Short Biography: Alenia “the Wounded” is a woman with a hard past. Raised by her father after her mother’s passing, Alenia grew up without a strong female figure in her life. Raised alone by her father, the captain of the guard of Baldurs Gate, Alenia was surrounded by voices of authority, strictness, and the brass world of military men. At the age of sixteen, the sheltered, socially awkward Alenia began training in sword play and studying military tactics, disciplinary manuals, and military etiquette. She even saved her coin to pay for an instructor.

Disheartened and infuriated by her fathers’ rejection of her joining the guard, Alenia left Baldurs Gate at age twenty-two and journeyed to Waterdeep. She enlisted in the city watch and five years later resigned, joining a local mercenary company, for whom she worked for yet again five years. Preferring the active and profitable life as a mercenary. However, when her employer was accused of treason against the city and jailed, Alenia resigned, the company whom she served having become corrupt and deplorable. Now, at age thirty-two, Alenia has once again left to start anew. Hearing of the “Ruby City” that is Draydon, she has come seeking a new beginning.

Personality Description: Alenia is what you might call a roguish noble. A woman of conviction and honor, yet not entirely polished and well-meaning all around. At the end of the day she watches out for herself and while she isn’t above having friends or companions, she is hard to impress. Alenia aspires for self-sustainment and purpose, though is not afraid to confront injustice. She is not one to betray or undermine, and is loyal without waver.

Why have you come to Draydon? Alenia seeks purpose and personal fortune alike. Serving for years as both a tight-lipped city guard and a brassy mercenary, Alenia has never felt any sense of purpose or duty, and certainly never has she had a fortune. She hopes to find both in Draydon as a free blade seeking a conviction.

Fighting Style: Favoring her short sword and shield, Alenia fights with an aggressive fire. She pummels her foes with heavy attacks, albeit energy consuming, and takes her time to recover amidst defense. When facing stronger foes, Alenia uses a more tempered approach, attacking more moderately and focusing more on defense, looking for counter attack opportunities. Though trained in archery and dual weapon wielding as well, she always prefers a sword and a shield.

Appearance: A being slightly below average for her race of pseudo-giants, Vah’lux stands at seven-foot-one, with defined muscles, grayish skin tone, and emerald eyes. Her dark, walnut hair is about as disheveled as one would imagine from her kind, cut uneven in some areas, and the longest part tied together in a thick ponytail. While she may be in her mid-twenties, years of harsh weather, blows to the face, scars that never healed properly, and other factors have made her seem older and quite "rough" in appearance. A series of articulate tattoos of spirit animals, mythos, and symbolic imagery of her people partially cover her arms and back, depicting exploits of her own within the fighting arenas and leaving room for future stories told in ink.

Her armor consists of reinforced leathers and hides, keeping things light and flexible as much as possible. While she can naturally shrug off certain damage, her armor can still be a matter of life or death and something she doesn’t overlook. When not in combat situations, she generally wears stitched hides to cover most of her upper and lower body, and thick boots wrapped in leathers.

Personality Description: Dominant, even-tempered, mentally tough, and competitive, Vah’lux gleans with a genuine confidence that very few seem to have in this current age. Whereas her demeanor may come off as arrogant, it couldn't be further from the truth. Her rough exterior is balanced by a charismatic approach to others and generally friendly disposition, as even when things may seem dark, she manages to lift the mood of the people she encounters.

Short Biography: Found by a small band of travelers and merchants, as a larger-than-normal girl of no more than four years of age, dressed in animal skins and rags, and nestled within a cave atop the Dragonspine Mountains, the child survived countless lonely nights. Through some blessing of an ancestral god she never knew, she was spared by the ravage disease which claimed the lives of both parents weeks earlier, leaving her to use what little survival training she learned at such an early age.

The Goliath child was given to the human and half-elf barbarian tribes situated in the plains of Northern Faerun, and raised as one of their own, while at the same time, seen with much suspicion and contempt by many who didn’t understand her race. Regardless, she lived among them, learning not just about her new family, but that of her people as well. Training as a hunter, gatherer, and warrior, utilizing her athletic abilities to do extraordinary things.

As the years passed, and adolescence took hold of the young woman’s life, her physique also scaled immensely, giving way to more height as well as muscle mass, and opening opportunities that she never knew existed. It was her eighteenth year of age that the invitation to participate in gladiatorial games throughout Faerun was extended, which would pull her from the comfort of the Northern territories, and into a broader adventure.

But it wasn’t the thought of fighting for glory or gold, but for the respect of her adopted family, as well as many other Goliath she’d encountered along her path. Eventually, Vah'lux called the gladiatorial arenas "home" for two years, learning, training, and charming crowds of spectators as they came to watch the weekly events, guaranteed to be filled with enough dramatic bloodshed and entertainment to bring more people and therefore, more income. The Goliath, skeptical at first, began to sink comfortably into a new chapter in her life, as the title of “Gladiator” had been branded on her from the moment she stepped foot into the fighting pits scattered throughout the land.

Why have you come to Draydon?: The underground fighting scene, while not wholly legal, is still one of the most sought after competitions in all of Faerun. It was in Draydon that she hoped to secure honor and fight in the name of her people and tribe. The wealth, while not a priority, would also help her people to rebuild communities lost to wars over the centuries. Help to reclaim lands that were once theirs. She doesn’t fight for herself, but for her heritage.

Character Fighting Style: Specialized in two-handed polearms, she uses a mixture of both offensive and defensive techniques. Quick and powerful attacks with the preferred weapon of choice, a Glaive, which could be used to trip an opponent as well. As a Barbarian, large bursts of power were ideal but at the cost of being winded quicker. In that case, Vah’lux would switch to a defense position in order to recover.

Also has trained in mounted combat (heavy horse) with polearms and broadswords

Short Biography:
Born on a ship he lived a sailors life traveling harbour to harbour and growing up with entertainers, acrobats and traders. He learnt all the things that the people loved and cheered for. How to sell, how to tell a story, how to move and how to entertain. He also learnt all the skills that the crowds did not see. The picking of pockets, the duping and conning of rich men. The scams, ploys and traps that came and went like the rising of the moon with none but a few wise to the riches now gone.

Growing to big for his troupe, Aesthen sought the new opportunities of an old home. Things were different now, he was different now. Tired of always traveling, maybe this could be his future.

Personality Description: There are many tales of brave carefree rogues throwing themselves into danger and trouble with reckless abandonment, only scraping through vast unforeseen misfortunes by the skin on their teeth. Overwhelming courage, charisma and luck pulling them through the ordeal to reward them handsomely for their brainless blunder.
Aesthen is not one of those rogues. For every one of those success stories there are numerous others of failure that go unheard and untold. Simply because living foolishly relies on luck, and fate does not favour the foolish.

No, to live and survive as a Rogue one had to be smart, cautions and calculating. Aesthen was all of these. Even his charming demeanour was one of calculated precision. A patient man with a curious eye for detail. He has little ill will towards others but just a simple self serving focus on himself. He loves his trinkets and and can spend hours reading or tinkering. He is meticulous and thorough in all that he does.
Despite being a thief he still holds a good heart and a small streak of moral values, this can be difficult to uphold though as he often lacks true empathy beyond that of his constant charade.

Why have you come to Draydon? For Aesthen this is not only a journey for opportunity and prosperity, the likes of which can only be found in a town such as Draydon, but it’s also a long overdue trip home. He seeks to cement himself in the foundations of the growing ‘new’ thieves guild.

Character Fighting Style:
Life has not been ‘fair’ to Aesthen and he holds no qualms in forwarding that same fate onto his opponents. Liveliness is more important than fairness and Aesthen wants to live. There are few things he can imagine worse than the bleak darkness of non existence with its lack of opportunity, chances and future.
To avoid such a fate he will do whatever necessary to tip the scales of favour onto his side and has no hesitation in fleeing should he feel it necessary. Let the dead have their honour.

Aesthen likes to plan everything ahead of time and be in control of almost all situations. Traps, trickery and deception are his favourite tools to avoid physical confrontation before it even begins.

If things must go another way he will attack mid range with throwing daggers or the likes, from a vantage point where he can over look his options. Always opting to ambush from the shadows with quick hard unexpected strikes if he can. In melee, movement is his friend and while dancing around with skill and grace, feigning and misdirecting, he will utilisie his knowledge of anatomy and take advantage of his opponents momentum and physiology.

Considering all physical engagements equally a test of wits, Aesthen simulates it in his mind many times over before it ever begins.

Breakers Adamantin Shears.

Shears are used to quickly cut through items by snipping them between two sharp blades. Small shears can be used in one hand. Lopping shears are 3 feet long and must be used in two hands; they are commonly used by farmers or gardeners to cut hedges and branches.
Adamantine shears are lopping shears with sharpened adamantine blades that can snip through nearly any material.
You can use adamantine shears to cut through bars, chains, grates, or similar items. On any item the adamantine shears can fit around (such as a chain or iron bar, but not an iron door), using adamantine shears provides a bonus on your Strength to break or burst it.

Aesthen’s custom made and purpose designed shears appear and function as two seperate individual daggers. With near straight blades, little to no guard and slightly long hilts. They are sharp, precise and deadly giving no clue to their alternate purpose.

The tools and bits required to join the blades and make the shears whole are hidden within the hollow pommels, while the scabbards hold a secret compartment containing a vial of phosphorescent gel and a dose of rusting powder.

The getaway Buckler

This deceptive small forearm mounted shield does not look intricate at all. Appearing as a simple, solid and sturdy piece of basic shaped metal.
Secretly it possesses 2x tightly sprung grappling bolts underneath attached to a length of coiled silk, just waiting to be fired off in the direction of the hand.
In the centre is a concealed spring loaded punch dagger, ready to turn this defensive weapon into an offensive one at a moments notice.

Hidden compartments hold a single use smoke bomb and supply of caltrops just waiting to be quickly deployed with a simple motion.
It’s final feature is due to its shape and unique materials inside. When placed and sealed against a flat surface it is highly susceptible to vibrations, and with the aid of a hearing horn placed upon it a near tremor sense ability is gained. Although no voices can be heard, careful manipulation and familiarity with the device will allow the user to discern the direction of the oncomer.

Tinkerers goggles

This expertly crafted steampunk contraption has several small arms that hold magnifying lenses near the wearer’s face. They’re kept in place by locking hinges and crude gyroscopes that compensate for normal head movements. While the lenses are properly aligned, the wearer gains a circumstance bonus when working on items that are small or highly detailed and when inspecting something within 5 feet. However, the arms can easily become misaligned if the wearer is not careful. If the arms are misaligned, they lose their usefulness until readjusted

This version is specifically designed and fitted to Aesthen and is a lot more compact and sturdy than most others. It also comes with a telescopic seeing glass that can be removed, altered and used as a hearing horn. There is even a tube in the goggle strap that connects from the horn to the ear so that when run beneath a hooded cloak, one can be a far more discreet and inconspicuous than simply placing his head against the door.

Chain belt of restraining

Barbed Quickcatch manacles (Disguised as a belt)
This light yet sturdy tightly woven chain sits around the wearers waist and is quickly released to become an improvised chain weapon that also doubles as manacles.

These masterwork manacles are designed to swiftly secure a restrained creature. The price includes a quick-release mechanism that, when attached to a belt or pack, allows you to retrieve the quickcatch manacles with one hand as a swift action.
Quickcatch manacles include a good lock that locks automatically when the manacles are applied.
Manacle Barbs
Barbs added to these manacles wound a captive who does more than move slowly and with care. Rough movement of any kind, such as being struck in combat or falling prone, likewise causes damage. Attempting to break out of barbed manacles with strength also deals damage to the captive regardless of the success of the attempt.

All purpose Boots

These tall sturdy tightly laced leather boots have specialised padded soles that not only softens the wearers steps but makes him quieter and harder to track.
Left boot also has a small concealed spring loaded blade.
The Right boot has a hollow heel for concealing small items like his blank key wax.
The toes have small thin sturdy claws beneath the leather that are only exposed when pressed forth. Useful for climbing.

A small spool of fishing wire is intricately woven through each of the laces.

Rings

Thieves’ Ring
This slightly over-sized ring conceals a few lockpicks and other tools coiled inside its band. These discreet tools, made of a metal alloy that springs straight once the tool is removed from the band, are sufficient to attempt Disable Device checks without penalty, and long enough to pick locks on manacles fastened around the wearer’s hands (once he slips off the ring).

Pin Ring
This simple weapon is a ring with a flip-up lid, below which is a needle capable of delivering a dose of poison (or knock-out drug, etc.)

Poisoner's Ring (Signet ring)
A poisoner's ring outwardly appears as a common piece of jewelry, but is capable of delivering a dose of poison. A hollowed out feature on the ring (perhaps a jewel, or signet face), results in a cavity that holds a dose of poison; by means of a painstakingly crafted hinge, the wearer could use specific hand motions to access the space within.
With practice, the wearer could deposit the the fatal cargo into a cut or bowl with little chance of being noticed.

Razor ring
This simple ring can be manipulated to produce a thin small razor along its edge, useful for cutting purses or hacking at ropes.

Masterwork Backpack.

This deceptively normal appearing backpack is laden with many hidden pouches. It is currently holding the standard bedroll, some chalk, a flint and steel, a grappling hook, an iron pot, a mirror, pitons (10), rope, soap, torches (2), trail rations (5 days), and a waterskin. It is also hiding some more thieves tools with extenders, a drill and has 2 quick release pouches of caltrops.

Leather armour & Performers Adventuring Cloak

This fine leather armour is pretty standard and well maintained. It has many straps and places to hold and conceal blades.
The fine thick cloak, as well as protecting him from harsh conditions, has a dark inlay that when turned inside out helps conceal the wearer at night. Weights it the hem help it flourish and be twirled around. As with all great things it also has hidden pockets.
Amongst this attire Aesthen hides a wrist sheath, Marked cards and concealed thieves’ tools.

Scroll case

This is a standard, albeit sturdy, double ended scroll case. One long end holds all the papers and while the other a more cushioned smaller chamber contains the ink. A thin pocket along the side houses an ink pen. It is completely waterproof and air tight.
Contents:
Ink (1 vial), an inkpen, paper (10 sheets) sealing wax.

Appearance
Renault Beaumont is a man drastically changed over the course of seven years. In his youth he looked the part of a knight in shining armor: tall, broad-shouldered, blue-eyed, and golden-haired with an air of noble grace. But now, excommunication has marked him. His hair, darkened with age, is shaggy and disheveled, complemented by a scraggly beard already starting to gray. His eyes have grown lifeless and tired, with fresh wrinkles starting to form on his face, signifying his age.

His armor, once gilded plate and white cloak, has been replaced by a worn leather brigandine and undershirt, with matching rough-hewn boots, gauntlets, and traveling cloak.

Personality Description:
A man shaped by his experiences, most of them negative, Renault is, in a word: lost. Troubled, uncertain, and penitent, who he is today is a far cry from the devout, self-assured, honorable man he was before. Embodying nearly all the virtues one could think of for a crusader of justice, Renault's banishment from The Knights of the Merciful Sword was seen as a great loss.

Thrown into the streets of Draydon with naught to his name, Renault's grief gave way to cynicism and melancholy, leaving him a shell of his former self. Plagued almost constantly by feelings of unworthiness and self-doubt, Renault has all but forsaken his former identity, refusing to cast spells or perform miracles in Tyr's name, believing himself spurned by his former patron.

Yet despite his weariness, the core of Renault's personality is still there, not lost, but buried. Beneath himself is a man of strong faith and pure heart, not forgetting the Oath he swore to the people of Draydon, though long have they forgotten him.

Short Biography:
Born to the noble House Beaumont, Renault was groomed for knighthood as far back as he can remember. His childhood stories were tales of valiant knights and noble heroes astride horseback, leaving the impressionable youth awestruck and determined to one day be a knight himself. As soon as he turned seven, Renault was given the title of page and sent to one of the castles in Draydon under the patronage of Lord Alistair, a former knight granted a noble title for exemplary military service. It was here where the brunt of Renault's training and education came from. He learned how to hunt, how to read and write, how to care for horses and armor, and eventually how to fight. The next eight years were spent in this regimen: with the complexity of his duties increasing as he got older. By the age of fifteen, Renault officially became a squire, now able to devote himself almost fully to combat training. Mastering the seven points of agilities, among them riding, swimming, climbing, fencing, and dancing. Six years later, at twenty-one, Renault became eligible for knighthood.

Now able to live out the dreams imparted to him as a boy, Renault consecrated himself to chivalry, joining others among the noble warrior elite. Spending his first few years of knighthood hunting, jousting, attending tournaments, and participating in round tables, Renault found himself feeling dissatisfied, as though he were being called to something greater than himself. That call found him, aged twenty-six, in the Knights of the Merciful Sword.

An order of paladins devoted to the tenets of Tyr, Renault believed that this was the opportunity he needed to answer this great calling. Giving up all lands, titles, and wealth and taking vows of poverty, chastity, piety, and obedience, Renault formally joined the Knights a christened Paladin: a position he would hold for ten years.

Alas, a time must come for all men to face temptation: either to resist or to succumb. Renault's temptation was named Aelena. A beautiful Elven handmaiden attending a Waterdeep noblewoman, Renault first encountered her in one of Draydon's many markets, stopping to retrieve a coin she had dropped. When eyes locked and fingers brushed, the seeds of early attraction were planted. Though seemingly insignificant, that first meeting would eventually be Renault's downfall.

Struggling with intrusive thoughts from their brief exchange, no amount of prayer or reading could ease Renault's mind. He had to see her again. Thus began a city-wide game of hide-and-seek: both parties developing more and more contrived ways to interact with each other over the course of months. A simple "Good day" and "How do you do?" spoke volumes; each overlong glance a yearning from the heart.

Finally, neither Renault or Aelena could take it any more, and met in private with open intentions. A tryst was formed: a crossing of the space between stars as the two reveled in their forbidden union. But not all things are meant to last...

In less than a year, the two were caught in what would be the start of Renault's ruin. Aelena was sent back to Waterdeep in disgrace, never to be seen again, and Renault was banished from the Merciful Sword. In one fell swoop, he had lost everything.

The last seven years of Renault's life have been a blur of misfortune and despondency. Left with nothing, he turned to drink as a means of coping, fading into obscurity in the back room of a tavern. Believing that his actions have shamed not only himself, but Tyr, Renault distanced himself from his past as a paladin; with only his memories and the few trinkets he was allowed to take as keepsakes.

Why have you come to Draydon?
First arrived as a seven year old to be trained in the ways of knighthood. For nearly the last four decades, here he has stayed.

Fighting Style:
In his younger years, Renault blended swordplay with a myriad of holy spells taught to him by the Merciful Sword. Favoring the longsword, Renault used the blade's natural versatility to his advantage: adopting either a one or two-handed grip depending on whether he wanted to keep a hand free for casting or focus solely on more powerful swings. Now, having given up spellcasting for nearly a decade, Renault uses a shield in tandem with his blade. Though somewhat out of practice, Renault's years of combat training and muscle memory still make him a formidable foe; able to near-seamlessly assume different fighting stances depending on his opponent(s).

-Short Biography: Taiborn grew up with a fairly wealthy family, and from a young age was shown to have an affinity for the arcane arts. Largely supported by his family the early years of his arcane delvings was spent in private study with a wizard named Tralic. After a long period of training, and entering into his young adulthood he started to seek a power that his mentor couldn't assist with. Instead of continuing to learn under Tralic, Taiborn decided to follow a personal study into the arcane runes, the forbidden secrets, and ostracizing acts of blood magic.

In his middle-aged years he delved into lost tombs and and crypts searching for more power, magical artifacts, and tomes of secret knowledge. The more he explored the more his desire for power became more insatiable, eventually coming to terms with using the dark secrets to unlock lichdom, the unending necromantic life of the undead. -Short Biography: Taiborn grew up with a fairly wealthy family, and from a young age was shown to have an affinity for the arcane arts. Largely supported by his family the early years of his arcane delvings was spent in private study with a wizard named Tralic. After a long period of training, and entering into his young adulthood he started to seek a power that his mentor couldn't assist with. Instead of continuing to learn under Tralic, Taiborn decided to follow a personal study into the arcane runes, the forbidden secrets, and ostracizing acts of blood magic.
