Just as she had believed that Kieran had trouble following him everywhere he went - the same could be said for his alliances and acquaintances as well. If she’d learned anything over the past week or so, it was that he’d always been in someone’s company, and for the most part, it was to his advantage. She’d continued to follow after him, caught off guard at the new face - another wolf who had stood out compared to the others. She’d given pause when just the sight and sound of that wolf had caused the others to stop and show submission, and she’d taken the moment to survey the scene and make sure that Christian was still with her. Of course, he’d been in better shape than herself -- he always seemed to get out of things better than she - after all, he was quite older than her...

When Kieran had come back towards them, she’d still fought off a stray or two as she heard him speak of a mansion up ahead. Thank god it wasn’t going to be that far - the children shouldn’t have been out in the cold that long, and the quicker they could get into cover, the better. At least she could help them out -- that was a better excuse than helping Kieran.

Still, the both of them followed after the new wolf now, knowing that they had a new ally. There were still a few strays that launched at them - and Clara was quick to throw them aside just as well as Christian had.

“Fuck - how far away is this place?” She hissed, speeding forward after the wolf and the others with Christian at her side.

Kieran didn't answer but his friend did, jaws snapping as it turned it's head for face Clara. White ears flicked as it listened to the sounds around it, Kieran increasing his speed as it felt a familiar pull up ahead.

Several barks filled the air and signaled the arrivals of the rest of the Pack, Kieran remained silent as the white wolf snarled. It didn't seem happy and with the amount of blood mixed with white fur he could blame it. He took the lead and decided to answer his fledgling’s question, his mind calling Ryanair to him.

“It's up ahead, no one knows of it's existence since traveling here is so rare. Ryanair, how are they?” He asked as he neared his second fledgling, the blonde glancing at him with relief. He lifted his cloak and handed Wythe back, his lips pulled into frown as the mansion came into view.

“Asleep for now, they're warm and unharmed so I'll count that a good thing.” He offered as he spotted the mansion up ahead, Kieran nodded and glanced down at his friend. He deemed it polite to warn the Pack Alpha of the safety mechanism Madam Isabela had placed.

“There's no fence around the property but Madam Isabela has placed hidden spikes of wolfsbane here and there. She doesn't know your with us but I can guide you around them if you'd like, you probably already smelled them.” A snap of teeth and flash of eyes was his answer, he really shouldn't push any buttons. As they neared, the trees began to thin until they were running in the open. The pack of wolves moving to form format circle around them, the white wolf moving closer to nudge it's head against Kieran’s side. He understood the gesture and turned to the West, jumping over the stream that separated the mansion from the clearing. It was a lit and as they neared, Kieran could feel himself relaxing.

He did as he said and took them on the route that kept the wolves away from the spikes covered in wolfsbane. Ryanair moved ahead of them and entered the house, moving through the foyer and up to the second floor. Kieran made to follow but he stilled when the sound of heels echoed on marble floor.

“Ah, we have guests. Do come in and close the door behind you, follow me into the living room. Madam Isabela’s voice was soft but underlying it was anger and weariness. Kieran gestured for the wolves to follow, taking a moment to slip his shoes and coat off. Wolff appeared at his side at once, gently taking Wythe from his arms. The Healer followed where Ryanair had gone and soon everyone was in the living room. Esther was seated with with a cup in hand, Isabela reclaiming her seat as well as her cup.

“Now would anyone do me the honor of explaining what the fuck just happened? An entire village was lit aflame and a large concentration of wolves just happened to be the cause? I don't like it.” Kieran kept quiet but the white wolf at his side snapped it's jaws and snarled. It's packmates sat and stilled as the white wolf began to pace, it's hackles still raised as if ready to fight.

Hopefully it wouldn't come to that.

As soon as she'd seen the mansion up ahead, Clara could nearly breathe a sigh of relief. She was quick to follow the others inside, shaking off the chill of the night even though it hardly affected her. Christian was right behind her, the relief clear on his features as he stepped inside, only to follow the others towards the living room. They'd both slipped off their coats and left them where the others had, and Christian was the first to take a seat, eyeing Clara when she chose to remain to stand. Once more she was stuck in a room with all of these people, and she was none too happy about it. At least this time Christian had been there with her, and she had sought that comfort – standing close by to him and away from the others.

The burning question on everyone's mind had finally been asked and Christian cleared his throat. "Ah, yes – I'd like to know that answer as well. That town has never been disturbed such as that before – there must have been a cause…"

Other than wolves just carelessly attacking for mindless fun? Clara wasn't so sure.

As far as she knew, Christian held that estate for far longer than she had known him – so he was familiar with the town. Furthermore, throughout her mortal life there, she could hardly remember any threats such as that on the town – why so suddenly would they want to burn it to the ground?

Clara frowned as she shifted uncomfortably next to Christian, her arms crossed upon her chest tightly. Yet another fight she'd gotten herself caught up in within the past week – and it was only a short amount of time that she'd gotten ahold of her sire once more. Part of her was beginning to believe that nothing but trouble followed him.

Kieran glanced down and regarded the pacing white wolf, he had something else to ask. With a sigh, he reached out a hand and settled it atop the furred head. The room was silent as the white wolf seemed to ponder it's next move, Kieran’s hand still stop it's head. After a long moment, the white wolf gave a huff and Kieran took a couple steps away.

What happened next was a sight to behold. The wolf's back arched and it's body seemed to shake, a soft throat clearing draws his attention. Madam Isabela is holding out a grey nightgown, he takes it and turns back to face the wolf. Its hind legs and front paws were now arms and legs, the fur slowly shortening and disappearing. It was taking longer then usually, the other wolves were getting antsy. Kieran slipped the gown on when pale arms were lifted, soon enough a crouched figure sat on the carpeted floor.

Wolff was immediately crouched before her, his hands moving around the gashes he found. Kieran noted that the shaking of her form hadn't lessened, it only seemed to worsen. “How long?” Wolff barked out as he began to clean bandage the wounds, the Alpha’s head shook as she swallowed.

“The fuckers caught me mid-shift, then again I think they've been slipping something into my food and drink for a week or two. There's been a shift between the Packs, when I came to I was chained in a room with wolfsbane shackles” She snarled out as Wolff continued to work his magic, Kieran jumped slightly when he felt Ryanair step close to his side. “I lost track of time as I began to struggle, the only reason I managed to get lose was a Beta passed by and seemed horrified I was being chained like that. Apparently according to the Beta, a revolt has begun.” She fell silent as a bottle was pressed to her lips, Esther blinked and glanced at the other wolves.

“And these ones? They were chasing us until you arrived.” Kieran knew the answer but the others didn't, Ryanair remained silent but the elder vampire could feel his curiosity. The wolves shifted where they sat and ducked their heads, it wasn't submission but a gesture of apology.

“Another Alpha commanded them to attack. Usually the Packs Alpha only commands it's members, sometimes if another gives a command they have to obey. That's what happened before I arrived, another Alpha told them with red eyes and a firm voice that they were to attack and not let anyone get out alive. I ask your forgiveness on their part, I also like to thank you for your medical assistance.” The female bowed her head and her packmates mimicked her movement, Kieran stepped forward and helped the female to her bare feet.

“I suggest we all get some sleep, Ynez and her pack need time to adjust as do the rest if us. We'll talk about this when we're calmer and aren't so on alert, there are enough rooms for everyone. Goodnight then.” He stated before offering the Alpha his arm, she took it after a blink of her eyes. Ryanair moved to his side and allowed the wolves to pass, before following him as they moved into to foyer once more. With a huff Ynez gestured her pack to go up, Kieran and Ryanair following behind them. The sound of heels clicking across marble floor told them that Esther and Isabela were close behind.

Rest was what everyone needed. When the sun rose and tomorrow began, they'd speak about their next course of action.

Both Clara and Christian had watched the transformation before them, and Clara had only shifted a little closer to him. He'd noticed her apprehension and unease, partially wondering what the cause was. He knew this wasn't the most ideal situation, but Clara had been the one to lead him here. Her reluctance to being there was almost a surprise. Although, he had an inkling of the cause, Christian hadn't quite gotten an answer out of Clara just yet, nor had he the idea to ask her, knowing full well it would spark another argument and it simply wasn't the time for her brashness to come into light – not with all of these strangers around, ones whom she clearly was not accustomed to just yet.

At the mention of a revolt, Christian had sighed and ran his hand through his hair as he leaned back in his chair. Wonderful – If Clara knew anything about Christian, it was that he'd learned to lie low throughout all of his years. He'd made his allies, knew his friends, and attempted to steer clear of making many enemies. Clara had been thankful for that, however, it only added to her need for isolation. Now, shoved together with this group of people whom she still did not know other than a few short words between them, she wanted to run.

Christian knew he should have tended to his business and taken Clara elsewhere. Coming back to this town had been a massive mistake, he was learning day by day. Not only did it bring more trouble than he had asked for, he had that same suspicion that the man Clara had been lingering around for the past week or so, had indeed been her sire. Curious though – how the man was still standing, and Clara still could stand at least being around him. He'd wondered about that – and perhaps it was the only thing that gave him doubt.

"I agree- " Christian murmured after Kieran spoke, coming to a stand with the others. "It's better to regroup come morning."

Clara wasn't sure how she felt in that moment, watching Christian interact once more with Kieran – let alone having all of them trapped under the same roof. No, there probably wouldn't be much sleep that night, at least for her. Still, she followed behind everyone else, close to Christian and far from the others.

Eventually, they'd found their own rooms and Clara had made sure Christian was close. He'd paused at his own door for a moment. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine – why?" Clara suddenly bit out, her arms crossed over her chest. Christian had only raised a brow in return and Clara sighed. "I just don't like new places is all" A lie. "Forget about it."

"..Whatever you say, darling. I'm sure we'll figure all of this out come morning." He assured her and leaned over to give her a kiss on her forehead. "Try to get some sleep tonight…"

Clara had only brushed him off and turned from him without another word to head into her own room. She'd shut the door behind her and leaned against it momentarily to scan her new room with a slow sigh. It was going to be a long night – and hell, it was probably going to be a long time before they sorted it all out. She had a sneaking suspicion that she was going to be stuck around here for longer than she'd like – and honestly, there were no opportunities to seek out whichever revenge she'd formerly planned – not while she was having to save his ass so often; not while so many people were around, and Ryanair continued to see out his constant attention.

The girl frowned as she pushed herself away from the door and moved to plop herself down on the bed, curling up on her side. No; sleep wouldn't come to her so easily that night – not with her mind racing.

Ynez awake to her mouth tasting of cotton, and the sickly-sweet smell of bacon and pancakes filling her nose. The Alpha gingerly shifted on the king-sized bed Kieran had laid her on, she paused when a soft whine reached her ears. Her packmates were awake and watching her with worried eyes and fattened ears.

They expected punishment. With a huff, she lowers herself back amongst the sheets and allows a whimper to escape her lips. She'd healed during the night but her strength wasn't one-hundred percent yet, her Pack were on her immediately. Cool noses pressed against the now healed wounds, warm-rough tongues licked at her cheeks and fingers. Ynez allowed herself a few moments more of rest, before sitting up and slipping off the bed. She paused when she spotted a bag before the bathrooms door, her head tilting when a note caught her eye.

This should be enough clothes for you all, if you need more let me know. ML~ It read and the Alpha couldn't help but smile, it was hard to believe she had vampires has friends. Turning to her pack, she gestured to the bag and then the bathroom. “Pick a set of clothes and then all of you are to shower, we'll join them down for breakfast and not cause trouble.” Her words were pitched low but the command was clear, she received five nods and with a smile she turned and entered the bathroom.

An hour later found the Pack dispersed in both the dining room and the sitting room with plates of food in hand. Ynez was dozing with a empty coffee cup in her hands, her head resting against the arm of the couch.

○~○~○~○~○~○

Kieran noted that clothed had been provided for the Pack as he made his way into the sitting room. Ryanair had stayed in the kitchen to talk with Isabela, Kieran didn't say anything aside from offering the elder female with a kiss on the cheek. He paused when he found Ynez dozing on a couch, a male was gently pulling a mug from her hands.

Usually such an action would have any wolf awake, it just showed how exhausted the Alpha really was. Kieran nodded to the male and took a seat with a plate in hand, the others wolves offered him waves or nods before returning to their own food.

“Trouble seems to find you doesn't it?” The question had the vampire turning his head, Esther was seated beside him with a frown on her lips. Kieran sighed and returned to eating his pancakes, his movements stiff with anger. He didn't like having to leave him his, he had an inkling Ryanair was questioning Isabela on the state of the town. The kids thankfully had opted to stay with Wolff, a request that made Kieran smile as well as deflate a bit. They were fine and had given him their vows that they would behave and not run around the house, though he couldn't blame them if they did.

“I've made friends and alias, I've made it a point to keep out of other people's hair. So why is it that this happening now?” He asks the noble beside him, his meal no longer holding his interest. Esther sighed softly from beside him and ruffled her skirts before answering.

“I don't think it's you. Our world's aren't as stable they used to be and others are panicking. If humans found out any of us existed, a war would break out and even if we'd be likely to win the humans are vital to our survival. It's a game of chance and with this move, the balance we've had for centuries is tediously close to breaking.” Her words were right and he knew it, Kieran just wanted some peace for more than a week. He'd lied too long a life to want constant moving or fighting.

So the question now was, what was the next best move?

Just as she had predicted, it had been a rather long night. The girl could hardly sleep, her mind racing and unable to rest. She'd tossed and turned, trying to find comfort in the bed that wasn't hers; trying to settle down and simply allow sleep to wash over her. It hardly happened. Sure, there were a few moments where she'd slipped off, but any sound had her jostled awake and she'd searched the room each time. Whether it was her imagination keeping her up or actual sound – she hadn't quite been sure. All she knew was that she was not going to get hardly as much rest as she had wanted – not in her own sire's home. He'd really done little to prove that he could be trusted.

Hell – why would she even want to trust him anyway? The thought had her scrunching up her nose as she pulled a pillow closer to her. No, she didn't need to get to know him. Hell, she hardly wanted anything to do with him and yet at least twice she'd already found herself helping him when she really didn't want to. She truly should have just let one of them off him for her…

--

When morning came, Christian had been the first to rise out of the two. He knew full well not to disturb Clara should she not be up yet, so he'd emerged from his room with a slow stretch and only a glance to her closed door. He could already guess the girl hadn't slept well – better to let her get up on her own as long as it wasn't too late.

He'd ran a hand through his hair to fix it up a bit before he'd headed downstairs towards the sounds of the others, hands soon pressed into his pockets as they'd come into view. Breakfast was waiting for them all, and for that he was grateful. He'd made himself his own plate before he meandered his way near Kieran.

"Well, pleasure to see you again." Christian offered kindly. "Although, I suppose it could have been on better circumstances…" He continued. Perhaps this was his chance to figure this all out. "I'm sure Clara will be up soon. She has a bit of trouble relaxing in unfamiliar places. I do apologize." He looked to the female that had been next to Kieran as well. "Ah – where are my manners? I'm Christian Nicolai, by the way." He continued, greeting Esther with a smile. "And whom, might I ask, do I have the pleasure of sharing this morning with?"

No one batted an eyelash as Christian enter the room, Esther blinked her eyes and a smile slipped on her lips he was older than her should could tell, but he was kind. It was a bit strange really, placing her cup on the table beside the couch she rose and offered him her hand. “Esther Astana, a pleasure to meet you as well.” She stated after a moment of pondering. Kieran noted that she was slightly tense and the smile on her lips was forced somewhat, he rose and offered his own hand to Christian as well.

It was best to defuse a situation before it could get out of hand. The sound of an annoyed huff distracted him from answering the male, it seemed Ynez was awake. The Alpha blinked her glassy eyes and sat upright, her brunette hair falling in waves at her side. “I guess I should introduce all of us, my name is Ynez Hallowell. We're known as the Hallow pack, it's a pleasure to meet you.” With those words, Ynez rose to her bare feet and bowed. The other five of her pack did the same before the female straightened and a grin split her face. “Hey Kieran I noticed you have a new one as well as kids. Hm….would you be up for a spare?”

The male blinked and he only noticed then that Ryanair was standing beside him. It was a distraction and he had to think about it for a moment. The sound of feet thundering from above and then down the stairs pulled his head up and to the noise. Three smiling faces met him and he allowed them to crash into his legs, patting their heads he finally answers Christian. “It's fine, hopefully his won't last too long. As for Clara well...best to leave her be I'd say. How about it Ry, you up for it?” The flare of giddiness was answer enough, though Ryanair answered with a laugh underlying his voice.

“Sure, let's see who's better.” He said as Ynez and her pack moved forward, the kids only then noticed the others in the room. Three pairs of curious eyes found the wolves and before questions could be asked, Ryanair hoisted Tyre up and jogged out of the room. Kieran snorted softly and turned as well, his eyes meeting green-blue eyes as the flash crimson. He takes off with Wythe and Isaac at his heels, the children laughing when they noticed the others flowing them.

Maybe it was time to come clean. They'd probably notice when they sparred, these kids were much to perceptive for their ages. As they headed for the indoor pool/training space Kieran didn't much mind the conversation.

Christian only smiled in response at Esther's introduction, taking her hand gently as well before he was met with Kieran's a moment after. "Pleasure's all mine." He assured her, but had suddenly become distracted as he'd heard Ynez behind him. The male had turned his attention toward her and nodded in response. "Well, Clara and I do appreciate the hospitality and assistance you've all provides, and I'm certain we can offer up any aid that you may need as well." Christian continued, hoping at least to fit in for the time being – as for Clara, he'd at least liked to have established his own allies there before her attitude could get her into some trouble in the future.

Still, Christian watched the interactions in front of him, taking note that Ryanair had been Kieran's fledgling – and he, too, was still in one piece. He was beginning to doubt if Kieran was Clara's sire at all, considering both males had been standing in front of them and neither of them had been maimed by the female…

His thoughts had been interrupted by Kieran's words again and he glanced over at the male momentarily. "Yes; well, if you know her well enough, you'd know it's best to leave her to her own devices half the time." He'd only smiled slightly before taking note of everyone heading off together. Once more, his hands tucked into his pockets as he decided to follow.

"Speaking of which – how do you know each other? She's never made mention of knowing anyone in town before.."

Meanwhile, Clara had given a little groan as she rolled over, still feeling restless even though it was later in the morning. She knew she wouldn't get any further sleep, and honestly, it was getting too late. People might start asking questions. With a frown, the girl had gotten herself out of bed and thrown her long curls up into a quick, messy up-do before she ventured outside of her room. When she'd noticed Christian had already been up, she bit her lower lip. Who knew what he could have been getting into with those people, and who knew what information he could have been searching for…

With a bit more pep in her step, Clara headed down the hall and towards the stairs in search of where everyone had run off to that morning.

“That's something I feel needs to be addressed but not right now. Now, souks you like to swim?” He directed the first part to Christian but the last to the kids, wide eyes met his and he knew the answer.

“Swim!” They chirped happily, Kieran chuckled softly and held open the double doors that led into the large room. The wolves dispersed and he saw two open the doors leading into the backyard, he turned to the three bouncing kids. He crouched down and smiled when they faced him, he had a bit of a dilemma on his hands.

“I can watch them if you'd like, my name is Dyson.” The voice pulled his mind to the present, the vampire turned to the owner. The male that stood before him was tanned and had wavy black hair, his posture was relaxed and his eyes were warm. Kieran blinked and turned to face the kids, they wee waiting for his say-so. He hummed softly and rose to his feet, his gaze locked on the werewolf’s.

“Behave. And if you need anything I'm right out here.” He stated after a moment, Ryanair having moved to join the others outside. The wolves seemed surprised by the fact that the grass as lush, Ynez’s raised brow had him elaborating with a smile on his lips. “It's something that came with the house when I bought it, the ground here and at another few places around the house are heated. We don't need it but it adds something of a relaxed feel, now then how should we do this?”

At the question, everyone tensed in preparation. There were an uneven amount of people, then again Kieran wasn't sure if Christian would like to participate. He glanced up when he spotted a male wolf beginning his shift, his mouth opened to warn him but Ynez beat him to it. Her fist slapped the back of his head and he stilled, Esther huffed and lifted her hair so she could tie it into a bun. Isabela was inside and seemed content to stay there, Ryanair was observing everyone present with a smile on his lips. Kieran removed his jacket and tossed it on the chair, his fingers rolling his sleeves up to his elbows. Ynez was rolling her shoulders, the dress she wore seeming not to matter.

He found everyone was getting really into the sparing match. Kieran reached for the pull at the back of his mind and gave it a little tug, he didn't try to hide his excitement at the upcoming match-ups. Clara might benefit from this as well, Kieran noted he could feel her exhaustion and it sent a pang if guilt down his spine. Taking a slow with her would either end up good or bad, the older vampire was hoping for the latter.

At Kieran's response, Christian had raised a brow, but had not answered in return. What an odd way to answer him – considering it left more to the imagination than he desired. Still, he kept calm, and his hands remained in his pockets as he walked with the group. If this was her sire – well, not only would he still be entirely surprised that Clara hadn't given him a lashing; he would have to contain himself as well. Not only were his actions incredibly reckless those so many years ago, they were thoroughly irresponsible. He'd no idea what it had done to Clara – more so mentally than anything else. He knew nothing of those sleepless nights – the pure anger and pain – the sheer struggle of keeping her under control and keeping her from trying to destroy herself all in the same.

No; he really had no idea what he'd left in his wake that night. Christian had been the one to save her – and he would continue.

Yes – it definitely would be a discussion that Christian would not allow to pass them by.

He'd followed them all, eyeing his surroundings absentmindedly before they'd all stepped outside. Perhaps he could use a good fight at the moment – perhaps it would do him some good not to dwell on where his mind was taking him. He'd followed suit, rolling his sleeves carefully as each person had gotten prepared and had taken their spot.

Clara had only been a few short minutes behind. She'd nearly growled at that familiar pull urging her along to be with the group. She could do things on her own – she didn't need to be forced along the way. As the girl found her way towards the group, she hadn't even glanced towards Kieran, focused only on Christian whom she'd been surprised to see was mingling quite well – and clearly was ready to take part in whatever they had in mind.

"What the hell are you doing?" Clara hissed under her breath as she reached him.

Christian had only sighed and rolled his shoulders and head side to side for a moment. "Everyone has decided to have a little sparring match." He commented. "Now I know you've never turned me down, so I hope you plan to join us…" Clara frowned in return, her brow furrowed as she stood next to him. "...Whatever, Christian..." If it gave her the opportunity to kick someone's ass, then so be it… She probably could use a good fight to get her mind off of things. Hell, she'd rather go after Ryanair before anything involving Kieran would probably include someone having to pry her away.

“Right then, speed and power and to be kept at normal levels. There are human kids inside, now then shall the ass kicking begin?” Ynez spoke with a grin on her features, Kieran and both his fellow vampires tensed and answered the grin with one of their own.

The fight began immediately, Kieran facing off against Ynez. He lurched forward just as she did and for a moment it seemed their lips had collided, only for Kieran to duck away from a punch. Ryanair smirked and faced off against a female that playfully snapped her jaws at him. Her black hair was tied into a bun and her feet were bare, Ryanair blocked a kick and tossed her away.

It went on like this until the sun began lowered in the sky. In that time the kids has joined them, the sparing match for gotten as they took turns reaching the kids. Stances and moves were demonstrated and the kids mimicked them with giggles and determination. The sound of a knuckle knocking on glass had everyone's attention, Kieran blinked and straightened. Ryanair was breathing deeply and Kieran hid a smile, he knew the fight against Clara had drained him. Isabela was standing on the other side with an apron around her waist and crimson hair falling loosely down her back.

Everyone moved inside and made a beeline for the kitchen, the smell of food drawing them there. Kieran slowed when he felt Ryanair tug on his hand, his brows were drawn and he looked tired. Exhaustion mixed with irritation mixed in their bond and he wanted nothing more then to allow him to go and shower, food however was important. His fledgling thankfully didn't fight him but followed him, plates in hand everyone spread out and settled down. The kids providing everyone with enough topics to discuss that weren't the destruction and immediate war.

Kieran ate slowly and pondered on the conversation he needed to have with Clara and Christian. Ryanair would be with them and after what he'd said about Isaac awaking in the middle of the battle, the kids needed to know as well. He shook his head and smoothly entered the story Tyre was saying, the solves around them entirely immersed in the little blonde's words.

He'd say it was a good day, nothing horrible had happened yet. Though the might change when everyone was showered and tucked into bed, the conversation seeming to hang over his shoulders. He still had no answers and the memories were no clearly then before. He'd jump over thar hurtle when he needed to, for now he would enjoy the children's excitement and block out the world for a bit.

At first, Clara had been careful -- she’d stuck to going after Christian only because he had been familiar. The two squared off, neck and neck, neither one refusing to hold back simply because they knew the other wouldn’t. Clara was stubborn and Christian had learned it had only pissed her off if he held back. Eventually, the two had cause to split and Christian found himself against Esther, while Clara found herself against Ryanair -- perfect. She’d almost grinned when she realized who her partner was. No, she wouldn’t hold back one damn bit. She knew he was younger then her - hell, he was far younger than her and they’d both been raised very differently. In her youth she had begged Christian never to hold back -- she had no idea how well Kieran had trained him.

Clara kept to it, dodging punch after punch while aiming her own. She’d gotten a few good ones in and had given herself a pat on the back over it. When it had all been over and done with, however, she was catching her breath -- still tired from her lack of sleep but she knew full well he’d put up a good fight. They had to have another one of these sessions sometimes soon -- it felt good to get her aggression out on someone other than Christian -- especially if it had been against her very own replacement.

However, she would have loved to get her hands on Kieran...

Clara gave a little huff as everyone headed inside to gather their food, and Christian was automatically at her side again to check on her. She’d only brushed it off when she’d nudged him away from her, and she brushed a stray curl out of her face. Food sounded absolutely delicious at the moment and she would not deprive herself. Christian had only followed with a small huff behind her.

“I trust someone has opened a bottle of wine by now --” Clara murmured as they all headed into the kitchen. Christian had shook his head in response, however. No good ever came from that female drinking -- it either was going to be a very quiet night, or there would be a shit storm... He hoped she would just drink and go to bed, in all honesty. After all, he’d wanted a word with Kieran before the girl had gotten to him herself...

He'd only risen to deposit his plate in the sink, his gaze locking with Christian before he turned away. A shower and time to cool off would do them both good, he paused however and approached the male. “I'll meet you after I've settled the kids down and have showered, if you'd like we can meet in the library. It's under the stairs.” He whispered softly, his tone blank and tired-sounding. His shoulders felt heavy as he left the kitchen, he could feel three pairs of eyes on his back but he couldn't be bothered.

His mind wouldn't stop churning with half-formed memories and sensations.

Dinner had passed and with it, Kieran ushered the kids and Ryanair up to the second floor. A female wolf by the name of Evian had taken to caring for the kids, Kieran remained silent and allowed it. It was helpful having another set of hands, and the kids seemed to have taken a shining to not just her but everyone. As he entered their room he motioned for them to go to the bathroom, Evian following after them with clothes in her arms. Ryanair’s arms around his shoulders had Kieran tensing before melting into the embrace, he felt so damn hollow.

“You okay?” Was whispered into his ear, Kieran’s teeth grit as the answer sprung to his lips. Sudden anger filled him and he spun to face the other, it felt primal and had his heart hammering in his chest. He wasn't aware when he pinned his fledgling to the wall, less so when he'd buried his face in the juncture between his collarbone and shoulder. His fingers spasmed in the clothe he gripped, Ryanair’s arms engulfing him and tightening. “This talk seems to be bringing back memorise you can't seem to understand. Will you still do it?” These words were whisperer into his hair, Kieran shaking his head in a sharp gesture.

The sound of the shower turning on filled the silence as he tried to regain control. He swallowed and pressed himself closer to the other, his nose nuzzling against the blonde's mark. Terror, hunger and exhaustion were waring inside of him. The sensation of flame tracing over his body had him shivering, his eyes squeezing tightly closed. Why was the simple fact that the mention of the conversation had him reacting like this?

Was he going insane? His eyes snapped open when warmth settled itself against his temple. Kieran pulled back and before he could think, his fangs had pierced his mark. Their bond flared and Ryanair melted into his arms, Kieran gathering him closer and he willed his mind to settle. He wasn't a child and scared of his father anymore, he was a man and he needed to try and make sense of the only part of his existence that refused to make sense. After a moment more, Kieran pulled away and licked the blood trailing down Ryanair’s neck. His fledgling shuddered and made a low sound, Kieran helped him stand and moved them to the door.

Pausing before the door he knew Ryanair had claimed as his own, he dismissed it with a shake if his head. He'd taken what little energy his Ryanair had and he felt horrible about it. He led them to his own room, opening the door and guiding them to the bathroom. Twenty minutes later both emerged, Ryanair more asleep then awake. Kieran led him to his king-sized bed and settled him down amongst the sheets, he smoothed the others wet locks away from his face. Emerald eyes opened and blinked sleepily up at him, their bond flared with affection and trust. Ryanair was silently telling him that he wasn't mad, that he understood and accepted what Kieran needed of him. The elder vampire leaned forward and pressed his forehead against the blonde's, his mind was calmer but his heart ached.

He pressed a kiss to Ryanair’s forehead before he moved away, his lips lingering over the others. He sent an answering wave of affection and regret, before pressing a chaste kiss upon the warm lips of his fledgling. “Sleep now, pet. Tomorrow is another day and we still have to plan, I'll be back shortly.” The blonde nodded and Kieran straightened to exit the room, he had the children to put to bed. Ten minutes later and a story read, Kieran sat in the library with a book opened in his lap.

It was time to make sense of the mess in his head.

Clara had been tired - more so than she’d like to admit. Still, the girl ate in silence, and had anyone else not opened a bottle of wine - she sought it out herself. She needed a drink to keep her sane - needed something to keep her from snapping out. She’d felt it building up - she’d wanted to shove Ryanair aside in their little fight and take all of her anger out on Kieran, but she wasn’t allowed. There simply was no time. Either way, it was probably for the better. He had too many friends here - ones who had not asked whom she was, nor did she suspect they truly knew. For all they knew she could have just been a stray vampire in the area willing to help. For all they new, Christian could have been her sire.

As everyone cleared their plates, Clara had risen to clear her own. However, she soon returned when others parted, once more sneaking away with the remaining bottle of wine - her glass cradled to her chest. She was silent as she slipped away, back up to her room, shutting the door behind her. A slow sigh fell from her lips as she sat down on the bed, her back to the headboard before she took a slow sip of her wine again. She really needed to get sleep that night - and if she had to drink to get it, then so be it...

--
Christian had not looked at Kieran when he’d heard his words, nor had he reacted for Clara’s sake. The less she knew, the better. He did not need her snooping around should she find out Kieran wanted to talk to him. No, it was probably for the best if she was ignorant of it.

He’d played the part - acting as if he’d gotten ready for bed so Clara wouldn’t think a thing of it. He doubted any suspicion was on her mind anyway, he’d seen her steal away with a bottle of wine and knew it was going to be another one of those nights..

Eventually, his steps led him slowly towards the study where he was to meet Kieran. He’d seen the male sitting there, and he carefully approached, unsure of how to start the conversation. His suspicions were practically confirmed at that point and he wanted to go about it civilly... however, it was quite difficult given the circumstances. Kieran really had no idea what he’d done.

“I’m willing to assume that I probably already know the answer to my question.” Christian spoke quietly as he slowly took a seat, eyeing the male carefully before him. “You’re him, aren’t you?” His expression was plain, jaw set as he watched Kieran carefully. "...And she knows it full well."

“That's right.” He stated without glancing but from the book in his hands, his posture didn't change aside from his eyes blinking. Kieran released a on sigh and decided to elaborate, he had a suspension of what was going to come. “I'm her sire, and I take responsibility for my lack of actions towards her. At the time of her creation I wasn't myself and in a way I'm to blame for what happened the night. It's a blur but what I can remember is agony, exhaustion and a hunger I hadn't felt since I was a child.” Kieran closed the book I'm his hands and glanced up to meet the eye of eye man before him.

He could feel it again, the heaviness of memories that refused to focus. His gaze remained unwavering as he pieced out the hazy pictures that filtered across his mind. He felt like a child one more, waiting with bated breath as his father stared down at him. His mouth opened and he began to speak once more, his fingers tightening against his arms of his chair. “I was being hunted by a family of vampires, I don't remember how long but I was drained and struggling. They'd shit me so many times with silver-laced weapons I didn't even know my own name anymore. The town I came to was quiet and still had warmth filling it from the people that had walked it's streets. I was so damn tired I just wanted to rest... I stumbled upon a beach after warily walking through the silence. A lone figure stood watching the waves as they crashed against the shoreline, her heartbeat strong and alive.

The words were tumbling out now, unchained and free as if he weren't sorting through his mind. Kieran was still but his eyes were blank, he wasn't there but in the past. “I walked towards her with my hand outstretched and lips parted as if to speak, though the air left my lungs when she turned around. She was beautiful but her expression was one of pain, without knowing it we met each other in the middle. I wasn't aware that I'd bitten her until I smelled blood, and that only had my control shattering. I left a necklace with her that I know she still has, I was weak and felt raw and vulnerable. I didn't wish to hurt her and so I checked to make sure she was fine before taking off. I wanted to keep her safe and in hindsight I didn't realize I'd changed her until I felt the bond that night at the beach. I...I've failed as both an elder vampire and a sire.” He finished with a shudder that seemed to shake his very core. His mind was finally clear and with it, his shoulders felt lighter as well as heavier. He'd left Clara alone that night, unaware that he'd changed her and that she would die when the sun rose.

He'd ruined a life by unconciously leaving that person alone. He'd found Ryanair and had taken the blonde in with little thought, why was it that he hadn't felt the bond before that? Why hadn't it flared when he'd taken the blonde?

Those were the questions now that filled his head. His eyes closing as a deep-rooted exhaustion sweeped through his body.

Out of all of the things that Christian had expected, he hadn’t entirely expected Kieran to come out with the truth so quickly. It almost caught him off guard, however, his emotionless expression did not waver. The man sat back in his seat, his hands resting on each arm of the chair in an attempt to keep himself in check. He would allow the male to speak, that much he knew. He needed to at least get his side of the story, although he didn’t want to hear it all in the same. There was no excuse good enough to justify what had happened to Clara that night; there was absolutely nothing that man could do to heal those wounds that continued to reopen. He really hadn’t a clue...

Christians hands came to tighten around the arms of the chair as Kieran spoke. So, he would blame it all on being hunted and being out of his mind. No, he had not meant to hurt her, but he’d hurt her in more ways than one throughout all of the years of abandonment. Perhaps it wasn’t his intention, but he’d left a hell of a shit-storm in his wake -- one that Christian had tried to tame tirelessly.

“You’re right.” Christian suddenly spoke, his voice oddly calm as he eyed Kieran, his eyes flashing in that anger that did not resonate throughout his body just yet. “You’ve entirely failed at both; yet first and foremost - you’ve failed her more than you can ever understand. Quite honestly, I’m surprised you are even sitting here in one piece in front of me. I’ve no idea how that woman can stand to be around you, let alone stay in your home. Perhaps it’s instinct, I suppose.” He continued, watching Kieran carefully.

“Your little mistake could have cost all of us as vampires - but it had cost that girl far more than you can ever imagine. For years she’s been tormented, wondering what the hell was wrong with her - that she’d been left behind that way. Could you imagine? She truly believed it was something she did to cause her to be abandoned; to cause her to suffer the way she had. She would have died that morning - and hell, she’d tried to die so many times in the years following. But I doubt any of that crossed your mind. I doubt she’d even crossed your mind until I brought her back here -- a terrible mistake, on my part.” His words grew further harsh as he felt the rage growing within him.

“I doubt you understand what an abandonment such as that could do to a person.” Christian paused. “For instance -- Ryanair. It’s easy to see he is one of yours -- and I’m sure that is such a wonderful sight for Clara to see so openly -- Could you imagine if he had simply been separated from you? I doubt he could continue on without being by your side for far too long - that pain of separation can get to a person - in more ways than one.”

“And it amazes me that we’re here. That after all that you’ve put her through - all of the suffering that she’s dealt with -- she’s still there to fight next to you - and you’ve hardly done shit in return. You know nothing of who she is; of who she became without you. You simply continue to take advantage.”

“You owe that woman the world, and I doubt you can ever begin to fix it. I’ve been with her since the beginning -- and I can’t even take that pain away.” Christian hissed as he stood. Clearly he was more a sire to Clara than Kieran ever could be, and to see Clara endure all of this in front of him - it only pissed him off even further.

“I have a remedy that she might take up. I can never hope to fix it, but I hope to. Abandonment is something...Tomorrow morning we'll see what happens, I hope something will change. I've lived too long and don't wish to hurt anyone else. I know what it feels like to be alone.” Kieran stated with a monotone voice, his head tilted to side. He'd dodged the mention of his childhood, No one needed to know how been treated as a child.

Those memories were starting to creep into his mind now, his eyes blinking slowly as if to clear them. The nights he'd spent waiting for the father he'd admired, the moments he wished for his mother's warm embrace. He could remember the feel of long strands of hair between his fingers, the tinkling laugh that filled his ears.

He didn't stop the memories from taking over his mind.

A young Kieran walked beside his mother with a smile on his lips. Raven-black hair swayed in the breeze around them as they continued down the street, the townspeople waving as they passed. A squeeze of his hand had Kieran turning to face his beautiful mother, his head tilted to the side in question.

“What shall we do today, love?” Her voice was soft and smooth, Kieran blinked and turned his head to the streets they walked. His free hand lifting to fiddle with a necklace he'd been given by his friend Esther a week ago. The emerald was warm from the sun's rays, he hummed softly and shifted closer to his mother.

“The Shallows?” He questioned with a blink of his eyes, his mother's musical laughter filling the air in answer. His father hadn't been home for a few days and Kieran noted how his mother rarely allowed them to spend time at home. They were always out and about, Kieran’s mission to keep his mother happy.

Those days ended on the night of a moonless sky. Kieran awoke to a scream that had him lurching from his bed, his footsteps leading him to his parents room. A iron grip encircled his neck the moment he entered the darkened room, the smell of blood thick in the air.

“Mommy…?” Kieran asked hesitantly as the hand tightened it's grip, blazing silver eyes met his wide sky-blue ones. He'd grown and with the time that passed he noticed his mother was acting strange. His father hissed and pinned him harder into the wall behind him, Kieran didn't put up a fight.

“She's dead and it's your fault.” Were the words that filled his young ears, Kieran’s eyes widened as his head shook in denial. He could smell the blood on his father's hands, his eyes frantically searching the darkness for his mother. She was on her bed with the covers thrown away in disarray. Her mouth was open and her eyes were blank, her hair fanning out around her almost as if representing a halo.

His young mind snapped. Before he knew what he was doing, his father was across the room and clutching his missing arm. Kieran snarled a feral-souding noise and lurched himself forward, only to lurch away with a pained cry. A silver dagger was embedded in his arm, he glanced up and found the room empty aside from his mother.

He didn't move from where he collapsed against the wall. When morning came he began to dig a grave and settled his still mother within the wooden box he'd created. Kieran had cleaned her as best he could, his movements mechanical and stiff. She was in her best dress and her hair tied into a low ponytail, Kieran placed a bouquet in her arms and settled the top on the casket. He buried her with a silent goodbye, before turning to his childhood home and returning inside. He'd packed a bag and grabbed a lit torch from the wall, he lit the house ablaze.

He never looked back. Though the ache took a long time to disappear.

Kieran rose to his feet and with a stiff nod towards Christian, he made his way upstairs. His chest ached and when he entered his room, he felt his control slip away like water. He'd just manged to close the door before his legs gave and his body curled into a tight ball.

Christian was careful to speak, unwilling to start a fight when the man had that many acquaintances under one roof - and he knew full well Clara would intervene. So he sat still, eyeing the male with a new disdain the entire time he’d spoken. He’d seen his expressions, tried to read him, however, his words were hardly satisfactory. Hell, Christian hadn’t known why he was giving the man even an opportunity to let Clara down once more - but at the end of it all, or even anywhere along the way he’d regret it if he’d make another mistake.

“See to it that you do try to fix it.” Christian bit out, coming to a stand as Kieran had. He did not speak further, watching the other male as he left the room before he slowly headed upstairs himself. He was full of frustration, knowing exactly what he’d wanted to do to keep Clara from him. He didn’t need the female to get hurt any further and he seriously doubted that Kieran could do anything to try and heal their situation. No good could come of this. And if it had failed, just as he thought it might, he would take her far, far away again where Kieran couldn’t find her; where he couldn’t hurt her again.

He had paused at Clara’s door momentarily, his hand wavering above the knob in a moment of hesitation. No, he probably shouldn’t wake her if she’d fallen asleep -- perhaps the alcohol would have done her some good that night and she was able to find solace in that.

With a slow sigh, Christian headed towards his own room before settling carefully into bed. This definitely had changed things, he thought, and he wasn’t sure how everything would play out over the next few days. Clearly, Christian’s relationship with Kieran had suddenly shifted, and he wasn’t sure if he could stay around the male for too long. Silently, he wondered if any of the others really were aware of who Clara was, especially to Kieran, or if they’d assumed she’d been a local who wanted to help. Either way, the man had eventually drifted to sleep and was up early for coffee once more.

-
The next morning Clara had risen late yet again, the feeling of exhaustion still heavy on her bones. She was finding it more and more difficult to sleep there, and she almost wondered if she should ask Christian to find another place to stay. Her thoughts ate at her endlessly, offering her no relief of the day come night time.

With a frown, she’d stepped into the shower, allowing the hot water to envelope her. She’d been in there for far too long, perhaps, before she’d decided to leave it’s comforts, slowly dressing and brushing through her long curls again. She’d pushed a stray one out of her face and back into the haphazard up-do that she’d placed it in, before slowly headed downstairs in search of her own coffee - her steps quiet, not a word to be said.

“Why do I feel like shit hit the fan?” Ynez questioned as she ate her plate of food, her packmates continued eating but filled their bond with curiosity and confusion. The Alpha watched as her friend drank his coffee, how quiet Ryanair was at his side.

Something had happened and she damn well wanted to know what. Shifting a strand of brunette hair from her face, she kicked the vampire's knee and continued eating. Kieran winced but didn't seemed inclined to look up, he'd been quiet since he'd come down and Ynez didn't like it. Ryanair’s gaze focused on hers and she noticed how worried he was, he didn't want to interfere but Ynez could.

“I heard whispering the night before” Evian stated from the other side of the room, Ynez arched a questioning brow at her Beta. She hasn't really been paying attention, she'd taken a shower and had passed out. Apparently she missed some Juicy details, damn exhaustion she was curious now. Evian grinned and raised her hand to card through orange locks, her brown eyes narrowed. “It was quiet and even I had trouble listening, Orionwouldn't shut up either so blame him.” Evian stated with a flick of her wrist, Ynez watched as her male Beta bristled and showed his teeth. It was playful banter so she saw no means to intervene, though her question hadn't been answered yet.

“Nothing happened last night, now if you'll excuse.” Kieran bit out and rose to his feet, Ynez watched as he placed his cup in the sink and exited the room. Ynez blinked and allowed a pensive frown to draw her lips downwards, she didn't miss thr look Evian and Orion shared.

The wolves rose and moved out and into the snow-covered backyard, their forms already shifting. They'd practice for a bit and catch a few bits of conversation as they ran around.

○~○~○~○~○~○

Kieran walked with quiet and heavy footsteps. His destination wasn't clear but his feet guided him forward. The smell of poolwater and a familiar set of doors met him a fee moments later, he pushed them open and walked inside. It was quiet in the room and for that he was grateful for, he took a seat in one of the furthest seats and began to ponder.

Ryanair had migrated somewhere but kept their bond quiet, it was blocked but the silence in his mind relaxed him. He didn't deserve the blonde who he'd turned, he really didn't deserve the friends he had not if be was being honest. With a sigh he closed his eyes and allowed his head to fall against the chairs cushioned back.
