.
Our other god slayer vanished, so I'm fine with this one. No problems that I could see.
Thanks! I'll post him in the characters section. Will it be alright if he just waltzes into the guild off the street looking to join up? I'll read over who's where in a bit, but is there anyone at the guild he could interact with? Also, I looked over the Job Board, and if no one has taken it yet I'd like to call dibs on the "Temporary Librarian" job, since that's right up Rutger's alley.
Normally I would be hesitate about a slayer magic user. But from how you have him in your CS, I think it could work. So I guess I'll approve it since it does give him time to develop his character.
Thank you! Yes, I wanted to aim for character development over time. I'll make sure to keep him fair and not be godmoddy or OP. I know it's kind of a curse of FT RPs that lots of people want to be some kind of Slayer to the point that it's often considered Mary Sue, I just wanted to make an attempt at "doing it right" so to speak. I believe now I just have to wait for Zarkun's opinion, correct?
I've changed Hazel's theme song so many times despite it being a very inconsequential piece of information...
Hehe, I find it makes it much easier to write if I've got some background music for the frame of mind. If you'd like, you could list multiple themes.
Hello everyone, I realize that this RP's already got a sizable foundation, but I've been feeling a Fairy Tail itch and wanted to see if it'd be possible to join this. I've talked over my character idea with Caits, and was told to place my CS here for approval. If anything needs to be changed or clarified, just let me know! Name: Rutger Artz Age: 18 Magic: Flame God Slayer Magic Level: B ((I'd like to be able to raise this over the course of the RP, because events in his backstory have caused him to need to learn how to better use his power, and also to stop holding himself back)) History: Born and raised on a snowy mountain in a small, nearly isolated village, Rutger and his father were herders responsible for providing a great deal of meat, cheese, and wool to keep the villagers supplied during the harsh winters. Apologies to Ostarion if it seems like the Fire Rat responses are too short, there's just not quite as much to work with there. Are you okay with the pace thus far or would you like me to speed up/slow down, since you're on the quest by yourself?
Blighted Woods
With everyone in agreement to go back, the party made their way through the woods the way they had come. Soon the research station was in sight again, and as they approached another scientist noticed them and ran over. "You're back! Our equipment's not picking up any more Exbeasts, so great job!" he said, before pointing them towards a central bunker building. "Our telepad is in there; I'll go ahead and operate the Restoration function too!" He pulled a tablet from his coat pocket and began typing away, but before they headed towards the bunker Hayato raised a hand. "I have a question, sir. What exactly is this station researching?" "Ah!" said the scientist, excited that they had taken an interest. "Well, as you probably know Excaledvol hasn't been explored very much yet. But for the most part, the plants and water and overall geology are very similar, almost identical in some aspects, to Earth's! We're here to take samples of said geology and biology too, and study them. We've actually made some very interesting findings about some of the species here already." "I see..." Hayato said. "But I don't suppose you see a lot of people, then? You haven't seen any AcadeMMO students besides us?" "Not recently, no." said the scientist. Hayato's face suddenly perked up. "We do send the school requests for assistance every once in a while. But you're the first since the new semester only started yesterday, of course." "Have...have you seen someone who looks a bit like me, except with a scar across his nose and a different hair style?" Hayato asked excitedly, leaning forward so that the scientist could see his features. The man raised an eyebrow, but looked at him closely for a moment with a hum of concentration. "Mmm...No, I'm sorry. I can't say I have." Hayato was crestfallen. "Ah...oh well, then. Thanks anyway. And let us know again if you need more help." When the group stepped back onto the telepad, this time the magic runes and lights glowed green for a moment. Their HP and MP was restored in a flash, the healing magic spreading through them like warmth from a fireplace. Then, once the coordinates for the school were set, they disappeared. The scientist waved farewell, then went back to his studies. Out in the woods, a boot crunched down on the remains of a Twig Blight, the hem of a cloak billowing around it. "So this confirms it." said one voice, a male. "They're trying to use our own power against us. If we want those busybodies gone, we'll have to bring out something that kids like that can't handle." Another voice responded from a small, purple sphere that floated in the air near the hooded figure. It was somewhat similar to the Sprites used by AcadeMMO, and its voice had the same mechanical twinge, though it was obviously female. "Those children were inexperienced. No doubt they have stronger heroes available to them." "True..." The hooded figure looked around at the remains of the Blights. "I suppose I'll have to do some thinking on this one..." With that, the figure turned and began to walk away, soon disappearing into the depths of the forest...
Fire Rat Extermination
The Fire Rat Taeion attacked only barely managed to leap out of the way, sliding when it landed on all fours in the oil. The other two, however, took aim and unleashed a dual Fireball spell at him. The oil all around instantly began to ignite, only adding to the growing power of the conflagration magic as the two projectiles rushed towards Taeion. The dockworkers around him ran and dove for cover, the idea of a hose completely forgotten. The fire continued to spread over the docks, and the oil continued to ooze from now melting containers...if it got into the water, not only would the fire spread further, but it would be a major eco-hazard...
Level up Awesome. Can I edit my characters stats? I don't like his current set up/
Do you mean like a complete re-spec? I'm not really sure that would be okay because it seems kind of unfair to let stats change once they've already been established. Maybe just work on using your level up points to work your way towards the set up you would prefer?
