It doesn't matter where you were, what planet you were on, or even what universe. You awake here, in this dungeon.

Maybe you have some unique abilities, or skills. Envy those with supernatural talents, because you awake with nothing but the clothes on your back, your knowledge, and strengths. The good news, or perhaps bad, depending who you are, is you are not alone. You will quickly find several others in the same situation, and though some may seem odd to you, you must work together to escape, and possibly figure out who is behind this.

You find no doors leading out, and no windows. You are clearly below ground. There are no ladders or stairs leading up, however, only down.

Rules:
1. Please don't be OP or god mod. You should know if you are doing this.
2. Don't control other people's characters or auto hit. No controlling or auto hitting significant enemies either. I will control bosses.
3. If I ask you to edit something, please do.
4. Feel free to ask questions and make requests for the rp but don't argue with me, the GM, your lord and master.
5. You may only have one character, with the exception of some enemies. Your current character must die before you can bring in another.
6. Your character might die. If this happens, you are free to make another that will find the group. And don't be too upset. Even mine are not immune.
7. You have no weapons to begin with, but will find some later. Ammo is not unlimited, however, and melee weapons can break.
8. Nobody knows how they got here or why. They just woke up on the ground.
9. Character must be OC. Otherwise we might fight your character and it would be weird.
10. You can wait and decide your tier 2 and 3 abilities after they are unlocked, but after that they are set.

This rules out any kind of technology based character, unfortunately. In fact, not being able to bring your own weapons rules out my top two character choices for this RP.

Also, you should maybe make it clearer in the first post that this RP is going to involve battling canon characters with our OC's. That was the main draw of this RP for me, but anyone stumbling on the thread at this point wouldn't get that from the first post as it is now.

Why are the technology based characters ruled out, though?
Don't characters like iron man, tenno(warframe), guardians(destiny), necrons(warhammer40K), masterchief(Halo), batman(DC) or Optimus Prime (transformers) have powers that still make them effective, even without their weapons?

You could probably still make the characters, but instead let the powers of the weapon be the powers of your characters.
I mean, I get that an ichigo(bleach) or guts(berserk) character needs their weapons to be utmost effective, but they can/could survive a fight without them?

Technology based characters was kind of a broad statement so I apologise about that. I meant characters who gain all or most of their abilities from using technology, someone like Captain Cold or Syndrome i.e. regular humans with powerful weapons.

You could probably still make the characters, but instead let the powers of the weapon be the powers of your characters.


That would make them a different character though. I'd still be able to use the same powers but it would completely alter their backstory.

Some of your examples raise an interesting questions though. @MikkishtheLeprechaun, do our characters also start without armour? What about stuff like magic rings that aren't weapons but which grant abilities?

Is one of the ways to fix that to have our characters powers be subject to the environment?
I'm thinking more in terms of 'werewolves under a full moon, regardless of being in it's light', then 'vampires go out at night'.
(The slightly older versions of werewolves)

Could we maybe make them "state" based more than abilities?
Like, "Once you are completely exhausted, you may release the adrenaline to create a fireball."
This is more of a reversed "you don't have enough mana", but it should make your character resort to "getting" into a state where they can call upon their powers, rather than blasting everything away at once.

Might be shooting my character in the foot here, but the moon(or stars, plotdevice, character's mood) could be gm-controlled.

We might also relate the weakness of our characters to our powers usage?

'Use it too much you die' hasn't listened to his own advice in most media... but maybe we could spice it up by having it depend on the other characters/other characters conditions?

(Yes, I am hurling ideas at you.. all of you :p )

I am a fair GM, and as we have not begun the IC yet I may change that but I have a question for yall.

These technology based characters, are they truly nothing without their weapons? Iron man, for example (though we won't be playing as him) is a genius, with or without his suit. I was thinking of having such characters survive by their wit alone, at the start. We would be finding weapons soon anyways, they wouldn't be exactly what such a character always used, but the point is challenges and allowing for character growth as well as having the player think in new ways.

If you insist, and I do change it, I wouldn't just full blown allow the character an arsenal right away, but I would accommodate.

Also about the Canon characters vs OC characters, I don't want to allow characters of other canons just because it may conflict with my plans of who we face next. And the idea of having doppelgangers fight each other seems cliche and dull to me.

They wouldn't be nothing, but they would be drastically weaker than intended. Iron Man may not completely helpless without his suit, but he is definitely far weaker than he would be normally.

It's not an issue anyway, I'll just use a different character, it was just a restriction I did not expect.

(like, linking images that solidify our ideas of what we're up against in terms of combat or location)

Also, on the subject of certain characters being at a disadvantage.

Even without magical powers, surely these characters have some unique trait that, while not supernatural, are rare and set them apart from the rest? Something you might even put down for "supernatural ability" and it would leave room for more skills.

I don't mind being at a disadvantage.
I think it allows the character to have very outspoken threats and challenges.
