After she became better than most of them, they told her to stop coming or they would report her. Charlotte prefers the presence of women over men. She has no desire to marry a man. Can heal external and internal wounds, including fractured bones and deeper burns, disregarding severity. Minorly damaged internal organs may be healed, but more severe damage may be beyond repair and may require a longer healing time. Nerves may remain damaged. Critical wounds, such as those resulting in the loss of limbs or damage to nerves, cannot be healed, but they can be closed. B A C K S T O R Y B A C K S T O R Y Prior to her birth, Charlotte’s mother was a staunch supporter of the Queen. She served at court as a Lady of the Bedchamber to Charlotte, Princess Royal, eldest daughter of King George III. Lord George Waldegrave died on 22 October 1789. Charlotte was born shortly after her father died, making her the youngest of six. In another world, maybe one without her innate healing abilities that made Charlotte an Enlightened, she would have died young. Her eldest brother drowned in 1794 after he had inherited the Earl title. The next eldest brother, John James Waldegrave, became the 6th Earl Waldegrave. The young Charlotte lived a comfortable life. John became an officer in the military and is rarely home. When it became apparent that Charlotte was Enlightened, he quickly sent her to St. Eustice's School. Charlotte has been attending the school since she was six. Her brother, John, is nervous about how to handle the situation with Charlotte. No one knew where the story began; some said it was a spiteful invention by jealous rivals, others a half-truth overheard in a misty alley. But the rumour spread like wildfire, fuelled by pointed glances and subtle gossip. ► Secrets While the viscount was still alive, whispers circulated in certain drawing rooms that Selina’s striking resemblance to her mother and little to her father was cause for suspicion. It was said, in hushed tones, that she might be the fruit of an unlawful union. Selina remained unaware of these insinuations until quite recently, when she happened upon her mother in a discreet conversation with a gentleman knight. The sight casted the long-shadowed doubts of society into a stark, undeniable reality. - | E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S CHECKMATE'S MERCY CHECKMATE'S MERCY Carrying physical pieces of chess, except the king, Selina can impose a multi-layer augmentation on allies and their abilities by designating a chess piece to a person - they must be within sight to apply. Once used, the associated chess piece crumbles into fragments of itself. Selina is limited by the pieces to a singular side on standard chess board each day, with a person only allowed a single augmentation at a time. Each chess piece linked to a different type of augment, but the nature of each piece is still being researched due to her late Enlightenment. Augment duration: 15 - 20 minutes Notes: ∙ Single piece ∙ Physically draining to use ∙ With Countess Harewood's permission, it seems the queen increases latent thinking? The countess does beat me in chess afterwards. Consequentially glides away a tad faster Augment duration: 30 - 32 minutes Notes: ∙ Dual piece ∙ Induces a craving for plump grapes? ∙ Very unremarkable at a glance, but a servant had not noticed a bleeding toe when he knocked against the door frame earlier ∙ Further experiments tests show a nulling of pain, does not transfer post-augment Augment duration: 5 minutes Notes: ∙ Dual piece ∙ When applied on the injured servant, the bleeding stopped almost immediately ∙ Servant noted feeling a tad lethargic after the power expiration Augment duration: 20 minutes Notes: ∙ Dual piece ∙ Unintended consequence causing me to run faster ∙ First documented chess piece, when Countess Harewood jumped up in a fit of rage during a match. She rose almost to the chandelier and down in a quick succession. Caused mass panic ∙ In further tests, a willing servant showcased an increase in acrobatics Augment duration: ??? Notes: ∙ Octuple pieces ∙ Less understood power, despite the numerous pieces ∙ Countess Harewood suggested something of a sacrificial nature. Mother agrees. WHERE THE CROWN LIES WHERE THE CROWN LIES While they are augmented, allied Chess pieces are able to roughly detect within a 500m radius where Selina is, and vice versa. B A C K S T O R Y B A C K S T O R Y Selina was born to privilege and polish, born as the only daughter to Elliot Nightingale, Viscount Latimer with ancestral holdings in the County of York, and Lady Agatha Vivian, a formidable woman with iron discipline hailing from a distinguished military family. From the outside, their union seemed ideal, but behind closed doors, the marriage was frayed. The viscount, despite his title, nursed a bitter inferiority complex towards his wife's confident bearings and family's legacy of decorated officers. Her strength highlighted his weaknesses - an uncertain temper and lack of conviction. In time, he turned to empth, drinking, and gambling for escape. What began as an indulgence soon became dependence, a slow spiral into debts and disgrace. By the time Selina turned into the marriageable age of 17, the viscount fortune collapsed. Whispers turned to scandals. Courtships halted. Debtors came knocking. The viscount died suddenly, some claimed from illness, others quietly murmured suicide. Selina remembers the silence more than the aftermath - the empty stares, the cold dinners, and a realisation that everything would collapse. With no male heir, the title fell into abeyance and the estate was claimed by creditors. Lady Agatha returned to her maiden family with Selina. Too proud to beg and too fierce to crumble, Lady Agatha worked as a governess to wealthy merchant families. Selina returned to high society, not as a noble lady, but as lady's companion - an accessory of refinement and ruin. When Selina discovered signs of Enlightenment at 21 while playing chess with her lady, it became a new turning point of her planned return to nobility. A letter later, and now at 22, Selina attends St. Eustice's School for the Enlightened, hoping to graduate as soon as possible to overturn the abeyance and reclaim her family's honour. E X T R A S E X T R A S ∙ Theme: Ego - Qing Madi ∙ Possibly to prove her heritage to the viscount title, she needs to find her baptismal certificate and her mother's marriage certificate. ∙ If she was born in this time period, Selina would most definitely throw hands. ∙ Favourite TV show/movie: Once Upon a Time |

First, Selina seems grand! I enjoy her Enlightened abilities. You also have a nice mix of weaknesses in there for her. I definitely will enjoy seeing where she goes from her, my mind is already swimming with ideas!
Few notes: Her fears....she has a lot. Not a terrible thing but I will be using people's fears against them and you only needed to have three. You can keep them if you want, but you were warned :)
For her skills and faults, it needs to be 4 each, not five. Please remove one for both. You will gain new skills as the RP goes on but are only allowed 4 to start the RP off.
There is also something you forgot to add in the Extras section :)
Once those are done, tag me and if everything looks good she will be approved!

It seems to be just mediocre poetry at first glance, but that is because it is coded, a subtle mix of metaphors and word associations of Edmund's creation. This actually is a collection of informations on nobles which "could come in handy at some point". In practice, it is mostly anything which might prove useful politically or for negociation or blackmail. - | E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S Cryokinesis: Edmund can freeze things with just a thought. On a good day, the range of this ability can extend up to twenty meters. It's efficacy, however, is dependant on humidity. While he can always chill anything in his range, the production of ice is dependant on either liquids or moisture in the air. As a result, his power varies greatly in threat depending on his environnement. This power changes when Edmund gives in to rage. As he loses control of himself, his Cryokinesis also goes berserk, fully losing its range in favor to pure power. In this state, he can only affect what he directly touch but the freeze is so intense it instantly causes frostbite. With prolonged contact, cells are at serious risk of dying and causing necrosis. Cold resistance: Whether It is a part of his ability or an adaptation to it, the fact is that Edmund is immune to the effects of the cold. His body will not be hurt by frost. B A C K S T O R Y B A C K S T O R Y His father, James Wright, worked as a tutor for privileged youths. But in addition to this, he also participated in blue-coat schools as a form of charity work. He was a dedicated man and, while he was not very wealthy, he had the respect of his peers. Edmund thus had the opportunity to interact with kids of all classes through his childhood. He was a reserved and stoic child, showing more interest in learning than playing. This made it difficult to form friendships, but he found he had an easier time with working class kids than middle or upper class. These in particular were a source of problem, something which confused Edmund to no end. He believed that his sense of morals came from his education and yet the higher education often led to inflated egos and scorn towards those of "lower standing". Then one day, the inevitable happened. Was it a kid who pushed him farther than the others? Was it the accumulation of frustration over the years? Did something unrelated made him more prone to anger? If you were to ask Edmund, he couldn't honestly answer you as he only has hazy recollections of the event. But the fact is that a strange mist started to emanate from his body as the room temperature dropped. The other children ran away. It happened in the late spring, yet they found themselves covered in frost. He had awakened to his ability, and rather violently too. He had come very close from grievly injuring one of those kids, an action which would have had terrible consequences. Thanks to his parents' input, he was classified as a youth with strong potential who only needed the right direction to become a better person. This is how he ended up at St. Eustice's School. There, he strove to better himself. He saw that outburst as shameful and tried to supress the anger that boiled within himself. Of course, this only made him into a ticking time bomb, as this frozen anger was just waiting to resurface. Still, he showed to be an excellent student. He is currently working as an assistant teacher while furthering his own studies. P E R S O N A L I T Y P E R S O N A L I T Y Edmund has always been very calm and stoic in appearance. The truth is that he is simply isn't very expressive and tend to bottle is feelings. While it would be easy to assume he is just cold, this couldn't be further from the truth. While Edmund isn't very good at reading others, he is strongly affected by them and shows great empathy. He hardly reacts to most things said to him but can easily be affected by those same words. The most extreme aspect of this is his anger, which he contains within himself, giving Edmund this aura of perfect calm. But this only until the moment where he can't take it anymore and it explode into an uncontrollable rage. Even in this state, his face is not particularly expressive and, as he doesn't say much, this anger is mostly expressed through the violence he displays. While it would be healthier for him to learn to deal with these feelings, his past led him to choose to bottle everything instead. Some people also think she is the illegitimate daughter of the late Baron Heathering, and that's the only reason why the Baroness took care of her. Others believe that the color of Lady Melody's eyes foretells their fate. Green for luck, violet for love...red for ruin. ► Secrets Melody has a room only she enters. Inside are portraits of herself with different eyes, 23 and counting. One has no eyes at all. She doesn't know why or where it came from. When her power first manifested, she once connected to an emotional aura that belonged to a girl who later took her own life. Melody had felt everything the girl felt, too late. It haunts her still: a scream she never released. Lady Melody's power to sever emotional bonds is a secret to most, except a handful of people. She once severed the relationship between a powerful Duke and his wife because of her own love for him, causing one of the greatest scandals amongst the Ton. It was the first and only time she's used her power so selfishly, and she regrets her actions to this day. She was young and foolish then, as she often laments. - | E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S Empathic Metamoprh: The world would never know that Melody was Enlightened, save for her eyes, those eyes that refuse to stay the same. Today they might be cornflower blue, royal violet, or a shade of crimson. Tomorrow, a golden hue that catches the light like fire. Some days they don’t match at all, as if pieces of past lives have slipped through and settled there. Her eyes are always changing colors, sometimes more than once within the same day. Melody's eyes do more than shift in color. They allow her to see emotion, the raw hue of colored auras that bloom and curl around the living like a second skin. With those eyes, she sees what others may bury, granting her deep emotional attunement and the ability to calm or influence others by adapting to their emotional needs. But worse still, when she connects with someone too much and their aura flares bright, her own sense of self dissolves into theirs and molds her like soft wax. She becomes a reflection of them, subtly, completely. It is often an unconscious shift in her behavior, mood, or demeanor, shaping her into whatever that person feels or requires: the comforter, the fighter, the mother, the friend, the woman who will say the thing they can’t. An empathic metamorph, if you will. The danger lies in how easily she can lose herself if she doesn't stay in control. Her empathy is too exact, too consuming. Sometimes it can happen without her consent or even awareness, turning love into mimicry and anger into action. She can soothe a person's sorrow before a word is spoken or placate someone's fury with uncanny finesse. And only when the bond breaks does she remember who she is, blinking back into herself with a tremble and the vague ache of having lived too many lives in one. Threadbreaker: Lady Melody's color-shifting eyes also allow her to see the emotional bonds between people and sever them, intentionally or not. With a whispered word, a glance held too long, or the slightest brush of her hand, she can unravel the invisible threads that tie hearts together. These aren’t visible to most, but to her, they appear as colorful gossamer filaments stretched between souls, glowing strands of loyalty, love, rage, guilt, grief, and longing. When she chooses, she can reach into the weave and cut. The effects are immediate and chilling: a daughter might look at her mother and feel nothing; a sworn enemy may suddenly forget why they raised their sword. In combat, it’s devastating. Alliances crumble, motivations evaporate, and even the strongest will can falter. The cut is not usually permanent. A thread typically grows back, though maybe the same, different, weaker, or twisted. Other times, it doesn't at all. Lady Melody cannot actively restore what she severs. The more deeply someone is tied to another, the more taxing it is to break that bond. She often emerges from these moments dazed, her own sense of identity temporarily blurred by the unraveling of others’. B A C K S T O R Y B A C K S T O R Y Melody Heathering was born on a rain-slicked morning in London, her first cries muffled by the heavy drapes of an upper Belgravia townhouse. She was the daughter of a woman who had once been enslaved, rescued from the brutal plantations of the British West Indies by Baroness Florence Heathering, a noblewoman whose radical leanings, common among those within High Society's quieter intelligentsia, made her both admired and whispered about in certain drawing rooms. Her mother, once a shadow in the fields, became the Baroness’s lady-in-waiting, then her closest confidante. Though her life had been brief, she filled it with gentleness and poetry, teaching Melody to hold her head high and read every book she could reach. When illness took her, Melody was barely seven. And the Baroness, out of something deeper than obligation, took the child in as her ward. She grew up in silks, but never in safety. Though her mind was quick and her beauty impossible to ignore, society watched her with a cruel sort of fascination, admiring from a distance, but never letting her forget she did not belong. The Baroness, unwavering in her defiance, educated Melody as she would a daughter of blood, exposing her to languages, literature, and the disquieting truths of the world. She taught Melody to speak with precision, to never lower her eyes first, and to bear the weight of every sideways glance with quiet grace. A sharp education made Melody all the more unplaceable. But for all her love, the Baroness had not been prepared for the manifestation of Melody's gift. It began softly. Her eyes were the first to change, shifting in color daily, sometimes hourly, from storm blue to gold to a haunting red. They were beautiful, yes, but strange. Then she began finishing others' sentences before they were spoken. Not just guessing, but feeling what they felt, mirroring it with alarming clarity. She could calm a man’s anger with a look or carry the heartbreak of a stranger like it were her own. And when emotions surged too high, Melody shifted, subtly, deeply, her behavior molding to the needs of whoever she was near, as if her very self bent to hold their feelings. Melody caused quite a scene at her last few balls. The Baroness, loving but frightened by the growing power she couldn’t understand and the toll it seemed to take on Melody’s mental health, made a painful choice, secluding the girl within the house under the guise of convalescence, hoping the "gift" would fade like a fever. Eventually, the power settled instead, quietly, like mist behind her eyes. In time, when the world had forgotten its fear, Melody emerged once more, older now, calmer, and full of unspoken things. She stepped into her mother’s place as the Baroness’s lady-in-waiting, but she was no one’s servant. Where she walked, people turned. Some bowed. Some held their breath. The same people who once doubted her now addressed her with brittle respect. Always staring at her eyes. Yet Melody knew better than to trust the shape of admiration. Power, like beauty, did not grant safety. It merely changed the way the blade was held. And in secret, she gave part of herself to Lady Rosemarie’s Haven for Wayward Girls, a hidden place for young women with nowhere else to go, girls (and some boys) with strange Enlightened abilities and stranger stories, like hers once was. There, Melody was something closer to herself: a guide, a keeper, a gentle fire. She never asked the girls to speak of what they’d run from. She simply taught them how to stand in their own power without apology. There were rumors, of course. There always are. But Melody let them whisper. Let them wonder. The truth was, she no longer needed the world’s permission to exist. E X T R A S E X T R A S Theme Song - Sane Again by Frou Frou. Favorite Movie is Matilda. Perhaps he was a spy for a foreign nation tasked with sabotage, or had simply gone insane. The fact that he was carrying a ghastly staff of bone with him also made many believe that the Crown had sent him aboard the ship as a kind of inquisitor for her crew, and that the fate of they met was a punishment for mutiny. ► Secrets The staff of bone that Morris used as an oar to paddle back to dry land was made from a human corpse. It was grafted into one piece from the ribs and femurs of Elijah Tavish, captain of the Saint Judith. Late at night, in the small hours of the morning before the sun is visible, Morris hears his voice whispering from it. They aren’t kind words. - | E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S E N L I G H T E N E D A B I L I T I E S The Sailor’s Art: Using the bones of something that has died, Morris can build up strange effects as if he were performing works of magic. He can cause bones to levitate, graft them together, make them weigh dozens of pounds, and much more. He often carries a long length of grafted bone with him, the size of a spear, that he had with him when he washed back up on England’s shores once again after the accident. Morris has yet to tell anyone what it actually does. In order to actually create his strange trinkets, Morris needs a supply of bones. The source of them doesn’t always matter, but it can influence the outcome to a point. The more complicated the effect he seeks, the more bone he will need. These things also require time, and do not simply happen when he lays his hands on a rib or an animal skull. Rather, there’s a process he is hesitant to divulge, which could take minutes or days depending on his goal. Blackest Ivory: With enough of these bones, Morris can create what he refers to as Unlife. Ugly statues of bone that his Enlightenment animates into servants, which can carry out tasks befitting their size and complexity. They’re little more than easily trained workhorses, able to learn what is and isn’t the right thing to do when given an order with time. The Unlivng are also significantly more costly to make, requiring entire legs and feet, or arms and thumbs to suit what Morris needs. B A C K S T O R Y B A C K S T O R Y Morris was 16 when he first put out to sea. He came from a poor home with a single mother who worked as a merchant’s assistant, in an economic situation where breakfast was usually half a loaf of brown bread and dinner almost always was thin soup. He signed onto a merchant ship as a deckhand, hoping to earn a fair pay for his mother back home. It was cold and stormy out there, the food was somehow worse than home, and there was always the threat of pirates down south. Morris’ job was a simple one: Move this barrel, tie that knot, and fetch something. It wasn’t glamorous, but it paid. The quartermaster gave him menial tasks like tarring the deck and bringing up supplies to fix something, and expected very little out of him. They were a month away from port when Morris discovered his Enlightenment. An older sailor showed him the art of scrimshaw, carving bones from whales into tools or art pieces. People would make things out of them and trade them. In Morris’ case, he learned how to cut some whalebone chunks into dice, which he used to win a few coins one night. And then he won a few more, and a few more still. They thought he had cheated, but every time he wanted a certain number, the dice just landed on it. A few more days, and another crew member helped him figure it out when Morris made a tiny whale figure out of fish bones. It came to life and started floating, and the entire ship quickly heard about him being Enlightened. Out at sea, it didn’t change much about his standing. If anything, it made him more useful, and there wasn’t much room on a ship for discrimination. Months later, he went home and found his mother had passed from sickness. She couldn’t afford a doctor, and that left Morris alone with the house. He took his time to grieve, and with no one waiting at home, went right back to sea. Twice, he served as an assistant quartermaster aboard the whaling ship Duke of the West, having discovered he could create an abomination from whalebones that could fetch supplies while he tended to numbers. Morris earned enough pay and respect among the crew that he was approached by the Royal Navy after his most recent work. The captain of a ship called the Saint Judith was heading out to settle disputes with pirates in the equator and ensure that England’s interests were asserted. He had asked for Morris specifically, and the pay was far better than anything he’d gotten before. So he graciously accepted the offer. And it all went wrong. Just weeks after the Saint Judith left port, Morris was found limping back to England on a raft made from driftwood, blood-soaked rope, and a prayer. His clothes were tattered, his hair had been singed, and he had a truly dejected look on his face. All he had to say was that the Saint Judith had gone down, and none of her crew had survived. Morris would not say what happened, even under threat of imprisonment. To this day, it remains a mystery. Two months passed, and he seemed to have never truly recovered. He never strayed far from that ugly stick made of bones, he’s stayed on dry land, and most notably, Morris has been avoiding anyone with governmental authority. The sudden turn of his life eventually took him to the doorstep of one Lady Rosemarie, where he humbly asked not for a place to stay, but a place to work. Morris tends to the needs of her Haven, doing everything from bringing food to the girls when they’re sick to fixing a broken window after some Enlightened's abilities got out of hand. Sometimes, he even scares off the occasional wealthy man who insists his daughter will come home. E X T R A S E X T R A S |
