What did you do before the Recluse incident?
I lived in a motel for most of my life in Skid Row in L.A. I was lucky enough to be born in a family that had a shelter over their heads, but that did not change the fact that we were living in extreme poverty. I had to quit school at ten to support the family, mainly in the form of taking odd jobs and doing good ol’ dumpster diving. Father was a drug dealer, and he got shot to death on my eleventh birthday. Police brutality against the homeless and poor were common, and it was a constant issue for me. In theory, I was allowed to take thrown out food from stores, but police often just arrested or beat anyone that did. I mainly got beaten for my dumpster diving.
Mother died when I turned sixteen, raped and killed by someone. I also had no money to pay for my rent for my shitty motel, and I was out in the tents with the rest of the homeless in Skid Row. It was not long before I decided to just pack up whatever I had, and walk myself to New York city. I had nothing to lose. The journey took me some two years to fully complete as I had to take up various oddjobs along the way to support myself, never minding the other obstacles that I had to deal with. I’m surprised that I somehow managed to make it. Once in New York, I continued to do the same old things as I did in L.A. to live. I had a new hobby of picking up trash for recycling as that did give me some cash to buy some basic needs.
Life in New York was a bit better. The city administration made it easier for me to have a food stamp. Police brutality was not as rampant, but finding a spot to set up my tent was a lot harder. There was this one university that had a lot of trash that I could collect, and I did collect and recycled the trash for some dollars. Extra cash is always good. By hanging nearby that college, I somehow gained strange powers even since that gas attack...

What are your goals for the future?
Poverty is soul crushing. Life is a constant struggle without money. Without money, you’re no-one. In-fact, you do not have the right to exist. The criminalization of poverty is a sin, and it must be stopped. Homelessness is just one part of poverty. Millions are barely scraping by, forced to often take more then two jobs to pay rent or likewise. Medical bills stack up, and people have to pay up or die. Injustice is out there, and I want to change that by revolution. As in the words of Lenin, “This struggle must be organised,” and I intend to organize.
You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
It’s shitty. I don’t like it. It has the issues of late capitalism.
How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
I don’t use technology at all. I only have a single phone that I use but that is it.
What do you like?
Food, water, and not dying. I don’t have much time to take up hobbies since I spend most of my life trying to not die from lack of said basic necessities.
What do you dislike?
Death. I don’t want to die.

So, I have to be honest with you on this one: I don’t really like this. At all.
I’ll be the first to admit personal bias, but considering the inspirations I’m working with, I’m uncomfortable with such a cynical character. Yes, I know there’s a gas attack in the backstory alone, but the tone of this tale is supposed to be more hopeful, if not necessarily upbeat. Reading your submission just made me feel... defeated.
I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can accept this, not in this state. I know you said you’re unfamiliar with Spider-Man lore in general, so it might not hurt to brush up on it more before trying again.

So I made some changes, let me know if I need to change anything. Also I took out the mutation because I didn't think it would be cool enough. I was thinking about him controlling or fusing metal to his body like armor. But I think that would be too much, unless one of those mutations would be okay.

For metal fusion, I’m gonna call it a 25-point Mutation, just because of the increased versatility (I’d normally call it 30, but considering you’re literally a metal head, I’m inclined to be generous).
Which will give you 75/100 to spend on everything else. Just to reiterate, Mutation is not a separate, special category. If you want points in Mutation, you gotta spend them from your pool of 100. Sound good?

I'm slender with a dark brown pixie cut. I like to wear comfy yoga pants and colourful hoodies and knit hats from the fiendish New York weather. I also happen to have eight violet-lavender eyes, but don't worry! I wear these cool goggles that hide them, so please no need to hide the snot nosed b--lovely children.
Although my new six eyes have been an unwanted addition to my otherwise perfect complexion, I am very particular with my skincare routine and try to look as perfect as possible.
What did you do before the Recluse incident?
Oh my days, before the incident I had it all! I was a famous Instagram Influencer, like places PAID for me to show up and take some selfies to promote their business. It was an amazing gig, and it really boosted my self-esteem! I sometimes find myself looking back on all those old pictures before the incident, remembering the better time. So many followers.
I'm originally from Croydon, London. I grew up with my single mother, I still actually don't even know what happened to my dad. Living in Croydon as a single parent my mum seemed to have always been working as many odd jobs as she could, she always said that I need to get my education sorted as she didn't get hers. My dad? Anytime I asked dear old mum about his whereabouts she would shut down and act really weird. I've tried looking up any leads on social media with no luck.
When I was growing up, I was actually bullied for being taller than the boys. They called me a monster, giant, ogre, you name it. It wasn't until Billy that I finally stood up to myself. Billy was my first crush, he was a little on the nerdy side and one of those quiet kids but he and I clicked and became a dynamic duo of sorts. Billy helped me see that I'm not a monster or an ogre, he helped me see that I'm actually a pretty cool person. My mum thought we were going to be married, the weirdo.
But Billy ended up dying. We were walking down main street gabbing away, I remember him saying I'd look cute with short hair. At the time, my hair was down to my lower back and I didn't really know how to take care of it at the time. That was the first time he ever used my name and said the word 'cute' in one sentence. I wasn't paying attention when we were crossing the road. There was a car, he pushed me away and he got hit. I'll never forget that day.
Shortly thereafter when I was 14, my mum passed away I don't like to talk about it. My grandmother from New York started working on immigration paperwork, the immigration system sucks but I finally got in! It was a huge culture shock to say the least, silly Americans with their inept public transportation services.
As I settled, I noticed that as I got older people hearted my pictures more, so taking more selfies made me confident and gain 550k followers, high school was a breeze and I was looking into college to get a basic business degree and..then it happened!

I always had a weird 'sixth' sense about me. Like I could always tell when something felt 'off' but I could never place my finger on it. Now I can, I have a heightened sense of my surroundings and am able to be quicker about avoiding catastrophes. I'm a lot quicker than I once was and I can take a fall better than I once did.
But I now have eight eyes, it's really hard to get by. My dreams of being a model are essentially over. I have to wear eight-lensed goggles to hide them but it doesn't help. Since the incident, I started sticking to the shadows and avoiding others..which is a really hard adjustment, it's almost like I'm back to where I was before I met Billy. With extra eyes.
Do you believe in aliens?
Weird question but yeah.
What are your goals for the future?
I want to live as normal as I did before the incident. But my freakshow of a face is getting in the way of that. People used to give me a hard time with being so tall and later it ended up being a good asset to me..with these eyes I'm not sure if it can ever be a good asset. I'm starting to resent others who are impacted by this incident and not be mutated. Why me?

The city is grand! It's no London in terms of efficiency in it's public transport, and London did have the best footie stadiums ever. (COYI) But New York has, I don't know, character! I do love a good people-watch and eavesdrop in this city, there's always something going on. I can always count on New York to escape my own demons and look into the lives of others.
How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
You'd think my phone was glued to my hands.
What do you like?

Modeling, networking (Or is that called 'web'working for me now?), casual video games (nothing too violent, please), staying at a cafe for hours, talking to people.

19. I'm kinda in that weird time where you're no longer a kid but not quite an adult yet.
What do you look like?
What did you do before the Recluse incident?
I'll do my best not to sound like a whiner or that I'm milking sympathy but I'd be lying if I said life has been easy for me and my Mom. You see, when I was a kid, my Dad walked out the door on me and her and we never saw or heard from him again. No phone calls, no birthday cards, not even a paycheck for child care. Needless to say, I've never quite forgiven him.
Anyways, this forced my Mom to work some less-than-ideal jobs to make ends meet, not helped by the fact she herself had grown up in a rather dysfunctional family so outside help was a bit limited. I did my part to help, like working hard in school and learning to do certain menial tasks like cleaning and doing the dishes so she didn't have to do them the days she came home exhausted.
However, I'd be lying if I said I was some shining paragon as I did do some things I'm not entirely proud of. Like one time, a mugger tried to steal my mom's wallet and when he laid his hands on her...I snapped and broke his jaw with a few solid punches. The police said the only reason I wasn't doing juvie was cause the guy was a repeat offender and couldn't afford a lawyer.
That said, word of these situations got out and...let's just say I didn't have too many friends growing up and leave it at that.
Around the time of my high-school graduation though things were finally looking up. By some miracle, my Mom got a job in New York and we moved there to start over. It was quite a change but I like to think I handled it well enough.
However, that's when the Recluse Incident happened...
What happened after the incident?
Well, I recall falling very sick and waking up in the hospital several days later. Surprisingly, I didn't feel sick anymore. If anything, I felt...fine. Better than fine actually. I felt...powerful. I quickly realized I had perfect vision too, among other...benefits.
Somehow, I had managed the impossible...and gained actual superpowers.
What happens next? Well...I guess you'll just have to wait and see.

Bio-Feedback: Alan has total control of his body and its functions, all the way down to the cellular level. Although he is only just starting to grasp how it works, it's clear it has a lot of untapped potential. He can control his metabolism, his own heartbeat, purge poisons and toxins from his system, numb his pain receptors, boost his self-healing and even alter his appearance to a degree.
Do you believe in aliens?
I love Sci-fi and we do live in but one tiny corner of a seemingly infinite cosmos. As such, I think it's ignorant of us to think we're the only intelligent life-forms in existence.
What are your goals for the future?
I've always wanted to be a superhero so I'm finally getting the chance to live the dream. Gonna use my new powers to try and find who set up that bomb and why. That said, I do also want to find my father and get some answers out of him...and I'm more than ready to use force if I have to.

I've only lived here a few months or so but I gotta say it's pretty nice so far. It definitely could do with some "cleaning up" here and there but I can think of much worse places to live.

A fair amount. I try not to take it to a crazy extent but I do sometimes find people are more reasonable and open-minded in the online world than those you find in the real world.

Alexander "Xander" Lee: Eaten at his grandparents chinese place a few times. It's good food and Xander seems like a decent guy. I wonder if I should ask him for a few self-defense lessons...
Lindy Audrum: Not gonna lie, that girl scares me sometimes. Seriously, she looks like she could make my head explode like a grape just by squeezing it. That said, her frequent stops to pick up goodies has led me to realize she's a good person who appreciates tasty treats.

What did you do before the Recluse incident?
I didn't have what you would call a normal life for someone that was destined to be a hero. I grew up on what most people would call the wrong side of the tracks. Which in simple terms means I was poor, got into fights, didn't do all that great in school, or anything else that would make me look bad to the average person. The neighborhood I grew up in was also rough. We weren't the worst in the city but it was definitely not the place you wanted to be if you weren't familiar with the area. For me, though it was just life. I suppose when you live in something like that you don't really think about it.
What I lacked in school however I more than made up for in sports particularly basketball, which was the sport of choice for most of my childhood. Basketball served as the main form of entertainment for us growing up as kids. Though it was fun and to this day I still love playing, it wasn't until high school that I found my true passion in the form of hockey. Oddly enough it was the first time that my fighting and toughness actually worked out in my favor. It really served as the turning point for me and gave me the motivation to actually try. I started paying more attention in school so they would let me play and started to devote all my time to it that I could.
After Highschool, I was one of the few kids that made it out as it were. I got offered a scholarship to the local university to play on their hockey team, something that as a little kid I never would have thought would happen. But I guess life never stops throwing us for a loop and now I have some freaky, albeit cool, powers. So where my life goes from here I guess we will see.

Arthur has the ability to sprout 4 large spider-like legs out of his back that act as extra limbs. These limbs can help in a variety of tasks from fighting to maneuvering and once he is done using them will retract into his back. However, this has left a scar on his back where the legs come from.

I mean I don't really think about it all that much. I mean there might be something up there or it could all be empty.
What are your goals for the future?
Well before this whole thing started my plan was to either be good enough at Hockey that I could go pro. But if that didn't work out I figured I would work in the law somehow and hopefully help people who were in the same position I was. With these new powers though I'm not sure what my plan is anymore.

I'll always have a soft spot for this city considering it's where I was born and raised, but id be lying if I said I didn't have thought of leaving. But who knows life has a funny way of working out.

What did you do before the Recluse incident?
I didn't have what you would call a normal life for someone that was destined to be a hero. I grew up on what most people would call the wrong side of the tracks. Which in simple terms means I was poor, got into fights, didn't do all that great in school, or anything else that would make me look bad to the average person. The neighborhood I grew up in was also rough. We weren't the worst in the city but it was definitely not the place you wanted to be if you weren't familiar with the area. For me, though it was just life. I suppose when you live in something like that you don't really think about it.
What I lacked in school however I more than made up for in sports particularly basketball, which was the sport of choice for most of my childhood. Basketball served as the main form of entertainment for us growing up as kids. Though it was fun and to this day I still love playing, it wasn't until high school that I found my true passion in the form of hockey. Oddly enough it was the first time that my fighting and toughness actually worked out in my favor. It really served as the turning point for me and gave me the motivation to actually try. I started paying more attention in school so they would let me play and started to devote all my time to it that I could.
After Highschool, I was one of the few kids that made it out as it were. I got offered a scholarship to the local university to play on their hockey team, something that as a little kid I never would have thought would happen. But I guess life never stops throwing us for a loop and now I have some freaky, albeit cool, powers. So where my life goes from here I guess we will see.

Arthur has the ability to sprout 4 large spider-like legs out of his back that act as extra limbs. These limbs can help in a variety of tasks from fighting to maneuvering and once he is done using them will retract into his back. However, this has left a scar on his back where the legs come from.
Do you believe in aliens?
I mean I don't really think about it all that much. I mean there might be something up there or it could all be empty.
What are your goals for the future?
Well before this whole thing started my plan was to either be good enough at Hockey that I could go pro. But if that didn't work out I figured I would work in the law somehow and hopefully help people who were in the same position I was. With these new powers though I'm not sure what my plan is anymore.
You lived in New York for a while now, right? What do you think of the city?
I'll always have a soft spot for this city considering it's where I was born and raised, but id be lying if I said I didn't have thought of leaving. But who knows life has a funny way of working out.
How much technology do you use on a daily basis?
Well if you count headphones then nearly all day. Gotta admit I'm a sucker for music of just about any genre. Other than that it's not entirely my thing.

Do you think true evil exists?
To an extent, I believe there is. I think everyone sees themselves as the hero of their own stories and see us as the villains standing in their way. But some people are just too far beyond that point.
