Thinking on it more, I think the fact Lucius seems to need to actively try to read minds, and Lhoren (that's my char's name) is taking gifts class hoping to learn a way to turn it off when she doesn't need it, makes them fundamentally different enough at a base level to make the similarities interesting

He's growing into a lanky type of build, keeps his hair short in the back and whatever up front. That and his eagerness to use his fists over words means plenty of bruises and scrapes to hide away. Also has bags under his eyes from late night flying(he's a slow as you go type with a frosty trail). They hide emerald iris (that honestly could use some spectacles) with fair haired brows usually furrowed over some sort of disagreement. Tussled clean hair but hardly anything more than that. He squints a lot and his boisterous ways lead him to look disgruntled sometimes when he isn't. A pert smirk is his favorite demeanor however. Has a horrible uniform ethic that's ill fitting and obviously worn from past fistacuffs. Can often be seen using his class books as projectiles or furniture.

He's the type of person you'd rather want on your side rather than not; so it's been known to ice around Ivar's commonroom muttering his monologues to any telepath within mindshot. Kasp's a regular at detention for sleeping in class throwing things, vandalism, and dress code, so much so he was 'academically advised' to take the role as Librarian Aide. It's his troublesome ways that lead him into the line of fire of upperclass bullies, but also to the rescue of even meeker targets.

Obviously the correspondence with his mother over the years has made him very distrusting of peoples true or final motions. Sure he'll play along but the glitter of doubt always lingers in his mind about his emotional safety in many scenarios. So loud paranoid claims can heard from the little rascal as he tries to figure out his constitution in age. Kaspaan is one to hold a grudge too, getting him back on your good graces is harder than it should be. Consequences seem pointless to him far too often and will need to be addressed if he is to thrive at the Academy.

Kasp's life has been one of constant motion since his birth. Being the son of a popular artist and actress was bound the leave him wondering where and whom to call home. When his mother decided to end an alleged affair the oldest of ways, suddenly the fame and fortune took turns for the worst. It made news in the Palace, but quickly faded into the minds of only the odd Art enthusiast or Parliment-ee. Wherein Kaspaan would normally love meeting strangers, and being a glutton for fame, this chapter of his infancy was marred by absent neglect. In the absence of a father, he was sheltered under the care of his decidedly not famous grandmother. She, something of an actress herself, did not do much to help other than what was ordered of her.
Kasp learned to fend for himself and became very guarded emotionally at this time. This would lead to rude behaviors and outbursts even in the Academy. He bitterly grew a chip on his tiny shoulder's after every allusion to his linage was brought up. But his elders could also see he had a great desire to prove bad expectations wrong. He traveled a lot due to his guardians job, but one of the last places he lived was his longest. It's there he would unknowingly meet Raffaella but also suddenly disappear.
Things of a more mystical persuasion took over when instead of blowing out his candles on his 14th birthday, he froze them. Being a mystic was something everyone dreamed of! The adulations and surprise of the party brought him acceptance and pride he'd never felt before. They'd all heard the stories however, his mother's infamy still strong in mind. The Academy's representatives were wrote promptly to unsure this apple didn't rot. Kasp was quite naive as a freshly minted fourteen year old and thought being whisked away wouldn't come with his old life. His first semester was full of furtive rumors and sly bullying as to the new kid's origins. He's made a few friends of the clowning sort, but desperately wants to be respected and accepted. The powers that be are very hesitant about his conduct but see it as lashing out at personal trails of his unfortunate history. This is the year he finds out about the Willows after all.

Kaspaan loves to swim and has been caught sneaking out to do so many times. Pranks of ice puddles on stairs was deemed immediately flagrant and Kasp was put on extended library detail ever since. The professor in question the hurt themselves is also the swimming coach. Suffice to say this makes him feel very unlucky and likes to be rebellious under the suspicion he's already been written off. He has near perfect attendance surprisingly and always sits in the front row instead of using his glasses. His grades, while lacking in note taking seem satisfactory as well. As for class selection his attention span is the most deciding factor since he lacks any shyness. Don't ask him about that though.Elder's hardly get anywhere trying to give this little guy therapy. Frankly he hasn't really opened up to anyone about his feelings toward his parents but this year may change that.
As to his classmates, some have found a caring confidante for their angst. Others have found a target to bully, seeing as to his quick temper. Pranks or snoring is what is perhaps his claim to fame on campus, if any seeing how inconspicuous his first year was.

Waaga Rider is a goal of his, it would really keep him occupied gainfully. He feels he has more people to prove wrong than to prove right so academic success isn't off the table but also isn't his priority. Perhaps he'll find a mentor and get his act together. Most important to him seems to be becoming proficient in his gift into something more than a trick.

Kasp gets regular owlette letters with what his imprisoned mother is allowed to say. Dealing the the Royal Judiciaries is something familiar to him. She talks to him more than his grandmother, who is trailing off into mental abandon with her age and general disinterest in the boy. His father was put to rest long before he could remember but he has made trips to the Endless infrequently over the years to pay his respects. Or to ask lornful questions. His mother berates him for never showing her his gift, while splashing gleefully in the throughs of manic displeasure when he answers wrong. Tough shake pal, it's made him rather hate seeing a particular breed of Owlette Cespsues uses. He is also a regular fixture of the library at certain hours, so the staff know him there. The swimming instructor does as well, seeing how playful Kaspy is.
Raffaella Struna: They shared a school and a class or two together he vaguely remembers. Something about her is very hard for him to pin down before the iceman were to skamper off. Currently they have yet to be reacquainted.
Anastasia Arslan: Kaspaan isn't sure how to tell the prestigious upperclasswomen what she thought was a chance to help, actually hurts him due top his special aoenheart. Heat, and the sources of it drain his vitesse, and her gift doubly-so due to it's behavior. Unknowingly enforcing his fear or her is his refusal to reproach the situation, but Tessa has asked for him to try this year.

Brave, sensible, responsible, Leah appears every bit one would expect of a descendant of Eusebia, and a child of a Royal Guardsman. Confident, and just a bit headstrong, Leah aptly fills the the role that's been thrust upon her. Personable and friendly, Leah is seen as a role model by many, and is extremely loyal to those she is close with. However, just behind the prim and proper facade, is a mere teenager, beginning to feel the symptoms of burn out and exhausted by the overwhelming expectations placed upon her by her family, the academy and her fellow students. Leah often feels alone, isolated from her fellow students, whether or not those feelings are misplaced. She fears that failing to be anything less than extraordinary means utter failure, and the fact that she was not designated as her house's Illuminaire for a 3rd year weighs heavy on her.
Leah is most in her element in classes and situations relying on physicality. While Psychiccers typically avoid physical conflict, Leah keeps in good physical shape, finding exercise and fighting as one of her few methods of therapy. Leah often espouses the importance of physical fitness, regularly reciting her father's adage: A strong body makes a strong mind. Leah is intense when it comes to contests and training, and occasionally needs to be reminded to cool off.
Generally not a stickler for rules anyway, Leah occasionally forgets that she's no longer the Illuminaire for her house, and wanders across campus during off hours from time to time.

Leah Eusebia Clearwater is the youngest granddaughter of Eusebia the Stalwart, a grand hero of the 72 Years Liberation War, and whom both Leah and an entire house of the academy is named after. Her father is General Artur Galahad Clearwater, a prominent commander of the Royal Guard. With such a pedigree, it wouldn't be a stretch for one to say that Leah was born for war. Seemingly groomed for such a role, even at an early age Leah was being prepared for an inevitable fight against the Ni-Seraphi. In her childhood years, Leah was instilled with the ideas of martial discipline, as expected of one in her stature, and lived in adherence to a strict schedule. Lessons, tutors, drills, etiquette, the best the Eusebia family could afford, Leah's day to day childhood was strictly enforced.
While Leah's relationship with her grandfather was always warm and supportive, her relationship with her parents were considerably more cold and standoffish. Perhaps not exactly a lack of love, but 'taking it easy' was never something the Clearwater family understood. If Leah had time to relax, she had time to be doing chores, drilling with her brothers or the Guardsmen-in-training, or reading up on history and the Ni-Seraphi. Though only girl in a family of boys, Leah was treated no differently than the rest, and whatever expectations her father had of his sons, he had for her as well.
At the age of 13, Leah's powers began manifesting, to which her family took great pride in. Like her father, and his father, Leah was a Mystic. Also like her father, Leah was a telekineticist. Very quickly the Academy was contacted and Leah's potential was measured. They came to the conclusion was that Leah, a literal child, was destined for great things. The Academy was mandatory for Mystics, and thus Leah was admitted and sent off.
With the weight of her family's expectations already upon her, Leah threw herself headlong into her studies, forcing herself to meet said expectations no matter what the cost. When Leah wasn't in school, she was receiving private training from members of the Royal Guard- eager to win favor from her father. Skyrocketing to among the top of her house's rankings, Leah was even designated the Illuminaire for her house during her 3rd and 4th year in the Academy. To cap off her 4th year of school, Leah even bested a junior member of the Royal Guard in single combat. Riding that high, Leah returned home with her head held high, only to be deflated shortly thereafter. Even with all of the accolades and awards, it still didn't seem to be enough for her family.
Close to buckling under the expectations of her family, Leah approaches her 5th year with some measure of trepidation. She lives more or less entrenched in the shadow of her eldest brother, a star pupil that had made waves within the Academy some years ago. She still hasn't told her father that she is not the house Illuminaire again this year.

Leah is a well known student at the Academy, in no small part due to her lineage. Leah is regularly viewed as a role model student, particularly amongst younger members of House Eusebia, and is well liked by her teachers for her sensible nature and stellar grades. She is considered rather responsible and approachable, if a bit serious and intense- especially when it comes to exercising both body and mystic ability. There are a few rumors going about as to about why Leah is not Illuminaire again. Unsurprisingly, Leah is not particularly well liked by those in more delinquent groups or the troublemaking sort.
In her spare time, Leah can regularly be found practicing in the Dueling Room. Some say that she practically lives there.

Leah Eusebia Clearwater is the youngest granddaughter of Eusebia the Stalwart, a grand hero of the 72 Years Liberation War, and whom both Leah and an entire house of the academy is named after. Her father is General Artur Galahad Clearwater, a prominent commander of the Royal Guard. With such a pedigree, it wouldn't be a stretch for one to say that Leah was born for war. Seemingly groomed for such a role, even at an early age Leah was being prepared for an inevitable fight against the Ni-Seraphi. In her childhood years, Leah was instilled with the ideas of martial discipline, as expected of one in her stature, and lived in adherence to a strict schedule. Lessons, tutors, drills, etiquette, the best the Eusebia family could afford, Leah's day to day childhood was strictly enforced.
While Leah's relationship with her grandfather was always warm and supportive, her relationship with her parents were considerably more cold and standoffish. Perhaps not exactly a lack of love, but 'taking it easy' was never something the Clearwater family understood. If Leah had time to relax, she had time to be doing chores, drilling with her brothers or the Guardsmen-in-training, or reading up on history and the Ni-Seraphi. Though only girl in a family of boys, Leah was treated no differently than the rest, and whatever expectations her father had of his sons, he had for her as well.
At the age of 13, Leah's powers began manifesting, to which her family took great pride in. Like her father, and his father, Leah was a Mystic. Also like her father, Leah was a telekineticist. Very quickly the Academy was contacted and Leah's potential was measured. They came to the conclusion was that Leah, a literal child, was destined for great things. The Academy was mandatory for Mystics, and thus Leah was admitted and sent off.
With the weight of her family's expectations already upon her, Leah threw herself headlong into her studies, forcing herself to meet said expectations no matter what the cost. When Leah wasn't in school, she was receiving private training from members of the Royal Guard- eager to win favor from her father. Skyrocketing to among the top of her house's rankings, Leah was even designated the Illuminaire for her house during her 3rd and 4th year in the Academy. To cap off her 4th year of school, Leah even bested a junior member of the Royal Guard in single combat. Riding that high, Leah returned home with her head held high, only to be deflated shortly thereafter. Even with all of the accolades and awards, it still didn't seem to be enough for her family.
Close to buckling under the expectations of her family, Leah approaches her 5th year with some measure of trepidation. She lives more or less entrenched in the shadow of her eldest brother, a star pupil that had made waves within the Academy some years ago. She still hasn't told her father that she is not the house Illuminaire again this year.

Leah is a well known student at the Academy, in no small part due to her lineage. Leah is regularly viewed as a role model student, particularly amongst younger members of House Eusebia, and is well liked by her teachers for her sensible nature and stellar grades. She is considered rather responsible and approachable, if a bit serious and intense- especially when it comes to exercising both body and mystic ability. There are a few rumors going about as to about why Leah is not Illuminaire again. Unsurprisingly, Leah is not particularly well liked by those in more delinquent groups or the troublemaking sort.

She was a Mystic, and a Psychiccer at that.
At first she was excited, but during the few weeks of transitional paperwork while she was still at school, her ability to read minds and unearth secrets was seen as intrusive. Her teenage friends suddenly felt uneasy just being around her, and her popularity vanished overnight. Even her family members started acting differently around her, and she could suddenly hear their doubts. Their paranoid thoughts about her. But they smiled through and continued to support her, so she put on a smile herself and reciprocated.
Once the paperwork was finalised, she finally arrived at Harold’s Academy as a first year. Surely, with everyone else being a Mystic, she could make new friends. But it was worse. As a Psychiccer assigned to House Ivar she was inherently mistrusted by three quarters of the student body by default. Even amongst her own house, her gift still made regular conversations tense. The people around her know she’s a nice girl who tries her hardest, but over one year attending the school, she has yet to maintain a single lasting personal friendship with anybody.

Taegan is a character with high status and a sense of entitlement. They are proud of their noble background and never hesitates to showcase their prestige. There's no specific number. It will depend on how many character submissions we get and how many players out of that number want to have the Seraph's Kiss. Statistically and narratively, far more students won't have it than will, and as we can see, many players want the Seraph's Kiss. Ideally, it should be 25% of characters will have "the kiss" and the other 75% will not. It's not a first come, first serve thing for me. It's about quality, thematic cohesion, magical balance, creativity, narrative integration, etc. Create your character as you want; don't let current submissions sway your creativity. But if too many players want "the kiss", I'll have to make some tough choices once I'm able to thoroughly review all the character sheets. I want to be fair, but narratively, it's just something only a few players can have, unfortunately. :)
I honestly assumed it was going to be rarer than not, though as it tends to go it seems more than a few like the idea of it for their characters. Which is entirely fair you know, just hoping we all get to play the characters we want lol. On that note I was going to have Corrine have it, though her secondary ability only manifested once and she hasn't been able to use it since. So really, unless someone gets the old man to talk or she actually manages to manifest that ability again, she's playing the best game of hide the gift possible on accident lmao.

Narratively, it would be much rarer, right? lol but like I said, I do want to be fair so at least a relative number of players get to have the kiss. So 25% felt like a good compromise in this case. But yeah, most players can't have it, otherwise, it wouldn't be the narrative and thematic anomaly that its supposed to be. It's supposed to be this abnormality that the Mystic community heavily looks down on. It's a metaphor about discrimination for being different, which is also the entire point of the X-men. It's a cultural and safety hazard issue for them. So the rarity of it builds up the angst and secrecy that these individuals have to go through to keep the fact that they have "the kiss" hidden from most others. I mean, the Mystics are REALLY prejudice against other Mystics with the Seraph's Kiss due to the legacy of their world, notably during The Time of Tears.
I do think there's enough material where everyone can still play the character they want, they just might not be as "gifted" as they originally planned out. Similar to how not everyone can be an Illuminaire. We have to adapt tactfully and still be open-minded enough to make changes and have fun. ^_~ <3

I think in the greater narrative, the Academy hosts around a thousand students. The player characters tend to be the ones that stand out more for various reasons. So the percentage of special cases or creme la creme characters within the PC population is examining that 1% of the 1000.
