[OOC] Pursuit of Power

In the year 2030 the world had fallen to a storm, killing nearly the entire population. Those who had money survived in seclusion, bringing only their strongest with them. The entirety of the world was ash, a global fire destroying anything that was alive, leaving a barren desert behind. Four races surviving the disaster. Exodus, Earthica, Primfira, and Luthra. The handful of people that survived in each race would go on to continue their bloodlines, doing whatever they could to survive the Dark Years after the world had fallen to rubble. Years would pass before real reconstruction would begin. The races did what they could to stay alive, raising warriors to keep them safe, birthing children to become farmers, medics, teachers, and anything that was deemed a necessity to thrive.
The once technologically advanced world has fallen so far back it resembles that of 297 AC. As years progress, kingdoms are built. The world stays rather barren, a few dense forests appearing here and there, water sources sparse.

The year is now 2070, the only surviving kingdoms have now established homes for their people. These kingdoms spread out on the only live section of the earth. Exodus, the wealthiest kingdom, managed to thrive the most due to good money tactics. Primfira, the second wealthiest kingdom, follows in Exodus's footsteps money wise. The last two kingdoms Earthica and Luthra are the poorest of them all. Having poor money management and aggressive behaviors that caused disruption and war within their own kingdoms. While they are calmer now, these two kingdoms are still fairly dangerous, the people blood thirsty and strong.

Whether you are from one of the lesser kingdoms, Primfira or Exodus, that is up to you. You will create your story starting now. Maybe you’re a prince or princess in a poorer kingdom, seeking power. Or even the same but in Exodus or Primfira, desperate to leave and become a warrior, become something new. A King, no longer loyal to his queen or a spy, slithering through the cracks, soaking in the rumors that dance along the Kingdom's streets. You decide.

Word of a princess arising in Exodus blows across the Kindom's, now unfolds the chance for a young man or woman to marry into wealth and royalty. A festival being held in Exodus, inviting all from every Kingdom to come. Warriors will battle, not for death but to entertain and attempt to impress the royals. Archers will show off their skills, poets, builders, and any other skill set will be put on display, a chance to win the spot beside the princess, or maybe find love among the other many royals attending from Primfira and Exodus. Mothers will force their daughters to attend, desperate to obtain wealth. Sons forced to train or pick up a skill to impress. But the more desperate seek out the whispers that claim the King and Queen of Exodus have fallen loveless. Rumors of the queen sleeping with strange men and the king bedding ladies from all kingdoms.

While having a princess is not uncommon or taboo, Exodus has been known for not allowing outsiders to wed their offspring. They have made an exception, in an attempt to bring peace across the Kingdom's.

Primfira, the sister kingdom, is enraged by the attention Exodus is drawing. They will however be expected to attend, but their intentions may not be so sincere.

If you attend the event you are not expected to wed, the festival is merely a chance for a better life, wealth, companion(s), or maybe the perfect place to cause disaster.

Exodus Information

Attire: People in Exodus dress in extremely high class clothing. The clothing of the royals resembling that of what the royals in India would wear. The citizens dress in clothing like the royals but with much less color and intricate designs/jewels.

Race: Freyja is the race that makes up Exodus, the name taken from the first king and queen of Exodus and their bloodline. This race usually has bronzed skin, darker hair, and deep mahogany eyes. The males are usually tall, lean but not intensely muscular. The females can range from tall and slender to smaller and petite. Like Primfira, this race was impacted by the toxins that remained after the fire. The oddities that occur throughout this race consist of oddly colored eyes varying from blue to hazel, two different colored eyes, and broken irises. Some born with a mutation where their tongue doesn't form completely, leaving a split down the middle. This race is considered the serpent of all the kingdoms, the serpentine tongue mutation and broken irises as well as the whispers that claim Freyja's crave and adore the taste of human blood every now and then, less in the way of a vampire and more in the "Just because we can." fashion. Most tend to consume or bathe in blood due to the belief it increases youthfulness in the skin, acquiring the blood from fallen warriors, beheading's, or even from the innocent that were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Known For: Exodus and its people are known for their wealth, beauty, power, and strength in numbers. Their warriors are strong, but are not the best at combat. They are also known for their incredible ability to lie and slither their way out of situations.

Earthica Information

Attire: Earthica's attire consists of duller colors, the clothing is very basic and of mixed variety. There is no real set clothing standard for this kingdom.

Race: Levonian is the race that makes up most of Earthica. This race usually has very pale skin, red or brown hair, and green/blue eyes. The men of this race are bulky, tall, strong men. The woman strong and tall, but still hold a feminine appearance.

Known For: Earthica is known for its strength, the warriors here are some of the best. Most of the woman are also very skilled in archery. Earthica is also known for their incredible ability to garden and farm, using a liquid to feed their crops that they designed themselves.

Primfira Information

Primfira|933 Population|Medium Wealth

Attire: Primfira is the closest in wealth to Exodus, meaning the attire is up to the same standards. Primfira however, dresses in a much different manner. The attire in this kingdom resembles that of the English royalties of the past. The citizens dress much simpler, the wealth mostly seen within the royals while the citizens have a lot less. While they have less money, the citizens still dress in neat clothes, often covered in beautiful designs.

Race: Andorian is the race that occupies most of Primfira. This race usually has blonde to a stunning white or platinum color hair, with snowy skin to match. Their eyes vary in a variety of colors from a burnt honey tone to greens, blues, brown, and even a color close to black. This race it the oddest looking of all of the races, having been the closest population to the fire that ended the world. The toxins within in the fire mutating genetics to get the unique Andorian look. The men of this race are very slender and tall, with little muscle but still lean. The females are also quite tall, the odd few much smaller due to a mutation in their genes.

Known For: Primfira is known for its incredible intelligence and ability to survive the worst circumstances. While it is cruel, they are known as the cockroach of the kingdoms due to their surviving the worst.

Luthra Information

Luthra is the most diverse kingdom of them all, the race having no set skin, hair, or eye color. Their body types varying. The race calls themselves Thanatos, after the Greek god of death. This race is the most dangerous of them all. Their diversity and mixed skills making them powerful, but their lack of wealth and security drawing them back. This kingdom is where the banished tend to go. Killers and assassins seeking sanctuary here. Luthra has no king nor queen, just a man and woman who take the place of what they call Mother and Father.

Additional Information

You do NOT have to stick to the occupation/title you choose. Meaning as a princess, prince, spy, warrior, king or queen, etc. you can choose to abandon your kingdom and attempt to make something else of yourself. Someone cannot blatantly steal a position from you, this takes time and often combat, however you can choose to leave said title on your own. A queen may grow tired of her king, a king may grow tired of his queen. No longer in love and seeking affection and attention elsewhere. A princess may yearn for the life of a Luthra born, wishing she had the freedom and combative skills they did. This is all up to you, there’s ton of room for creativity. The world can shift and change to fit your story, while I have offered a picture and short description of what the world is now like after the fire, you can add in little areas that help your characters story, nothing to drastic or completely altering.

The Earth After The Fire

The world would consist of mostly desert as seen in the picture as well as water, the lighter portions of yellow being sandy dune like territory while the green is where all of the Kingdoms are located. The darker color surrounding the kingdom and spread sporadically across the world would be what they call Black Water. Water that can be sailed, although very dangerous, but is so toxic it has no other use. Most of the old world's ruins are located in the desert-like area's completely submerged in sand. These sandy area's are lethal, sandstorms containing glass like shards ripping through at random. The surviving land where the Kingdom's call home contains dense forest surrounding the entire perimeter, beyond that, forest collides with desert and Black Water. In the surviving land you'll find animals thrive, a shared lake with clean water, all of this somehow missing the worst of the world's fires, able to grow back healthy. However, like some of the races, there are animals whose genetics were altered due to the toxins within and leftover from the fire. Most animals inhabiting the Kingdom's territory are normal in size and appearance, but if you venture into the Desert or Black Water you will find animals that are disfigured and mutated. Some of these animals have found their way into the ever growing forest the Kingdom's use for resources and hunting deer. These mutated animals can be larger, more aggressive, or just appear incredibly different from their former form. Although they were once rare to see, the amount of mutated offspring has increased...

*NOTE*

The map is not completely proportionate, the "Resource" area as well as the surrounding treeline's would be much thicker. If it were zoomed out, there would be desert surrounding the "Black Water" and taking up most of the rest of the world.

The species within the Desert are all but a mystery, this area being too dangerous to venture into.
However, there have been multiple stories thrown around of a large serpent like creature that inhabits tunnels beneath the sand.

Black Water

Similar to the Desert, Black Water is hard to explore. The water, if consumed, is toxic and can even leave incredibly painful rashes on the skin. The water takes a deep, dark, almost black color hence the name. The aquatic life found within it varies from normal to large fish that are un-eatable as well as a well known species of octopus that has nearly quadrupled in size, having taken down numerous ships.

Encounters

The normal animals are encountered regularly, hunted and eaten by the people within the Kingdom's. The mutated animals however, are a much rarer occurrence. However a recent rise in sightings has given enough information of what these animals are like. The Mutant Bears have been encountered once, leaving nearly an entire hunting group dead while the survivors were left scarred wishing they were dead as well. The Mutant Bear species is known to be very large, much larger than an ordinary bear. The bear's face is rotted exposing skull and enormous fangs. It is highly aggressive and will attack without being prompted, one of the surviving men claimed the bear "called out" to him in his brother's voice, pleading and crying for him to help. He stated he searched for his brother and found no trace of him, only the bear emulating his dead brother's distorted plea's of help. It is assumed the bear is able to take on the voice of whatever it has killed, emitting the sound in order to attract more pray. The bears lack of eyes points to it not being able to see, relying on hearing and smell to navigate.

Another mutation that has been encounter only once is a set of deer. One deer appears to be pure white, foliage sprouting from its long, feeble antlers. Always beside the pure looking deer is another deer who is much less innocent in appearance. Vines wrap around the second deer, open flesh riddling its body. It has a face similar to the bear, missing skin and instead exposing its skull. The deer are not dangerous and have not been known to attack. The are hardly ever seen, but the one sighting there was mentioned that the deer follow one another perfectly. Mimicking each movement the other makes like a reflection.

The last mutant sighting was a wolf, there have been numerous sightings of different mutated wolves. The wolves are much larger than normal, fur thin as if it has mange, exposing a bony spine scattered with long quill like spikes over its back and shoulders. The mutant wolves are violent creatures, ravaging anything or anyone they come across.

Mashing many ideas together to create this plot. While I know this plot is quite common in shows, movies, and even RP's, I hope your individuality will make it something unique!

Appearance

Personality: Mel is very much a product of his environment. He is loud and rowdy, and loves nothing more than to carouse and gamble long into the night. He loves to have a good time, and has been known to shirk responsibility in favour of getting drunk and having fun. He also has a bit of a reputation as a womanizer, although Mel himself claims it isn’t well-deserved: “It’s hard not to be seen that way when pretty girls keep throwing themselves at my feet,” he’ll say with a wink.

More recently, Mother has pushed him to be more “stately”; at her direction, he has learned how to mimic some of the traits of nobility, at least enough for folks to take pause; however, Mel hates to act this way, and will quickly revert back to his true personality as soon as he feels it is safe to do so.

History: Mel is the eldest child and only son of Luthra’s Mother, not that that meant much while he was growing up. Sure, he was afforded more luxuries than his less-well-connected friends - food at every meal, swordsmanship training and weapons tailored to his left-handedness - but the kingdom’s lack of wealth and political influence, along with Mother’s “hands-off” parenting style, didn’t allow for the kind of royal treatment a “prince” might expect.

Not that Mel cared much. He got what he needed from Mother, and he got what he wanted from the streets, using what influence he did have to his advantage. Much of his free time was spent fighting and gambling with little supervision; by the time he was a teenager, he was a regular sight in the kingdom’s taverns, playing songs and dancing, brawling and dueling with anyone willing to take him on.

He lost his left eye in one such duel at 17. Partially because of this, partially because he was getting to marriageable age, much of his freedom was taken away; instead, he was trained in how to be a “respectable gentleman”, in the hopes that he could be married into another kingdom’s nobility. Mel didn’t take kindly to this change, and continued to sneak out at night to continue his rough and rowdy ways.

With the news of Exodus’s eligible princess and the festival being thrown for her, Mother tasked Mel to attend in order to strengthen ties with the other kingdoms. A marriage of convenience, she said, is the best outcome; but should this prove to be impossible, Mel was to do anything necessary to improve Luthra’s position and reputation. Should he fail… well, Mel knows better than to go home to Mother empty-handed.

Weapons: Mel’s preferred weapons are Fame, a rapier with an elegant silver hilt, designed to be wielded in his left hand; and Fortune, a trident dagger, designed for his right hand. He also carries a set of nondescript throwing daggers, but only uses them in emergencies… or when he really, really wants to get a cheap shot.

Skills:
Combat: Mel is a skilled fighter. He most often dual-wields Fame and Fortune in a left-handed stance, which gives him advantage against those unused to fighting left-handed opponents; he can also hold is own in a bare-knuckle brawl.

Music: Although he originally picked up the lute to attract the ladies, Mel as since come to love playing the instrument, and will now do it for his own enjoyment. He also likes to sing, although his voice doesn’t sound nearly as beautiful as the lute does.

Scar(s): Mel’s body is littered with little scars from the many, many duels and brawls he’s been a part of. The most obvious would be the scar across where his left eye used to be, although it is always covered by a leather eyepatch.
