Detective Roy Gregory

Location: Block Party --> Danica's Apartment (1C) --> Heading to Work

Detective Gregory grumbled under his breath as walked up the stairs to the Regal building and made his way up to the top floor where Danica's apartment was located. Unlocking the door he stepped in with the small team he had gotten together to looked through the place and left one officer at the door to keep onlookers from getting inside. Sighing as he rubbed the back of his neck he started a general walk through of the place; checking for the one thing he wondered was there before anything else, a suicide note. Main room? No. Kitchen? No. Bedroom and Bathroom one? No. Bedroom and Bathroom two? No. Balcony out back? No. Nothing.

Not that he truly suspected that he would find one but he had to look. There were no signs of struggle or a fight within the apartment. Granted considering Danica died across the street and not in here that wasn't surprising. Walking over to the deceased's desk he sat down and opened up her laptop with his gloved hand. Usual stuff, a few games, an open tab to play solitaire, pictures of Danica on various cliffs and mountains. Seemed she really loved that type of activity. A half written piece on the best places to parkour without the cops getting on your tail. Nothing getting his attention until he spotted a folder buried in folder after folder in her work stuff. Folder Label: Peyton Glencross.

"What in the hell would a travel writer have anything on Peyton?" he muttered under his breath as he clicked the file to open it. Sitting there reading, his body slowly sitting up in the chair and leaning closer to the screen as he read. His eyes widening before slamming the top of the laptop down and falling back against the chair. "You have got to be kidding me..." he sighed as he rubbed his face. He sat there as the team worked, staring blankly at the laptop before glancing out of the corner of his eye and picking up something from Danica's desk. Palming it in his hand before rising from the seat and beginning to bag and tag the laptop and a few other things. Tomorrow was going to be a long day. Once the crew was finished up, they left the apartment. Taping it off and locking it up tight. Gregory left an officer posted at the door and told him he would be relieved come morning but not to, under any circumstances, leave his post.

"I don't care if you have to piss your own pants, you don't move," he warned the officer before walking off with the rest of the team and heading out for the night. Time to head back to the precinct and put this stuff into evidence. Glancing around at those still hanging around before jumping the barricade and heading down the street. He wouldn't be getting much sleep tonight, he had to double check on some things he had seen on Danica's laptop before anything else.

"Bullshit," she laughed, she knew damn good and well the man had thought of every possible reason to get her in a dress he could think of. He knew how much she hated them and he seemed to get far too many kicks on seeing how mad she got when she was forced to wear one. Taking the towel from him she rolled her eyes a bit. "Yeah, because then you would just hide all the towels and I would be forced to chase you stark naked through the place until you gave me one." Chuckling as she thought back to numerous times she had had to do just that, the man was completely incorrigible.

"Aww, poor baby. I'll make it up to you," she said winking at him as she dried off and he made his way down the hall to deal with whomever was knocking at the door. Grabbing her newly acquired clothing she slipped on the articles before hanging the towel up over the bar on the wall and strode down the hall, her bare feet softly padding against the floor. Stopping at the end of the hallway she leaned against the wall and listened to the conversation. A smirk crawling over her lips as Lucas dealt with officer.

As the door closed she crossed her arms over her chest and had to bite her tongue from laughing. "Don't you mean Wanker my dear?" she said before stepping over to him and lacing her arms over his shoulders. "What would I do without you? Protecting my helpless tush from the big mean American cops, going to have to find a good way to reward you for your services governor," she said before giving him a soft kiss. Turning she shook her tush a bit teasing him as she head over to the kitchen and started spooning out a couple of bowls of the stew that he had made; a coy smile on her lips as she glanced over to him from time to time.

Setting everything down along the raised counter top that separated the kitchen from the rest of the main room. Pulling up a rickety stool she nearly lost her balance as the thing swayed too and fro. "Fucking hell, okay. I have got to talk to our roommate and get our furniture in her properly. You know, before I bust my ass," she grumbled as she grabbed the counter top to steady herself and slipped a spoon over to Lucas.

Shaking her head a minute before taking a deep breath, finding herself having to stifle a slight yawn. "Excuse me," she yawned. Trying to push the quickly on-setting sleepiness away before taking a bite of the dinner that Lucas had prepared for them. It was a lovely little meal and Risa was more than enjoying it, yawning a thank you to her boy friend. Jet lag was settling in and it wasn't long before she was nodding there like a toddler, her face just barely missing the bowl as she finally slumped over on the stool and her cheek pressing against the counter as she fell asleep right there.

Location: Boston Heights: Courtyard >> Her apartment

Lana wasn't sure what to make of JD, she was out of it, that was for sure. She wanted to help her out more but knew that she had done as much as she was capable of doing and clearly JD wanted to be on her own after the shock. When JD then spoke to her directly, Lana was a little take aback by what she said to her. No one had ever really gave such a genuine compliment to her who wasn't trying to get in her pants so it was something new to try and process. "Uh, yeah sure, that's no problem cutie. Uhm, thanks. Just take care getting back to your apartment, okay? Be seeing you." It was awkward and messy seeming but it was all that Lana could focus on in order to speak. She wasn't entirely sure why she was so surprised at the comment, but it was what it was.

Bidding farewell to JD and grabbing her bottles of vodka on her way, tucking one under her left arm and holding the other in her left hand to keep her right hand free to hold her apartment keys. Lana made her way back to her apartment keeping an eye out for Lyle on the way but she couldn't see him amongst the crowd that was being questioned and were dispersing. On her way to the Rose building, Lana noticed that officers were marching inside and she spotted one on each floor on her way up, knocking on doors and bothering the tenants. Didn't they realise most everyone was outside at the block party when all the shit hit the fan? God damn idiots. Lana grumbled and rolled her eyes as she made her way to the third floor and stopped in her tracks as she spotted another officer knocking on the door to her apartment. Maybe Lyle was inside and could deal with the cop and Lana could just slip away for the night. I mean, she already had the party tucked under her left arm... No such luck as the police officer turned around and spotted Lana.

"Do you live in this apartment, ma'am?"

"Maybe. Who wants to know?" Lana gave the officer a steady glare.

"Ma'am this is not the time nor place for jokes. I have some questions that I need you to answer."

"I already answered questions outside. I don't see why I need to repeat myself."

"Ma'am this is an investigation of a possible homicide and you are preventing an investigation from being carried out. That is an obstruction of justice and I am well within my rights of the law to take you into custody if you continue to refuse to co-operate."

Lana rolled her eyes as she shrugged lightly and walked towards the officer that was standing in front of her apartment door. She stepped up close to him and leaned in, the officer taking a step back and staring at her in alarm. "Ma'am take a step back! I will arrest you for assaulting a police officer." Lana scoffed at him and shook her head, turning the key in the lock of the door behind him, the audible click ringing out in the hallway as she opened the door and let it swing open. "Good luck explaining to your boss that you arrested a tiny little woman for unlocking her apartment door at you."

Chuckling to herself, Lana stepped back from the officer and invited him inside. "To show that I have nothing to hide and am willing to answer the same questions. Again." Walking inside, Lana made her way to the kitchen and placed the bottles of vodka on the countertop. She switched the kettle on and let it begin to boil as she set about making herself a cup of coffee. The officer stood in the doorway unsure how to react to these events but eventually followed her inside, leaving the door open. Lana made up two basic mugs of black coffee and began to prepare her own before asking the officer what he took in his. He answered and then accepted the mug that she handed to him.

Lana motioned to the breakfast bar and sat down, setting the coffee in front of her after taking a long, much needed, sip. The officer sat uncomfortably on the stool and set his mug down without taking a sip. He opened his notebook and prepraed to ask his first question. Lana considered the officer, he was attractive in a rough kind of way but seemed too jumpy and goody-goody for her liking. Shame, she could have done with a tumble after all the shit that went down tonight that ruined her good fun. Drumming her fingers lightly on the counter, Lana considered her answers as he spoke.

"Why did you leave the scene?"

"Because I had already been questioned outside by a cute little red headed officer and his big blonde sidekick that didn't much like me."

"What is your connection with the deceased?"

"Didn't know her. Recognised her from around but she was a loner type."

"Were you living here when the last girl committed suicide?"

"Nope but my roommate, Lyle Marlestone did."

"Why did you move in if you knew someone died in this building?"

"To be fair, the girl didn't die in this building. She died in the one next door. So your question is pretty much baloney."

"What do you do for a living?"

This one was a question that Lana was used to answering so she let out a gentle sigh and looked the officer dead in the eyes as she spoke. "I am an unemployed actress. Right now I'm paying the bills with my savings that are becoming more and more meager with each passing day without work. I'll eventually need to move out at this rate..." She let out another small sigh and weaved her fingers together in front of herself. She looked positively crestfallen and the officer blinked and began to go red across his cheeks as he cleared his throat and continued.

"Did you see anything?"

"I saw the poor woman falling to her death and crushing a table below. I saw someone being injured, another neighbour, and then had a different neighbour grab onto my arm who I then helped to a seat and gave a drink to to help calm her down some."

"Who do you remember being on the street?"

"The entire neighbourhood? I only recognised some faces but I don't know actual names, just the nicknames that I've given them during my people watching stints while bored out of my mind without work."

The officer noted down her last answer and looked as if he was about done. Lana glanced at his notepad and took a long drink from her mug of coffee before nodding to his mug. "You not going to finish that? I'm sure my flatmate will be back any time now. He was at the block party too so no doubt he's being questioned outside and will need you to re-question him up here." She gave a satisfied little smirk as she lifted her steaming mug of coffee up to her face again.

Lorna Dunn

Location: Boston Heights: Courtyard >> Her apartment

Lorna looked up to Caesar as he walked over and wondered if he'd announce who he was on the phone to but no such luck but hey, he was giving them more wages! "Thanks boss, 'ppreciate it and I will do. Probably some time tomorrow knowin' me..." She gave a light chuckle that was soon cut off as soon as she saw the monstrosity that El Jefe was suggesting they get permanently attached to their skin. She heard Alicia's comment but not even that could make her face lose the stern aggitation that was now upon it. "Fuck that shit for a carry fuckin' on, El Jefe. Ya god damn lost yer mind man! That shit ain't in my job description and I'll be a fuckin' jack rabbit monkey 'fore I get yer face anywhere near my body!"

With that outburst and shaking of her head, Lorna threw her hands up into the air and began to walk away, shouting over her shoulder to Alicia and Caesar as she did. "I'm goin' the fuck home. If ye need me boss, don't. Ye can live for a night." With that, Lorna bid them both goodbye (well Alicia was only until she came home but still) and made her way home. At least riiiight until she heard Lawson calling out to everyone to grab what food they could and take it home to chow down. She made a b-line right for the smokey goodness (and that wasn't including Lawson) and gave him a grateful smile before grabbing a bunch of food to take home for munching tonight.

"Thanks for the food, gonna enjoy me some home cookin' tonight even if the party went fuckin' South fast. Was nice talkin' for a bit tonight, even if it was only a lil while. Take care o' yersel'. Be seein' ya around." She figured that there was no point wasting time on pointless flirtations when she was never really good at it. She gave him a wink and then grinned, gathering her armful of food and heading off to her apartment.

Getting inside, she was impressed with the cleanliness that the landlord had left it in and the new door looked fine and dandy. Two new keys for the new lock were sitting on the now sparkly sofa and Lorna grinned. She put the food in the kitchen and grabbed a rack of ribs as she sat on the sofa, scooping a key up and putting it in her trouser pocket as she ate her food. She was sitting, enjoying herself when a police officer came down and blinked as she saw Lorna sitting on the sofa with a rack of ribs and sauce all over her mouth and hands. Lorna raised an eyebrow and swallowed her mouthful. "Can I help ya?"

The line of questioning was the same as usual that Lorna was used to dealing with and she sighed as she set her ribs down on the sofa cushion and got up, wiping her hands on her trousers and licking her lips. "I left the scene because I was done doin' my job as security, keepin' the damn pissant media the fuck away. I was also hungry. I barely knew the girl, offered to free run with her, parkour that is, but she declined politely and I ne'er bothered her again. She seemed nice, was real polite. Wasn't livin' here durin' the last death, nah so don't know nothin' 'bout that. She didn't die in this buildin' far as I know, wasn't it next door? I work in secruity for Machete Security Services and we were workin' right outside while you guys were busy pissin' around. I didn't see shit, everythin' went too fast and I went on auto-job mode and just got idiots out the way that weren't supposed to fuckin' be there. Yer welcome by the by. Eh, there was a fuckton of people on the street. The entire neighbourhood far as I can recall. I knew a few people, mostly my neighbours I'll write ye a list if you require it later but right now my hands are a bit fucked up." She held her stained hands up and showed how sticky they were by clapping them together while being less easily able to separate them again.

"Now if that's all, my food is gettin' cold. Gimme your card and I'll call if I remember anythin' else." The officer blinked and left a card on the side table before departing. Lorna shook her head and got herself comfortable on the sofa again before stuffing her face with every ounce of meat that she could.

Caesar Gonzalez

Location: The Regal Building, Apartment 1D (His), Street

Caesar remained straightfaced at Lorna's sudden explosion of rage at his tattoo idea. He stood there, silently taking the verbal lashing from the younger woman. The second she turned to leave, a smirk manifested that quickly spread into a grin. He lightheartedly called after the Marine, "Orale Cookie, don't be that way! You don't have to get the face tattooed, but the Taco? ¡Muy importante!" He has laughing now, despite his best efforts to the contrary.

"Don't worry, M'hija. If you had to get the tattoo, I wouldn't have told you about it until we got to that parlor back home, ehh... Tenoch-TAT-lan. I know a guy. And you would have been drunk, M'hija. Very drunk. We would never tell your mother."

Just sometimes, it was difficult to tell if Caesar was being serious.

With the scene intact, footage taken, police briefed, several members of the media in need of outpatient treatment, his daughter repulsed, and semi-adopted daughter furious with him, Caesar knew that his job here was done. He turned his back on the scene, returning to the tables of food. The dishes were cold by this time, except for his Enchgelatos, which were quickly turning into a pan of spicy-soft custard and flour tortillas. He retrieved his dish and scraped the goppy mess into the nearest trash receptacle. Then he noticed a stack of disposable aluminum half pans among the homemade dishes, and formulated a cunning, devious plan to make his week a little easier.

He shoveled four of them full of unattended food, capped them, and nonchalantly sauntered back to his apartment. In the time it took him to store the foodstuffs in the fridge and pour a two fingers of Mescal, a rather urgent knock sounded from his front door. He eyed through the peephole. It was another cop. If they were going to bitch about where he parked his bike after the night he just had, then the duly appointed representative of the Justice Police Department was going to get a piece of his mind and/or machete.

But no, it was a somewhat more aggressive policeman, demanding answers as to why he left the scene. It went something like this:

"Why did you leave the scene?"

Caesar took a sip of his fragrant, flammable beverage before answering. "One of your guys already questioned me. My team got finished doing your job. Plus, being out there was cutting into my drinking time. Are we through?"

The officer shook his head. Apparently, they were they were, in fact, not done just yet. "What is your connection with the deceased?"

"No connection. Didn't know her, she didn't know me. But I already had this conversation outside. You going to ask anything new?"

"Were you living here when the last girl committed suicide?"

"Good. New question. Officer in charge give you a new list? I was driving down here from Seattle when the woman killed herself. When I arrived, some cop asked me questions about it. Showed him credit card receipts from a gas station and burger place on the way. It's on file at your precinct, whenever you want to check."

Caesar's tone was getting irritated. The officer must have noticed this, as his voice also became more impatient. He must have asked these same questions several times already, and was set to ask them several times more. "Why did you move in if you knew someone died in this building?"

"Someone died the next building over, genius. But I'll ask you - how many times have you seen death? Enough of your friends and family die around you, you don't care so much about a stranger in the neighborhood eating a bullet. Besides, already put my money down on this place. Corporate already moved my stuff in."

The Officer seemed somewhat intrigued by Caesar's last response. Or at least, he put a little more emotion into the standard question, "What do you do for a living?"

"Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Machete Security Solutions. Formerly a Commandant in the Mexican Federal Police - Retired. I do other things, too, but they don't have job titles that can go on resumes. Can I offer you a drink?"

The irritated police officer, now a bit more intrigued by the older man's story, declined with a quiet head shake. His face betrayed mild fascination as well as disbelief. He continued going down the list, though his voice had lost a bit of his edge. "Did you see anything?"

"Nope. Lady already landed by the time I got out there. All I did was secure the scene. Well, with a lot of talented, motivated help."

"Who do you remember being on the street?"

"It was a Block Party, Hura. Everyone was out there. I don't really know but two of these people, and they're with me. Look, are your sure you don't want that drink?"

The officer excused himself, most likely to knock on someone else's door that had already been questioned. Caesar had considered giving the man a business card, but the moment he revealed his profession to the recently vigilant policeman, certainty came with it that his history would be reviewed. A card would merely be redundant. No, it was now time to settle back for the evening, have a drink or three, grab a bit of leftovers for dinner and relax with the DVR and his fuzzy bunny slippers. There was going to be a lot of work and reviewing of footage tomorrow. But first things first: To the freezer. Caesar had a sudden desire to swirl a couple of ice cubes in his drink. He opened the door to the magical, frozen box wherein he kept his ice cube trays, only to be greeted with a thing of true delight.

"Ha! I knew I made two pans of enchgelatos!"

Despite the ugliness of the previous few hours, the evening just may be salvageable.

Cameron White

Location: His Apartment

Cameron sat back in his chair, having just been interviewed by the police about something he didn't even see and then given the third degree about a bump on his head, he was not in the best of moods. He lay his head back against the head rest and let out a great sigh. This was all he needed right now. He had been making such progress and it was all fucked in an instant. Clenching his fists against the recliner chair, Cam was doing everything he could to sooth the screaming voices in his head. Reaching over to the desk, he picked up his phone and quickly put on Billy Jolly's All Star 80's, that would surely make him feel better right? Tears for Fears very apt. Every fibre of his being was telling him to scream and shout and let it all out. Hell, he was aching to reach into the drawer, pull out his gun and fire a few rounds into a wall but he had to resist the urge. As his mind began to settle, Cameron had to think back to the man, how had he known he was there? Was he even there? Was it all in Cameron's head? It wouldn't be the first time. Opening his eyes in time to see Lyndsey walk into the room, he smiled at her faintly resting back down.

"I'm going to stop by Doctor Keller's tomorrow. I think I need a session"

JD Mason

Location: Block Party. Her Apartment

JD offered Lana another smile before the woman wandered off to her own apartment. Feeling the haze begin to lift from her mind, the intrepid reporter got to her feet and brushed herself off. Now was no time to lose focus, no matter what chaos was happening around her. Making her way into her apartment building she was stopped once again for question by the cops. This was fine, she knew police routine and by now her head was clear enough to answer the questions she was asked more fruitfully. "Yes I live here. I moved her because the place was cheap and right by my work. Erm, no I'm pretty sure everyone was at the party, everyone from the apartments I know at least, I'm still pretty new. Good luck officer" Despite an inherit distate for the law enforcement of Justice, California, JD knew that some of these men were honestly just trying to do their job, not everyone was corrupt...then again most were. She had honestly never seen anything like it. Evil had filled this city and was held there, steadfast, like they were trapped under the dome from Stephen King. Life was strange but now, after this, Jessica knew that it was only going to get stranger.

Once she had entered her apartment, Jess collapsed onto her bed and stared up at the map on her ceiling. It was something she had gotten from her brother on one of his expeditions. Dominic always used to say that if he slept with a map above his head, his dreams could take him anywhere. It was soppy and romantic and so thoroughly Dom. Speaking of her big brother bear, JD thought back to the man at the party, the one who looked exactly like him. There was no way it could have been him but with everything that was going on, maybe it was worth a check? If for nothing else, it would be nice to talk to her ducky.

Establishing Connection....You are now connected to MinnesotaYeti92

"Dom? Dom are you there?" All JD could see was white until from out of focus, there popped a hairy snow covered creature; the abominable snowman, the sasquatch, Mor'du from Brave...her brother, Dominic. "Hey ducky! Bad time?"
"Erm...no, no I always have time for you. Give me two seconds though, I literally just walked through the door, let me get this gear off" JD watched as her big brother disappeared off screen for moment before returning and sitting down at his computer. "So what's up sis?"
"So I secretly think you have a twin, we should ask mom and dad. I was at a party and I could've sworn you were there. Dommy this guy looked just like you...you know except without the dead animal skin on his face. I keep telling you you're not a Stark!"
"Uh-huh...so what's really going on Jessie?"
Typical Dom, he was the master at seeing through JD's bullshit. "A girl died today, right in front of the entire complex. It's another one, Dommy, another one that doesn't make sense. I need to know what's going on here"
"I'm not going to tell you to get out of there, Jessie because I know you won't, you're too much like your big brother. Just be careful, ok? That place is fucking dangerous and it will eat you alive. I worry more for you there than for me and Tas in a cave here in Alaska...you know what? Screw it. We're coming to town, we'll finish up here and Natasha and I will come see you"
"But Dom, you still have three months?"
"Doesn't matter, my little sister needs me. Listen Little Yeti, I have to go, our signal out here won't last much longer and Tas is trying to research goats in snow for some reason. I love you, be safe and I'll see you soon ok?"
"I love you too, brother bear

The line went dead and Jess leaned back in her chair. As much as she liked to do things on her own, JD felt some relief to know that her brother would be coming to see her soon. She always worried that one of his expeditions would go wrong and she would never see him again, having him close by would help her get back on the right track, even if his visit was only for a few days. Her eyes were drawn to one of the many pictures of Peyton she had. That girl was loved by the camera. As she sat staring into her lovers eyes, JD was brought back to something in their final conversation.

"So I couldn't find any spooky legends about this town but I did find one legend, it's about a thing, they call it March. Been around for like forty, fifty years. Apparently it is a ghostly spectre, a vengeful spirit that kills indiscriminate. At night, parents tell their kids of a person so evil, so filled with hatred and malice that the devil was frightened of them, so the demon threw this March out of hell and gave it a list of people to take out. Professor Gerard loves this story and thinks he may have found something true about it, I don't know. An evil ghost that stalks the streets? Bit far fetched right?"

With everything going on at the minute, JD couldn't help but wonder if maybe it was a ghost after all. Flipping on her radio, a smile crossed her face as her favourite station was ready and waiting. The Justice exclusive Billy Jolly's All Star 80's always made her feel better. Especially when it played such a classic tune.

She could relax now, it was time to rest but tomorrow, there was work to be done.

Alicia Gonzalez

Location: Block Party --> Apartment 2D

Alicia had to bit the inside of her cheek hard to keep from laughing as Lorna blew up at Caesar over the entire tattoo idea. She couldn't exactly blame the woman, she didn't want the mans face on her skin and he was her Papi. She learned a long time ago that getting someone's face tattooed on their on skin always led to something bad. There were rules when it came to Tattoos and they were simple enough.

  • Never get a tat while drunk - it never ends well
  • Never get a significant others name - the relationship will end within 48 hours
  • Never just get an impulse tat - you will regret the Taco Bell on your ass cheek one day
  • Be careful where you get the tat because if it is on your tit when you are twenty it will be at your knees when you are eighty
  • Never get anyone's face on you unless they are dead because they will pitch a bitch fit or you will when you realize it was a bad idea.

The last was the most important in her mind as she looked at her father and pointed to his chest as Lorna stormed off. "Ain't making the same mistake you did Papi," she quipped before giving the man a hug and wandering off towards her apartment where she was caught by one of the cops and given a slew of questions yet again.

"You people don't listen do you?" she snarled before spouting off exactly what she had said earlier and adding in a few choice words before she tossed her card at the mans face and walking into her apartment, slamming the door and locking it behind her. Incompetence was not something she was particularly patient with and that was saying something since she wasn't patient with most things but this really got to her and she had no doubt why people like her, Lorna, and her father were needed in the world.

Looking over at Lorna she smirked as she saw her roommate stuffing her face. "So, that smokey goodness worth being swallowed?" she teased as she tossed her keys on the coffee table and placed her gun back under the side table in its holster. "Anywho, gonna get some sleep Cookie, we have that new contract in the morning. See you about seven A.M. so we can head out. Night girl," she said before wandering off to her room and going to bed.

Dj Lawson

Location: Out in front of Boston Heights at the Smoker --> Apartment 3D

"Anything for a Marine ma'am," Lawson said as he gave Lorna a charming smile and watched her head back to her place. Letting out a low whistle as he watched her back side before shaking his head and getting back to handing out food to those that wanted it before packing up the rest to take home with him. At least he wouldn't have to cook for a couple of days.

Finishing up he was stopped by the cops to get his turn at their line of questions. "Sorry sir, I don't be knowin' much about the girl. I talked to her before she went on her run though. She seemed happy, even told me to be savin' her a plate of food for when she gots back. Dunno why she would says that if she don't be meanin' to come back and eats ya know?" she said after answering the rest of the cops questions. Nodding slightly as he was handed a card and told to call if he remembered anything else.

Tucking the card into his pocket he gathered his stuff and headed into his apartment. Tossing the food down on the counter and picking up his phone, noting he had a message from work. Reading over it he set an alarm for early since he would need to return the smoker before he headed in. Grabbing a rib he shoved it in his mouth as he started to shuffle the rest of the food into the fridge. Once that was done he dropped the now sucked dry bone into the garbage and headed back to his bedroom. Time for some sleep.

"You know, there's all this talk of me getting rewarded and every time you say it I feel like it's less and less likely." He smirked as he glanced over his shoulder at her, kissing her back gently and chuckling as she shook her behind in his direction. Moving after her, he pulled out a slightly more stable stool to sit across from her, taking a seat as he watched her. "And I assume i'm going to be the one who moves all our furniture in, right?" He smirked as he took a bowl from her, picking up the spoon and stirring about the contents for a moment before taking a spoonful of the stew, bringing it to his mouth and blowing on it before he began to eat.

Chuckling as she began to yawn, he figured that Risa wouldn't last long, once she got particularly sleepy she was usually out before long. And of course it wasn't very long before her face was against the counter and she was sound asleep. Finishing off his stew, he picked up both their bowls and carried them into the kitchen, putting them in the dishwasher before he moved over to her. Carefully, he tucked an arm under her knees and one around her back, picking her up bridal style and out of the kitchen. Taking her down the hall, it wasn't long before he lay her down on their bed, taking a moment or two to tuck her in properly and leaning down to plant a kiss on her cheek. Closing the door to their room, Lucas began to change into something more appropriate for sleeping.

While he was doing so, he heard the door open and close again before someone came down the hall and entered the other bedroom, Lucas assumed that their flatmate was home. He didn't bother to go say hello or anything, he was tired and he figured that Jeremy was as well, besides, they'd only spoken a few times now. Changing before long, Lucas yawned as he climbed into bed along with Risa, settling where he was, he made sure that his usual alarm was off, he had no intention of getting up early the next morning unless Risa made him to, and she was far better than any alarm clock at getting him off his ass. Letting out another long yawn, he rested his head back against the pillow and turned off the bedside lamp, closing his eyes and letting sleep take him.

Joseph 'Tank' Cooper

Tank made it to the bottom of the building, and let out a sigh as he stood at the doorway. Not out of exasperation of his job or if he was suddenly questioning the rhyme or reason for things. He was just bored and still kind of hungry. He dismissed the idea of going out for now. He'd probably go tomorrow and take in some sun as he did it. For now though, he spotted a few extra burgers abandoned on a table relatively close to the crime scene. "Who says crime doesn't pay?" he said to himself, pushing off the side of the doorway and strutting over, giving a nod and a smile to all who knew him before casually grabbing the food and heading off to his apartment. He'd begun eating before he'd even got back.

A few minutes later, Tank unlocked his door and headed in his place, kicking his chair out of the way of his walking path before setting down his food and locking the door behind him. He did his normal routine from there onward, which included push ups, sit ups, a shower, and then writing down in his journal everything he witnessed that day as he ate and listened to Jazz. He had a few pages made ready for the crime, but he spent the most time on his other journal section. A page for each member of his apartment mates, jotting down every little thing he not only noticed, but was assumed and hinted at. He didn't make it asleep until the early hours of the morning. It didn't matter though. He had another free day coming up.

Lyndsay White

Lyndsay held the door open for yet another police officer who seemed to stream in from the streets, offering them a polite smile, but she didn't politely wait behind them on the stairs, she slinked past them, making herself small against the wall as she overtook, calling a small "Excuse me, Sir" as she passed. She felt sorry for him, he looked a year from retirement, red and neck straining at the effort of the stais. She was used to them, and being athletic only helped. She got to her door and was about to open it, when yet another police officer came out from it. He gave her a once over look, before opening his mouth, she beat him to it.

"I've already been questioned downstairs, thoroughly" She tried to be as polite as she could, but she was growing weary with the whole day, and he was standing inbetween her and the person who's welfare she cared about most, and it was ticking her off. Her tone of voice has been short, and the officer, who looked fresh out of the academy, eyed her nervously, asif unsure what to do. She offered another small smile, and stepped aside to let the officer past, who decided against pressing her further, tipped his cap at her and went on his way. She closed the door behind him, with a little huff that made her head sway.

With the closing of the door, music began to blare throughout the sound system build into the ceilings, and she smiled to herself. Turning into the main room she saw Cam sat in one of the chairs, slumped and looking defeated. She returned his smile and made her way over to him, her fingers stroking through the crown of his hair, thumbs brushing softly over his closed eyelids. "I think that's a good idea, I'll come too."

Her fingertips continued their soft pursuit over the stress creases of his forehead, the soft crinkles at the corners of his eyes when he smiled. "Today sucked, huh?" It was a simple statement, knowing he wasn't really in the mood for prying or questioning. She rested her hands on either arm of the chair, leaning herself down to press a soft kiss against his forehead, peppering a trail of soft kisses down his face, finally landing one softly against his lips.

"Come on, we both need a distraction" Her head gestured towards the bedroom, another kiss pressing against the corner of his mouth. She was more than ready to lose herself from reality and be done with the day.

Welcome to Day 2. You have made it this far and that is saying something. Randomizations have been being made for various characters over the course of day one, which lead to rolls for Lady Luck to see who lived and who died. Danica was the first to go. So who will be next? Day 2, we begin with everyone in their place and planning out their days but what happens is not always what is planned now is it? Each one of you sent in a PM telling what you were wanting to have your character do for the day. With what was sent each character (or character pair) was given a specific set of possible outcomes for the first part of their day and put to the dice to see what could happen. Rolls were logged and below you will find what happens for your characters first part of the day. Use the information below to plan out your post and what you will do next. Cross your fingers folks and repeat after me; "Luck be a Lady Tonight, Luck if you've been a lady to begin with, Luck be a lady tonight!"

The Inner Workings of a Killer Part 2: Abyss

I watched him from the moment he had arrived at the party. Why he was on the list? I didn't know, it's not like it mattered. Lyle Marleston was a contract, nothing more. He had been a creature of routine, which made it easy to keep track of his movements. After Danica Graves fell, the police swarmed in but they didn't hang around long, too busy with the other problems of this God forsaken town. When everyone had dispersed from the party, guests and police alike, Lyle had opted to go for a walk. This was good, this made it easier for me and less likely for anyone to know anything and tie him to what was happening. There was a park not too far from Boston Heights, it was his obvious destination so I took a short cut to get there before him. He was walking through town as it was getting dark, foolish boy. He reached McKenna Park several minutes after I did. I was already positioned perfectly. I didn't have my weapons, the police presence had made sure that I didn't have time to get them. That was fine, I had other options. Lyle sat on the ledge of the McKenna fountain, staring into the blue light that illuminated the water. They built this fountain in memory of Hal McKenna, the Mayor I killed six years ago. It was almost poetic that I was about to use it for the same thing.

"Good evening, Mr Marleston. Thank you for having the good sense to be frightened"

I placed my gloved hand on the back of his head and forced him into the water, picking up a decorative cobblestone as I did so. I raised the stone high and cracked it on the back of his skull twice. Blood began to seep into the pool of water, his life ebbing away and being sucked into a drain to be spread out across the ocean. His body went limp and I rolled it into the fountain, watching it sink next to the cobblestone I had used to cave his head in. His glasses floated to the surface, blood stained and broken. I placed them in my pocket. They could prove useful later.

"Goodnight, Mr Marleston"

Detective Roy Gregory

Location: Police Precinct 54

Gregory had been at his desk all night since he left Boston Heights. Something was not sitting well with him after he had seen what was on Danica's laptop back at her apartment. The only thing he had done other than making sure the officer was still standing his post and was relieved with a changing of the guard it was come morning was go through the woman computer. The more he dug the more things that didn't make sense started to but it also arose other questions.

"Mary, get me case file number 4827-IB-861 please," he said as he leaned back in his chair, rocking back and forth a bit as it squeaked from old age and over use. Propping his elbow up on the arm of the chair he rubbed his chin as he waited for the young rookie to bring him the hard file and his notes that were in it. The file, one he had over seen six months before, was on the case of Peyton Glencross.

As Officer Mary Stiner came over and plopped the file down on his desk he leaned up and opened the file. Picking up his notes and thumbing through them. Looking back over to Danica's laptop for a minute, then back at the file. To the laptop and to the files. Seemed the two women had much more in common than just the apparent suicides they shared at Boston Heights. Danica Graves and Peyton Glencross shared something much more than that; their biological father.

"Fucking hell," he muttered under his breath as he slammed Peyton's file closed, followed by Danica's laptop. Danica didn't buy that her half sister had killed herself and had moved out to Justice to find out what really happened. She had all her research and reasons laid out on her laptop. Gregory hadn't made the connection that the two were siblings until he double checked Danica's email contacts and Peyton's file. There was an email to "Dad" in Danica's sent folder, to the same man Gregory had to contact to inform that his daughter Peyton was dead. Leaning back in his seat he picked up the knickknack that had been on Danica's desk and turned it over in his hands. This just got a lot more complicated.

@Morose - You head into work that morning, wanting to go over what you took pictures of personally and wanting to check out what the rest of the team found. As you get there you hear rummaging going on in Wallace's Office and the door is cracked opened. This does not sit right with you, he usually isn't in on Saturdays but he was acting more off than usual last night. Maybe he came into work, or maybe he pulled one of his sporadic all nighters. You go to check, just in case. Peaking your head into the office you catch a sight of what appears to be a middle aged woman with a blond pony tail pocketing an evidence bag. She looks at you with steely blue eyes and looks half crazed; she is wearing black combat boots, cargo pants and a tank top, thin but cut to hell and back. Within a flash she has a weapon drawn and fires it at your head, the bullet whizzes passed your head and splinters the door jam next to you. She jumps the desk, body checks you sending you hitting the ground hard before darting down the hall and out the door. She is gone by the time you or anyone else can get to the alleyway.

@Pundii & @Lady Amalthea - Risa wakes up long before Lucas, still being on Geneva time and all that. She gets up quietly and heads out for a quick trip down to a corner store without waking her boyfriend or roommate. No problems until she gets home and the door jams a little bit. Shouldering it she finally gets the damn thing open and bam, it opens loudly. The rest of the apartment is awake now. After breakfast you two head out to the U.N. Risa got a text saying she needs to stop in this morning so she can get her ID made and finish up some paper work.

@Dragoknighte - You head out to the gym for your morning work out and all seems fine. That is until you are leaving the gym to head home and you run into a "friend" of one of the assholes butts you kicked last night. He's been looking for you. Revenge apparently is a dish best served hot in his mind. He looks as strung out as the other two and has the same tattoo. He gets the jump on your to start but in the end after a few quick exchanges he runs off into the crowd and you are okay minus a few minor injuries

@Nallore - You are off to the gym to work out, not the same one that Mali went to though. You're a rock star, you need more privacy, especially after last night. Things at the gym seem pretty calm, a few people talking about the news story that aired last night but luckily enough, when they show your image on the TV no one makes the connection between you on TV and you in the gym, or at least if they did, they are not saying anything.

@Sigil - Well, after completely getting the girls to say NO to Taco Tattoo's they opted to head out early and ditch you for the day. So you are home with your camera footage from the night before. The images are clear and such, but doesn't seem to matter how many times you go over said footage, just nothing is popping at you anymore than it did last night. Nothing knew. Maybe you need a fresh set of eyes to look at it, was that girl last night at the scene. The one that you set up the blockade for. Might be time for a phone call because right now you ain't got shit.

@Charnobylisk & @Lady Amalthea - You two are headed for Queensguard Industries newest development in the Diamond District. This is a chance to really get your foot in the door for the company that runs so much around. This is their research division and was previously being handled internally but the former Lead Security Guard allowed a break in to happen and was fired. It was decided to bring in outside help for this facility. As you are setting up for your first day the former employee shows up drunk as hell and causing some real issues - waiving a gun around and threatening everyone. Neutralize the situation.

@Xtreme & @Pundii - You two are headed to the same location but when you get there it isn't what you expected to find. Jeremy arrives first, followed by JD. The woman you are both looking for is there but she looks frazzled as hell. Seems while she was out last night the place was broken into and ransacked. She still isn't sure what was taken if anything but the place is a mess and she was dealing with the cops all night long. Thankfully for you the cops are already gone since several of the ones that worked on the murder last night were called out for this one right after. That could have been awkward! Still is but at least not with the police at this time.

@POOHEAD189 - You head over to Juno's Greek again, Sarah is there working behind the counter. She is a little more receptive to you today than she was yesterday and since it is Saturday morning the place isn't near as crowded as it was the day before. She tells you about the Roller Derby going on tonight where she is trying out for the restaurants team. It's being held at the Juno Baller Rink in the Deadlight District over by the docks. Rough part of town. Tells you to be there at 7 p.m. sharp. Sounds interesting, though you might want to check in with the Gregory after last night to give him what your team found since he was gone before you could tell him the night before.

@Lady Amalthea - Lawson is headed into work with Lance Clemens. Things are pretty calm at work today and the boss invite you in on a game of poker for now. The group is of the usual high end low life's and mob bosses. They are interested to know why a former Marine would come to the dark side since their cookies suck. Comments are made, one that strikes you as odd - What on earth are they talking about; that the reason the girl took a nose dive off a building was because of her DNA?

@Xtreme & @DizzyIsabella - It is Saturday and while Cam wants to go see his doctor you aren't even sure if he will be in. He isn't answering his phone. That isn't going to stop you, you climb into your car and head over anyways, hoping to catch him there but it breaks down for no apparent reason before you even get half way there. Might just be better to walk. Once you get there you catch the doctor about to leave his office for the day, having only stopped in to drop off a patient file. He is reluctant to stay but after seeing the look in Cam's eye agrees and ushers you inside.

@Charnobylisk - Lana went for coffee this morning in the Russian part of town. Things seem calm until you receive a call from an unknown number as you answer it you hear a voice on the other end that you cannot place as male or female but they say the following- "Get rid of file number SGJFE-1432 of your former roommates" - before hanging up. Soon as the call is over there is a breaking news story popping up on the cafe's flat screen - "This just in! Lyle Marleston, a local attorney, was found dead in the fountain at McKenna park. Cause of death unknown but we will keep you posted as the story unfolds. Now back to your regularly scheduled program."

Cecily Ashworth

Location: Wallace's Office

Cecily pulled up in her impala, parking it a bit crooked. She sighed, attempting to straighten up, before just leaving it as it was. It was between the lines--that was all that really mattered. Putting her keys in her pocket and wearing her little badge around her neck, she walked inside, putting her phone inside of her purse. Hardly watching as she went in, she made her way back to her work station, setting down her things. People hardly ever came in on a Saturday, unless they were specifically requested.

"Wallace, that you?" Cecily asked, leaving her desk and peering around the corner into Wallace's office. Someone was definitely messing around with the files, though with the likely connection of last night's case, Cecily imagined that Wallace might have turned over a new leaf, and actually gotten to work. She bit her lip slightly, prepared for some sort of lecture about the fine art of crime scene science, usually followed up by some sort of criticism of her work methods.

She didn't expect the psychotic blonde with a ponytail to pull a gun on her.

Her eyes widened, and she gulped, slowly raising her hands in the air. "I...I....I come in peace..." Cecily blurted, saying the first thing that came to mind. She didn't have time to mentally kick herself.

The gun fired. She could feel the bullet whoosh right by her head, before finding its final resting place in the door behind her. Not having enough time to simply scream, Cecily hardly saw the woman strike her. All she knew was that one minute she was being shot at, and the next moment she was on the floor, her vision a bit blurred. By the time it cleared, the room was empty.

Physical stamina was never her thing. Her head was pounding, and rather than sitting up, she grabbed her phone out of her pocket. Tapping on it, she opened up voice memos, and clicked record.

"Cecily Ashworth, just reported to work at the time of this recording. Heard rustling in Wallace's office, went to investigate. Shot at and assaulted by a blonde woman, estimate age...50 years old. Woman appeared to be on substances. Eyes were...blue. Hair was...styled, most likely ponytail. Very tight clothing. Suspect grabbed an unknown piece of evidence from Wallace's office."

She tapped finish on the voice memo, and clicking on the tiny up arrow, told it to be sent as a text message. She sent it to two people, figuring that the assailant couldn't murder everyone, in the worst possible scenario. The first person she sent it to was Riley; the second person she sent it to was Detective Gregory.

The next thing she did, of course, was to stand. While most called the police straight away, she cared more about the truth than her own health. Human memory is only sixty percent accurate at best--she hoped desperately that she hadn't missed any key details, and that the voice recording would somehow prove helpful. Glancing up at the clock, she considered for a moment returning to work.

"Call the police," Cecily berated herself, picking up her phone and dialing the precinct. "Cecily Ashworth again, forensics, we've just had an armed intruder and a break-in. No personnel count has been taken yet, but it appears no casualties."

Once she finished speaking with the officer on the phone, she hanged up. The card from the terrifying Mexican was in her pocket, and she glanced at it with slightly shaking hands. It wouldn't be the most terrifying thing she'd have to do that day, for sure. Attempting some normalcy, she locked Wallace's office behind her, and went back to her workstation. Uploading the videos and pictures from the previous night, Cecily sent them to the other forensic technicians, as well as the officers working the case.

Just a normal day, Cecily tried to convince herself. Just a normal day...

Caesar Gonzalez

Location: The Regal Building, Apartment 1D (His)

Far from the old, miserly type that didn't respond well to changes in technology, Caesar had a firm grasp on modern tech. Particularly as it pertained to his chosen occupation, he was quite savvy. That being said, the old man attacked his footage from the previous night with the utmost of concentration and technical literacy. The scrutiny was intense. Hell, the old man limited himself to only four drinks throughout the workday, so solid was his desire for a clear, contemplative metric of his video.

Caesar paced. He sharpened his knives. Twirled his machetes. Got in a workout or two. He did many things that were not directly related to watching the video. Yet, always in his mind were the images. Maybe there was a detail he missed. Of course, he lacked perspective. In order to find a connection, he first had to have strong general knowledge about the people around the area, with which to compare to his experiences securing the crime scene and holding the line. Unfortunately, he wasn't exactly the social butterfly. He would need to show his findings to someone else.

Immediately, his thoughts drifted toward his daughter. She was younger, more outgoing. As was Lorna. And they both had been in town for a half year longer then himself. But... there was still lingering animosity due to his attempt at Taco based humor. Despite this, Caesar had given an order for them to check the video upload to the company server, and he was certain that it would be carried out. He did mention that it was not an extreme rush. Best to give them space for now.

On the other hand, he still needed perspective. Now, who else could he turn to that might have that necessary perspective, coupled with a willingness to actually see something solid done? Maybe the friendly lab tech from the previous night. He had passed a business card off to her, but that was no guarantee that he would hear back. He didn't even catch the girl's name. Whelp, this wasn't anything that a good, old fashioned bit of cyber stalking couldn't fix.

Caesar returned to his laptop and minimized his earlier work. He opened a secure browser and began to dig. It was easy enough to locate the Justice Medical Examiner's website. Government employees were, by law, openly listed. Unfortunately, their pictures were not. So, he narrowed down the list to female names, and plugged them into a broad search, one at a time. The search was narrowed to account for her physical characteristics and apparent age, education, location, etc. Over a short time, a picture emerged from the mass of others. That was her.

Cecily Ashworth.

He quickly thumbed in the number to the Justice Medical Examiner's Office. It rang a few times before an automated voice asked him to press 1 para Español. He kept to English. Eventually, he was transferred three different times until he got a message stating that he had reached Forensic Technician Cecily Ashworth's voicemail. Ok, he could work with this.

"Miss Ashworth, this is Caesar. Por favor come and meet with me when you receive this. Need your help with something. You know where I'll be."

Location: Apartment 2B -> The Gym -> Apartment 2B again

Beep Beep

Everything was back to normal. Same 6 AM alarm. Same room. Same apartment. Mali tried to shrug off her thoughts as she went about her morning schedule. She brushed her teeth with the same toothbrush as yesterday, grabbed the same old water bottle and put on workout clothes that were definitely not the same as yesterday's (gross), but still a familiar set of clothes that she wore quite a bit. It was only when she passed by her dresser again to grab her phone that she really took notice of that business card that that kid had given her yesterday.

It sat there in the shuttered twilight, giving off only the dimmest of reflections possible. As if the atmosphere of the city and what had transpired mere hours ago suppressed even natural phenomena. The red light it glimmered with was just enough to make out the words again: Relic. A quiet uneasiness came over the room and time slowed to a crawl. Mali's hand moved before she could think about what it was doing and picked up the card. Call in case of emergencies, eh? Maybe that will come in handy sooner than she would have thought less than 12 hours ago. She pocketed the card, noting to herself to commit the phone number to memory later. A business card can be a fragile thing.

The walk to the gym and the process of working out went as they usually did, but Mali couldn't stop the thoughts about last night any longer. Every movement her body took had her mind react, going over every last detail of not just the death, but also everything she had seen on the scene afterward. She wasn't really disturbed, or traumatized by the event. It's not like she killed or was attached to the deceased girl, but the event still didn't sit with her well. It just didn't feel right. Maybe that's just how it feels like to witness a bizarre suicide. Music did little to quiet her thoughts, but she kept the headphones in, if only to keep a rhythm to keep the exercise going at a steady pace.

It wasn't until on the way home when some meth head rushed her that Mali managed to truly separate her mind from the night prior. And even then, she didn't fully process that she was getting jumped until he had punched her in the face for the third time. Fucking hell, no good deed goes unpunished in Justice, does it? The meth head reared back for a fourth punch, this time to find it blocked by a thick forearm and then suddenly Mali's fist was lodged directly into his face.

Mali stepped in to follow up, but received another punch square in the gut that knocked the breath out of her. She managed to avoid doubling over through sheer force of will, blocking another attack from the strung out druggie. She grit her teeth and sucked in a lungful of air that her body desperately needed, it filled her exhausted muscles with enough energy for the next thing she was about to do. She threw an uppercut that caught the druggie in the solar plexus, knocking the breath out of him. She then completely returned the favor he dealt and then some, punching him twice in the face, the second time extending out her thumb, which caught his eyeball, pushing it in with a satisfyingly bloody squish. Mali withdrew her fist and noted that she'd need to wash her thumb extra well once she got home. For all she knew the guy's blood was 50% meth. The druggie grabbed his eye and ran off into the crowd before Mali could finish him off.

Wait.

Crowd? It was then that Mali looked around and saw that she was indeed standing in the middle of the sidewalk, surrounded by a ring of people, staring some of which had cellphones out, pointed at her and at least one kid in the back shouting "Worldstar! Worldstar!"

"What are you looking at?" Mali snapped at the audience, wiping her thumb on her leg, "Get out of here!" The crowd gave her an extra wide berth as she left the scene of the fight. The joys of life in the city never ended.

Riley Ridgeway

Location: The Classic Building 3C, then the gym

Riley yawned loudly as she heard her alarm going off she looked at her phone it was 7:30AM. She would let out a soft groan as she got up from her bed, today was her work out day as Riley walked over towards her dresser and pulled out a grey tank top as well as some sweat pants. Riley quickly got changed into her workout clothes and left her bedroom, she headed into the kitchen and pulled out some cheese and poured herself a glass of milk. Riley took a bite into the cheese and took a sip of her milk while grabbing a water bottle from the fridge she turned on the tv and started to show the news from last night what happened at the block party. Riley shuddered slightly as she remembered what happened to Danica the night before and felt bad for her, Riley quickly turned off the tv and finished her quick snack.

Riley grabbed her car and apartment keys and quickly headed out of the apartment, she knew she wouldn't see Cecily because her roommate would always be out of the apartment way before she would. Riley headed to her car and quickly got in, she started the drive towards one of the gyms that was one of the smaller ones in Justice, mainly because she wanted less people around her and to disturb her during her workout.

Once she was there Riley made her way into the gym Riley pulled out a pair of ear phones and plugged them into her phone, and placed the ear phones into her ear. Riley looked up at the tv screen once more still the same news story was playing, she randomly put a song on. Riley walked over towards the treadmill and selected the speed she wanted, Riley mainly just worked on cardio workouts more then anything. Riley was on there for about thirty minutes until she heard the song stopping for a second and her phone vibrating to show that she had gotten a text. Riley quickly lowered the speed and stepped off it was a text from Cecily.

Very ripped clothing. Suspect grabbed an unknown piece of evidence from Wallace's office."

Seeing the words shot at and assaulted Riley started to get really worried for her roommate she did start to get feelings for Cecily and remembered the kiss last night. Riley looked at some of the other gym goers who some were staring at her, feeling slightly uncomfortable Riley took a step towards the locker room where it was more private and secure. Riley quickly searched through her contacts, and found Cecily's cell phone number, Riley waited for several rings until she finally got an answer. "Cecily! I just got your text, is everything alright?" Riley asked sounding very worried and concerned for her friend.

Detective Roy Gregory

Location: Police Precinct 54 --> Heading Towards The County Coroners Office

"Yes, I promise, I will keep you posted. Again, are you sure? Yes sir. No I understand. Will take care of it. Yes. Goodbye," Gregory said into the phone before hanging up the receiver at his desk and rubbing his face. That was the call he always hated making the most, letting the next of kin know that their loved one was gone. The man had thought he was joking when he called. Thinking maybe he was just updating him, that he had found something new with Peytons case even though it was closed. When he finally convinced him that it was about his eldest daughter the phone had gone silent for a good minute or two before the girls father was able to say anything.

Gregory promised that he would find out what happened and make sure to send Danica's body home to Oregon so she could be laid to rest next to her sister. No parent should ever have to bury their child, to have to bury two of them within months of each other was a new level of hell but this was Justice. Justice was skilled in coming up with new hell's. This one was not the first siblings it had done in, but this one was hitting a little closer to home as he opened the file of Peyton and then looked over to the file for Danica. Seeing the two girls who if he had seen on the street wouldn't have suspected they were related but the more he looked at their images, the more he saw of them. Especially the light in their eyes.

Sighing he closed the files and reached into his pocket as his phone went off. Palming the device he tapped the screen. Reading over the message slowly as he sat up rapidly. "Fucking hell," he said as he stood up and dropped the phone back into his pocket. Grabbing his jacket and gun he rushed out of the office and down to his car. If what was missing what he thought was he was about to go off on the deep end to the captain. Jumping into the car he sped off towards downtown and the country coroners office to see what was going on. This wasn't something he just wanted to phone in.

Risa Couri

Location: Apartment 1B --> Corner Store --> Apartment 1B

Risa woke up early, way too early for her liking but she was still on Geneva time. Might have been 6:00 AM in Justice, but it was 3:00P.M. in Geneva. Her body wanted her to believe that it was that late in the day already. Grumbling she buried her face against Lucas's chest as she curled up against him. She didn't even remember climbing into bed the night before and figured she had pulled one of her usual passing out at the dinner table after a long day and Lucas had pulled his usual of scooping her up and tucking her in. Propping her head in the palm of her hand as she smiled at him, watching him sleep.

Leaning forward she kissed him softly before slipping out of bed and getting dressed. She knew she wouldn't be able to go back to sleep and would end up just laying there fidgeting until she woke him up. Grabbing his keys and her purse she slipped out the front door quietly and headed down the stairs and to the street. The city was just starting to wake up and she remembered seeing a small corner store not too far from their new home on their way from the airport. Smiling to herself she had decided to see what she could find and make him breakfast. He had picked her up from the airport, and had flowers waiting on her when they got home, and made her dinner, and brought her wine, and carried her ass to bed when she passed out. A little breakfast was the least she could do. Well the least she could do was to still be laying in bed but oh well.

Stepping into the store she smiled over to the clerk before she grabbed a basket and started going up and down the few isles that were there. She wasn't sure what all they had in the pantry and the refrigerator right then, or even what pots and pans they had; figuring from the look of the place Lucas had left a lot of their things in storage and just made sure the bedroom was set up. She was able to find a few things; strawberries, yogurt, some pastries and deli meats. Wasn't anything big but it was at least something until she could take a better stock of what all they had.

Paying for everything, she headed back to the apartment. Pulling out Lucas's keys she went through a couple of them before she found the right one for their front door. Setting it in the lock she turned it and then the knob but the door wouldn't budge. Pushing harder, it still didn't. "Hitto," she grumbled under her breath. Shouldering the door a few for more times and kicking it slightly with the tip of her heel as she began to get frustrated.

Finally she took a deep breath, pushing her hair back as she shoulder checked the door once more with a lot more force than before. It opened alright, finally. Yet Risa really hadn't thought it would and ended up spilling out as the door flew open. Over the coffee table as she spun like a cartoon and landed on her rear end on the couch, still clutching the bag of groceries against her chest. The keys still hanging in the lock as she stared at the opened door, it mocking her. Well there went getting breakfast ready before Lucas woke up, that tumble and the scream that had come out was more than enough to wake up the dead.

Alicia had rolled out of bed hours ago; tackling her mourning work out and shower. Today was supposed to be a big day for her and Lorna. Through a few well made connections that Alicia had gotten since moving to Justice she was able to get a trial contract with Queensguard Industries for Machete Security Services. They had a new RnD facility in the Diamond Districts newest Industrial Complex and today she was supposed to be taking over there and getting everything set up and upgraded. The old team that was an in hour hire had been fired after a break in. Alicia smirked to herself, this was part of the job she loved. The set up.

Stepping into the kitchen after getting dressed she grabbed a cup of coffee and loaded up a plate with left over enchiladas from the night before. "Cookie! Come on! We gotta head out in thirty!" Alicia yelled down the hall as she pulled over a stool and had a seat. Tapping her fork against her plate as she took a sip of coffee before she started to eat, flipping through the file on the place.

It would be a complex set up, a lot of internal and external security was going to be needed but most of it was in place. Sure it was Saturday but that was all well and good for her. It meant most of the offices were going to be empty today, it was going to be a lot less crowded, which would make what all her and Lorna needed to do a lot simpler. They could knock out a good portion today, the rest tomorrow. Then come Monday they would just need to id those that hadn't been in over the the last couple of days.

It should go smoothly enough, but hey if not. Alicia knew that she and Lorna were ready for it. They made sure to always prepare for the worst case scenario. Especially in contract take overs. There was always at least one idiot that wanted to piss in the works for getting laid off. Not that she could blame people, work was hard to come by. Then again, maybe if they could keep their calm and head about them better they wouldn't have needed to be fired in the first.

Jeremy Bennet

Location: Noelle Morgan's Home

The streets of Justice rolled by Jeremy as he sat atop his bike, the wind blowing by and hitting him with an almost relaxing chill. He'd stuck around later than most at the party the night before, though he didn't do a great deal after his conversation with the detective. Jeremy had simply lingered about, keeping his eye out for anything major but nothing had really turned up. Still, the events of the night before had certainly been enough to drive his actions today. He hadn't seen Noelle for a long while, it was only a short while before he went to prison, but he remembered well enough where she lived and figured she would remember him well enough as well.

It wasn't too long of a drive from the Heights to her home, and it wasn't particularly hard to find a place to park, though that was usually just the benefit of his preferred vehicle. Pulling up outside, he kicked down the rest on his bike and climbed off, glancing over the house. It looked more or less the same, apart from one major difference, the smashed window and torn 'crime scene' tape over it. He glanced around, there were no police vehicles around, nor were there any officers. A sinking feeling suddenly filled his stomach at the thought that perhaps he was too late, had she been targeted the night before along with Danica?

"Oh, shit." Hurrying up to the front door, he knocked firmly, hearing the sound of movement on the other side of the door he reached back, tucking his hand under his shirt and taking hold of the pistol he had tucked into a holster in the back of his trousers. When the door opened and Jeremy confirmed that it was indeed Noelle, he let out a sigh of relief, taking his hand off his weapon and tucking his shirt over it again. "Noelle, it's been a while... Are you alright? What happened?"

Lucas Walsh

Location: Apartment 1B

Lucas had been experiencing the most wonderful of dreams. There was just something about this dream in particular, everything was so peaceful, happy, perfect. In fact, Lucas was fairly sure he'd never had a better night's sleep in his entire life, he wasn't sure he quite wanted it to end. So, it would be fairly understandable his displeasure at being suddenly and violently awoken by a scream equivalent to the Witch King's and the sound of crashing and tumbling elsewhere in the apartment. His eyes popped open rather suddenly, and his face subconsciously buried itself further into the pillow, a long groan emitting from said pillow.

He didn't need to check next to him, he knew immediately who had been the source of the scream. He told himself that it had not been intentional, so as to sate some of the immense displeasure he felt at being ripped rudely from his slumber. If there was one thing Lucas enjoyed, it was a weekend's sleep in, unfortunately it seemed that day he would be denied one of life's greatest pleasures. Go figure. Slowly his head lifted itself off the pillow, Lucas making a tremendous effort to sit up. The effort was not a success, fairly rapidly his head hit the pillow once more and he let out yet another groan of disapproval.

He figured he did have to go check if she was alright, generally someone only made a scream like that if they were in some reasonable distress, and Risa was the love of his life. What kind of boyfriend would he have been if he just lay there and went back to sleep instead of rushing to her rescue? He was meant to be her knight in shining armour, the prince charming to her damsel in distress. He was to rescue her from the metaphorical dragon, to break the metaphorical spells trapping her, to do that thing Liam Neeson does in the Taken films. He had to ensure she was alright.

"Did you die?" His voice called out as his face laid in the pillow.

Well, it was a start.

Joseph 'Tank' Cooper

He left the Greek place a little before noon time, the sun's rays feeling extra good after that discussion with Sarah. He had to admit, she wasn't someone you messed with (much). He'd given her a big grin when she'd told him to meet her at one of the rougher places in town that night. Meant she was a rough girl, and he had no problems with that.

He wouldn't be late, he decided. He'd not be early either. He'd arrive precisely when he meant to. That's how the classy guys do it, after all. Make them wonder, but not get them pissed. In fact, get them just ready to be pissed before you surprise them and make them feel silly for doubting you.

He made it to the other side of the street and leaned on his bike before calling up Greg. He needed to make sure those idiots from yesterday told him anything that he found out or kept quiet. He almost didn't dial the number, thinking that he might be dragged into some shit that would make him late for tonight, but he doubted it. Even if that were the case and he needed to go in, it was nothing he couldn't handle. Once Greg picked it up, Tank started talking.

"Hey Greg it's Tank, listen. Not sure if you were told but when I made it to the 2nd roof yesterday, it looked like the guy really did make that leap of faith and land in a roll. He knew what he was doing at least, judging by the athleticism and the boots he was wearing. There was some blood too, and it looked like he made it down the fire escape and the back stairs into the alleyway, but the trail goes cold after that."

Mr and Mrs White

Lyndsay hadn't slept well the night before, tossing and turning with images of the dead girl ingrained into her memory. She'd risen sleepy-eyed, un-tucking herself from Cam's still sleeping form and left for the kitchen as the sun came up. She'd sat and read for a couple of hours with a warm cup of tea, and once she felt a little more human, started on some breakfast. Eggs were her speciality, plus they both wanted the protein, so she began cooking some up with some toast. She hadn't turned any music on to let Cam sleep more, so just hummed to herself for entertainment. As she reached to grab some pepper to put in the eggs, her hand pressed too long on the side of the pan, singeing her skin. "Crap. Ow. Darnit" She cursed, making the pan clatter again as she pulled her hand away. Being quiet wasn't her strong point. Reaching to run her hand under water, she frowned, looking down at the singe mark.

Cam woke to the sound of clattering, soft humming and sizzling from the kitchen. His wife had clearly risen with the sun, but he continued to stretch out in their bed, rubbing his hands over his stubbled cheeks. He wasn't looking forward to a session with Dr Keller, but he knew it would put Lyndsay's mind at rest, and maybe help him feel a little better. He heard a soft curse and clatter in the kitchen, and smiled, she probably needed help. She was graceful and poised when she was dancing or working out, but she could still be clumsy. He got up out of the bed and stretched his arms above his head, wandering out into the main area of the apartment. "What've you done now?"

Turning to look over her shoulder, Lyndsay emphasised her pout."Burnt myself making you some dang eggs" The sting had already gone from the burn, but she knew he'd know she was just playing the martyr. She pulled her hand back from the water and held it out to him. "Not the worst I've ever done She gave him a smile, she knew he'd be tense about going to Dr Keller's, and he didn't need worrying about a little burn.

Cam reached out and took Lyndsay's hand, giving the burn a kiss. "Silly girl." He gave her another kiss, this time on the lips, dipping her down backwards a little dramatically. He lifted her back up, placing her on her feet and inhaling deeply. "Smells great though, thanks babe." He pressed another kiss against her cheek and reached for two plates, plating up their breakfast and turning on the radio. They sat and ate mostly quietly, humming along to familiar music, happy to just be in eachother's company.

"So do you think today will help you feel a little better? I hope so. You know I worry about you" Lyndsay kept one hand on the steering wheel, the other reaching to squeeze Cam's knee. She hadn't let him drive, even though he'd protested, not after he'd banged his head the day before, even though he'd insisted he felt fine. They were about fifteen minutes from the doctor's office, and it wouldn't take much longer.

Cam opened his mouth to respond, but was distracted by a loud clanging from the car's engine, heard even over the music playing from the radio. The car began to tick slowly, chugging along slowly until it began to stop. Lyndsay just managed to pull it over into a parking space on the side of the road, before everything switched off altogether. He frowned down at the dashboard of the car, turning to Lyndsay and opening his mouth to speak.

As the car began to bang and shudder, Lyndsay pumped the break cautiously, the car began to slow down more and more, even though she'd stopped breaking, so she pulled over. She didn't have to turn off the engine, it stopped completely before she had a chance. She heard Cam inhale to speak, and held up a hand to silence him. "If you say anything about my baby, especially if it includes the words 'hunk' and 'junk' I will end you" She tried to start the engine again by turning the key, but the car didn't even make a sound.

Cam knew when not to push his woman, and she was precious about her old car, so he didn't mention anything about it being a huge pile of junk. He checked his watch and frowned. "Lynds, if we wait for breakdown recovery, we won't make it before Keller goes on lunch, and he's not answering his phone, so there'll be no chance of seeing him. We should just walk."

Lyndsay sighed, and after a few more tries, admitted defeat. The two abandoned the car and walked the rest of the way. It was a nice day, a cool breeze meaning the heat didn't feel so humid on their skin. They talked and walked hand in hand the rest of the way, the fresh air relaxing them a little more than stuck in a stuffy car.

As they arrived, Dr Keller was fumbling with his keys, locking up, with files in his hands. They were just in time.

Svetlana Volkov

Location: Russian Part of Town: Cafe >> Boston Heights: Her and Lyle's Apartment >> Fleeing from the scene
Current Outfit: Clothing

After Lyle hadn't shown up at home after the events of the block party, Lana had apologised to the officer she had kept waiting and showed them out of the flat, promising to call if she heard from Lyle and inform him that the police wanted to question him. She had been slightly worried but then started to wonder if he was perhaps responsible. He'd clammed up as soon as they'd headed down to the block party yesterday and then had disappeared off by himself. Lana was glad for the vast amount of security that she had not only on the flat itself, but in her own room. Her sleep had been broken last night and she had decided that instead of staying in the flat alone, waiting for Lyle to show up, she would head out for some breakfast and coffee from somewhere.

She'd headed straight for the Russian sector of Justice and found a nice little cafe that would suit her needs. She found a quiet little table away from the main bustle of the kitchen and front counter and set herself up with her surface, searching for leads on work and keeping up to date with the news on the happenings from last night at Boston Heights. She sipped her steaming cup of coffee and set it down gently while continuing to type away on her computer. Her phone began to buzz, shifting itself on the flat surface of the cafe table and she raised a brow. No one usually called her, perhaps it was Lyle? She frowned and picked up her phone, looking at the display. Unknown Number. Not unusual for Lana to get those, maybe it was work from some underground contacts.

Lifting the phone to her ear she listened to the peculiar voice from beyond. No introduction wasn't unusual, weird voice also wasn't unusual, not being able to place the voice as male or female? Rather peculiar but not entirely uncommon. The content of the call however, made her eyes widen in surprise. A file of Lyle's? What had he done now... The call ended before she could say anything. Was that Lyle? What was he hiding now? She'd have to find out. Gathering her items together quickly, Lana packed her bag up and gave a sorrowful look towards her half drank mug of coffee before standing up from her seat. That's when the screen changed in the cafe and the news began to roll out.

Lana held her hand up to her mouth and stared at the screen as it announced Lyle's death. What had he been tied up in? Gathering herself quickly, Lana departed from the cafe and made her way out onto her motorcycle. She sped through the streets, without drawing too much attention of course, and made it back to Boston Heights. She parked up and made a b-line straight for her flat, trying not to run too quickly as she did. She made it to the flat and opened up the door, locking it up tightly behind her and made her way directly to Lyle's room.

It was an absolute clusterfuck of files and folders... This was going to take some time. At least it wouldn't be obvious that anyone had been going through the files considering the absolute mess of them. She wondered why a lawyer didn't have a better filing system and groaned inwardly about Lyle and his nonsense. Had anyone heard or seen her then it would seem like she was cold hearted, and in a sense, she was. She just didn't grow attached to people because she knew it always led to heartache and pain, so it really wasn't worth the effort. After about an hour of searching, Lana found the file and she pumped her fist in success. Did she want to know what was inside this? Her curiousity was winning out but she had been asked to get rid of it.

She took a good ten minutes before she decided to open the file and look at what was inside.

Lorna Dunn

Location: Boston Heights: Apartment 2D

Lorna had been out from early in the morning; doing her usual running route. She hadn't asked Alicia to come with her this time because she needed some time to herself. She enjoyed the pounding of her blood in her ears, her feet slapping on the asphalt and the wind cooling the slick sweat on her skin as she ran. It always helped to focus her and she was half tempted to do some free running but figured that, after what had happened to Danica, it would be best to keep in sight of people. After her run she had headed back and slipped into the shower and then made her way back to her bedroom to do her routine of sit ups, push ups, lunges, pull ups, weight lifting, the works.

She heard Alicia getting back from her workout and listened to the pipes running with water as she finished up her workout regime. That's when she started chasing her from the kitchen and Lorna couldn't help but smirk. That woman always knew how wrapped up Lorna got in her regimen. "Yeah, yeah. Just five more reps!" She completed her circuit and stretched herself out, cooling down her muscles. She got dressed and made her way out from her bedroom, seeing Alicia with her leftovers and coffee. Lorna wrinkled her nose and gagged at the smell of the coffee. "Don't get why ya even drink that shit." She grabbed a couple protein bars out of the box sitting on the counter by the toaster and began to chow down.

Leaning against the counter, Lorna turned to watch Alicia and raised a brow. "Today is goin' t'be fun." She grinned through them mouthful of oats, grains and raisins as she looked over at Alicia. She was looking forward to throwing some assholes onto their backs when they tried to get smart when Machete Security took over their old gig. It was always the same. "So what number are ya backin' today? How many ya reckon we are goin' need t'floor 'fore they listen t'reason?"

@Morose There is only a couple of others there with you that had been in that early on a Saturday, one of them being the janitor. Neither saw anything. The junior member of your team has locked off Wallace's office and keeps trying to get a hold of Wallace but the man is not answering his phone. This isn't particularly unusual. There have been many a weekend where he has just vanished off the face of the Earth and refuses to reply to any messages or voice mails, only to show up Monday morning as if it was the most natural thing in the world. As you sit there, two paramedics roll in a body in a bag and toss down the paper work and evidence on top of the body as they looked at you. "Seems your neighborhood is popular," one of them quips. Inside the you will find case number VNYED-59325, Lyle Marlestone, found dead in the fountain at McKenna Park just north of your Apartment, suspected drowning,

@Sigil You are sitting there waiting for Cecily to get back to you, you keep going over the footage but still nothing is popping up for you. TV is on in the background and a breaking news story comes on. Lyle Marlestone is dead, updated news says that the police suspect drowning, no suspects yet, open case. You remember Lyle from the party, more than that, you remember that the man lived in the same building as Alicia.

@Dragoknighte The crowd gives you room to leave but there are a couple of on lookers that want to know more. They are pushing after you and trying to get you to talk. Camera's are still out, trying to record you for whatever reason they have. They are pretty pushy about the entire thing and keep jumping in front of you trying to get you to stop to talk. Asking if the man stole anything, why he could jump you, and such. They are rather curious.

@Nallore You get back to the locker room without issue and there are only a couple of people standing about getting ready for their work outs, they are paying you no mind. As you are waiting for Cecily to answer the phone, the news pops up about Lyle. What a way to start the day.

@Pundii Noelle only nods a bit and lets you in the house, closing the door behind you. She explains that the place was broken into the night before while she was out. When she came home the front door was cracked open but from what the police had told her the entry was not forced. While the place is in shambles, she can't find anything that is missing but she is pretty tired from being up all night dealing with everything and once the police were gone she just couldn't sleep.

@POOHEAD189 Gregory answers the phone and you can tell he ain't happy. "Listen, I just got the radio call that another body from Boston Heights is on its way to the Coroners Office, I am heading down there now. Meet me there." - he tells you before hanging up. By the time you get there Gregory is parking his car and stepping out holding two files tucked under his arm.

@Xtreme & @DizzyIsabella - The Shrink ushers you inside. The TV is off currently in his waiting room and the place is quiet. His secretary is not in today, Saturday and all. Seeing Cam he asks him to take a seat and wants to have a little talk with Lyndsay before they start. Offering Cam a seat before heading into his office with Lyndsay. Once inside and the door closed, he mentions he saw on the news about the girl the night before and asks for any details Lyndsay can offer him about how Cam reacted in her eyes about the entire thing. He is wanting to get a feel of things before he starts his sit down with Cam.

@Charnobylisk - Inside the file as you open it you see the following - Accessing the Wentworth Cybercure Network....Opening File #SGJFE-1432 "Black Sunday - August 12th 1983" The assault began at approximately 12:05pm when the first shot was heard. The first confirmed victim was Reverend Alistair James followed by numerous other church patrons. The doors were locked from the inside with no way out for anyone. The shooter (Russell Avery) took cover as three other patrons (Doris Beckford, Jane Thomas, Sandra Buck) returned fire. Each were killed in quick succession. A final victim was claimed, this one much more personal it seems as the woman (Juno) had her throat slit. The shooter succumbed to his wounds a short while later in hospital. The only recorded survivor of the massacre is one Valerie Pye whom survived with a gunshot wound to her shoulder. Recent rumours have begun to circulate of a second survivor, then a child of the choir. Will look into further"

Risa Couri

Location: Apartment 1B

Risa groaned slightly as she leaned her head back and pushed her hair out of her face. That was not exactly the way she wanted to enter the apartment. She had been hoping to let Lucas sleep while she got breakfast together but as she heard his voice she knew that was over and done with. Sitting up slowly she looked around, their roommate must have been gone. That or he was one hell of a heavy sleeper to not wake up because of the ruckus Risa had caused.

"No, I'm dead, better call your back up girlfriend," she yelled down the hall as she stood up and went over to the door. Snatching her keys out of the lock and shutting it before shoving them in her purse. Shaking her head she grabbed the groceries she had bought and began to get breakfast ready.

Turning on the small TV she found the news station and listened while she started to lay out the food and get the coffee together. She wanted to see what the weather would be like so she would know if she needed to grab an umbrella or not. Her daily habit back in Geneva and when touring with officials; that hair of hers was not happy when it got rained on.

"Breaking News," was said by the news anchor and Risa glanced over at the television. "This just in, apparently the man found dead from drowning in the McKenna Park fountain was a resident of the Boston Heights Apartments. As you remember last night we reported live from the scene as a young woman by the name Danica Graves committed suicide by jumping off the building at the neighborhoods block party. That makes the third Suicide from the Boston Heights Area. Is the rent really that bad?"

Risa froze as they went back to the regular morning news. "Lucas..." she said as she finally regained herself and picked up a plate and a cup of coffee, carrying it back to the bed room and setting it down on the night stand next to the bed. "Well we picked an interesting place to live. Seems someone else killed themselves last night."

Alicia Gonzalez

Location:Apartment 2D

"Ain't for the taste that's for sure but it is better than that energy drink bullshit. Can't stand all the sugar in the other stuff," Alicia said as she stood up and set her breakfast plate in the sink before she started to gather up the paperwork she had been looking at before retrieving her weapon from under the side table and sliding it into its holster at her side.

"Five others will be meeting us there in a few hours. It will just be you and I to start. I'll start on the new security interface. Will need you to do a perimeter check and find any places that the former staff overlooked. They want this facility locked down tight," she added as she grabbed her keys and headed out the door.

Heading over to her car she climbed in and tossed the paper work into the back seat before fastening her seat belt and sliding her sunglasses into place. "Come on cookie, let's get a move on," she said as she started up the classic and rolled down the driver side window. Resting her elbow on the sill she waited for Lorna to climb on in and get situated before heading off towards their new clients facility. She knew it was going to be a long day but she looked forward to it. That was, when her dad was not looking over her shoulder. The man was great at his work but these start ups with all the paper work and such seemed to drive him nuts. He was not a desk person.

Dj Lawson

Location:Apartment 3D --> The Docks

Lawson climbed out of bed and yawned deeply as he stretched his arms over his head. It was time to get to work and it wasn't long before the former Marine had done the mandatory three S's that men do when they have to get up and go to work in the morning. Grabbing his keys and settling his Stetson on his head he grinned to himself as he walked out the door and locked his apartment up.

He spotted Alicia and Lorna as he came out and gave them a little wave. "Mornin' Ladies," he said as he tipped his hat and walked over to Lorna. "Hey, heard about this roller derby thing tonight, was wondering if you wanted to join me and grab a beer. We didn't really get a chance to talk yesterday." He was grinning slightly and gave a shrug. While he waited for her answer his phone went off and he looked down, cursing under his breath.

"Shit, gotta run. Hey, call me later if you want to go," he said handing over his card before jumping into his truck and driving off before giving her a real chance to answer. Sighing he drove over to the rental place and returned the smoker before heading down to the docks. At one of the old warehouses he parked, giving a slight nod to a man suited up as the door was opened for him. The place was rundown it seemed, numerous cases and crates lined out on the floor and on various shelving units.

"Sorry I'm late boss, was trying to score a date with a tasty little piece of southern ass," he said in a cold voice with a cruel smirk coming across his lips.

Cecily Ashworth

Location: Wallace's Office and Other Areas of the Building

Finishing dealing with Danica's case uploads, Cecily sat back in her chair, and took a few calming breaths. Back at Carnegie Mellon, during their orientation session, they had taught all of the students relaxation techniques. It was called purposeful procrastination. Cecily quickly deduced, however, it was to save the university money by having less students need to see a counselor for anxiety issues.

In a brief minute, she found herself centered, and she stepped away from her work. It was her nature to assume the absolute worst case scenario, hence why she didn't chase after the woman. It also explained why she sent the recorded testimony to both Gregory and Riley: she assumed that someone would come back to finish the job. In Cecily's mind, another shooter could turn up at any moment, and this time, perhaps the bullet wouldn't miss.

"We need to canvas the area and look for other witnesses," Cecily instructed herself. Hardly anyone turned up to work on Saturdays, as with the insane work hours, people tended to not come in if they didn't have to. Wallace was no exception to that rule. She searched the building, her hands shaking mildly from the altercation.

At the end of the hallway, she found the janitor.

"Did you see a blonde woman run off with a gun?" Cecily asked.

The janitor stared at her as if she were crazy. "Girl, the only blonde women I see in this joint are the stiffs. And yourself."

Cecily nodded, her shoulders slumping a bit, as she moved on. Eventually, she found a few of the newer members of the forensics team, fresh college graduates. They had a more predictable reaction when she questioned them--they began to scream, instantly pulling for their phones to text their mothers.

"Secure the crime scene," Cecily ordered, mentally going through the same motions that she would on any other job. However, her voice cracked from time to time, and her hands continued to shake. Being shot at wasn't something that happened to forensic techs--they were isolated from the messiness of crime. They were brought evidence and analyzed it, never truly risking their lives. If crime was a chemical reaction, they were the spectator ions: present, but never actually involved.

Her phone buzzed, as the terrified junior members sealed off Walace's office, and frantically began trying to call him. One of them even suggested checking his snapchat, to figure out where he was based off of his story.

Cecily simply stared at them, hoping desperately that they were joking.

"You keep trying to call him, I've got to take this," Cecily replied, walking out of sight of the younger members. Her hands shook as she slid her finger right across the screen, accepting the call. It was from Riley. Before she did so, however, she noticed that she had one unread voicemail.

"Hello?" Cecily answered, attempting to sound fine, but her voice betrayed her once more.

"Cecily! I just got your text, is everything alright?"

Cecily paused for a moment, pondering how to respond to that question. "Yeah, I'm fine. Listen, I'll call you back later," Cecily apologized, glancing as a body was brought in for processing. "I've got to deal with a corpse."

She hanged up before Riley could say much, and walked over to the paramedics. All corpses looked the same at first, as no matter the wealth or status, they were brought in with the same body bags. In a way, it was the only time anyone could truly be equal. Without any sort of ceremony, the paramedics dropped the file on top, as well as the relevant evidence.

"Seems your neighborhood is popular."

"I'm sorry?" Cecily asked, picking up the file. She opened it up, only to be greeted with the face of Lyle Marlestone. She hardly knew the bloke, but she had seen him around the court house, on the few occasions she was required to give expert testimony on the forensics used in the investigation. She glanced up at the paramedics, before down at the file once more.

"I work forensics, I'm not a medical examiner or a coroner," Cecily explained awkwardly. "But...Yeah, I'll go put these things away."

She signed off on the chain of custody forms, and took the papers with her. Delicately pulling on the gurney, she brought Lyle's body to storage, sliding him inside a vacant slot. She marked it with his name, and glanced around, before sealing the area shut. Next, she went to the evidence locker, and filled the rest of the evidence away. All of this she did with her mind spinning faster and faster, and her earlier fear returning to her, despite never truly leaving.

Someone was picking off, one by one, the residents of Boston Heights. It was too odd to be suicides. She pulled the card from the terrifying Mexican out of her pocket, turning it over as she thought. She pulled out her phone, ready to dial the number, before remembering the voicemail.

"Miss Ashworth, this is Caesar. Por favor come and meet with me when you receive this. Need your help with something. You know where I'll be."

Cecily gulped. Maybe Caesar had been the one to put the hit on her, and the invitation was all a trick in order for her to be finished off. It'd be the perfect coverup, a security company. But...It wouldn't make sense, then, for them to prevent the media from trashing the crime scene. Murderers didn't try to preserve evidence. Cecily relaxed a bit. As soon as Gregory showed up and investigated the break-in, she'd find a way to slip off, and visit Caesar.

She figured she could always claim to be shaken up after the attack--and it wasn't a lie, either.
