Always wanted to pitch an arena Rp called: The Multiverse Games (needs a better name) that takes place in the universe that is Roleplay Guild. Players can take characters from any roleplay they've made an character for a play them in an ever changing arena. But this is never just a brawl, it could be a survival game, a tourney, a mystery to solve. Its ever changing, and doesn't require some superpower character to play. Never thought it could work.

Some stupid RP that takes place in a universe where everything related to MLG memes exist. So quickscoping six year-olds and the Illuminati exist in reality, and Gabe Newell being a literal god. It's just too stupid and random to play, but I'll be damned if I actually get it up and running.

I can't believe you actually did it. And besides, I'm writing a book.

You should really reboot your RP.

Elaborate kinks. Elaborate kinks, and politics.

I made that, once, and it survived for like three years.

Follow your dreams, kiddo.

Greetings,

I'm not quite sure if this is weird; however, I am weary to pitch it in an interest check because quite frankly I would not want to do any work on the matter only to find that I've wasted about an hour or so of my time.

A tavern/inn role play. Who participates? Anyone who wants to make a character that is simply up for a gathering and story telling amongst other players who find interest in the new arrival. What would they do? Whatever might happen in a tavern or inn. Perhaps they share drinks with old or new acquaintences. Maybe they simply rent a room looking to rest from a tedious journey. Maybe they are looking to pluck the dust off their lute with the local musicians. Or maybe they are looking to assassinate one of the current patrons. It is really up to anyone's imagination.

The entire purpose is just for people to brush the dust of their bones, perhaps try something new. Being friendly and amicable amongst each other to make new role playing friends. Realistically, I'm not quite sure people would be interested. But it has always been something interesting I've thought about.

@ELGainsboroughI helped run something like this on another site. It was a tavern whose exterior door could be anywhere, and whose interior door lead to wherever the leaving patron wanted. We had medieval knights sitting alongside intergalactic space pirates. It was great, and if one were to pop up here, I'd be down for it.

As for my own nonsensical RP idea: A Hitchhiker's Guide RP. Just wacky characters galavanting around an equally-wacky setting. I always thought the setting wasn't enough to really base too much off of, but I'd love to do it.

This exists, search for "TNT" (The Nameless Tavern), I believe it's still going.

Though a fresh one could be interesting.

Personally? Right now I have a few canons not going anywhere, yet as an experiment I wanted to throw out MiniRPs that would end after a month or so. Problem is, if it's decent, it takes more than a month... or I come up with something for the next month and end up losing the bulk of my interest.

So there's two things; I want to advance two universes that have long gone with barely any attention, yet I feel like an asshole if I drop the next MiniRP. It's not an all-bad concept, I just don't have the heart for it right now; yet dumping and going somewhere else every interest check is exactly what I hold against some nameless people here.

Basically, if I try to push either canon, I'm going to go down hypocrite path.

@ELGainsborough
Depending on the circumstances and characters presented, this could actually be interesting. I think this sort of role-play scenario is likely to actually occur during other role-plays that aren't centred around the idea - to the best of my knowledge a lot of D&D role-plays pretty much start in a tavern - but you're basically suggesting this be the focus of the role-play, right?

I could picture it being interesting having characters sitting in a tavern discussing stories or sharing ideas, though how interesting would probably depend on how interesting the characters and their content was.

As suspected though, from what's been said since your post it's not something that hasn't been done, so that probably does hint that it's not weird (as you contemplated in your post).

Edit: I planned to respond to this yesterday, but my PC has been having severe problems again.

@ELGainsborough, not a surprise to at last see you gallivanting about. This said, interesting proposal all the same and as others have mentioned similar ideas have indeed been carried out here on the Guild, but I am uncertain as to what vein they are in; whether they are quite serious or more humored in approach. I am assuming the latter over the former, but do not take my word as any sort of authority on it. With what @Shoryu Magami said though, the quality of content could and would vary greatly based on the company kept and the real issue stems from the truth of "Where do we even go with this next?"

This is one of the reasons why I not only take a while to check if people are committed role-players before accepting them into the IC, but I also won't present an interest check for a role-play until I've had it going on in my mind long enough to confirm it's not just a phase or something I'll lose interest in quickly -- doing this prevents me abandoning a project shortly after starting it, since I personally hate doing that as well.

While my main story project is the only setting that 100% never loses my interest, I still find it important to confirm dedication before beginning a role-play, since there's no point starting what you don't plan to finish.

After looking up the new SyFy show Incorporated, I kind of want to run a similar style of NRP with massive multinational companies taking the place of nations although I don't have enough time I think atm and that there's going to be some issues with how to play it out. Like how deep into economics and business to get and the world/other stuff beyond the dystopian capitalism incarnate.

Yeah, I was thinking of creating one set in the distant future where players take control of several megacorporations that run a human colony world, but then I realised that I suck at NRPs.

A seriously long played roleplay where your characters start off as young middle school aged children/preteens and then through several "chapters" of the roleplay your characters grow up together and eventually head to college or something along that line. (Depending on the genre) People will come and go in the roleplay, so it doesn't hold up anyone too much as the chapters continue.

IE: In chapter 6 a new member joins as the boyfriend/girlfriend of another character-
But by chapter 7 that person has left the thread so now that person is single once more and can start playing the field once more.

It would take at least a few people who are seriously dedicated to make it work, and keep the "town" going. But that character development would be something else... That's what I'm really looking for, something where your character can really develop over time, and not just within a couple minutes of making em'.

I also would like some people to join a game like Vidictus with me from the beginning and we can play and roleplay together via the game- then come on to the guild and write about, and go into some of the other details or certain things that we couldn't do in the game.

Here is another to consider, a similar pitch to my previous measure...

Consider a small hamlet or a thorp. A small collection of individuals to partake in the role play of an individual community where the players would participate in normal activities for daily villages. Some might play farmers, others might play blacksmiths. It would be the GMs job to meander about interactions to keep players enticed for a time being. However, the GM will also provide raiding parties, interactions with the men of an unsavory king looking to maintain control and gather a rate much to high for proper taxes or whatever else a village might deal with on a regular basis. This particular thread would deal greatly on player constructed narrative with intermittent bouts of collective interaction to deal with problems or share drinks at the local tavern after a hard days work. What happens when player a) who has children (NPC or otherwise) is meant to deal the theft of a neighbor PCs crops?

While it may sound boring to many. To me is sounds like a good way to pass the time while waiting for other role playing threads to move along. Quite frankly, I'm not sure what purpose it would serve other than to brush the dust off some bones and get people into the mood of writing. Just a thought...
