Welcome to Olympus Academy!

Olympus Academy is home to the most prestigious of demigods from around the world. It is located in the heart of Greece and is surrounded by a powerful border of magic. Olympus Academy offers only the finest of education to their students, with courses ranging from complex analysis to quantum physics. But more importantly, the academy provides extensive training in various elementals, abilities, and magic. Despite all this, the students do manage to find time for extracurricular activities, such as archery, gardening, and yes..sports.

Lately, things haven't been as peaceful as they used to be at the academy. First, there were the rumors about a brewing war spreading around the campus like wildfire. As if that wasn't enough to worry about, the Greek gods themselves began to argue with one another, some power hungry while others felt as if they deserved the throne that Zeus sits upon. Recently, the students have taken it upon themselves to prepare for what is to come. As if battling monsters and evil creatures weren't enough, now there are other factions taking interest in their demise.

Will the Greek gods come to their senses in time to help these young heroes, or will they have to fight what could be one of the biggest and most disastrous wars in the world, alone? Only time will tell.

First, and foremost, sorry about that crappy intro but I am having some serious writer's block right now! Just to be clear, the academy is located in Athens, Greece and the year is going to be 2075. This roleplay is going to be based on students that are between the ages of fifteen to nineteen. It's going to have a modern setting, but all gods, monsters, and creatures will be based on historical ones in Greek literature and what not.

Now, a few rules:
1. No god-modding. Fights between characters are cool but no god-modding please. Let's all be respectful here.
2. No overpowered characters. I get that your characters will have some super awesome abilities and powers, but they are part human, so please be mindful of that.
3. Mature themes need to fade to black or go to the PMs. Honestly, I know that this isn't really a "slice of life" type of roleplay, but it does have some of those "slice of life" elements to it. Romance is cool. Drama is to be expected. But if things somehow get heated between two characters, erm, you know what to do.
4. Due to how popular certain gods and goddesses may be, there is going to be a limit of three children per god/goddess. No ifs, ands, or buts :P

Abilities: Lucas is a preconscious young man, excelling in academics and arts alike. As for godly abilities, his main powers lie in his prowess with a bow and, pertaining from his father being a god of truth, he's very analytical and can notice minor giveaways when somebody's lying.
Personality: Lucas is smart as a whip and beyond creative, often with ideas for writing, poetry and art spilling out of his head. He's confident yet humble, charismatic and makes friend quite easily. When getting in fights, he can indeed handle himself but can usually use his linguistic skills to escape any problematic situation.
Short Bio: Lucas is the son of Apollo and his Italian mother, born and raised in Newark. His work in school and his artistic abilities were noticed at a young age, as he won various poetry competitions at a young age and finished his first novel at age 15. While a relatively normal teen, he never thought much about his abilities. In fact, it wasn't until he was sixteen when Hermes himself recruited him for the school due to his gifts. Since then, he's been living on campus, practising new hobbies and honing his skills.

Abilities:
Harlow has unusual strength for her size and stature. She can literally build anything out of any material. Her immunity to fire and heat was passed down to her from her father, along with the ability to control it as well. When she really focuses, she can even conjure up fire, but only for a short amount of time as doing such a feat drains her physically. She also has the ability to control modern and ancient technology.

Personality:
Harlow is an outspoken young woman who bites her tongue for no one. She has a bit of a temper but has been trying to work on that since attending the academy. She is extremely crafty and loves hands on activities. She can be pretty sarcastic at times, which some could interpret as being rude. She is sociable and has no problem speaking to strangers. She is loyal to those that she loves and can be a bit overprotective of them at times.

Abilities:
Layla has the ability to heal others and is skilled in the art of medicine. She also has the ability to restore the dead back to life, like her father, although this specific ability hasn't been mastered just yet. She can do small, rather simple things, such as plants and tiny animals.

Personality:
Layla is shy, quiet, and extremely reserved. She is often found with her nose in a book or in the laboratory working on an experiment of some sort. She is a very compassionate girl who finds value in anyone and anything. She is soft spoken and struggles with social interaction. While she has a gentle and kind spirit, she certainly isn't naive and can hold quite the grudge. Her biggest grudge of all? Zeus.

Abilities: He is learning some form of necromancy. He can't actually summon the dead, but he can talk to them if he concentrates really hard. He can also sense when someone near him may die. He is proficient at fight with a bident, his fathers signiature weapon, but he prefers the spiked stave he found abandoned on campus.
Personality: Hudson is very solitary, constantly seeking to be alone. He has an unceasing lust to know more about the darker side of life, about the dead and ghosts and those traveling freaks you see in gypsy caravans. Having spent his life mostly alone he is rather inexperienced socially and rough-around-the-edges. However, he craves some sort of connection, and if he think he shares a connection with someone he is extremely loyal to them.
Short Bio: Hudson was raised in Queens by a rather upper-class mother. Hudson found he did not fit in with her crowd. He was brooding, talked like a mobster stereotype from the 1940s, and was extremely uncouth. However, at the age of 14, he was somehow able to predict that his grandfather was going to have a heart attack and die a couple of weeks after his prediction. He was somehow right. He had a peculiarly extensive knowledge of the occult and an appreciation for it. When he turned 15, Hermes recruited him due to his abilities. He lives on campus now, still pretty chuffed that his father is the King of the Underworld. Hades.

Short Bio: Eira was born in the middle of summer, in the small town of Keshbridge Connecticut. Her mother's name was Gloria. As a divorced mother of three, Gloria was surprised to find herself pregnant. Mainly because ever since her nasty divorce three years prior, she hadn't slept with anyone. Turns out the extraordinarily vivid dream of being whisked up by a freezing wind, and greeted by strange man had been real. Though Gloria would never admit it, as thoughts of being sent to the loony bin, and having her kids taken away, kept her strange encounter to herself.

So Eira's early life was spent growing up in a completely average family, in a small boring town with only a bowling alley and old movie theater for entertainment. Other then the whole fatherless thing, Eira was your normal middle class american kid, growing up in a single parent household. Her half siblings Adam, Brittany, and Willard were all practically a decade older then her, and spent every other week at their biological father's house, so the closeness that most siblings had was lost to her. She and her mother where never extremely close either. Even though Eira loved her mom, she did resent her for never being home, always working, and not being able to tell her anything about her dad. For most of her life the story was that Eira was the product of a one night stand between her mother and a man. All the info she could ever gather from her mother was that his name was Boris, and Eira had the exact same curls, and icey blue eyes he did.

She learned from a very early age that no one else could do what she could, and that being able to freeze water, and make it snow indoors was abnormal. Eira quickly learned to ignore and pretend she couldn't control the cold, and ice at will. By the time she was eight, all of her siblings where in college or getting married. Her mother finally remarried, to a nice man named Daniel Harris, and they moved to Seattle as a family. Weekends where spent at her grandmother farm, riding horses, learning to play the piano, and spending hours reading in by the pond in the garden. She made friends, got good grade, and started taking figure skating lessons. In her own opinion, her life had become practically perfect in every way.

Unfortunately good things always come to an end, and her mother was diagnosed with leukemia when Eira was twelve. Eira and her step dad were Gloria's caretaker for the next two years until she died. Since her step dad had never officially adopted her, the state placed her in short term foster care until they could find a legal family member to take her in. Two weeks later she went to live with her older brother Adam in Boston. 28 year old Adam, his wife, and newborn son, was a very different life then the one she had been leading. Six months in, she runaway to the bus station, and used all of her birthday money she had been saving for the last three years to buy a ticket to Seattle. She made it as far as Cincinnati before the police brought her back to her brother's home in Boston. With her Aunt's prodding, Adam sent Eira to boarding school in upstate New York. And thus Eira entered a new world of school drama, pop culture, gossip, college prep courses, and living without any family.

High school was hell, as adjusting to an all girl boarding school full of rules, bullying, and schedules was not Eira's cup of tea. She excelled in the actual schooling part, taking mainly AP classes. But socially she had no idea what she was doing, or even where to start. The school was made up of mainly snobbish brats, spoiled rich girls, and genius IQ scholarship student from overseas. For the next two years she spent the summers with her grandmother in Washington, but the old lady had developed dementia, and her Aunt put her in home. Depression, got the best of Eira, and her grades suffered, as she started hanging out with the wrong crowed. She just turned was seventeen when the Greek goddess Khione aka her half sister via her father, came out of nowhere and told her the whole truth, gave her a hug, and sent her to the academy.

I mainly want to add the defects because I feel like it, I've been on this site awhile and as I've seen most people pick "pretty people" as their face claims. I'm not going to rant about it too much but let's just say I'm a little tired of pretty, besides the Greek Gods were about as flawed as the rest of us and I like the idea of something as powerful as a god having something out of their control... like being born with a club foot.

Plus the point of character is for them to prove to everyone that they aren't something that needs to be coddled or kept safe and secure. They are strong, they know this with all their heart, but everyone's first impression is "Oh, they need a healthy dose of pity," and they absolutely hate it. They are going to prove to everyone that they are strong enough to stand by their own will, not leaning on the shoulders of others for all eternity.

Pheonix possess the uncanny ability to perform much better against people who've hurt her. It's clearly more than a psychological thing, and her lack of any other supernatural abilities confirms this. There's no one thing that defines it, it's simply that when Pheonix is pissed, she thinks faster and fights harder. Unsurprisingly, people don't mess with her very often.
Being a demigod, it was necessary for Pheonix to learn to fight. When dealing with monsters, Pheonix is capable enough with her two daggers, but her real strength lies in unarmed combat. The kind of unarmed combat that's about sneaky jabs and boots to guts, though. There is not much finesse in how she fights, and there's definitely no honour, but it works, and she's good at it, so that's what she does.
Personality
Pheonix isn't totally introverted, but she generally keeps to herself. She prefers to dress in black, often wearing boots and leather jackets, but has her hair dyed bright red. Thanks largely to her mother, despite usually keeping out of other people's business, she has a very short temper, and will use her reputation to get people to back down at first, but will quickly move on to physical violence. She likes alternative rock music and reads a lot, her favourite books being the Shadowhunters ones by Cassandra Clare.
Short bio
Pheonix was born in Paris, to the godess Nemesis and a man named Pierre Lafontaine. Nemesis, at the time, was posing as a young Greek woman who had emmigrated to Paris to attend university and decided to stay afterwards. Pierre, however, was unfaithful a few years after Pheonix's birth, and Nemesis ended up killing both him and the other woman (deities of vengeance tend to be pretty harsh that way). Pheonix's lack of a father made things difficult for Nemesis, and she soon decided to bring Pheonix to the Academy. Because of this, Pheonix has been there almost her entire life, and doesn't remember what it was like outside.
