Tomato is an oddball for me. I don't like tomatoes, but I'm fine with pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce, ketchup, etc. Same thing with bananas and oranges. I'll eat banana bread or banana laffy taffy, but won't eat a banana even if it would save my life. For oranges, I'll drink orange juice or anything flavored orange, but I won't touch the actual fruit.

Guess I just like the taste rather than the actual thing, or something like that.

I understand completely. I can only eat tomatoes if they're like.... required in a dish. Like veggie soup or something. I also like ketchup. And will eat a tomato sandwich. Just don't like them on my burgers, tacos, etc.

I would sooner starve to death than successfully manage a vegan diet as virtually none of these things I find edible. The sole reason they would be consumed at all would be out of desperation.

The meat is the meal. Everything else is just decoration or some compliment to the main course--meat!

I do however enjoy the occasional bowl of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich.

As one who has chosen to lead a vegan lifestyle for about six years, aside from just feeling physically and mentally cleaner, it has certainly expanded my meal preparations in inventive ways due to having to supplement a lot of things. But honestly there isn't anything I miss from my carnivore days...

I've been a vegetarian for more than half my life. The concept of needing meat to complete a meal is so foreign to me at this point, I can't really wrap my head around it.

As I have shared in the past, my diet is largely and almost strictly carnivorous and I begin to obsess about meat the longer I go without it. What is the new fact then? I can go for a longer period without eating than I can eating things that are not flesh. The idea of food at all and having it, but not what I should be consuming, reminds me just how truly I hunger for what is amiss. At some point, one just ceases being hungry enough to care about food whatsoever.

One of the rules when rationing yet water is plentiful is that, generally when one is hungry, drink water instead. Unless coming close to a gallon of water per day this is a better option than eating and satiates similarly. However, this is obviously not a long term solution and was mostly a "field solution" to hunger, @Hellion. One of those survival principals that is very loosely based and it does indeed work, at least in my experience.

A great time ago, many, many years now, I was more fascinated with science, technology, and machinery than I am now. I am not certain what turned me away from it but I believe it may well be that I came to see it as more a source of problem than solution.

I took an Uber alone for the first time yesterday. I freaked out a little because the map showed me a location and the vehicle wasn't there. It was pouring rain, close to 2:00 AM, and I was on my own walking back and forth and trying to cross to the west side of the train station. I called him and the call dropped. Then he called me back and we sorted things out.

Bit of a scary experience but I survived.
