I know this is a double post, but I'd like to say I don't want any premade characters. Several of you mentioned wanting to use an already made one, but I really would prefer it if you guys made sheets from scratch. ^^;


I would say at least tailor them to be better adapted to the world in mind.

That's a really really long explanation that will be elaborated in the OOC, but I'll give a simple answer right now:

Magic works in the world like it does in typical RPG games; it mostly centers on elements, like summoning a fire ball or creating an ice storm. In order to use magic, it's channeled through tomes. A mage can't use magic without specific tomes (like Harry Potter can't use magic without his wand). If a mage wants to use Fire magic, they would need a tome on fire magic in order to read spells and use it to channel energy.

Magic is considered bad mostly because of its origins, which are taboo and shrouded in darkness (will be explained in OOC). People thus think of mages as people who have connections to demons and other evil entities.

What about tattoos? So basically the spell circle writings whatever are written over a character's body and they focus on them while saying an incantation if needed to use a spell?

So treating the human body like a tome and the skin as pages.

@Bishop Nope, that won't work. The tome is actually the thing you use to channel magic with, like a wand or staff. Without the wand or staff (or tome in this case), you can't cast a spell.

I suppose I failed to properly convey my thoughts. I had an RP pull that just this week, and in doing so the character I had written specifically for it ended up with major incompatibilities. Fixing said issues would have robbed much of the character's personality to the point I felt the only option fair to both me and the other players was to withdraw. So that doesn't excite me at all ... its a pretty sizable red flag.

That said, my interest at least holds until I can see the OOC.

Can I throw in my two cents?

We shouldn't be creating characters for this (or any) RP based only on the interest check. The interest check is just the bare bones basics. Is there interest? If so, the GM will then add more details. If there is no interest, why should the GM spend time putting in all of the details.

Wait for the details in the 'official' game to start before putting all of the details into your character. If somebody says it's looks good and they have interest, but the first game posts have details they don't like, they can drop (really, never join) the game. No harm, no foul.

Ahh, so you mean an outside catalyst that must be an object. How about a crystal? Would that work? Seen fmab? A crystal about the size of the philosopher stone. Does the crystal's size affect the power of the magic?

@Ambra Aye, sorry, was in the middle of a tournament and looking at this between the matches. Didn't read the last part very well where you mentioned wands as examples in general.

So on to the next question. Can my tome have a special effect? When my MC uses an incantation the tome momentarily merges with the mage and transforms him into a beast, creature, another human disguise? Shape shifting tome. And the amount of time the user can hold that form depends on their fortitude. If they can't control the power anymore they permanently stay transformed as the creature they currently are and the tome vanishes.
