@mdk to be totally honest I was just picking the top 3 off topic right wingers I could remember, there is nothing you've said that's particularly off-brand, I remember you quoting a source from The_Donald sub-reddit once but that's it.

Also I should mention that you seem to have actual conservative views and thats miles better than being some broadly politically illiterate reactionary who just blindly agrees with anything that is "Not the feminazis". Like Weird Tales for example.

Keep doing you bro, we haven't got any problems.

T_D is a fantastic resource. You get to see (a) what the fanatics are on about, and (b) what the actual real life media actually really doesn't want you to see. The trick is being able to tell which is which -- but if you can do that, you should really browse T_D. If you can't tell the difference, regardless of what side you're on, you should probably stay away. But also (c) they got some pretty decent memes, albeit with a dash of persecution complex. So you can get sucked in easy if you let yourself.

Curious -- besides anything I've linked you to, have you ever been to T_D? It's better if you haven't. If you haven't, what have you heard about it? I'm wondering if T_D's ideas about their own reputation hold any merit.

I went thought there a couple of times. I mostly got the impression it was the sorts of dudes you meet in school who unironically spout memes and try to talk over the teacher. Their opinions seem to be conspiracy theory based for the most part.

largely. It follows a pattern of talking point --> meme --> conspiracy theory --> internet sleuthing --> meme --> piece of insignificant evidence marked THIS IS BIG --> meme --> conspiracy totally confirmed

TBF though that's basically how CNN operates at this point, minus the entertainment value.

Dont see many memes coming out of CNN, they seem pretty milquetoast tbh.

Ive been on there plenty of times, its entertaining for a short time in the same way watching crackheads beat each other up is entertaining. Ive occasionally seen a smart discussion on there, but far to often its big CAPS LOCK FUCKING LIBTARDS/CUCKSERVATIVES/PAID SHILLS DONT WANT AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. I get that its ironic on some level but its annoying.

As far as the actual content, a lot of it is just recycles articles from brietbart and infowars and occasionally actual white nationalist sites such as American Renaissance, Alternative Hypothesis and Voat. If right wingers want to make the case that they are calm rational individuals who want to be able to respectfully discuss ideas with everyone and its the Left who are over emotional echo chamber cry babys who cant handle facts, then The_Donald really isn't the best place to justify that characterization.

No, see, for that I'd point you to literally any other political subreddit.

@mdk Please don't be making the argument that the donald is the only right leaning subreddit, there are plenty.

Politics is a largely serious thing.

@mdk You must have been on r/conspiracy, Kotaku in Action, Anarcho Capitalism, White Rights r/infowars etc

The Donald is only unique because of how strange they all act, and the stuff they ban people over. Like Doggo said, its fun, but it wears thin pretty quick.

I mean if you think Ben Shapiro is alt right I guess I can see why itd be a bit of a circus for you lol.

But the implications of politics are serious, no amount of memes will change that.

You make some weird assumptions and I'm trying to decide how I should take them. Leaning towards swiftboating. *shrug* Not important I guess.

T_D is interesting to me because they present facts that get suppressed everywhere else. And lots of bullshit, too, lots of which amuses me. But mostly for that counter-narrative.

Let me rephrase what I said, you must have heard of these other subreddits. Again I'm just pointing out to you that the idea that T_D has 100% exclusive content is crazy. They literally lift most of their 'news' from infowars, sometimes brietbart and sometimes fox news. T_D is unique in some ways, but breaking stories that no other sub reddit is touching is just not one of them.

I love that 'news' is in quotes, first of all. Second, just because you can find pigs at a farm, doesn't mean the farm has the best BBQ in town. Third, of course there is unique content at T_D, in the same way there is unique content on RPG, because its users are human beings (unlike /r/esist and that ilk, whose users are bots). T_D also has (by a large number) more users than anything you listed (and most other subreddits), so it stands to reason that it has more original content. Fourth, I never hear these sorts of critiques for the Daily Show or Samantha Bee or Colbert Report or John Oliver -- if they can do it why can't we? And fifth it's irrelevant, I get my actual news from BBC anyway, and if you like I'll explain why.

Last, you know, maybe I'm wrong and there are plenty of places JUST LIKE T_D but better. If you can point out another small-government, anti-corruption, pro-US, conservative forum which celebrates racial differences and LGBT and fights media bullshit, you know.... Obviously I'm into that stuff. Link me, plz. I'll totally go there too. Maybe one that's a teensie bit less islamophobic.

@Dynamo Frokane First you say that politics is serious. But that isn't the case, many people have been having a laugh about politics since far before either of us were born. Now you say the implications of politics is serious and you expect me to run down that goalpost too.

@Kratesis When I said politics was important I was referring to the implications, maybe I should have been clear. The goalposts remain in the same place. And I take it you dont have an argument against that position.
