What is one prevailing trait or element in your RP characters?

I apologize in advance if this question's been done before, but I felt it was interesting and wanted to know your answers. If this goes against some unspoken fraternity rule here, then please, PLEASE, find it in your heart not to lynch me. I have a shitload of exams to deal with.

Okay, so there are people here who have range in RPs. And by that I mean; they're not bound to a specific taste and like to try different sorts. To them, I ask, what's one lingering trait or element that's almost always part of your character. Whether it be a character trait, or a type of magical/supernatural ability that you enjoy using, or a favorite weapon. Hair color, appearance, really anything.

For me, it's wisecracking. I'm like the Joss Whedon of the RP world. I can't have a character that's NOT a wisecracker.

All of my characters have some sort of traumatic/neglected past or have had a traumatic event happen to them over the course of their life. Despite this, however, very few of my characters are edgelords.

They all have a nice ass I mean hmmm. I tend to alternate between "hotblooded and overly idealistic" and "awkward and meek, but built to eventually become a hotblooded badass when the time comes" a lot I guess. To be honest, the latter probably comes from my love of characters built around the same archetype as Simon the Digger. XD I love seeing meek characters gradually develop into someone more confident, outspoken and, well, badass really.

...Also I guess most of them are bi, but that's more a case of "write what you know" honestly. ^^;

My characters always seem to be Sassy, cocky, arrogant, strong willed women who teeter the grey line between hero and anti-hero.

Often my characters have some kind of violent impulses, or something sinister that clashes with their personality. Love characters with multiple personality's. Basically complex, dark and beyond fucked up. :P

Unless I specifically make a character for that purpose, not a single one of my characters would ever allow themselves to be successfully blackmailed. This is because I, in real life, don't see the point of blackmail. It isn't as if giving in to the blackmail will get the blackmailing material out of the blackmailer's hands, so what's the sense in going along with it? Yeah, that's pretty much it.

All my characters are damaged someway, usually mentally. There is something in their past they are struggling to get over, and all of them are always in pain. And often, my characters stories involve redemption and self sacrifice in one form or another.

I don't have a specific trait I would draw upon most when creating a character. I like to be versatile with roles and personality types.

Nothing. I'm a perfect example of a person who can fit into any character or situation with a totally individual personality.

Bullshit. My characters are usually cynical, scheming but ultimately cowardly little fucks that just want power and wither away when too many folks come after them

My characters are normally good guys. I need to practice writing a villain.

They also have terrible luck. I love putting them in terrible situations, just to see how they recover.

Hmmmmm... Tough one, since I have a lot of elements. The first one that comes to mind is that I'm a fan of morally grey characters. Like, heroes that aren't white knights, or villains. Or you can say that I try not to make my characters purely nice, or mean. I mix it up a bit for complexity sake.
