George Washington University: Starbucks...

Watts stared at Andy warily - she reminded him of another young, haunted girl. Belladonna had betrayed them all for the Sisterhood, another organization of rich mutants trying to cling to power they did not deserve. He had been protective of her, thinking of her like another child of his. "If you betray anyone here - or even think of endangering my daughter, I'll use you as a glorified petri dish for studying M-Pox. And when I finish my experiments, I'll sterilize you with bleach and snap your fucking neck," Watts threatened.

Leda groaned. "Daaaad, why are you so embarrassing all the time..."

The young girl's mood rapidly turned though, her jaw dropping as Kristina went up to the door and popped on out, before nearly killing someone with her eyes! She hadn't really been paying much attention to the developments in the fight, so Leda assumed that whoever Kristina had almost killed must have been one of the guys attacking her earlier. "Bloody hell... She just nerfed that wanker..."

"Language," Watts warned.

"Sorry, she just nerfed that fucking wanker."

Veil

Location: George Washington University: the Street
Skills: Leadership, Perception
Pyro snickered slightly at Echo's brief sing-a-long. "Quicksilver's obsessed with that song and I'm sorry babes, but he's got better pipes than you! Though I guess if you can't project, maybe you can succ." Unlike when Jinx had died, Pyro wasn't choked up in the slightest at the White Queen's demise. She was only sixteen years old or so and she acted like she was infinitely better than everyone else, just since Emma Frost had let her join senior leadership to slight the Three in One. Pyro and Sapphire traded a few preliminary blows, a duel between the forces of fire and ice.

Billy Joel's Uptown Girl faded out as the song rocked to its conclusion. The sweet, sweet tones of Take On Me by A-ha came blaring out of the radio next. Waverley must have adjusted it to an 80's station!

A switch went off in Polaris' mind as a robotic head bit her. She had bipolar depression, causing her move to ebb and flow between intense manic highs and somber mercurial lows. Most likely, her powers of magnetism only made the symptoms worse. Her eyes gleamed with malice as she grabbed Mr. Jaws with her hand and yanked him off of her. There were large indentations in the metal where she gripped him and Polaris flung Mr. Jaws across the street, the robotic head slamming into the outer wall of the auditorium Dr. Hansen's talk had been in. "Only humans get societies then? Mutants just have to settle for being hunted and feared?" Polaris asked the purple haired girl, pity in her voice. "Mutants are never going to get a chance at life unless we have our own place. Can you imagine a mutant culture? Mutant authors, poets, writers? Sure, we have Dazzler, but can you seriously name any others? What about mutant philosophers and scientists? Would you have told African Americans to remain enslaved to their captors to avoid war and violence? I bet not. So why the fuck should mutants do that? Why shouldn't we evolve?"

The hypocrisy of the purple haired girl was astonishing, as she ran Pyro over with a car. A car. "You know what cars are made out of, right?" Polaris asked. She extended her hand and the car floated up ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, no, one hundred feet in the air before hovering. Unnatural green waves of energy surrounded it, showing the magnetism Polaris was manipulated. The green haired mutant then focused on the metal she wore on her body and used it to boost herself up into the air, until Polaris was hovering inches away from the trapped Waverley. "Not everyone in the Hellfire Club is good. But we're the only ones that are going to give mutantkind a chance. The only ones who give a shit. All those mutants the Underground 'saves', they end up dead or killed. You just buy them time. I know... because I was one of the first leaders of the Underground. It's broken. And there's no sense in fixing it."

Polaris held out a hand to Waverley. "You belong with your fellow mutants on Genosha."

Back down on the ground, Veil's heart was thundering furiously in her chest. She couldn't see what was going on up there between Feedback and Polaris. If Polaris stopped manipulating the car, then Feedback would plummet and die. She was at the mercy of a madwoman. Tears filled in Veil's eyes. They had just lost Cayden and now, now it looked like Feedback was going to perish too... and it was all her fault. Pyro was unconscious, thanks to Sapphire hitting him and then Waverley running him over.

"Pl-plan," Veil whispered. "We need a plan." Her mind was blanking though, like a computer asked to do too many procedures and crashing in defiance. None of the buildings nearby were tall enough for them to reach Polaris and Feedback. She didn't think any of them would be able to get that high up and even if they did, Polaris could easily fling Feedback and kill her. "Does someone have an idea on how to get to Feedback and extract her?"

"What? It's Polaris, she's fine!" Havok insisted, clearly in denial. "Lorna wouldn't hurt her. She's good. Veil - you know this, you know her, she's probably a double agent or something for Xavier, he loves spy films way too much... Feedback isn't in any danger." Havok's words didn't sound convincing even to himself. It was a shame no one there could fly.

Sunshine & Casper

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic - Outside (Back Entrance)
Skills: Mediumship
Magik was regretting throwing the otoscope at Spark Plug, as she was now left without a weapon. Her mind had cleared slightly with Spark Plug's tampering, enough to get Magik to realize Spark Plug wasn't Catherine the Great. She was muttering choice words under her breath in Russian, no doubt plotting to sneak into Spark Plug's room in the middle of the night and cut her throat for her country.

Had Sunshine been a bit more conscious and aware, she likely would have told Jack to just hand the gun to her. Aiming wasn't hard - she never missed her mark, as long as it was close enough. That was the only real situation where her aim wasn't enough - if her arrow could only go 200 yards, she couldn't hit something 400 yards away for instance. But unfortunately with the massive blow to her head she had taken, even Max's shoddy healing job wasn't enough for Sunshine to be able to insult Jack over his pathetic skills with a gun. It was only with the second round of healing that he did that the grogginess faded and she was finally aware of an intense pounding pain in her head. "Touch me again and I'll cut off your fingers and feed them to Fred," Sunshine mumbled. Dead rats had a unique diet.

Casper's mind snapped back to reality - well, as much as could have been expected for him. Between the ghosts and his rather eccentric personality, Casper was a star in a world of squares with round holes. He wasn't even odd in the socially accepted and expected way - an outcast amongst outcasts. "Did I miss something?" Casper asked, seeing a lot of battle weary and injured people. "Guuuys we talked about this, I want to go to the fights, especially since Ben can do his Murder Octopus trick now."

"You were a delirious mess," Ben commented, shaking his head. "And I doubt you could channel a fly at the moment."

Casper's jaw dropped. "My boyfriend is going to defend my honor for that, Ben. I bet James knows how to smack a ghost. Or maybe he'll just glare at you for me, since you know, I'm the damsel in distress here. Except Disney wishes that Elsa could pull off looks like me. Though I do wish I had the power to make clothes from ice which I project from my friends... Do you think Sapphire could do that? Maybe I should ask her to make me a cape so I can go swoosh dramatically with it?"

"And my symptoms have not gotten worse Jackie!" Casper complained.

"So I take it you're keeping that gun then, Marshmallow Brain?" Sunshine commented, not strong enough to fight her father as he dragged her along. The car was parked out by the front entrance of the clinic in the parking lot - they were in the back, meaning they'd basically just need to walk around outside to the front. Hopefully there weren't any other Purifiers around, since they were all in sorry shape. "You'll shoot your stupid eyes out."

"Hey! No one throws Mr. Jaws around!" Zarina yelled out at Polaris, glaring at the metal manipulator after she threw the robotic head and slammed him into the side of the auditorium. "Mr. Eyeball, maybe I should give you a laser or something, you probably would be great to have in a fight if you were a laser robotic eye. Oooooh that would be sooooo cool maybe I should tinker a bit with your wiring later! That would be awesome!" Zari giggled, clearly once again a bit distracted from what it was that was going on around her.

"01011010 01100001 01110010 01101001 01101110 01100001 00100000 01010010 01100001 01111001 01101110 01101111 01110010 01100100 01100001 01110100 01110100 01101001 01110010 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01100001 01110010 01100101 00100000 01100111 01100101 01110100 01110100 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01100100 01101001 01110011 01110100 01110010 01100001 01100011 01110100 01100101 01100100 00100000 01100001 01100111 01100001 01101001 01101110 00100001." the eyeball beeped in response, to everyone else, the loud beeping would sound like the robotic eye might be scolding her.

"Ugh, sometimes you can be so laaaaaaaaaaaaaame!" she complained, before she looked over at the chaos that was going on around her and the whole Polaris holding the car up in the air like that with Waverly inside of it. "Soooooo... This sucks, but I can't fly, however I do know one thing, and that is falling from that height sucks horrrribly. 10 out of 10 would not recommend, it hurts, a lot, I know, it has happened to me more then once. Mr. Eyeball got any suggestions for how I can get up there?" she said, before she used her powers to call the robotic head back over to her.

"01001110 01101111 00100000 01101001 01100100 01100101 01100001 00100000 01100001 01110100 00100000 01100001 01101100 01101100," the eyeball beeped in response.

Sapphire looked up at Waverly being trapped in that car, and she knew that Polaris could easily knock most anyone out of the sky if they weren't careful, meaning someone would have to pull off a distraction. Glancing over at Veil, she thought for a moment about how bad the idea in her mind was, but she didn't really care. If she could distract Polaris long enough for someone to get Waverly out of that car, then that was a risk she was going to take. She really did not want anyone else to really get hurt today if she couldn't help. "Havok, I know you care about Polaris, but you definitely don't sound convinced. I'm going to go see if I can provide a slight distraction so that someone can get Waverly out of that car hopefully... Just well... Not going to lie this is probably going to end horribly for me. And this also might be the one time you hear me actually joking about potentially killing someone, but don't worry I'm not actually going to do anything like that."

Taking a deep breath, she ran before creating a slide of ice and zipping up it, the slide curled around instead of being a straight shot upwards since that typically was a bad idea. Eventually, she reached the same height as Polaris, though she quite literally was standing on thin ice, as the ice at the top of her slide was fairly thin. "You know... Last time I met you, you probably don't even remember it, was when we were stuck in a world that your sister created. Not sure if Havok told you how exactly that ended, for you anyway," she said, as a javelin of ice appeared in her hand and she pointed it towards her. "Do you want to find out what happened?"

"I'll take that into advisement Rookie, but why would I be leaving you behind to get the hell out of there? Nope, that was not going to happen anytime soon," he said to Sunshine with her few arguments regarding what was going on around them. He heard his brother making comments about wanting to go off into a fight already and whatnot caused Jack to roll his eyes at his older brother, "Casper, you probably wouldn't have been much help, the situation was dealt with when Doctor Chan decided that the hallway right on top of Purifiers was the best place to park a car," he said to him with a slight laugh as he remembered the surprise at the doctor driving through the wall.

Looking at Sunshine, he heard her words about the gun and he rolled his eyes slightly. "Was actually thinking about keeping a hold on it for now. Also I would not shoot out my eye. The bullet would probably bounce off my eye and out of my head. So thanks so much for the vote of confidence, you are so nice to me aren't you," he said, shaking his head at her, before looking over at the others, and following the group out the back to get hopefully the hell out of the area before more Purifiers showed up. He was feeling better then he had earlier, but still not a hundred percent at all. Stupid M-Pox, he really needed to get rid of it or something, since he hated being sick in anyway.

Maximillian Gray

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic > Outside
Skills: ConjurationNew Outfit

Max's hair was covered in the dusty residue left behind from the car crash. Turning his golden blonde hair into an ashy grey/white mess. Most of the splotches on his skin were covered by the same substance making him seem relatively healthy with the exception of the headache that came in waves and was unfortunately brought back by the sound of the car crash. It was clear to him that he needed to do some explaining to both James and Glimpse. Although he was unsure of how exactly he would explain this to them without it potentially going over their heads. He could hear the irritation in James voice as he told him it was going well, feeling a hint of the other James for a moment before he proceeded forward.

"Its a bit difficult to explain. It's like there was another nerdy voice in my head going 'duh! Conjuration? Thats like the basis of healing magic.' I couldn't believe I had forgotten something so basic. All I could think at the moment was how much I wished I could heal like you and... well its not perfect but..." Max lunged forward and gave James a deep hug, a single tear slipping out and wetting the dust on his face. "I don't know how you do this, how you've been doing this for so long and for everyone. I'm so sorry." He pulled himself off of James a sniffled a little bit before he began to walk again and make his way towards the van. "Lets go before more show up."

Echo

Location: George Washington University
Skills: SoundnWave Manipulation, Echolocation

Echos rendition of Uptown Girl was cut short as an immense wave of heat began to overtake the area and he watched as Pyros flames collided with Sapphires frost. The two opposing forces seemingly hitting each other with equal force as they worked around themselves and swirled into an amalgamation of ice and fire creating a brilliant bright light that forced Echo to look away for a second. Just like that the light had vanished and the heat and frost dissipated into the air as the two raged on, neither gaining ground against the other. The Valkyrie kid began speaking to one of her creepy robotic friends, getting way too worked up about the results of Echos first kill.

"Kid, you should really work on your battlefield awareness and focus if you are to become a Valkyrie." He didnt want to encourage her behavior but he needed her to focus if she was to remain alive. The green haired brat through he freakish skull causing Echo to wince a bit and making him fault on what he'd just said to the child. His distraction from the light and battle made him painfully unaware of Waverlys master plan. Having her slip by and get inside the enemies car only to watch her begin to drive towards the flirting pyromaniac. His jaw dropped and face grew a bit gaunt as this was becoming out of hand. He could see the headlines now and how they would drive mutant tension higher than ever and potentially make more mutant friendly clinics less likely to want to help the cause.

Pyros last words however struck a massive nerve. Echos projection was just fine! Whomever this pleb was he knew nothing of the art! Waverly seemed to shut him up nicely and it filled him with mixed emotions. He was torn between not wanting to kill and being sure that this was the pyromaniacs comeuppance. It however almost felt as if this group existed solely to pester him and make their jabs. Who else is there? WHO ELSE IS THERE?! "My my! If Dazzlers the only one you can name then you must be living under a rock!" His voice was haughty and full of rage. "Oh sure! Dazzler this, Dazzler that! Just because I don't hypnotize my audience to feel like they enjoy my music doesn't mean I am any less of a musician than her! I'll have you know I've sold out venues!"

In his tirade he hardly noticed, the car lifting and more importantly the fact that Waverly was still inside. He didn't know what this mutant was capable of and it appeared that he might find out in the worst of ways. Echo turned to face his sister, to see what the plan was. Sure she was the younger of the two twins but she always had a plan, always. But all he saw was pain and distress written all over her face as she blindly grasped at the air for a plan. He knew he needed to step up and deliver as her older sibling. Sapphire came swooping in trying to gather Polaris' attention so that the others may deal with Waverly...somehow seeing as how she was 100 feet in the air. Echo tried hard to think until he recalled his time at Xaviers and the games of hide and seek that he and Veil would play.

"Right. Echo went over towards Veil and calmly placed his hands on her shoulders to offer her some comfort and an anchor to grasp at. "Its time we pushed past our limits here Veil. I'm going yo need you to create an invisible slide from the drivers seat all the way down to you and me, if possible make guard rails for it too so Waverly doesn't fall off the sides. I'll use my echolocation and locate the entry point for your slide then beam a hole into the bottom of the car so she can safely slide down to us. We got this." Echos words were whispered so only she could hear, giving them the advantage of a surprise the enemy couldn't see.

"Listen up! Now isn't the time for defiance or choosing not to follow someone's orders! Prepare to defend yourselves and help Sapphire with the enemy, we stand together." In truth he had no idea what the newbies were all capable of so it was difficult to work them into his plan, but he hoped they could help keep Polaris distracted and Sapphire safe. Veil nodded towards him, trying to create the slide he asked for. She looked uncertain about it trying as she might she failed, unable to get it to work. Panic setting in he quickly looked about to everyone as he attempted to formulate a new plan. "Ok plan B. Can you get me up there on a disk? We can try and lower me and Waves down from there safely." Once again she tried and was able to create a large disk for him. He gently levitate the large distance into the air, about to get ready to cut open the underside of the car when his foot gave out on the smooth surface.

Echo began to plummet down towards the ground, windburn on his cheeks as the air cut them with speed. He had only moments to think as he finally let out a loud belting and sing song scream. It sounded like the intro to 'The Immigrant Song' as his vocals created a power beam of laser that blasted from his core all the way to the street before him. He sustained the notes in order to keep a steady stream of uv energy flowing, and slowing down his fall. He wouldnt die but thisbwas going to hurt a hell of alot. Quickly his clones rushed to his side, holding their hands out in a basket formation as if to catch a falling gymnast. All in hopes to help break his fall and allow him to have his injuries lessened.

Callie Johnson

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic -> Outside

Callie stared a Magik sadly she couldn't understand anything that she was saying, but seeing as Magik was loopy and a bit delirious as well from the M-Pox as well. "The car is out by the front door." Callie said as she limped her way over towards the front of the building, she couldn't see or hear any Purifiers nearby which was either a good or bad thing. Callie then spotted their car looking over at James for a moment and handed her off to him. "Magik's leg looks broken." She told him as Callie limped her way over towards their car while looking around still, so far no Purifiers had taken shots at her yet which was a good thing probably.

Callie leaned on their car for support feeling another wave of dizziness hitting her as she knelt down looking at the car seeing that it was noticeably a lot lower when they left it. Callie closed her eyes a bit and groaned in annoyance to herself seeing that all of the tires were slashed, and looked over at everyone else. "The tires got slashed." Callie said, which was never a good thing at all.

Kristina Smith

Location: Starbucks
Skills: Flight

Kristina turned to look at both Pyro and Echo as the two had some kind of flirting match with each other in the middle of a fight, she rolled her eyes and gagged slightly. She shielded her eyes when Sapphire and Pyro fought each other, as a blinding light happened, Kristina then saw the purple haired girl run over Pyro. Then Polaris, throwing the robotic skull at the auditorium building, before sending the car the purple haired girl was in and flew off high into the air. Veil seemed to have a bit of a hard time trying to come up with a plan to save her. When Echo came up with one that in her opinion didn't really work out well at all when that failed he went with his second idea managing to get up into the air, before falling.

Kristina knew that he'd probably ended up dying if he couldn't catch himself, she jumped into the air to take off, but she couldn't, blushing slightly in embarrassment Kristina eventually got it on her second try. Kristina managed to grab Echo by the collar of his shirt, groaning loudly as she held him up. "Maybe you should spend less time flirting with the fire dude, and maybe ask the people around you what they can do. And not eating as much you are way to fucking heavy." Kristina told him as she managed to get him back down onto the ground and dropped him off, and took off again following behind Sapphire. Kristina tried to open the car door but the magnetic field was way to strong looking over at the two. "I cant open the door." Kristina said towards Sapphire.

"I do not know you. Or any of them. I only am helping cause she got shot by a Purifier. Andy said pointing at Leda. "I hate Purifiers. So that's who I was punching. I don't have a reason to punch these guys, except for they are between me and getting out of here. I don't want to punch you cause you seemed like you were cool during the lecture thing, but I will if you try anything."

Watts looked slightly amused. "You really are just like Belladonna." Andy didn't know who he was talking about, or what he meant by that.

"I don't know who that is." Andy shrugged and left Starbucks. She tried to assess the situation and decide who to punch. It was what she was good at. The dude with the fire had gotten into a sparring match with the lady with the ice. There was a lot that had happened while she had been in Starbucks. She realized as she stepped out she still had the stolen cup of coffee. Andy took a sip.

There was no way she could get up to the flying mutant situation near the car. And the guy with the fire was down. Jamie had strongly impressed in her to not hit someone who was down, so she took another sip of her coffee. There wasn't really anything for her to do. There were a lot of players on the field. Andy considered just walking away from everything. She had coffee. But the Barista's warning stuck with her. Did it count if she had gone out the front?

James Kingston

“The boyfriend needs to know what Ben said to defend your honor, babes. And I recommend you stay away from Sapphire. She’ll probably just freeze you and I prefer you unpopsicled.” James said as he continued to get Casper out fo there. “Ben, I don’t know what you said but you’re probably right if it has anything to do with Casper running into a fight sick.” James sighed and then froze as suddenly Max was… hugging him? He was pleased that Max found a non-destructive application―he made a mental note to practice this new skill Max found on himself before he experimented with it in a high stress situation―but the rest of it just went over his head. James patted Max comfortingly on the back, the awkward situation of supporting Casper and being hugged making much more movement difficult.

“There isn’t anything to apologize for? You haven’t done anything wrong other than charge into a situation you didn’t know anything about while m-pox had a chance of shutting you down.” James grumbled as they reached the car, Callie’s revelation making him groan. Because of course being attacked while a bunch of them were sick and falling apart wasn’t enough. He looked around the parking lot for another option, honing in on the mechanical monstrosity that was the senior van. It was big enough for everyone and if someone could get into it, James could bypass the safety circuits and get it running even if it was a modern model.

“Let’s grab that van then. If someone can break into it, I can get it running.” James said, pointing out the van and pulling out the keys to their current one. “And if anyone is willing to grab anything from the one we came in on so they can’t link us back, that’d be a lot of help.”

Luna Braddock - Glimpse

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic ---> Outside Clinic -- Washington D.C.
Skills: Telepathy;

Luna listened to Max a bit, trying to ignore the pounding headache she had. It seemed his voice was only irritating her and she couldn’t quite wrap her head around his statement. As simple as it was. She watched Max rush James and raised an eyebrow at James, fighting off a smirk. She followed Spark Plug out towards the van and crossed her arms. ”Bloody brilliant,” she muttered.
She looked over at the other van as James pointed it out and headed over to see what was what. She tried all the doors just to find them locked. She started looking around the parking lot for any sort of blunt instrument, fighting off the fatigue but the headache was making its presence very known. Now she really wanted to smash a window just to release some frustration and anger that she had from getting this bloody disease.
Luna grinned, wincing at the twinge in her head and walked over to pick up the crowbar she spotted. She weighed it with her hands for a moment before she gripped it with both hands and walked to the passenger side window, smiling the entire time. She was definitely going to enjoy smashing this window. She sized up the window, took her stance and then leaned forward, smashing the glass to bits. A few shards went astray and cut her face but Luna didn’t even care in the least. She kept the crowbar in her hand, wiping stray glass away with it so she could unlock the van door and open it.
She walked around the van, resting the crowbar on her shoulder and gestured with her free hand. ”Your chariot awaits,” she said, her British accent thick for a moment. She looked a little manic with the cut on her face, hair a mess and face covered with debris from dust of Dr. Chan driving through the clinic wall. Not to mention the exhaustion was near making her delirious and the headache was not going away.
Luna took a breath and shut her eyes, reaching out with her mind to locate any Purifiers in their area that may be alive and on the hunt but she didn’t find any. ”I believe we are in the clear. At least from Purifiers,” she told the group. She leaned heavily against the van for a moment, another wave of fatigue overcoming her. Perhaps she pushed herself a bit too much but it had felt good to smash that window.

Waverley Watts - Feedback

Location: George Washington University
Skills: Perception, Pop Culture (failed)

"Uh...shitty plastic and cheap metal?" Waverley answered, not understanding the rhetorical nature of Polaris' question or why she was asking it. To be perfectly honest, it annoyed her to no end when the well-groomed white girl tried to use black history against her, but she did her best to keep it from showing. The women seemed plenty confident in her ability to take them all on alone, and confidence that strong is rarely unfounded. Not to mention that the woman's attitude had become less aggressive, and Waverley didn't want to risk changing that. A look of confusion fixed itself on her face as she tried to puzzle out the why Polaris had decided to interrupt the fight with a trivia question about cars, though that question immediately left her mind when she opened the car door to find that it was a good thirty feet off the ground and was rising fast.

She let out a screech as she quickly slammed the door shut, grabbing onto the steering wheel for dear life. As the car rose, getting farther and farther from the streets, where cars were supposed to be, she could feel the familiar feeling of her heart banging against her ribcage. Her head whirled panicking from window to window, looking for some sort of help. Unfortunately the help that appeared first was her enemy, floating before her with an outstretched hand. Waverley stared at it, before looking down to the ground. She saw a number of her allies trying and failing to get to her, and it caused her heart to beat all the faster. This was a decision she'd have to make alone. She looked back to Polaris, and gulped.

"If the Underground is a band-aid, your little society is a DIY amputation," she yelled at Polaris. There was passion in her voice, though it was overshadowed by fear. If she were being honest with herself, the primary reason she was talking was to stall, in hopes that a third option would arrive. "You're leaving our people behind to rot! Running away won't stop mutant kids from being born and killed here in America!" As she spoke, she could feel the panic building up inside her. If she didn't get herself out of the car fast, she knew it wouldn't be long before she cracked and took her enemy's help. So, hands shaking, she opened up her door, shifting her feet out to the very edge. She dug her nails into the top of the car, her body jutting out, staring down as she tried to gather her courage.

"There's no fast-acting antidote for bigotry. Believe me, I wish there was. I wish we could buy California and ship all the mutants to go chill in fucking Yosemite, but that's not how we save our people. The real way to get equality is by standing our ground, and making sure we're heard. And I agree, the Underground could be doing so much more. But it's got good people, a good heart, and good intentions as its foundation. That's all you need to change the world. And if what you say is true, if you really did lead the Underground, then at one point you knew that too." Waverley nervously chewed on her lip as her gaze shifted back downward. If she threw herself just right, she could probably get close enough to the flying girl to grab on. Still, even as she planned, she was on the verge of a breakdown. She sent a silent prayer for protection upward. "I-I'm gonna jump now. I'm gonna jump because I'm a gullible idiot who still believes in God, goodness, and the power of fucking friendship motherfucker!" she cried out, unclamping her fingers and letting her weight pull her forward. Her plan to aim for Kristina was promptly squashed, for as soon as Waverley let go of the car, she clamped her eyes close in absolute panic. There were no coherent thoughts going through her head, only pure, unadulterated fear. She screamed at the top of her lungs as she plummeted towards the world below.

George Washington University: Way Up in the Sky...

Polaris narrowed her eyes at Sapphire. "You're the girl in love with my boyfriend - Sapphire, right?" she questioned. "I'll deal with you in a minute." She turned her attention to Waverley, listening to what she had to say patiently. As much as Polaris visibly looked like a villain at the moment, she hadn't actually made a move to attack her. She sighed like a disappointed teacher at Waverley's childish ideals, as well as her supposed flaws in the system that the Hellfire Club already had plans in store for. Her eyes widened a bit as Waverley then jumped from the car.

Kristina flew after Waverley, but she got the timings wrong and couldn't catch Waverley, their fingers just barely grazing each other as Waverley continued her rapid descent towards the Earth. Sapphire made a quick and rickety ice slide for Waverley. Waverley hit the slide badly, on her right arm to be exact, breaking her arm on impact - yet otherwise, it was a success, the slide bringing her down to solid ground.

"Right, anyways, like I was saying... HOW FUCKING DARE YOU SLEEP WITH MY GODDAMN BOYFRIEND, YOU BITCH!" she yelled. There wasn't anyone in the car to worry about keeping alive, so Polaris swung the car like a bat at Sapphire. She missed on the first pass but continued on through, before knocking the Disney Princess lookalike off of the narrow ice platform and sending Sapphire plummeting down to the Earth. Polaris let Sapphire fall, ripping the car in half down the middle so that way she essentially had two really big sticks - and then the Mistress of Magnetism flew down in pursuit.

Veil

Location: George Washington University: the Street
Skills: Invisible Energy Manipulation
Veil's heart was a thunderstorm of pure nervous energy. She had tried to do something new to help Echo get on up there to Feedback, but it had almost killed her brother in the process, if Supergirl hadn't been there she would have had to plan a funeral. Feedback had almost died from falling from the sky as well, but it looked like Sapphire had saved her with an ice ramp. Cayden had already died - so much had happened she hadn't even been able to properly process that. Her heart could hardly take it as she saw her best friend falling now, with Polaris in pursuit.

"This isn't Lorna - it's Mesmero or Mastermind or someone!" Havok begged.

"Havok, get your shit together or go take cover," Veil snapped at him. She didn't mean to sound so aggressive with it - she knew he was going through a lot, but Sapphire was falling from dozens of feet up in the air and they didn't have time to theorize about who was responsible for Polaris' behavior.

Veil took a deep breath and backed up a couple of paces. She then took off at a sprint, jumping onto a force field platform she had made. She launched herself up from platform to platform, steadily climbing in height. One bad jump however and she would be yet another mutant in need of saving from gravity. She was gaining height quickly and she reached her hands out, hoping Sapphire could grab on and she could get them down together.

The ground shook however as their bad luck increased - two sentinels that were like mini skyscrapers, each of them easily 50 feet tall. On their shoulders were an American flag emblem and the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo, identifying them as official government property. Waverley had been right earlier - more qualified backup was on the way.

"STAND DOWN OR WE WILL USE DEADLY FORCE!" a voice boomed, amplified from the sentinels. "YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR DESTRUCTION OF PUBLIC PROPERTY, CAUSING TERROR AND UNREST, AND USE OF DANGEROUS FORCE!"

Sunshine & Casper

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic - Parking Lot
Skills: Mediumship
In their midst was an intangible and unseeable omen - a being without a soul. He might have easily been mistaken as Ares by the Greeks, his face dripping with red and horns curling up out of his hair. His great axe dwarfed Max. Magik stared directly at Lord Belasco of the Corrupted, Master of Worlds Within Worlds.

"It's time, Darkchylde." His voice was like a symphony of nails on a chalkboard in the midst of a Black Mass, like the bones of a murdered child being ground in a blender.

"Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!" Casper screamed, starting to hyperventilate. His sixth sense was telling him that the specter in front of them wasn't actually a ghost. It was something dark and malevolent, creating an unnatural heat. The snow all around them was melting rapidly, as if the water molecules were attempting to escape. "C-Can anyone else see this Darth Maul rip off? I'm going to pass out. I'm going to die. Damn it why did I go sober I need drugs this is way too much!" Casper rambled. He was shaking visibly, likely from fear, and he couldn't help but cry as well. He was lucky he hadn't wet his pants.

Magik's body fell to the ground, succumbing to the ravages of M-Pox. Her spirit remained there, with glowing eyes, a twisted tail, and horns. The ghost of Magik turned to Casper. "Tell Piotr this is forever." Casper couldn't help himself this time as Belasco and Magik melted away, a pentagram burned into the ground where Magik's body had fallen - one that everyone could see. He peed his pants out of fear and terror - and partially because he hadn't gone to the bathroom before they left for the clinic. "O-o-o-oh god," Casper wailed, stumbling into the van and falling to the ground on the pavement.

"Magik!!!" Sunshine screamed - no, it was more like the dying roar of a lion, desperate, afraid, and alone. She rushed over to Magik and knelt down next to her, cradling her body in her arms. She was already crying as she rocked Magik back and forth, pleading with her to stop this game, that it wasn't a funny trick and she really couldn't keep on pretending to die, three times was already three too many. She put her hands on Illyana's face and tried to do something she never had done before - to heal her, rather than give her a disease, but nothing happened. Sunshine hardly registered as James came over and tried to revive Illyana.

"This is forever," Capser mumbled. "Th-that's what she said... Sh-sh-she had horns and a-a tail and th-this scary guy with w-w-w-way too much red body paint on, like some sort of Kool-Aid Man mega fan, he t-t-took her!"

"LIAR!!!!" Sunshine screeched. She couldn't feel her hands, she was barely aware as she kept on brushing the hair from Magik's face. She didn't know how to perform CPR, but Sunshine shoved James out of the way and tried to do mouth to mouth. Nothing worked. Nothing could make Illyana's heart start beating. Sunshine's first love had died. "Apollo, save her, please," Sunshine begged, looking up at the sky. "Thanatos, take me with her!!!"

Not even her gods listened.

Magik was right.

This was forever.

To say that she expected Polaris to get pissed off at her and probably attack her was a bit of an understatement. Her relationship with Polaris was horrid, last time she actually encountered the woman she had thrown a javelin through her heart. It had been an accident, she hadn't meant to aim that high, but at least Polaris likely didn't remember it. However she was almost positive that Havok likely told her about it. Which definitely made this entire situation weird, and a bit awkward. "Okay I find that assumption insulting!" she managed to say towards Polaris, before she got hit by a car.

That was a fun experience, she had a bunch of bruises and such from the actual being hit thing, and then there was the whole she was now falling from the sky thing. Sapphire could see Veil racing along on her invisible platforms, but she knew that odds were if she grabbed her arm the momentum would cause Veil to fall too, and that was something she didn't want to do. Someone grabbed her arm and she felt it jolt and pop out of it's socket as her arm was dislocated. "Let go!" she said towards Kristina, before she slipped her arm out of her grasp and went straight down to the ground, before she created a slide that caused her to land safely on the ground.

"Huh, I think my parents work for SHIELD," Zari mused, seeing the logo on the robot as the two popped up. Tilting her head to the side, she looked at one of the two robots and took control of it rather easily. "...Now let's see if we can get him to attack the other one..." she muttered, before trying to see about having the other robot attack it's buddy there. Then what happened next was more then a bit of a surprise. She had instead managed to make one of the robots explode. "Uh oh... Didn't mean to do that..." she muttered under her breath.

"01001110 01101111 01110111 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 00100111 01110110 01100101 00100000 01100100 01101111 01101110 01100101 00100000 01101001 01110100 00100000 01011010 01100001 01110010 01101001," Mr. Eyeball beeped at her.

"Shut up! You aren't being nice!" she snapped at the robot that was bobbing up and down, turning her head to look at the other robot. Using her powers once again, she managed to get a hold of it's systems and control the other one. "Maybe I can see about not blowing this one up..." she commented before she instead started making the robot more or less dance, causing it to twirl around a little bit. Zari was giggling like crazy regarding the whole situation and seeing a giant robot sitting there dancing around.

Jack wasn't too sure what all was going on, but what he did know was that their tires were slashed and they were really needing to get out of there. At least someone decided to see about breaking into a van, though he wasn't too sure this was actually a good idea since in theory the van could probably be tracked once it's listed as missing. That was just a fact, meaning they'd have to ditch the van fairly quickly. "So, any bright ideas aside from get into the van and take off running? Since we can't lead them back to the Underground," he said with a shrug towards the others, before he noticed what was going on with Magik, and his brother freaking out.

Magik had succumbed to the disease it seemed like, but based on what Casper said he was seeing, he figured this likely was not a typical person dying thing. Not to mention the pentagram that appeared on the ground, "...What the?" he managed to say, before his attention turned towards Sunshine as she seemingly started calling out to anyone who would listen to bring her back, but death wasn't exactly something you could reverse. "Sunshine, we need to get out of here..." he said towards her, though one thing was for certain. He really did not want to explain to Colossus what had happened to his sister.

Location: In front of Starbucks -> Getting the heck out of there
Skills: Deception, Perception, Street smarts

A lot was happening. A girl jumped from the flying car. There were a lot of people in the air and Andy couldn't help or hurt any of them. That was all the action that was happening too, it was all up in the air. That was until Sentinels appeared.

With the appearance of the Sentinels, Andy decided it was time to get the heck out of there. She was technically not going out the back of the Starbucks, which is what the barista had told her would lead to certain death. She wasn't even convinced that the lady who she had been told to go with was going to survive.

The Sentinels, if they caught Andy, would take her to a few possible places, and none of them were places she wanted to go. Best case she'd end up back in the system and off to yet another foster home. Worst case she'd be in Super-Max. Neither option was something she wanted. She hated, and honestly feared, being put into another foster home more than anything else.

As cool as it was that the girl with the green hair had apparently taken control over the Sentinels and it was funny to watch one of them dance, Andy didn't dare risk sticking around. She sipped her coffee trying to look like a confused patron of Starbucks that just got caught up in the chaos and started walking around the edge of the chaos to an alley she saw. It looked safe, and that was good enough for her. She had gotten too involved in a bunch of strangers business. The offer of a warm bed wasn't enough to keep her around.

Callie Johnson

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic -> Outside
Skills: N/A

Callie stood up from where she had been they couldn't drive anymore at all with it, but luckily there was a van nearby that they could steal a ride from. "I can make a fog around the area where we drop off the van, probably a few blocks away from the actual Underground and we can make it on foot from there, or I can make a sudden blizzard to or something along those lines." Callie said towards Jack that was about the closest thing that they could do to make a getaway, that or really bad snowy conditions as well. She said as she noticed that the snow around them started to melt, and Casper starting to freak out over something. Callie felt another wave of dizziness hit her as well, leaning herself up against the side of their car for a moment.

Then Callie watch someone fall to the ground in the corner of her eye. Seeing that it was Magik, and quickly went over towards her seeing that Magik wasn't breathing at all, she bit her bottom lip looking over at James as he tried to bring her back. This was out of her area of expertise she wasn't a healer like Sapphire or James were. Callie gently rested a hand over Sunshine seeing the girl suddenly breaking down over her, she noticed a pentagram suddenly appearing around the floor where Magik's body was which was really weird to actually see as well in person. "Sunshine it's not safe here and we need to go now." Callie said as she tried to get Sunshine to get up, hoping that she would come with her she looked at James hoping he'd get Magik's body.

Kristina Smith

Location: Starbucks
Skills: Flight

People really needed to stop flying up into the sky seriously it was really getting annoying after failing to save Waverly from going splat onto the ground. Luckily Sapphire was able to make an ice slide that made her land safely onto the ground, she noticed that Sapphire was falling now as well and went to save her. Hearing something pop as Kristina groaned a little bit at the sudden weight change, and then Sapphire demanding to let her go, which she let her do. Watching Sapphire landing onto the ground safely Kris landed onto the ground as well looking at everyone. "You all really need to try staying on the ground." Kristina said shaking her head slightly when she felt the ground shaking slightly.

Kristina noticed two large Sentinels coming in staring at them they were really tall, as her eyes turned to their shoulders seeing the American Flag along with the SHIELD emblem as well. Ordering them all to stand down, Kris wasn't sure if there were more SHIELD agents in the area now or not other than the two massive robots when one of them suddenly exploded. While the other one started to move wildly around and danced, she quickly went over to Zari. "Stop, they might send in more." Kristina said, as much as she didn't want to get into trouble with them.

Maximillian Gray

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic > Outside
Skills: ConjurationNew Outfit

Max felt himself lose a bit of hope as they walked out and Callie let them know of the slashed tired. Ofcourse the only other option that was laid out for them was literally stealing from the elderly. This wasn't a good look on mutants and it wasn't a good look in general. Max looked about nervously hoping there weren't anymore purifiers as he watched Glimpse make her way to the van and just smash in the windows. This wasnt right, they needed to find another way. [Ai]He[/i] needed to find another way. His attention was grabbed by Casper repeatedly shouting Holy Shit over and over again as Max turned to see the life draining out of Magik. James rushed to her side and tried to do his best to heal her, but nothing seemed to be working. Even Sunshine began to pray to Greek gods in a futile attempt to save her life. Max knew she meant something to the little disease bag, and his heart broke to see her lose something more.

Max immediately began to study the Pentagram for any strange markings, runes, letters, or symbols. Anything to give a hint of who it was that Casper was rambling on about. What Max would give to see what Casper could. He let out a sharp breath at his frustration. Finding nothing but a basic shape and no real lead besides what information Casper had given them. "We need to go. Now. Te itrepa latrop ni silucinuc sienarretbus." Max closed his ring and pinky fingers on each hand, keeping his pointer, middle, and thumb straight out as he crossed his hands over his chest, slowly pulling them apart before one swung over his head and the other swung down by his waist to form a circle. There were trails of energy that followed the motion, opening a portal that led into the Mutant Underground. "Go now. I dont know how long i can maintain this and I'd rather not find out." He would see to summoning the creature later in an attempt to bargain for Magiks soul.

Echo

Location: George Washington University
Skills: SoundnWave Manipulation, Laser

As Echo went hurdling down towards the ground, he did all he could to slow his descent. Suddenly there was a tug on his shirt and he looked up to see one of the new girls was flying and saving his skin. Or at least thats what any normal person would have seen. All Echo could focus on was how much his fabric was being stretched and hoping her nails weren't about to rip holes in it. Ehos mind raced with how he would be able to get the fabric back to its normal state, seeing as he doubted there was any fabric softener back at the Underground. He would have to add that to the list. His mind was quickly pulled back as his saviour was so rude as to call him fat. Fat of all things! She dropped him off and flew back up before he could even say a word. Watching as Waverly now plummeted and seeing his Kristina barely missed her.

His heart was pumping in his chest as she kept falling, all he could do was try to coach her and hope she understood. "Feedback I'm gonna need you to try and scream!" Ofcourse she did just that, screaming but with no actual power behind it as he realised he wasn't as specific as he had hoped. Luckily Sapphire was there to catch her and let her down gently via slide. Today was clearly a day for a rollercoaster of emotions and it was doing some serious aging to the mutant singer. Echo bent forward, hands on his knees as he exhaled and tried to get his heart rate down. Ofcourse the fates weren't kind and Sapphire was the next in a line of people to fall from the sky, seriously they should never do this again. "Hey super girl! I am not fat youre just weak! I'll have you know I eat a very healthy diet! Now does anyone else have secret powers they'd like to share?"

Echo made his way over to Waverly, laying a gentle hand on her shoulder as he used his thumb to massage and console her. "That was real brave kid. Stupid. But brave. We should work together, I think you've got the lungs to be a great addition to the band. But first, let's take down Magneto Jr over there." The sentinels that arrived were surely going to be some form of an issue, that is until one exploded and the other began to dance. He was fully sure as to what exactly the green child was doing but it seemed to do something. Enough to keep them out of combat for now. Echo held his finger to his ear and let out a quick belt. Using the soundwaves to create a flash of light that was non existent. He gave a nervous chuckle before he sent out a long note and was able to catch them and create two beams. One missing horribly and the other hitting her but barely making a difference. "Ok. Bad example. But Feedback, your voice is your greatest weapon. Dig deep inside of you and let your heart out. Just as I used my lasers to slow my fall you can use your voice to try and block incoming attacks like how you blasted the Pyromaniac and Magneto Jr earlier."

James Kingston

Location: Outside of Clinic -> Mutant Underground
Skills: Healing Factor

Casper was screaming. Why was Casper screaming? James was tired and worn out and frankly, the words coming out of his boyfriends mouth went so far over his head this time that he didn’t even bother trying to piece it together. James turned to comfort him, anything to calm him down, when he heard the thump. He half turned and froze when he saw Magik’s body crumpled on the ground. Images of Luna flooded his mind: on the floor of the lab, blood seeping through her clothes, her final request ringing in his head, the frigid, emptiness of inevitability clawing at his chest. It was a familiar terror, something he’d never shake off, something he’d come to own in another life. Something about it here and now grounded him. It was a catharsis of all the worrying and panicking from the past week as the disease spread through the Underground and he could finally do something. Maybe bringing someone back from the brink would actually fix it.

So James lept into action, ignoring the sting of parking lot concrete on his knees as he pressed his hands to Magik and seeping his power into her body. He waited for the sync, waited for the usual pounding in his ears, and everything else that came with the satisfaction of bringing someone from broken to whole.

It wasn’t like that at all.

His blood felt sluggish, slow, still. His heart all but stopped. The all consuming emptiness that he’d pried Luna from came back viciously and it hooked him, sinking razor claws into his own chest and dragged him further and further and further, his breath caught in his throat, his lungs screaming for air, every fiber of his being revolting against it, but he couldn’t escape, he couldn’t breath, he couldn't see, he couldn’t find Magik anywhere. She was gone and her was going to disappear with―

James snapped out of it as Sunshine shoved him aside. He gulped down air as fast he could as he backpedaled away from Magik, twisting so he was on his hands and knees as he vomited. He’d never felt someone go so fast, with so much certainty, and almost take him with it. He thought he had been afraid before. He had no idea how easy it would be to just… disappear. He’d almost lost himself in someone else’s death and he would have been powerless to stop it. Something inside him curled up tighter as James pushed himself unsteadily to his feet, picking up the medicine where he’d dropped it. That was enough thinking for one day.

“Come on babes, let’s get you up.” He said quietly to Casper as he went to him, coaxing him up off the ground and into his arms. The various bodily fluids covering Casper really left a foul stench wafting off him and James definitely knew the first thing that was happening was a shower. “Yeah, Max’s right. We gotta go. Let Sunshine bring Magik home guys. We can bury her once we get everyone checked out.” James said as he looked at the scene. Something in the back of his mind took a snapshot of the moment: Sunshine screaming at anyone who would listen hunched over Magik’s corpse. An involuntary uptick of his lips and the thought was gone, leaving James leading Casper through the portal as he whispered reassurances in his boyfriend’s ear.

Luna Braddock - Glimpse

Location: Outside Clinic -- Washington D.C.
Skills:

A wave of nausea and dizziness overcame Luna suddenly and she groaned a little as her throat seemed to tighten. Here we go again, she thought miserably to herself. Sunshine suddenly started to yell and Luna looked over to see Magik fall, a strange symbol that looked to be a pentagram scorching itself into the ground where she once stood. Luna frowned but didn’t move, trying to focus on the difficult act of breathing and not throwing up.
She watched James rush over and try to save Magik and then watched him nearly lose himself and get pushed away by Sunshine. Part of her wanted to see what James was going through but she knew he didn’t like that. Still, Luna felt James would need someone to talk to without needing to talk. But of course, he did have Casper. Although, he wasn’t looking all that hot at the moment either.
Finally, Luna lost her battle to the nausea and leaned over the front of the van, vomiting what little she had left in her stomach. She wiped her mouth off with her shirt and when she looked back there was a strange void there, kind of like Blink’s portals. It was a portal, one Max seemed to be controlling. Luna shook her head but stopped as it only aggravated her dizziness.
She stumbled forward and towards the portal, ready to go and collapse on the floor or on her bed.

Waverley Watts - Feedback

Location: George Washington University
Skills: Radio Wave Manipulation, Sound Wave Manipulation

The world was a spinning blur of colors, wind, and trauma for Waverley as she sped towards the ground. Despite not registering Echo's suggestion in her mind, she didn't stop screaming for even a second during her descent, though it was more out of panic than strategy. The first half of the trip, the small part of Waverley's brain that was still spitting out semi-coherent thoughts had been hopeful. Catching a human being couldn't be that hard, could it? But when she felt the flying girl's fingers graze her body, that hope was immediately replaced by the screeching fear that filled the rest of her brain. At that moment, she fully expected the icy embrace of death.

Instead what she found was the icy embrace of...ice? The landing wasn't pleasant; the weight of her entire body landed on top of her dominant arm hard enough for it to snap. The quick shriek it caused put an end to her chorus of screams, lowering them instead to a series of whimpers that rang out as she half-slid, half-rolled down the slide. Eventually, she found herself on warm, solid ground. It took her body a moment recalibrate itself after her less-than-graceful fall, but when it eventually did, she shakily pushed herself to her feet. The moment her mangled arm was off the ground, she winced, sucking in a deep breath of air.

She quickly grabbed onto it with her good arm, and held it tightly to her chest. It was painful even then, but at least it was manageable. She took a moment to gain her bearings, and when she did, she was surprised to find two sentinels standing before them. She readied herself to see if they were remote control, when one exploded and the other began to do a little robotic jig. Her eyes flitted over to the green-haired girl who was giggling with the excitement of a kid who'd just gotten away with a prank, and her immediate assumption was that she'd had something to do with it. She didn't know of anyone else who'd be capable of it. Still, perhaps in an attempt to calm herself down, she let her watery eyes close and her short shaky breaths morph into longer shaky breaths, going into the pseudo-meditative state she often went into when using her ability. As she reached out her mind, she attempted to feel for any connections the sentinel might've had, only to find that it was already fully controlled by Zarina.

Waverley's eyes snapped open when she felt a touch on her shoulder, but when she looked, she saw it was Echo rather than anyone with malicious intent and relaxed. Her head dropped a little when he simultaneously praised and scolded her, but she gave a small nod in agreement. It confused her for a second when he mentioned a band, but her mind quickly caught up with her, remembering the little performances Echo and his clones did in order to attack. Her eyebrows furrowed as she raised her eyes to look at him, then the villain who was on her way down, wielding two halves of a car. He was asking a lot, and Waverley wasn't sure if she could deliver.

"I-I can try..." Waverley mumbled, unsure. Part of her was certain that she wouldn't be able to keep up a scream for long, so instead, she formed her lips into a circle and began to whistle. She could feel the waves passing her lips and through the air all around her. She watched Polaris, waiting for the woman's attacks, ready to attempt to counteract them when the moment arrived.

George Washington University: Alleyway...

From the alleyway, Andy could see the back door of the Starbucks. There was a window AC unit from the second story on the ground, smashed to pieces. Maybe Morgan the barista was right - if Andy had gone out the back, she would have died. The AC unit certainly looked hefty enough for it. But as unnerving as that was, the way was clear for her to move forward and get on with her life, to leave these people behind and focus on herself...

That was, of course, until half a car FELL OUT OF THE SKY AND LANDED RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER! Had Andy taken another inch forward, she would have been toast. Maybe someone was trying to tell her something.

Veil

Location: George Washington University: the Street
Skills:
"You know what I find insulting?" Polaris growled at Sapphire. "THAT APPARENTLY YOU'RE WORSE AT MONOGAMY THAN JEAN FUCKING GREY!" Veil gulped slightly, aware that Polaris was completely pissed and unhinged in this moment. She wasn't thinking clearly - and rather than being angry with Havok for cheating on her, she was taking out her fury on Sapphire. It didn't help that Polaris had mental health issues and her symptoms were flaring up at the moment. Polaris was choosing to give into them as well - to become the spitting image of her infamous father.

Polaris tossed one piece of the car at Sapphire, only for Feedback's super whistle to deflect it and send the piece of junk crashing into a nearby alleyway. The Mistress of Magnetism was about ten feet above the ground now. She was ignoring everyone, even those who were attacking her, as she threw the other half of the car at Sapphire.

"Lorna, stop, she means nothing to me!" Havok pleaded. He shimmied his hips and sent off a blast of energy at the car, knocking it off course.

Veil used her force fields to catch the remnants just in time, as they had been about to go through the front entrance of the Starbucks where innocent bystanders - and Leda and Watts - were hiding out. The sentinels were handled and Veil bit her lip, doing the mental calculus. The more time they spent here fighting Polaris, the sooner that actual S.H.I.E.L.D. agents would show up gunning for them. They had already lost Moonwalker today. She couldn't accept losing anyone else. They were lucky that Feedback and Sapphire hadn't died. "Polaris, this isn't you - you're a good person, you help people," Veil reasoned, trying to get her old friend to snap out of it.

Polaris didn't seem to hear them. She ripped up metal from all around her, bits of streetlights floating in the air like a deadly haze of weaponry. The ground shook as another Sentinel approached and Polaris narrowed her eyes. She focused her efforts on the Sentinel, trying to make it budge so she could throw it at Sapphire and take care of two birds with one stone, but it resisted her. It must not have been made out of metal, she realized, her eyes widening.

"This is why we can't have nice things," Veil muttered under her breath, seeing that they had another challenger added into the fray. They still had a chance to escape imprisonment in the Raft if they cut their losses and ran, but Polaris wasn't allowing them to do that. She wasn't giving up her assault on Sapphire. "Polaris, if we keep on fighting each other, we'll all be thrown in a Mutant Super-Max!" Veil pointed out. "You have to stop this!"

"I'm done running." Polaris sent her metal shards flying at the newly arrived Sentinel, aiming for its critical joints. Just because it wasn't made out of metal didn't mean she couldn't hurt it. She was as methodical as a surgeon and as ruthless as a butcher. The Sentinel collapsed where it stood and Polaris flew over to it via her powers of magnetism to pay a personal visit to its human pilot. She was out for blood.

Sunshine & Casper

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic - Parking Lot -> Mutant Underground: Entranceway
Skills: Mediumship
Sunshine barely heard her father as he told her they needed to get out of there, that they needed to leave. The sound of tires screeching against the pavement nearby could have signaled cops or Purifiers, although there wasn't really much of a difference at this point. Just about every officer in Washington D.C. was a human supremacist - and the ones who weren't were complicit, allowing their fellow cops get away with hate crimes and not telling a soul what happened. "We can't leave her!" Sunshine screamed at Jack, having a death grip on Magik's body. She kept praying to any god that would listen to restore Magik to life.

Apparently, the gods only listened to humans. Were there any mutant religions? "You should have saved her!" she yelled at Spark Plug, blaming her for Magik's death. Spark Plug was the second in command, she was the one in charge after Veil. It didn't matter that Spark Plug was sick. She should have done something. "Max should have been the one to die!" Her eyes darted over towards the mutant sorcerer, as if the Fates would realize their error and have him fall dead and allow Magik to open her eyes. "No one even wants him around, he ruins everything he touches! He's probably the reason we're all sick! He's cursed!"

The portal opened up and Sunshine wanted to strangle Max. He had power. He could have saved Magik. He could have gotten her somewhere safe, somewhere with medical care. The humans too, she blamed them for this. Her heart hardened more as her hatred for humanity grew. Mutants couldn't live with them. Humans were why Magik had died. She landed on that conclusion and liked the way it felt. She could kill humans easily enough for revenge. They could have been responsible for M-Pox too. They stole Magik's life. The Hellfire Club had the right idea there with killing humans - if it wasn't for the fact that they killed mutants too, Sunshine would have joined.

Casper crumbled into James, clinging to him like a lifeline. The horrifying image of the demon was burned into his mind. When he closed his eyes, he saw the horns that had sprouted from Magik's head and the tail. He wasn't coherent enough to comprehend that the others had likely seen something very different, that they hadn't been so deeply traumatized. Casper had seen death before. That wasn't normal. That wasn't how it was supposed to go.

"Casper... What was that?" Ben asked nervously. "... Do you think it'll come back?" He didn't know if the thing would come for his own soul. Ben had his issues with the afterlife, but he also didn't want to downgrade to something like torture for all eternity.

"I-i-it was a demon," Casper mumbled. He was trying to communicate, but his mouth felt like someone had jammed it shut with cotton balls and peanut butter. "Oh gods, oh gods, what did it do to her... Th-th-the horns..." he sobbed. He hadn't been friends with Magik. He hadn't minded her. But Casper wasn't a stoic and heartless person - he was deeply empathetic, terrified of what he had seen and horrified by what had happened to the soul of a young girl. He didn't know how to describe what he had seen really.

He went through the portal with James, finding himself in the entranceway back at the Mutant Underground. Negasonic and Colossus were playing Guess Who. It seemed to be some sort of custom edition though, as the faces were all prominent superheroes, like the Avengers or the X-Men. Negasonic pushed down the Invisible Woman's face and Colossus turned to wave at them, smiling, only for the smile to fade.

"Illyana...?"

Sunshine was clutching Magik's corpse, having begrudgingly gone through the portal. "Max killed her!"

Colossus stood up abruptly. He looked at his dead sister. He looked at Max. He looked at his sister again. And then, the metal giant charged at Max, clearly out for blood. He rushed out the portal and slammed into Max, breaking Max's concentration and closing the portal.

The universe gave one very clear message: DO NOT GO THIS WAY. Andy had her own superstitions. She had survived by following her gut for so long. Everything was making it abundantly clear to her that she wasn't to go this way. She wanted this situation to end. She wanted to be away from it but there was no leaving it, only going through it. Fine so be it. Getting close to the insane woman would be an act of insanity. Andy wore a jacket with metal studs. That would be asking for her to just be pushed away like last week's garbage. But the jacket meant more to Andy than the cup of coffee neither of which she particularly wanted to part with.

Andy came back out from the alley. She could see the magnet lady flying over the destroyed Sentinal. Why weren't there just easy things for her to punch? Andy sighed considered her coffee and took another sip. Andy looked around the street trying to find something, anything that could assist.

"Hey, uh...Ice lady. I don't know if it helps you, but there is a fire hydrant there." Andy pointed at it. She hadn't seen the woman do anything with water, and apparently she could just summon ice as she pleased, but maybe if she had a bunch of water it could help her. It wasn't like Andy knew any of this group, their powers, or skill sets. Heck, she had known them what a whole thirty or so minutes. She was just guessing, and unless something that she wanted to punch was in punching distance Andy felt and was essentially useless.

Callie Johnson

Location: Mutant Friendly Clinic Outside
Skills: Empathy

Callie turned to look at Sunshine who instantly turned and blamed her for Magik's death as well, maybe if she was in the medical profession there was something that she could have done to try and save her. But that wasn't her area at all and Callie had never tried to bring back anyone from death either. Callie shook her head slightly getting another wave of dizziness hit her again as she stared at Sunshine. She thought of some way to try and cheer her up, something to try and help her but there wasn't anything that she could do at all either. "I'm sorry, I really am Sunshine there wasn't anything I could do even if I wanted to.." Callie said softly just as Max started to open a portal for everyone to get through which was something she didn't know that Max could do either. Callie could hear the sound of sirens coming, and that would either be the cops or Purifiers which neither of them were good at all really.

Seeing both Negasonic and Colossus on the other end as some of the others started to walk through the portal, and then Sunshine using Max as a scapegoat for Magik's death and Colossus running through the portal knocking Max backwards. The portal closing directly behind them, Callie quickly ran in between them, using her Empathy on Colossus to try and calm him down. But she wasn't able to at all, which was something she was hoping to quickly defuse the situation. "Colossus I know that you are hurting, but it wasn't Max that killed her, she died because of M-Pox please calm down." Callie said looking over at Max, hoping that he could open another portal and just get through in case she couldn't get through Colossus. "The police or Purifiers will be here soon, we need to go back now."

Kristina turned to stare a Echo who said that she was weak and gave him a bit of an annoyed glare. "Hey i'm not weak, you are the heavy one who cant learn how to even fly!" Kristina yelled back at him, it was his own fault for even trying to get up into the air in the first place she thought of just giving him a wedgie and just having Echo dangle from a flag pole or something. Kris watched as Polaris flung a half of a car at Sapphire and being blocked by Havok. She could feel the ground starting to shake as a third Sentinel appeared and Polaris flung metal shards at it seeing the thing falling to the ground and moving over to the defenseless pilot.

Kris knew that the pilot was simply just doing their job her sister was a SHIELD agent after all as well, she took a few steps forward aiming at Polaris. She shot an eyebeam directly at Polaris only for it to be deflected by her magnetic field as it hit the ground harmlessly. "Hey, over here Magneto Wannabe!" Kristina yelled hoping to get her attention instead.

"Okay, let's get one thing flat out straight, I have no feelings for Havok, the guy drives me mental, also pretty sure at times that he is insane, and is an idiot, so guess that is something you two definitely have in common. Both of you are stupid somewhat mental idiots." Sapphire said towards Polaris as the woman went beyond crazy regarding everything and decided to start throwing cars at her. Clearly her existence was just an annoyance towards the mistress of magnetism who clearly was acting a lot like her more famous father. Part of her really wanted to point that one out, when she seemingly attacked the second Sentinel that came into the area.

"You know, you really are starting to act like a different, more famous metal manipulator that everyone knows, I wonder who that could be," she mused out loud, making sure that Polaris for a fact would be able to hear her, before she started trying to throw ice at her with her one good arm. Her first attack didn't go over too well, just sending out a bit of a shower of snowflakes. "Okay come on, this is a bit ridiculous," she muttered to herself, before this time she managed to throw a rather large shard of ice that slammed right into Polaris' back, stabbing her. Sapphire winced slightly, her mind doing a little flashback to when she had accidentally killed Polaris in House of M.

"I didn't mean to kill anyone! The wiring in the stupid robot must have been faulty since when I tried to get it to move it blew up on its own!" Zari called over to Kristina when she seemed to chastise her regarding the entire thing. It hadn't been her fault that the Sentinel had blown up, it really hadn't been. She actually that time hadn't been trying to get it to blow up, and if she had been the explosion would have been much bigger in her opinion. Since then she would have known exactly what she was doing regarding everything. Her parents had been a part of SHIELD before she was born (and sometimes helped out even afterwards) so why would she actively be trying to kill their agents?

"01011001 01101111 01110101 00100000 01100001 01110010 01100101 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01101101 01101111 01110011 01110100 00100000 01110100 01110010 01111001 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01110000 01100101 01110010 01110011 01101111 01101110 00100000 01001001 00100000 01101011 01101110 01101111 01110111."

"So nice to me Mr. Eyeball, and now is not the time to try cracking a bad joke."

Ignoring the sort of chaos that was going on and the soap opera level drama revolving around Polaris and all, she kept her attention focused on the other Sentinel. Her main thing was that she was trying to disable the robot so it couldn't attack them, and unfortunately for her, it wasn't going too well. Eventually, she was pretty sure she had managed to do it, but she also accidentally caused the robot to eject the pilot essentially, and she couldn't help but face palm at that one.

"Why can't anything go right when I'm not trying to actually really hurt people?" she groaned, shaking her head as Mr. Eyeball more or less beeped along in agreement.

"Let's just get going and get out of here..." Jack said, feeling like the adrenaline from before seemed to be running out as he started once more feeling like crap again. He had been feeling better, on an adrenaline high given the situation they had been in, and now it was running out. A dizzy spell hit him as he looked to see what was going on and Max deciding to create a portal directly to the headquarters. Jack personally really wanted to try and take a little bit of time to try and come up with a good way to explain Magik's death to Colossus, but those thoughts went out the window with the words he heard Sunshine say blaming Max.

"Colossus wait!" Jack said, going over to the man and trying to pull him away from Max. He knew that Colossus was a whole lot stronger then him, but hey, at least he was trying to do something. But given the fact that Colossus was super tall and made of metal at the moment, he couldn't really get the guy to budge, his arms more or less stretching out in his attempts. "Colossus, it isn't his fault... She died from her illness. Her death wasn't caused by Purifiers, or her potentially being caught in the crossfire of Max's powers backfiring... She died from the disease that she already had when we got here... I'm sorry Colossus..."
