@Zapdos

What the fuck was he doing? Sitting on the counter and making vague threats? Regan’s head turned slowly to her.. acquaintance.. with utter disbelief. In the future, this was going to reflect on her quality as a Ranger. This would absolutely not do. She could not associate with some street brute.

She took a breath and turned her attention to the receptionist, “a moment, please.” It might be time for all her physical training to manifest.

Her attention returned to her acquaintance, “David,” her tone was sharp, “since when do people perch on countertops like some vulgar thug? Get down, apologize, and wait outside. Or don’t, actually. I’ll handle this myself, you can find someone else to make a menace of yourself with.”

She waited.

And then turned back to the receptionist.

“Let’s try that again. Where were we- oh, right, ‘I’d hate for other staff to see someone so out of place and unofficial. The complex should probably hire me officially, right?’”

It was at the last second that Freya noticed that Steph's hand retracted. A look of panicked realization fell upon her face. "Sorry! I was too focused on taking care of your Litwick." Instead of being offended by her blatant rudeness, the bogan instead wanted her phone number. A little odd considering that they likely haven't even said ten sentences to each other. "Oh, uh, I mean we just met so maybe a phone number would be a bit much. I wouldn't be opposed to a battle though, but one of them isn't exactly battle ready yet..."

While they walked and talked, they approached this makeshift stand that could hardly be called a stand and more like a crate that was converted into a table while some bald looking greasy guy with a bulbous red nose sat on a stool. He had this seedy, toothy grin as if he had caught some suckers hook, line, and sinker. And then Steph opened her mouth.

"Uh, dear customer I'm not entirely sure what you're saying, but if there are any concerns of legitimacy then worry not for I am allowed to sell Pokemon! Well, legal in the sense that as long as no one raises an issue with it." He muttered the last part to himself. Frankly speaking, this girl gave him bad vibes. His survival instincts told him that if he played his cards wrong that he would by the way of the Pokemon that made its home in the waters of the docks and be swimming with them if he was not careful.

"Discerning customer, I dare not dream to rip you off! Why, look at this specimen! He grabbed the Pokeball on the crate and with a click of the button, a little anthropoid with silver-ish blue and purple scales stood on it. Isn't he radiating such strength? Such bravery?"

Steph's Rotom Phone hovered in front of her and after a quick scan with the camera, it said:

Pokedex Entry #767- Wimpod, the Turn Tail Pokémon. Wimpod gather in swarms, constantly on the lookout for danger. They scatter the moment they detect an enemy's presence. It's nature's cleaner—it eats anything and everything, including garbage and rotten things.

However, Steph heard another Pokedex go off next to her and she saw that Freya's Rotom Phone was hovering in front of her reading off the same entry. Freya too was looking at Steph's phone. "Huh?"

@Xaltwind

Evelyn after making her purchase was left with 1000 P.

Anyway, with her shopping spree out of the way Evelyn decided to take her first steps as a trainer and leave Grand Glory. Deciding that south was her best bet, our aspiring model would make her way through the city.

She would see the city life of people and Pokemon going about their day, loud and ever bustling, but the closer she was to the city limits the activity lessened. The buildings also started to become smaller, more suburban until even these mundane homes disappeared too. The air became cleaner over time, free from the fumes and exhaust of vehicles. It was not long until she reached the official end of the city limits and stepped on a dirt path.

@Crusader Lord@Shazamrock

As they correctly guessed, they definitely would not fall down into the water because they would be metaphorically and literally be up to their chest in shit. Frankly speaking, the smell alone would have sent someone with less resolve or a weak stomach back onto the surface, but they certainly were neither of those things. What they certainly were though was smelly. However, the smell of unfettered shit that will cling to them was not a deterrent for their hunt for Pokemon.

Nils was spoiled for choice for which Rattata he could pick though he ended up going for one that was eating a half eaten pizza slice that it somehow dragged down. It guarded its slice jealously, the hairs on its back rose as it readied itself for battle.

Ratattas, including the Alolan variant. were not exactly bulky Pokemon. Shocker I know, so only one Smack Down was needed to bring the thieving rat down to low enough HP for Nils to feel confident to throw a Pokeball at it. With a bonk to the head, the Pokeball opened up and absorbed it in a flash of red light and then fell to the ground. It began to shake.

It shook once...

It shook twice...

It shook thrice!

Meanwhile, psychic numero uno was hunting after sentient slime and trash. First up was one of those Alolan Grimers. It was prowling around looking for more Trubbish to feast upon in its quest to purge the sewers of trash when Sir Lopsalot started to wail on the sludge pile with Power Up Punches. It retaliated by releasing a cloud of poisonous gas from its mouth that when breathed in would inflict the poison status. Luckily, it missed and the Buneary was able to get another hit in. Weirdly enough, it looked like with each hit that it was able to recover just a little bit of health though the Buneary's stacking attack boosts quickly outpaced it. When its health was low enough, Clarissa threw her Pokeball and it bounced off the slime with a wet sound before it was absorbed into the Pokeball.

It shook once...

It shook twice...

It shook thrice!

And then she went after the bipedal trash bag that was running for its life. Not from the Grimers, but from the murder bunny that was chasing after it. It jumped and turned back, shooting off a cloud of poison gas at the Buneary just like the Grimer she caught earlier. However, this time luck was not on Sir Lopsalot's side as he breathed in the toxic fumes and was inflicted with the poison status. Not like it saved the trash bag from getting walloped in the face by a punch from one of the bunny's ears though it retaliated with a Pound attack hitting the rabbit for some damage.

Eventually though the Trubbish was weakened enough where Clarissa felt comfortable enough to throw a Pokeball at it. It was absorbed and the ball fell to the ground, shaking.

It shook once...

It shook twice...

It shook thrice!

Well, now what? That creepy crying deep in these smelly sewers wasn't going to find itself.

@GremlinAgain@baraquiel

Despite its evasion being boosted, Rift was able to beat the odds and was able to swipe its claws against the plantlike exterior of the Cacnea. It cried out in pain as Rift's claws dug into the sentient cactus.

The veins in Sven's head bulged from both frustration and annoyance. "You little punks! Don't act as if you already won! I-I'm just getting started!" He shouted at them, pointing his finger at them while shouting his declaration as if he wasn't one foot in the proverbial grave. "Cacnea! Use Absorb the on Zorua and maintain your distance!"

The little bulbous cactus jumped back to maintain distance between it and the Zorua. It held its arms out forward and the spikes around its wrist glowed with red energy before it shot a volley of red beams at the dark-type. While it was trying to maintain distance, it had the same problem as its partner that just got knocked out. However, the Cacnea had only received only a lick of damage while Rift and Bravos were being chipped by the sandstorm.

How do they react? And what would their special combo attack be?

@Zarkun

The old woman watched as the aspiring champ, taking her words to heart, set off to try to find the mysterious blue blur. "...It'll be okay, right?"

While Jason walked through the trees, he could not shake the feeling that something was watching him. That something was burning its gaze through him though he could not tell where it was watching him from. Once he sat down to catch his breath, it would have been fair to assume that his words fell upon deaf ears, except that feeling that something was watching grew stronger. In fact, just behind one of the trees across from the clearing he could see a little blue head with a black marking on its fur that resembled a mask. It's head had two triangular ears that stood upright while two black protrusions hung from its face.

"Olu?"

Jason Rotom Phone hovered next to him and with its robotic voice said the following:

#447-Riolu, the Emanation Pokemon. It has the peculiar power of being able to see emotions, such as joy and rage, in the form of waves. They communicate with one another using their auras.

While Jason could see the mystery Pokemon, it made no attempts to approach him.

What does he do?

@Crimson Flame@Joshua Tamashii

With the grace of someone who probably practiced his Pokeball throws in front of a full length mirror, Valarian threw the Pokeball at the Petilil. It smacked the living bulb square between the eyes, bouncing up into the air before it opened up and absorbed the grass type in a beam of red light. It landed on the soft grass and began to shake.

It shook once...

It shook twice...

It shook thrice!

Well, now what? What do smol spooky girl and the fairy prince do?

@Zapdos@CitrusArms

The receptionist expected many things to happen today, most of them being mundane and routine. However, what they had not expected was for a 6'2 Kantoian boy built like a shit brick house to sit on their desk and blatantly make threats in broad daylight like he was part of the Yakuza. David had the receptionist sweating buckets, not exactly sure how they were supposed to respond to this situation. No one ever told them that being a receptionist in a fancy apartment complex would mean having to deal with casual threats like this!

However, like a ray of civility Regan interrupted the situation and told that hoodlum off. Their eyes sparkled with approval, completely unaware that this unintentional good cop/bad cop dynamic had totally played them like a damn fiddle. "Well, I see that you are much more reasonable than your companion." They gave David a side eye before they returned to conversing with Regan. "I can hire you as a freelancer, even your... friend here if he still would oblige my conditions. So, let's talk brass tacks. What do you want for payment?"

Let the negotiations begin!

Also as a side note, there was a sign on the wall that gave directions to the facilities in the building. There was indeed a pool. Make of that what you will.

Evelyn

On Route 4

Engrossed in her own daydreams and delusions of her great, undeniable and infinitely successful future, the stylish girl walked along the bustling streets of Grand Glory City... Until they became less bustling... And the buildings began to become less, well, grand and more spread apart... And more spread apart... ANd smaller...

... Until finally, the city proper was behind her, and Evelyn now stood face-to-face with the real, true, unmistakeable wild nature of her home region. The clear skies, the fresh air, the sparkling river water, the swaying vivid grass, the... .... ... The... The uh... The dirt... And rocks...

...

...

"... Wut?"

A meepish noise escaped the blonde girl's lips as she stood there on the dirt path, staring out at the vast expanse of uncivilized land before her. Hills and grass and rocks and dirt. ... Oh, well, there was sort of a road for cars and behicles, but it seemed kinda... Small... And... Spoarsely used...? But... But wait...! This was right next to Grand Glory City, right? The most developing city in all of Evig, right? W-Why wasn't there a sidewalk? Why wasn't there a paved, proper road? Why were there no street lamps or billboards or... Or... ANYTHING!?!

D-Did I... Make a mistake? Is this not the right way...? No, wait... Lemme check... No, the phone says this is Route 4... So, why... Why's it like this? S-Should I go back, turn around? ... No... No, you made this choice, Evee! You wanted to go south, so south we're going! ... Even if... Even if my shoes'll get real dirty from all this... Ugh... Dirt... Ah jeez...

Internal whining and belly-aching aside, Evelyn could do little more than let out a sigh of discontent and slight frustration. But, turning back wasn't an option now. Well, it was, but the blonde was waay to stubborn for that. So, she began to walk, following the winding, ill-trodden path as it went, leading her further and further away from the city.

Still, it wasn't all bad. As she trekked, the young lady would stop and scan the various wild pokemon that were in the distance. She got to enjoy watching a family of bidoof frollic in the river, a couple of duckletts swim around and around with their gooft expressions, and even saw a cute little woopah-woopah surface.

Then there were also the ... The less adorable pokemon... Like... The sentient boulders with arms who thought it was a good idea to lie face-first down in the dirt and act as a living minefield to passer-by's. Evelyn made sure to take careful steps and never, ever, ever step on any stones or rocks larger than your average oran berry. 'Cuz if getting your shoes dirty wasn't bad enough, being cahsed by an angry rock-hulk was worse.

"Still... There's got to be more critters out here, right?" Eve mused, stopping to take a look over at a peculiar sight.

An old set of ruins... Or, well, maybe it was once just one big thing? It was kinda hard to tell, given how ruined it was... And yet, another place tos tay the heck out of! Who knew just what could be lurking in an old forgotten, never-visted place like that? There could be muck or mud, or Muks! Or worse, cobwebs and Ariados! Nope. Nopenopenopenopenope. Whatever lived in those ruins was most assuredly, and without any sort of scientific proof or confirmation, most definitely not going to be cute or adorable! So there was no need to go visit it.

Evelyn then paused her steps, looking around for a bit.

"I guess I'll look around, just for a little bit... I am here already, after all."

With that, Evelyn began to - cautiously, and minding her feet - search around the area for any additional pokemon. She wasn't searching for any particular breed, but rather just trying to see what - if anythig - else was around.

Stephanie Irwin

@Remram

Steph was unused to phones and the curtesy's involved with them, so she was a little confused by Freya's rejection of sharing contact info for now but didn't really press the issue. Steph just figured its what people did? She had never owned one before, and she was just...given a bunch of strangers contact information. Oh well, maybe later?

She was more interested in Freya's acceptance of a potential battle, but that too would have to be shelved for right now she was talking to the seedy-looking suspicious-ah ass looking motherfucker that was the stall owner. According to a die roll of her writers own, Steph didn't exactly seem...enthused by the stall owners response. She was still visibly dubious, only the slightest of eyebrow rises as he spoke.

Yeah nah, this guy was seedier than the bottom of a birds cage. Like he made Dr Kapoc, Arceus bless his soul, seem like a well adjusted and proper member of society, and that guy raised a Hydreigon. Also he seemed hard of hearing, as he said he didn't seem to catch everything she said? Weird, she thought she was pretty straight forward and clear in her articulation of her thoughts, but that also just sowed more suspicion in the girls mind. After all, it could just be a ploy to change the subject or ignore what she said. It was probably that, in her mind at least.

So now that he went to show her, and her gaze fell upon the mighty and powerful Pokemon he had been boasting about, advertising so loudly and proudly....and she was left with a blanker look than a Espurr. Without a change in facial expression, her head slowly tilted towards her phone as it began to list off the pokedex entry, as her gaze shifted from the scared little critter in front of her, to the rotom phone, back to the little critter, back to the phone, to Freyja, to the rotom phone, to the critter, to Dusk's matching blank look, then finally back to the stall owner.

"....Raylly?" Thats all the mostly speechless girl could utter as she pinched the brow of her nose. She had met her fair share of shady individuals and crooks in her time, all sorts of scammers and con artists she had seen on tv or read about in books, newspapers and the like. But this guy? Was he just....stupid or something? Like, he could've picked something...easy. Why try all this bullocks with this little guy? She had half a mind to just whack him, but she knew better than that. In this instance anyway.

Letting out a loud sigh, her blank look slowly changed to one of...pity. Annoyance also, but mostly pity as she stepped forward and put her hand on the mans shoulder.

"Thaht tuff huh?" Life mustn't have been kind to these man for him to have fallen to such lows, it was the only explanation. Steph couldn't feasibly reason this man to be that stupid to try and pawn this little guy off in such a manner. A slow shake of her head followed.

"Shooah whoy nawt, ill tyke ih'." In perhaps a surprising turn of events, Steph accepted what she figured was probably a scam. But better she got scammed than someone else who really needed the money right? Besides, she didn't want the poor little guy to fall into some other crooks hands if this loser couldn't sell it more legitimately. Plus it was kinda cute, if you squinted hard enough. "I'll laeh' ya off weeth a wahnin thiies toime, buh' dawnt laeh' me cahtch troyin thiies shih' aguyn ya heah?"

A threat? Nay, a promise it was. If her rarely used serious tone wasn't enough of a hint in that regard, then the look she shot him, one that would leave most people sweating like a bag of Meowths at a Boltund meet, as she took the whimpods ball and went to pay the man...however it is one paid with the phone would certainly help strike the fear of Arceus into the poor man. She actually didn't know how to pay though, as she hadn't paid all that much attention in the lab, if it was even covered then. She didn't know either way. She was busy introducing herself to everyone after all.

So she might have to ask Freya, otherwise with that business out of the way and hopefully the man left packing his bags and going off to a more honest and hardworking life, as unlikely as it was, Steph was just left shaking her head as she turned to Freya again.

"Thaht was just sahd innih'? couldve at layst hahd somethin moah intoimiduytin, loike a....anythin else." Still shaking her head as she spoke, she supposed since she had three pokemon now she could go to that trainer school? Maybe catch a Machop on the way. "Hy do ya knaow wheah the uh triner school is? Nawt raylly frawm round heah, and ya side yah weah a locul sao Oy figured yah would probahbly knaow some good duyahctions t' geh' theah haeh. Oy heahd somethin abeow' a Pokemon egg yah cahn geh' faw baytin the people theah, buh' ya nayded thray pokemawn t' entah. Oy gawt thray naow, sao figured whoy nawt roigh'?"

Whether she got directions or Freya offered to guide her there herself, Steph wasn't too fussed on either. She wasn't familiar with Grand Glory all that much, mostly just from the tourist maps and whatnot and even then Steph wasn't great at navigating big cities like this without a little bit of help. Of course, she would have to stop off at a PokeCenter first before she challenged the trainer school, to heal Steven if nothing else, but also probably to heal the Machop she would catch when she passed where she saw them earlier.

But first, there was something that was a bit more pressing that only really to came to mind now as she remembered it.

"Buh' befoah Oy do, Oy wahnna say whahts gaowin on ovah theah." Pointing out where the people were circling where the fight was breaking out, unless that turned out to be boring in which case Steph would just go check out the fishing store, thats where her interest was currently pointing her towards. After all, Pokemon battles was what got her into wanting to be a trainer in the first place. Of course a fight would get her attention! Unless it was an unimportant event and more a flavour text event happening in the background, then she would rather poke her head into the fishing store as previously mentioned.

Nils
______________________________
[ cs ]

Location:Grand Glory City: Sewers

And just like that, all three of the new kinds of pokemon the duo encountered were handily captured. Nils now also had a baseline for comparison for any future captures... if the money he got was more, less, or the same, he'd roughly be able to tell a pokemon's rarity. Or so he expected anyway. He'd just have to catch more to really test things out. And speaking of captures, he picked up the pokeball containing his first ever captured pokemon, patting Tors on the head as he did so. Sure Rattata was a common pokemon, but there was something to be said for the feeling of elation at one's first real capture. Despite the fact he was currently in a dirty, dank sewer, Nils was feeling great! He'd gotten his starter, Tors, who he couldn't be happier with, had won his first battle against a friendly rival, and now had successfully captured his first pokemon with a ball!

He didn't want to spend a lot of time thinking on this new one's name, so he just went with the first thing that came to mind... Rau. Yeah, that was fitting enough. He released Rau, letting the injured rat get its bearings first before he gently patted its head as well. "Welcome to the team buddy," he said.

The dark-type Rattata, newly named Rau, tolerated the petting before giving Nils a nod. Then it ran back over to its slice of pizza before any other sewer-dwellers got any bright ideas. He'd worked hard for that slice!

While Rau pulled its food closer to its new trainer for protection and finished eating, Nils looked over at Clarissa and Sir Lopsalot to check on them. He'd thought about what Clarissa said, about the nature of the pokemon that must live down here. It wasn't something he'd really considered before, since Frostford City didn't have anything close to a waste system like this.

"Places like this, people avoid them mostly as do many Pokemon from what I understand. It's dark here, but not like a cave or such, and is both manmade and in many ways unpleasant and harsh in its own way I think...any Pokemon living here might be just as unique, or different from what might be found in the park or elsewhere here in Grand Glory City."

"And if there's any Pokemon from before the city was made, or something crying down here alone in the dark, I want to find them, maybe, and-....and......"
Clarissa

"...yeah, I get it. If there's a pokemon feeling misunderstood, you want to understand them, and if they're lonely, you want to show them some affection. Right?" It was much the same for pokemon as it was for people. Nobody liked to be shunned just for being different, especially if they couldn't help it. The creatures that lived down here were either born adapted to it, or must have been pushed down here. And instead of hiding the strange parts of themselves while up on the surface, they just hid themselves entirely down here. Maybe they even felt trapped.

...well, Nils was not about to compare himself to a sentient pile of sludge or anything, but he did understand what some of these pokemon could be feeling. He really did. So if like Clarissa thought there was something down here that needed a ray of hope, or just someone to understand them, then they couldn't up and leave just yet without trying to find them.

"It's dark, hard to see, smells terrible, and the chances of catching some infectious disease down here is probably higher than it should be..." he said, and then scoffed, shook his head, and smiled at his fellow trainer. "...but let's keep going. If you think someone down here needs some help, let's go see what we can do."

That is if Clarissa felt her pokemon could still handle it. On that note, Nils withdrew some medicine from his bag and beckoned the Rattata with a now full belly to his side so that he could patch it up quickly. Better to have his team at as healthy as possible in case they ran into anything really dangerous.

[ Use Potion on Rau (A-Rattata) ]

After that it was deeper into the sewer system, searching for anything else of interest (even if Clarissa decided to take a break). Secret hideouts? New pokemon? Someone's trash that would turn out to be treasure? The source of that noise, which Nils could only just start to hear? It was faint, but it might sound like crying...?

[ Search for Pokemon, etc. ]

But of course, since it probably wouldn't be so easy to just stumble upon what they were looking to find, Nils couldn't pass up the opportunity to do some training for both his Mudbray and Rattata. He didn't go out of his way to battle, but if any of the pokemon down there took exception to the trainers encroaching on their territory and opted to get aggressive, then those were the prime targets for Tors and Rau to get more battle experience with.

Clarissa Ryte

Grand Glory Sewer Network, Grand Glory City

A small sigh escaped the psychic's lips as the second Pokeball finally stopped shaking, letting her know the Pokemon inside had been caught. It was as if she'd been holding her breath a bit, though, without even thinking about it. Sir Lopsalot, however, wasn't as well for the wear at the moment either. He'd taken a faceful of the Poison Gas move used by Trubbish, now Scrapper, and that wasn't the best even if his HP was still in realtively good condition. At the same time, when she walked over to him and bent to pick him up so they could-

"Bun! Bun....bun bunbun."

Really? But he-...ok, fine. It didn't make her rather happy, but if he pushed his luck too much he'd have no choice in the end.

"Alright...but you will stay in the Pokeball until we need you most, ok? Please."

The Buneary lightly nodded as he was sucked back into his Pokeball and placed on Clarissa's hip once more. It was her condition for keeping him down here longer after getting poisoned, otherwise he'd take more damage from it all just wandering around until they had to turn back. Yet if he was refusing to turn back this early on despite things she could only prod him so much over it, and perhaps he was still a tiny bit sore from his prior failure to win the battle as well. The stubborn, but sincere, little thing he was. But she didn't even have to try to read his mind to tell that, and he didn't have to be human to get the idea of what she was wanting to do when she'd walked over to him first.

It was then, as she went over her two new Pokemon and looked at the Pokedex itself about them, that she heard Nils speaking to her. The psychic's head would pop up, gaze attentive the more he spoke.

"...yeah, I get it. If there's a pokemon feeling misunderstood, you want to understand them, and if they're lonely, you want to show them some affection. Right?"
Nils

T-That...that was right. Part of her was embarassed she'd let some of that sentiment slip in terms of emotion, but at the same time her mind seemed to sigh with relief at the prospect that he seemed to get it well enough as well. Grasped the idea of what she'd been thinking and had attempted to, even if without too much thinking on her part, communicate. Whatever it was down here, if it was alone and crying and sad and had lost its home or such, it was a rather 'heart on sleeve' type of emotion there but it was also one she felt she could relate to well enough. Perhaps more than she should have, admittedly, but she felt guilty for that part all the same within her own mind.

That was why-

"It's dark, hard to see, smells terrible, and the chances of catching some infectious disease down here is probably higher than it should be..." he said, and then scoffed, shook his head, and smiled at his fellow trainer. "...but let's keep going. If you think someone down here needs some help, let's go see what we can do."
Nils

...For the first time since letting Amelia pet Sit Lopsalot, the edges of Clarissa's mouth turned upwards a noticeable but minuite bit. A tiny, almost unnoticeable, smile. A rarity in her life by far, but for it to be the second one in the day? Well, it must have been a good day so far then! But it was as much as she allowed herself to express such emotion, wheras a tinge of worry that would suddenly go off in her mind would push back hard to assert her usual stoicism once more. Ahem. Yes, she had to keep control. Not too much letting out emotion. She...she had to be careful, ever watchful, ever always.

"Yes, let's find it and see what we can do."

While Nils could heal up his new catch, however, Clarissa would let out her two new Pokemon from their balls. She had to give them a good look, pick a nickname, and see what the Alolan Grimer had been holding that had caused it to heal some over the battle's course. Ultimately, seeing the nature and personalities of the two Pokemon, the psychic would also decide on a pair of names: Lady Goowin (the Grimer) and Scrapper (the Trubbish)! Those were good-sounding names, weren't they? They felt fitting. However, she would take the apparent Black Sludge item from Lady Goowain, mostly as she tried to bop Scrapper on the head for some reason, and return her to her Pokeball. A proud lady to be sure, buuuut she would be sent back to Kapoc as soon as they were done in the sewers as well. As for Scrapper, he would softly speak up a moment as her attention came to him after putting Lady Goowain up and-

"Trub trub?"

-...he would be staying on the team for now. That was what her gut and her heart told her anyways. In that vein, Clarissa would gently pat the bipedal sapient garbage bag on the head after handing him the Black Sludge to keep for now. Scrapper seemed to regard the sludge with a mild awe for a moment, though, before smiling happily at it and then back at her in turn as he tucked it away on his little body to hold. She then leaned down to apply her one Potion to the little guy as well, and he grabbed her arm with his own little hands in turn in the silence.

[Used Potion x1 on Scrapper]

Now then, it was time to move onward! After all-

That creepy crying deep in these smelly sewers wasn't going to find itself.

Clarissa, with Scrapper now out and ready to go, would follow close with Nils and his Pokemon to go deeper into the sewers! She had no idea what they'd find aside from garbage and the obvious sorts of Pokemon they'd met so far, but....they would be seeing sooner than later, she figured, in the end. Secrets unknown? The source of the crying? A hidden cavern? Etc?

Still, she'd also not go out of her way to battle. She would, however, seek to train Scrapper and Sir Lopsalot against any Pokemon that attacked her and Nils or got aggressive. She would only do so with Sir Lopsalot, however, until Sir Lopsalot had right at half health left though. He had to save his strength for emergencies! But Scrapper? Him she'd keep going as long as it was safe and reasonable to do so, since he was of lower level in the end.

"Riolu, huh..." Jason smiles at the little blue Pokemon and waves at it before laying his head back against the tree with a long breath. "Alright, glad to solve that mystery...if it's alright with you, little fellow, I'm gonna just sit and rest for a moment. You're certainly welcome to join me." He pats the ground next to him before relaxing again. "You lead me on a good chase, but I do want to apologize for stressing you." Jason wouldn't lie, he enjoyed the feeling of the quiet around him, listening to the wind whispering through the trees and smiling. "Must be lonely out here without any other Riolu around, huh little friend?"

Valerian beamed the moment the Pokéball clicked shut. He rushed over, picked it up delicately, and held it up as if he’d just won the Grand Festival. “Victory! You see that, Aurelia Rose? Precision. Grace. Timing. And not once did we compromise our standards.”

Aurelia Rose buzzed approvingly, though she seemed more interested in circling the Pokéball like a curious sibling meeting the new baby.

Valerian turned his full attention to the girl now that the battle was done. “You witnessed that, yes?” he said with a smile. “A dazzling display of Fairy-type style and grace. Our opponent didn’t stand a chance!” He paused, then added with a little humility, “Though I suppose the Petilil held her own. She’s earned the honor of joining our team.”

“I don’t believe we were properly introduced earlier,” he said, stepping toward her with all the calm elegance of someone who had not had a minor meltdown over receiving a Bug-type. “You were at the lab, yes? With the Phantump?” He nodded toward her companion, giving the Ghost-type a polite smile. “Charming, in a spooky, woodland sort of way. I am Prince Valerian Hardrada. Of the Hardrada royal line.”

He didn’t quite wait for her to respond before continuing. “As much as I’d love to chat longer here, I’m afraid I’ve just completed a rather taxing battle. Emotionally, more than physically. And my team could use a touch of professional care. Would you care to walk with me to the Pokémon Center?” He tilted his head slightly, offering his most princely smile. “You seem like the thoughtful type. I wouldn’t mind the company.”

With Aurelia Rose fluttering just behind him, still gripping the freshly caught Petilil’s Pokéball, and racking his brain about what to nickname his new Pokémon, Valerian began heading down the path toward the Center.

"Yahoo! You guys are so awesome! Archie cheered as the Hippopotas was finally defeated, leaving Bravos and Rift to level up and get stronger. The battle's not over though; even when the Hippopotas fainted, the Sandstorm was still raging on and their Pokémon will only keep getting chip damage the longer the battle kept going. Cacnea's Sandveil was also making it impossible to land a decent hit on it.

"Let's keep going, Bravos!" "Ches! Bravos called out in agreement, feeling pride in itself for defeating an opponent's Pokémon for the first time with the help of Rift. Still, the Spiny Nut Pokémon grunted when it got chip damage from the Sandstorm.

"Chespin!" Bravos yelled in pain when it got hit by the Cacnea's Poison Sting. It's super effective!

"No!" Archie looked in fear at the situation they were in. Thankfully, Bravos wasn't poisoned by the attack but it still dealt super effective damage. Rift managed to land a clean hit but with Cacnea's ability to have a chance of evading their attacks plus the Sandstorm, the thief could still turn this back around if he played his cards right.

Archie gritted his teeth. What should he do? Bravos' only attacking move was Vine Whip which would deal not-effective damage on another Grass type. It was too late for a Growl. Its only move left was Wide Guard.

In order to win this battle, they had to be creative and think outside the box. Perhaps something... crazy?

"Bravos, listen to me!" He called out to his Chespin who looked back at him while pressing its paw on the part of its body where the Poison Sting hit. Archie hated seeing his Chespin like this but he had to do something quick. "Use Wide Guard and push it against the Cacnea!"

"Ches?" Bravos looked at him in confusion but seeing the determination in its Trainer's eyes made it believe in itself too. "Chespin, Ches!" It nodded in understanding and quickly jumped in front of Rift, taking the damage of Absorb for its teammate instead. It thankfully dealt non-effective damage.

Bravos then held its paws in front of him and a huge wall of yellow hexagons formed in front of him as wide as the alleyway they're in. "Ches... Pin! It started to push forwards, scooping up the sand in the process until the Wide Guard made contact with Cacnea.

Bravos grunted in effort, pushing back against the sand and the Cacnea who's surely not backing down without a fight. "You can do it, Bravos! Fighting!" Archie called out in support of his Chespin. Despite all the damage it received, it's still holding on strong, but for how long?

Amelia remained silent as she watched the boy from the lab went about catching the Petilil. While she watched, she tried to recall him from the lab before remembering he was the one who had been despairing because he had gotten a Bug-Type pokemon. She didn't really approve of his reaction back then and when he finally turned to her, asking if she had seen, she slowly shook her head, a small frown on her features as she looked at the ground.
"N-no, I only saw... the bit at the end. But I... don't approve of battling as a means to catching pokemon. I think... I think it's no different from bullying. It would be better to talk to them. Pokemon are... suposed yo be our friends... right? Shouldn't we... try to talk before battling?" She said, her face still looking at the ground, scared she might have upset the boy.

Said boy proceeded to introduce himself, calling himself a Prince and a member of a royal family. This simply caused the child before him to tilt her head in confusion as she looked back up at him.
"S-so, you're actually... part of royalty? You're not pretending?... A-am i going to grt in trouble... for talking to you... so rudely?" She asked, clearly scared of the possibilityof getting in trouble for insulting Valeriannow. Thankfully he switched topics but the thought was now in the back of her head. "Y-yes! I was... at the lab. My name is Amelia... I remember you... not liking your partner... when they were... given to you... i felt bad for them."

It was after this that Valerian asked if she would accompany him to the pokecenter. She looked around but sensing no Ghost-Types, she figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to head back incase Clarissa and Nils came back early. She also wasn't sure she could refuse, if he really was a prince. As they walked, she would see him looking at his new partner, clearly in thought. If she had to guess, it was likely for a nickname. She didn't nickname her pokemon herself but she figured she might be able to help. Hopefully speaking up wouldn't get her in trouble.
"You named your Cutiefly after some sort of... rose, right? Since Petilil evolves into Lilligant and... they both have Lil in their name... maybe you should name it after some sort of... lily?"

Valerian blinked at her quietly. For a moment, he didn’t know what to say. No one ever questioned him like that. Or if they did, they certainly didn’t do it while looking at the ground like they might be vaporized for the offense. “I… suppose that’s a fair point,” he said after a pause. “It is a little barbaric when you say it like that.” He looked down at the Pokéball in his hand. “But as I understand it, battling is a part of being a trainer. Some Pokémon won’t even speak to you unless you prove yourself. I wasn’t hurting her, I was challenging her. Testing compatibility so to speak.” He held the ball up slightly. “And I think she understood. She fought back, after all.”

When she asked if he was actually royalty, Valerian looked back over with an amused smile. “Well, I don’t expect anyone to bow or curtsy in my presence if that’s what you’re worried about.” He said with a chuckle. “It’s not like I’m going to have you thrown in a dungeon for being honest. I’m not that kind of prince.”

Her next words hit him hard. He looked visibly uncomfortable. “I… Yes. I did say that. About Aurelia Rose.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Not one of my best moments… I’m not exactly comfortable with Bugs… I’m still not… But she’s… grown on me.”

Aurelia Rose buzzed proudly at his side, as if she’d known all along that he would come around.

Valerian tilted his head when she made her naming suggestion. “Hm… Yes… But I can’t just name her Lily. That would be too obvious. How about, Camellia? Not a lily, exactly. But it still fits the garden theme. And it’s elegant.” He paused. “Thank you,” he added, after a beat.

Amelia's fears grew as Valerian remained silent after her initial comments, to the point where she visibly flinched once he began speaking only to pause. Thankfully, it appeared he wasn't angry at her and even agreed on some level. He still defended his choice to battle, to which she nodded.
"I... know that battling is something trainers inevitably do. I just... think if we're going to try and capture a pokemon, unless it's clearly hostile, we should try to talk first. That way, we're not just ripping them from their homes for our own greed." She said, still struggling to meet his gaze.

Thankfully, he seemed to take no offense to her earlier words. This helped her relax a bit as they walked along. Valerian responded to her suggest for a nickname in a gentle manner and Amelia nodded in understanding.
"They're your partner so... I really don't have a say. But I think it's a nice name. I hope they like it." She said before a question occurred to her. "Mister Valerian, if you really are a prince... why are you doing this? Why... why go on a journey?"

Meanwhile, as they walked, Phantump floated behind them. It had not scared ANYONE yet. This would not do. If there were new people, it had to scare at least one of them, excluding his trainer. And there had been so many new people and he had yet to scare a single one! This would not stand! So, once they were engrossed in their conversation and not paying attention to him, Phantump floated up behind Valerian, getting as close as they could without alerting him, before suddenly shouting.

TUUUUUUUMMMMMMMP!!!!!!

Having only been a bit aware of his actions because of her abilities, Amelia was still cause off guard abd jumped at the sudden shout, a hand shooting to her chest as she felt her heartbeat quicken. Thankfully, it wasn't anything serious and she quickly breathed a sigh of relief.

Valerian scratched his chin in thought as they strolled. He had to think about his answer to Amelia’s question. “I suppose… I wanted to prove something,” he said softly. “Not just to my family or the world, but to myself. Everyone knows me as ‘His Highness,’ and yes, I do enjoy the attention, the glamour, the privilege. But it’s hard to know if people see me.” He looked down at the Pokéball in his hand, then glanced at Amelia with a rare moment of sincerity. “When you’re born into a crown, your path is already written. But this journey? This is mine.”

And then the Phantump jumped out, and Valerian screamed. Not a dignified yelp. Not a startled gasp. A high pitched, absolutely undignified, startled shriek. He spun around, one hand clutching his chest, the other dramatically bracing himself against a nearby lamppost. “By the blessed branches of Xerneas!” he gasped. “What unholy trickery is that?!”

Aurelia Rose was completely unbothered by this. She flew up to the Phantump, and booped him on the forehead with one of her legs.

“You—!” he pointed an accusing finger, and then promptly turned back to Amelia. “Is he always like this?!” But there was no real malice in his voice. Exasperation, absolutely. But even through the theatrics, he seemed more rattled than angry. He straightened his posture, brushing off his jacket like the moment hadn’t happened. “Well. I suppose some ghosts have to keep up appearances.”

After taking a breath, he returned back to her original question. “And what about you? You don’t strike me as the Gym Challenge type.”

After the rather undignified display from Valerian and getting a chance to collect herself, Amelia glanced over at her partner, who was laughing at the reaction Valerian had given, only spotting once Rose bopped him on the head, at which point it fell down to snickers as he floated over to her side. Amelia could only give Valerian an apologetic smile as she shook her head.
"I've been stopping him all day but I doubt he meant any harm. He probably just finds scaring people funny and he finally got a chance at a... ah... victim I think is the right word." She said. "I don't know if he will try again so you might want to be a bit alert. We haven't been together long enough for me to know, so I can't tell you what he will and will not do. Still, I'm sorry for the scare he gave you. Hopefully it will be the last.

But um... back to what you said earlier. If you want to be seen for yourself... maybe you... shouldn't say you're the prince? It seems... a bit um... counterproductive. If people know you're the prince... will they really treat you as anything else? Will you truly know if they're treating you as... you or are they treating you as the prince?
"

It was then that Valerian turned her earlier question back on her. She fell silent for a few seconds before looking up at the sky.
"I'm not. I'm simply traveling to travel. To spread my wings and be free. Home was a cage. If I go back... I might never be allowed to fly again."

Whew, things had recovered nicely. The receptionist was now quite pleased - with her, specifically. She considered what she aught to be paid to look into a problem pokemon, and what a mechanic or other maintenance services might cost the apartment complex.

You had to start high, right? “Alright, I’ll give you a bargain. 7000 GP.”

She named her price, and then looked at David for a moment before coming back to the receptionist, “and.. 4000 for him.” If David complained, she would lower it by 500 at a time.

The PokèWorld equivalent of 110 bucks, all together. Perhaps a little steep, but she expected haggling. Or, the place was rich enough to just pay that, and she should have gone higher. She’d find out.

Audrey watched as Bravos pushed the wideguard towards the Cacnea, her eyes lit up with excitement. "What a good stratergy! Nice thinking!! she cheered before grasping her options. And then with a quick flicker of idea, she decided to join in. Her voice loudly declaring, "Rift! Time for some teamwork! Push that wideguard with Bravos!". Rift looked back and nodded, determination filling his eyes as he leaped in, pushing the wideguard alongside Bravos. She hoped it'd be enough.

Yes, dirt, rocks, and grass as far as the eye can see because it turned out when you exit a major city or town in the world of Pokemon you are sent straight to the wilderness though perhaps in the context in this world it makes sense. If people and Pokemon were to exist in the same world then it made sense that much of the region was left relatively untouched and could perhaps explain why so many of these towns and cities are so built up as to avoid destroying as much as the natural wildlife as possible. Well, just the theory courtesy of the narrator.

As our aspiring model explored the natural splendor of Route 4, she looked around for Pokemon that would fill in the empty remaining spots of her team. Of course, she most likely looked for cute Pokemon though in some cases cuteness was in the eye of the beholder.

Near the riverbanks were these little blue elephants with red rectangular bars resting horizontally on their trunks and red markings at the end of their long ears. They went on about their business, eating grass or wrestling against each other in the mud.

Pokedex Entry #231- Phanpy, the Long Nose Pokémon. This Pokémon lives and nests on a riverbank. After playing in the mud, it won't be able to settle down unless it washes its body. It is far stronger than it appears. If a Phanpy is swinging its trunk around and your arm gets hit by it, your arm bone will shatter.

Along the river there were lily pads that floated in place of the gentle current though there were some floating near the edge of the river... Those were not lily pads but Pokemon! As they climbed up on the shore it revealed that they had blue spherical bodies with nubs for legs, yellow beaks, and googly eyes.

Pokedex Entry #270- Lotad, the Water Weed Pokémon. The leaf on its head is naturally dirt repellent and will stay clean even after transporting Pokémon that are covered in mud.

However, as she explored she heard someone call out to her. "Hey lady, mind moving out frame? You're in my shot." If she looked to her right or left she wouldn't see anyone. Evelyn would need to look up to see a blonde boy around her age on top of a particularly large mossy rocky with a Rotom Phone hovering by his side.

His eyes trailed her own Rotom Phone hovering by her side reading the entries of wild Pokemon. "Actually, it's a long shot since you don't look the type, but are you a trainer?"

What does Evelyn do?

@Lunarlord34

At the gentle touch on his shoulder, the slimy grin of his turned into a look of shock at someone understanding him followed by the welling of tears in his eyes as actual shame rooted in his gut. Steph used Empathy! It was super effective! Conman now inflicted Shame! "J-just take it. Just take it away from me!" He said as he broke down sobbing with his head against the crate he used as a table.

Freya followed Steph, looking behind at the man who was just having an emotional breakdown and then back to Steph. What a terrifying person. And then Steph made a comment about how pathetic he was. "Yeah, definitely not in the best of ways I'm sure..."

In response to Steph's question, at least what she understood to be a question, she said, "It's located in the park, uh, Grand Glory Park, which is in the middle of the city. It's a pretty tough gauntlet where you have to go through their 'Elite Trio' and their champion." Freya was ready to help lead her there, but it seemed like the Bogan already had other plans. Her eyes followed Steph's finger and landed upon the crowd in the center of the docks.

"Oh, the battle circle. Seems like a real battle is going on there." She followed Steph through the crowd. "Sorry, oh, um, pardon me." She said as she slipped through, doing her best to not block anyone who was shorter than her. Eventually they made it to the front of the crowd where they saw what could only be described as a complete blowout. A sailor was just returning his Pokemon into his Pokeballs while his opponent's Pokemon nary had a scratch. A blue metallic creature with four menacing large legs and a metal x-across its face and a floating orange washing machine with blue plasma crackling around it.

Both Steph and Freya's Rotom Phones hovered in front of them and read out the entries.

Pokedex Entry #376- Metagross, the Iron Leg Pokémon. It firmly pins its prey using its four claws and large body. Then Metagross uses the mouth on its stomach to chew its prey to bits.

Pokedex Entry #479- Rotom, the Plasma Pokémon. This Rotom has possessed a washing machine that uses a special motor. It blasts out water to get enemies to back down.

Their trainer returned them to their Pokeballs and with a content grin.

"Thank you, thank you! While you all made a lovely warm up, I have a league to challenge! Unless there is someone here who wishes to try their luck against me!"

Freya looked around, her brow arched at how agitated the crowd was. "When the city was first being built, sailors and construction workers would battle to kill time. A lot of times people would put bets on who would win, but it's typically not so serious..."

"This guy is too strong! He already took down five of us!"

"This is unfair! Where the hell did this guy come from?!"

"Hell yeah! Pay up again you bastards! I am on a roll!" A young woman with obscenely long wavy deep green hair tired up into a ponytail shouted triumphantly. She pumped her arms excitedly.

A tall young man with spiky crimson hair stood by this rather excitable girl with a deadpan expression."Should a lady in your position really be talking like this?"

She looked up at him and gave him quite the stink eye. "Take that stick out of your ass and have some fun for once in your sullen life!"

"That I cannot do, lady Lindgren."

"Would it kill you just to call me by my name?"

@Crusader Lord@Shazamrock

Right on cue, they would both hear something wail. It sorta sounded like, Bufffffff! The sound echoed throughout the sewers.

Well they walked around the sewers and well, yeah, it was a sewer alright. It was like a labyrinth, a place of never ending twists and turns as sewage trailed in the channel next to them. Occasionally the water would gurgle and bubble as if there was something underneath the sewage or it could have just been some pockets of, well, gas rising to the surface. Best to not think about that. Occasionally they would find some graffiti and tags sprayed on the walls from vandals that would sneak down there, not too different from a couple of trainers making their way around the sewers right now.

If they were trying to scavenge for items, well, would you really want to scavenge in the sewers of all places? And if they even found something, would they even want it?

While they traversed the sewers they did a little bit of training. Now the sewers were not a natural environment where Pokemon would typically thrive. After all, the Pokemon that resided down there either were imported, mutations of trash after people moved into the city in droves, or were technically an invasive species. However, that had not meant there were not any other Pokemon down there.

There were these almost bug-like quadrupedal things with metal encasing its body and a very dark blue near black underbelly. They weren't many, but the ones that were there trying to gnaw the metal tubing that contained the power lines for what could be assumed to be for the city's electricity though they avoided any pipes that carried sewage. Perhaps it was after trial and error.

Pokedex Entry #304- Aron, the Iron Armor Pokémon. It eats iron ore—and sometimes railroad tracks— to build up the steel armor that protects its body.

So, along the way they fought the usual territorial poison types, scurrying rats, and metal quadrupeds and for the most part it was actually relatively easy. It helped that half of the wild Pokemon were quadruple weak to fighting type moves or immune to poison. However, Scrapper was not exactly a powerhouse so he needed some assistance to get a knock out. Also, lucky for Tors and Rau they were not inflicted with the poison status even after fighting so many poison types.

Sir Lopsalot is now level 7!
Scrapper is now level 6! Scrapper learned Acid Spray!
Tors is now level 7!
Rau is now level 6!

Well, you fought plenty of Aron too. Where were these things coming from anyway? Well, if they followed the sound of the crying they would find a hole in one of the walls. It was big enough that if a person, or at least a teenager, could crawl through it and make it to the other side.

Now what?

@Zarkun

The Riolu gave Jason the biggest stink eye that it could and yet it seemed to be conflicted. The blue little fox, dog thing refused to budge from its spot and yet it did not break its gaze with the very blue haired trainer catching his breath against a tree. "Louuuu..." It said cautiously, as if waiting to see what Jason was going to do even if what he was going to do was nothing. What it did do was sit far away from Jason with its arms and legs crossed.

It was painfully obvious that this thing trusted Jason as far as it could throw him though it was not running away from him this time so it was progress. It was as if it was judging him, trying to get a read on Jason. He could feel as if it was staring into his soul though frankly speaking it may as well have been considering it could detect any living organisms aura.

"Lou." Its eyes focused on the Pokeballs on Jason's belt containing his Pokemon.

@Joshua Tamashii@Crimson Flame

Well after a bit walking and talking bonding time between the royal prince and the small medium arrived outside of the red roofed building with a big standard Pokeball hologram floating above the sliding glass doors. The sliding doors parted for the duo and they entered an interior that looked more like a lobby for a comfortable cafe or motel, filled with friendly and comfortable furniture that trainers of all skill levels were welcomed.

There was a dining area on one side and near the back of the building were accommodations for any trainer needing to rest their weary head and have a bath because dear God some of you are going to need it. Of course, there was a section where various PCs were lined up ready to be used to withdraw and deposit Pokemon to and fro their designated storage space. In your case, Kapoc's lab.

Of course, there was the all important Nurse Joy standing at her station with her ever pleasant smile, ever present in every Pokemon Center across Evig. Was it the same Nurse Joy or a different one? Don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to.

Next to the Nurse Joy station was another counter top that just had a sign that said Move Tutors returning soon!

Of course, Valerian was there to heal his Pokemon. Approaching the station, Nurse Joy gave him an upbeat smile and said, "Welcome! May I heal your Pokemon today?"

Of course, Valerian was there to heal his Pokemon. Once the Nurse Joy collected his Pokemon while in their Pokeballs and slotted them into a machine.

Nurse Joy handed him his Pokemon back."Thank you and stay safe!"

Well, now what?

@GremlinAgain@baraquiel

Now typically Wide Guard isn't actually an attack. It wasn't meant to be used as an attack, but to stop attacks that could hit multiple targets at once. It wasn't meant to deal damage. The key word was meant to. No one ever said that it couldn't be used as an attack nor could it be used under the right circumstances to inflict damage. So there was absolutely nothing stopping Bravos from conjuring a very wide barrier and just rushing towards the Cacnea with the biggest 'fuck it we ball' attitude the little hedgehog could muster.

"Cacnea, push back! The little cactus pushed back with its lanky arms with as much strength as it had, forcing the two Pokemon into a game of push. While the Cacnea had the advantage in base stats, Bravos had the level advantage so the two struggled in a stalemate until Rift came in for the assist and helped the Chespin push his Wide Guard forward.

"Nea! Neaaaaa!" The Cacnea cried out in a panic while it was being pushed back towards Sven. In fact, the combined might of Rift and Bravos rocketed forward at a much faster rate than either trainers could have expected and they were now hurtling towards Sven!

"Wait wait wait! The thief shouted with his hand held outwards in vein to ward off what was coming, but the next thing he knew his Cacnea and his face were pressed against the chain link fence behind him. "Owowowow! Come on let's talk about this!

Neaaaaa!

"You're gonna turn my face into ground beef!"

Suddenly, they could hear the sound of metal snapping. The combine might of these two little starters caused the fence to give away with a loud snap followed by Sven and his Cacnea slamming onto the ground like a sack of potatoes. The Cacnea and Sven were both covered in cross hatched marks from being pushed against the face so firmly. They kind of looked like those steaks with those really fake sear marks, except it was skin indents. They were completely out cold and his Pokemon automatically returned to their Pokeballs.

So, uh, victory?

Bravos is level 7!
Rift is level 7!
Archie and Audrey earned 950 PB.

Without warning, they heard someone shout behind them down the alley. "Hey! Are you kids alright?!" When they turned around they saw a white haired man run up to them, but when he saw the aftermath of their battle his steps slowed into a walk. Now that he was closer, they could see he was heavily tattooed with solid black all over his arms, his neck, and who knows where else. His ears were pierced with various silver earrings. They both got the feeling that they've seen him before, but they couldn't place the name or the face.

"Huh, you guys actually took care of it. Thank goodness. That old lady said something about two kids chasing after a purse thief and got worried." He gave them a friendly smile as he walked over to the thief and rummaged through his jacket before he pulled out a black leather purse and held it out to the two kids. "I believe this is what you're looking for." When either Archie or Audrey took it from the tattooed man, they watched as he heaved the scumbag over his shoulders. "Well, shall we return the purse?"

@CitrusArms@Zapdos

"Oh wow, that's cold. Maybe you would fit in with the other tenants here after all." They remarked in response to Regan low balling her companion's reward offer.

The receptionist scratched their chin at the offer though it was obvious that they weren't entirely onboard with the price. They proceeded with their very generous counter offer. 4000 PB for you and 1500 PB for your friend there, but I'll give you access to the rooftop. Trainers like you are always looking for Pokemon right? Well, there is definitely something that should be of interest to you two. A very tempting offer if I do say so myself.

No matter how rich someone or many others were, they were always willing to cut corners on costs. Somehow, it was understandable as to why they were still having electricity problems.

How do they proceed?

Ah, the great outdoors! Fresh air, blue nskies, green grass and... Dirty dirt... ANd.. grimey rocks... ANd rock-heads-with-arms that can rip your arms off if you piss'em off. Yup, the wonderful wonders of nature. Thankfully, Evelyn was distracting herself with the search for any additional pokemon along the route to be bothered by such trifling thoughts. No sir, not her. Not even the teensiest, tiniest bit concerned or bothered by the stains she'd have to scrub off her shoes or the potential danger of stepping, or falling in, to a puddle of mud.

But regardless, the blonde girl did manage to spot some new critters as she walked. The first to be spotted were the rather adorable elephant-like pokemon. At the initial sight of these trunk-nosed critters, Evelyn's eyes sparkled with an excited glint, the prospect of haviing found a new addition to her growing menagerie o--

"Oh..."

... And then she witnessed them wrestling in the mud. Getting all covered in goop and gunk and muck and all manner of dirty dirt and grime. Her enthusiasm was, well and proper, curbed at that point. WHen her rotom phone then proceeded to inform the young trainer further on these Phanpy, her expression changed once more. Especially when the bit about them being able to snap your arm with their trunk was brought up. A large sweatdrop formed on the side of Eve's head and she decided that... Evne if they were prone to personal hygiene and washing themselves off, she... Uh... She'd maybe come back... Later... Yeah...

Next up were the goofy little lotads. However, unlike the Phanpy, these things were... Well.. They... They kinda looked like a chew-toy that you'd give Growlithe, complete with making a ridiculous sound when they were bit on. Now her phone did say they stayed clean no matter what, but... Well.. No... No, she couldn't take one of these. Just look at them! Look. AT. Them! They looked like a rejected prize from a carnival stall or something! She sighed. It seemed that Route 4 wasn't exactly jam-packed with prime pokemon for the nabbing. Oh well, she still had some other affairs to deal with bef--

And then came a voice. A voice that told a 'lady' to get out of frame. Evelyn looked around, confused. There didn't seem to be any other women around... Not any close by to hear that voice at least. Eventually, her eyes found a big rock, that was mossy, and on top of said rock, stood, or sat, a young man.... Boy...? Wait... Wait a minute!

Her!? Was she the lady? And had this guy just told her, Evelyn, to get out of frame for his photo? Did this mook not realize he was looking at one of Evig's most beautiful women? Her presence in his photo would only enhhance it! Yet he had the nerve to tell her to step away and not be a aprt of it? That cheeky such-and-such... Eve, of course, gave him the biggest stink-eye you could give someone, but said nothing in response to his uncouth demand, stepping aside so she didn't interfere with his pwecious photography... The girl was about to leave, when yet another snarky comment escaped the boy's lips.

The golden-haired and golden-eyed girl turned her head and looked at the other trainer, her face cold as stone, her eyes even colder.

"And you don't look like a photographer." She said in the most clear-cut and deadpan tone of voice you can imagine. She also didn't, y'know, actually answer his question - beause why would she? The guy was a judgey, rude and uncultured mook.

Actually, the guy didn't look like much of anything. In fact, what the ever-loving Nidoqueen was he wearing!? Like... He just looked like he'd slapped togther whatever he could find in a closet and put it on and then walked out the front door without even checking himself in the mirror! There was no color coordination, to style, no theme, no nothing! Just a garbled mess of... Chaos! Cargo shorts with pants underneath them!? And what was that ... Jacket? Coat? Shirt!? Evelyn could not process this atrocity to fashion. Not only was this lout a rude prick, but he was also voiid of any sense when it came to clothes? She wanted to leave. Now. Get away before this ... Thing tried to engage with her furhter.

Besides, she had stuff to do!

Important stuff.

... Like..

...

-...

Oh, that's right!

She readjusted the visor cap on her head, straighened her own fetching shorts and made sure to check her top and jacket for smudges or dirt. Once she was content that she was in spick-and-span top-nothc condition, she reached for the three pokeballs on her belt, and with show-boatinga piroutte-toss, let her three partners come on out and enjoy the wilderness with her.

"Alright you three, we're going to do some training out here." Evelyn said - having now moved away from the unpleasant youth and his camera. In fat, she'd moved closer to the river, in particular, where there were some Duckletts and Bidoofs. It seemed the girl had a plan.

Alright, so those Duckletts must be either water-types or flying-types... That's great for Joltik. He should be able to handle them on his own. She looked at the duck-pokemon swimming around in the water. NExt, she turned to look at the beaver-rat-things. Hm... I'm not sure what those are, but... Growlithe and Sentret really need some practice... Maybe if they work together, they can handle a few of them? ... Yeah, Joltik and me will be nearby, so if things get rough, we can always step in. Alright, let's do this, Evee!

Now that her pokemon had gotten a brief chance to look around, sniff the air, take in the sights and greet one another in their usual energetic and playful manner, their trainer approached and crouched down next to them. She raised a dainty figner and pointed towards the riverbank.

"Joltik, we're gonna have you battle some of those duckletts, alright? Once you feel tired, come on back, okay? When he's done, you two will work together agajnst those bidoofs, got it Sentret and Growlithe?"

Joltik chittered excitedly.
Sentret saluted with a smile.
Growlithe just... Barked a happy bark.

It seemed they all understood the general just of Evelyn's plan. Her hope was that by working together, Growlithe and Sentret could avoid taking too much damage - especially since they were her weaker 'mons, and they didn't exactly have a lot of options for fighting. That was even more true for poor Sentret. Still, jsut to be sure and safe, the pretty young teen reached into her bag and withdrew a Potion, just to have on hand in case of an emergency. Still, Joltik was first up, and he'd hopefully have no trouble against the water-birds.

For now, Evelyn would watch over as first her Joltik would train against the local Duckletts, followed by her and Joltik watching over Sentret and Growlithe as they trained against the local Bidoofs.

Location: Grand Glory City: Sewers

It was sort of comforting to find signs of human activities down in Grand Glory's underbelly. The sewer system was just as large and twisted as a natural cave system, but unlike the latter there really wasn't any excitement to be had from being the first ones to explore the concrete caverns. Besides the ones that built it in the first place. At least seeing the graffiti meant other people had been down there before and presumably made it back out too. Nils didn't think that he and Clarissa would get lost down there (the urban exploration was far from a forest or mountain, but Nils was keeping track of where they'd come from as best he could), but thankfully even if they did they could just look up for any random manholes, then hoof it back to the pokemon center from wherever they ended up.

"You know, you almost get used to the smell the longer you're down here," Nils commented after one of the battles they duo found themselves in. It was kinda crazy really how just when he thought it was getting less bad, another poisonous pokemon would show up and spread a whole new odor around.

But stench alone wasn't enough to deter the two trainers! They followed the echo of the mysterious wailing, gradually getting closer while also gaining more experience alongside their pokemon. Eventually they started to encounter new kinds of pokemon, that were apparently eating the steel pipes and supports, which... didn't seem very safe. Had they been drawn to all of the construction in the city, and some had just happened to wind up down here? Or maybe they'd naturally gravitated to a place with so little competition for their 'food'... either way, it was probably a good thing to knock a few out or send them running, give the city's infrastructure a break from being chowed on.

In fact, maybe some relocation would be good too.

Since Tors knew a couple of super-super effective moves that made dealing with the little iron eaters easier than it looked, Nils made sure to throw a ball at the ones that didn't go down quite as fast.

[ Quick Catch Attempt: Aron ]

It took some time and more than a few battles to get there, but after exploring Nils and Clarissa came upon the source of the crying. Sort of. They'd hit what looked like a dead end, but the sound they'd been following definitely seemed to be coming from the other side.

Nils held his ear up to the hole in the wall, nodded to Clarissa, and then turned and stuck his head inside it. Tors (who'd been the most recent outside of his ball, swapping back and forth with Rau for battles) blinked, his ears standing straight up, and bit at the end of his trainer's coat as if to hold the boy back from just crawling inside.

"Don't worry buddy," Nils said as he pulled his head back out. Nils made a soft hmm noise, patted Tors lightly on the head, and finally turned to Clarissa with one hand on his hip and the other on his chin.

"It has to be on the other side of this wall, right? ...what do you wanna do? I think the hole goes all the way through, but it was hard to see far into it. We could try and find another way around."

Clarissa would nod in silent agreement with the boy's statement, though it was apt to note that Scrapper didn't seem to be affected by the smells for...rather obvious reasons. He didn't seem to like the proximity they had to Alolan Grimer along the way, but had become accustomed to assisting in battle and being assisted along the way as well at the very least. He seemed to enjoy not being alone in it all, perhaps, an adorable little smile on his face of all things as they went along. Not that it was all the easiest nor hardest of things to handle, she supposed. Sir Lopsalot, for his part, seemed to be apt to battle before returning to his Pokeball at her behest to avoid further ticking poison within his system. While he tried to put on a tough face, it only went so far as she could see the winces of pain and such as they went further in and went through more battles to boot.

Though as he'd first seen the new Trubbish on the team-

"...Bunbun."

*BONK*

"Biiiiiiiiish!"

One ear thumped the walking garbage bag out of frustration for poisoning him, perhaps somewhat inevitably at this venture in Clarissa's eyes. In return, the Trubbish had been knocked flat on its little back, though it had almost managed to dodge after some nervousness being in proximity to the former murder bunny Pokemon that had chased it down to ensure its capture prior. Cue Scrapper running to hide behind Clarissa's legs, and Sir Lopsalot breifly standing with crossed little arms in front of her staring between her legs at Scrapper. It was enough to elicit a sigh from her, though also she had to admit that the two hadn't had the best of days thus far (nor the worst perhaps). Scrapper was finally on a team and starting to adjust, it seemed, and the Buneary had endured a loss in battle and struck true against an Alolan Grimer before the little Trubbish had proved surprisingly resilient in his attempt to resist battle and capture.

"Hey, enough of that. You're both on the same team now, ok? I know it's been a tough day so far...but we can all do this, together, ok?"

It had taken a minute, during this little spat between battles, before the Buneary uncrossed his little arms and let out a sigh of his own. It seemed her plea had not hit deaf ears in this instance, though she wasn't holding it against Sir Lopsalot either in her own mind. Sometimes it took time to 'get over' something, even she had to admit that on her end. But even so, after Scrapper dared to pop out from behind her legs finally he seemed to walk over tentatively, nervously, and somewhat anxiously to the Buneary at first as she tried to encourage the two to 'make up' as it were. Tried to at least.

"Bun..."

Despite trying to look away initially, still feeling a tad sore from the day's events, Sir Lopsalot would finally look over to the Trubbish and almost mutter out something. In return, however, Scrapper would stare for a second....only to walk over and lightly pat the Buneary on the back gently, consolingly even. It was an odd thing that seemed to surprise Sir Lopsalot visibly a little bit, only for him to out of the blue return the same gesture not long therafter.

"Trub trub. Bish?"

"Bun. Bun bun. Bun!"

From there, the battles and travel had continued onward toward the source of the vague crying they'd heard. The cry of 'buff' was certainly something different than the cries of the other Pokemon down there for sure. It almost seemed desperate or crying for help, to her mind, though she had no idea for sure. Not to mention the Aron were, well, visibly eating the place in ways that didn't seem quite a good thing as well. Had they been here before the city, and popped up from some underground cave or such left undiscovered during the construction? Had they migrated there or been accidentally kicked off by trainers releasing them down here? There were other ideas, perhaps, but nothing they could sit about and just think on without wasting time and progress.

...But she was sure that a shower would be direly needed on all their parts after this, and the Pokemon Center would certainly be the place they all needed to go in that sense.

Still, during one of her and Nils' battles against an Aron (not the same one he tries to Quick Catch in) that didn't go down too fast to try to catch the psychic would take a moment to ask Nils to allow her to try to catch it. Sir Lopsalot's Power-Up Punch move was certainly useful by far against these little Pokemon, but while Nils had sought to catch one she wanted to as well along the way. Just to fill out her Pokedex and such, see what sort of moves and ability it had, etc.

[Quick Catch Attempt: Aron]

However the attempt went, though, the duo and their Pokemon would seem to move onward well enough. Indeed, as they followed they crying they wouldn't seem to find anything until-

[As] they followed the sound of the crying they would find a hole in one of the walls. It was big enough that if a person, or at least a teenager, could crawl through it and make it to the other side.

Nils

She nodded back at Nils before he stuck his head in, though her own mind was in a light rush of thoughts as well for her part. It was not the largest of holes, but it was enough it seemed that she or Nils could fit through it perhaps. Any of their Pokemon likely could as well, then, since they were smaller in size than them of course. Did they want to just take a glance inside, though, or perhaps send one of their Pokemon to take just a peek through, first? That could allow them to scout things with less risk, to themselves or their Pokemon alike, and help them get some idea of things.

Nils

Hmm...there was also another point to be made. Clarissa would nod back at Nils, but her gloved right hand came up to her own chin in thought all the same. Was there another way around to get in? If this was the only entrance, maybe to the Pokemon's den or such, then that would limit their options. Plus they could be searching all day if they tried to pin down another spot. The crying had led them here to this particular hole in the wall, though, and...well...the Pokemon they were hearing...hmm...

Well, in the end it couldn't be helped too much, yes? Even if the smells of the sewer had been overwhemling at first, dirt was something she was actually more accustomed to all the way back as far as Pyrite. Dirt and sand and all of that. Couldn't find much of things like this in Grand Glory City proper, really, so that meant one thing to her mind after some breif internal debate on the matter.

The psychic's hand would come down from her own chin, even as she seemed to roll up her sleeves without a second thought on the matter.

"If we tried searching for an alternate way in, we could find one. Likewise this might end up being the only entrance potentially. Tors seems worried enough about you going in, so I think I'll give it a try myself and see what's over there instead with Scrapper coming in with me."

Was it the smartest idea? Perhaps not, and even the currently Pokeball-contained Sir Lopsalot would have at least some form of hesitancy about this perhaps, but the Trubbish lightly tilted its body in curiosity as it looked at the hole and then back at her and then back at the hole. It looked then at Tors, seeing how nervous the Mudbray was about its own trainer even sticking a head in, before walking over and lightly patting it on the back in turn. He hadn't gone into this hole down here before, so it was certainly something different than the rest of the sewers he'd seen in his life so far. But he did kind of want to see what was over there...it piqued his own curiosity in turn, and since he wouldn't be alone that made it better! Right? Right.

"Trub. Trubbish!"

Was that supposed to be a reassuring tone? Well, he was trying his best at the very least to soothe the worries of one of his other compatriots if nothing else. Even so, the psychic withdrew a srunchy and began to quickly tie back her hair tightly for the crawl ahead all the same before looking back to Nils once more.

"At the very least, since your partner seems worried about you going in, I know you'll be back on this side in case we run into trouble and have to flee back through the hole. Though if you two did come along with, though, that might help if anything else is in there. In any case....here goes something."

Breathe in. Breathe out. In the nose, out of the mouth. Focus that mental energy. Focus. Relax. Good.

Clarissa would then begin to climb into the hole in the wall, seeking to go through to the other side, with Scrapper following right after her after taking a look at the sewer surroundings one last time. Nothing coming up on them in this particular moment? Whew. Good. Yet even so, as she would try to pass through the psychic would do something less than normal. She would open up with her telepathy, letting her powers open up some to 'look ahead' and try to get an idea if anything was over there and maybe what its potential mood was if nothing else. Like a gentle touch, meant to feel ahead and get some idea of things. It wasn't a set of actual eyes, but that's why she was climbing through in the first place really.

What would lie on the other side? She had no clue, but her Rotom phone was at least kept safe in an inner jacket pocket for now to avoid it getting covered in dirt. She figured that was at least the polite thing to do for it during this little escapade.
