My younger sibling clearly doesn't understand that. She tried to keep it as a pet as I tried to get rid of it. God knows where the mouse had been. It was already once in the toilet, so who knows what it had.

I saw a few videos on that. House pets eventually find a way to leave the house only to be prey to wild canines (which are mostly big dogs praying on smaller animals) until they're all killed off or play it smart. Nuclear reactors and the like will keep producing power, until, for instance in the case of a nuclear reactor, the coolant water evaporates. Then there is a big boom because the reactor explodes since no coolant water. Everything else deteriorates, some disappearing pretty fast (like wood) but stuff like plastic takes a super long time.

It's helping me to think of a few things such as what stage of deterioration most untended buildings might be, but the thing that really interested me was the Long Horns and it reminded me of how rugged that breed is. I imagine topping a hill and seeing on the plain before you a cattle herd 8 perhaps 12, 000 strong; a cow matures in 2 years and could reproduce itself every 3 years. Low predator population and cooperative defense a 1,000 head could bloom into quite a force.

Yeah I saw that as well. The longest confirmed kill with a modern sniper rifle is around 2.2 miles (3,540 meters). When you check records (Wikipedia for example) most shots over a mile are made with modern (post WWII) sniper rifles. And from what information I've been able to find snipers are trained to be accurate up to 1000 yards (914 meters). I figured that would be about the same for the marksmen. Which puts the town a little outside that range. Not saying Billy or Vickie couldn't make the shot, just that it may not be the most comfortable in foreign territory.

The hill offers better range on the town I think. Plus offers multiple escape routes. Though it doesn't offer much to cover Jain's approach.

Then I had to deal with the huge rant that I don't do anything (this is being said while I do dishes, laundry and making kool-aid for them) in this house but now I'm finally free to work on a post.

Actually, 2 of the 4 high quality rifles Lasthope has is with the expedition. Billy has one Vickie the other. They're the lee-enfield rifles. Lasthope doesn't have any of the more current sniper rifles.

At least that's the information Rumi provided in discussions about the marksmen. I may have misunderstood some, but the gist was the above.

Also just to put this out there

I know it's been 14 years but I live in Oregon, at our family's house there are 12 shotguns, 14 rifles 2 semi-auto 3 lever action and two pump action the rest are bolt action rifles. 8 pistols half autoloaders half revolvers three compound bows 2 PVC longbows... and from the people living around us we are kind of average in the number of firearms we have.

So I guess it's understandable that we have a few firearms lol
