Evelyn

Thankfully, getting an answer to her questions didn't prove overly difficult. Although, why this complete and utter mook with glasses that were frankly looking like they were amde three or four decades ago was giving her the 'Uhm, ACTUALLY, streamer' attitude and voice was a bit baffling... And annoying. Eve could feel the vein in her right temple twitch as she listened to this snide, smarmy dork explain. But putting his manners and attire aside, he did bring up an interesting tidbit.

A returning, extinct pokemon?

The gears inside Evelyn's head turned. What kind of creature could come backf romh aving been wiped out? Then again, the guy did say it had thought to be extcinct, so maybe the population had just been reduced to a very, very, very low number? Still, all these nerds milling about and excitedly searching for it... That wasn't a good thing... He said they were collectors, but they seemed like the types who thought it was more important to have something becuase it was rare or unusual, rather than because htey should treat it well and treasure it. That was... Unsettling... If this poor pokemon got caught by any of these bit-characters, it'd surely have a really unfortunate future ahead of it - as a display trophy or worse, breeding slave... The blonde shuddered at the thought.

Done with questioning the bug-obsessed geek, the fresh-faced young trainer proceeded to look around. That thing about climbing these giant trees for no other reason than to do it... Yeah, no, thanks but no thanks. While she had confidence in her fitness, there was no way she was going to try and get up into one of these goliath-sized dendroscrapers just because it was an option. Instead, Evelyn began her search for whatever other 'mons she could find. And find some she did.

First were some monkeys. But, like the dark-furred cats back in Grand Glory City, these guys gave off that whole 'Ehehe~ I'm gonna prank ya, bruw!'-vibe. Next up, she accidentally approache done of the trees which had been coated in that weird oozy liquid by the little rodent-thingies and well...

"Oh dear g--- GWAHK!"

While the fetching, prim and proper trainer may be talented at keeping her cool and compsure, not even she could deny the involuntairy gag-reflex that coursed through her body upon getting a whiff of the acrid, putrid stank of... Whatever this goo was. So foul was the smell that she had to put an arm up and cover the lower part of her face and quickly back away to get out of range of this evil evil, unholy abominable substance that, for all the things that were good in this world, better not be the type of rancid odor that clung to stuff. Because if it did, she was SO going to have Growlithe incinerate these clothes later. 'Cuz she was pretty confident nothing could wash away that stink.

Oh, right... Growlithe... And the others!

"C'mon out, guys."

Three pokeballs were thrown in a soft arc, and three trademark sound effects and beams of light later, and the triumphant trio of Eve's team had assembled, curiously looking around and sniffing the air. Well, Growlithe did most of the sniffing, Sentret did most of the looking and Joltik... Well, he kinda just tilted his head a lot and looked confused... Probably wondering where the heck the horizon and SKY had gone, sicne they were now both obscured by the humongous tree-trunks that surrounded the little squad on all sides and everywhere.

"Okay, we're gonna do a bit of forest exploration now, you three. I know, it's gonna be a bit rough, so don't go off on your own, okay?" An unexpected turn of events, as the glamrous girl who seemed to hate anything that didn't involve well-paved sidewalks announced her intent.

"Sentre, Growlithe, I want you to look around and sniff about. If you see or find anything out of place or that we haven't already seen, let me know, okay? Joltik, I need you to be on lookout and let us know if any wild pokemon are getting close or trying to sneak up on us, alright?"

It wasn't very clear instructions, other than she was apparently aiming to search or look for something. The idea was to use Sentret's Keen Eyes and Growlithe's Doggy NOse to try and find... Something... Meanwhile, Joltik, with its multiple eyes, was to act like a sentry and alarm - thus allowing the group to fight off anything that would be upset with them trundling through the forest and its potential territory.

Evelyn thus picked a spot. One of the big trees where the strange markigs from earlier were. She, as a compelete and utter maateur and novice, had no idea if these marks were fresh, old or frankly imitations, but it was as good a place as any to start. She checked her rotom phone, making sure to add a small marker on the map, so she could navigate back to this... Road... Should they wander to deep into the wooded undergrowth. While she had the phone out, the girl also took a bit of time to check out al the various pokemon that her peers had run into and seen so far.

"Oh? Those are cute... Aww~! Ooh, shiny... Wait, they're in the sewers... M-Maybe not... A blue fox...? Huh... Is... Is that one wearing a pikachu like a skin-suit-...!?"

After a bit of mixed reactions to the assortment of 'mons her fellow beginners had run itno, Eve pocketed her phone back and gave the command to get going. And so, the three pokemon and their gallant, gorgeous and not-so-great trainer set off, taking a detour from their path and venturing forth into the woods, in search of... Well... Something.

Evelyn has ordered Sentret and Growlithe to look and sniff for anything interesting or unusual - be it items or pokemon. Joltik has been put in charge of alerting the group to any encroaching hostile pokemon, and Evelyn will use all three of her team's members to fight off any would-be ambushers as they search and explore the forest. If they found any useful-or-precious-looking items, Evelyn would collect them using her [Stylized Work Gloves].

Golett's head turns to look at Pawniard, and though it is expressionless, one could feel it beginning to size the Sharp Blade Pokémon. Its other hand reflexively flexes itself as it slowly let Vivian back down to the group, the young girl almost stumbling over herself as her feet hit solid earth again. Thankfully, before it could begin challenging the Pawniard, its attention got taken up by the Hydreigon that had come to investigate its trainer's distress... Before proceeding to simply flop over on the ground.

Vivian herself finally shook her head, shaking off the remaining dizziness from getting thrown, "Whew! That was... Something! I don't know if that's a thing Goletts do or just this one" Vivian says, turning around to investigate the Golett again, "Well either way, it's certainly a pleasure to meet you Golett! I think I'll name you Atlas for now" she continues happily, giving the Automaton Pokémon a pat on the head before standing up and turning back to the Professor to finish her initiation. As with before, she seemed fairly excited with the whole prospect, quickly documenting Atlas into the phone's dex, making a mental note on how Atlas had approached the relaxing Hydreigon and seemed to be investigating one of the heads.

At the end of the Professor's speech, Vivian rapidly nods, "Okay, so explore the region, catch and find Pokémon, keep an eye out for the other members of the group, I gotcha" she says, placing the Rotom phone in her pocket, "I would certainly go out and see who else I might end up working with, but seeing as I am late, I have to get a move on. Ancient ruins aren't going to explore themselves after all!" with that, Vivian turns and jogs over to Atlas, jolting them from their investigation on the Hydreigon, holding out their Pokeball, "Alright Atlas, let's get a move on, we got some exploring to do!" she says, retrieving the Automaton before giving the resting Hydreigon several pats on each of the head, completely undeterred by their normal reputation, before jogging back to the rest of the group... And going straight past them, turning on her heel to walk backwards while waving, "Okay I'm off! I'll see you all later!" Vivian calls out as she spins back on her heel... Abruptly smacking into the wall just to the side of the door, staggering for a moment before actually running out into the main hall and out of the building to begin her Pokémon adventure.

Vivian begins her Pokémon adventure by attempting to Exit the city and head to Route 4! Which is to say, she gets horribly lost and probably ends up in some random location.

Thanks to her abilities Amelia was able to understand the Mimikyu in her arms as it explained why it was here before suddenly becoming violet as it saw the Pikachu dolls again, getting out of her grip and rushing off to them. Amelia could only smile sadly before following after it and scooping it up again, keeping a firmer grip this time.
"Calm down there. You need to treat your friend right? You can't afford to be distracted. Besides, I like you more than Pikachu. I think Pikachu is more popular then they should be. So, how about you take us to your friend and then we can take them to be treated? Does that sound like a good idea? After all, your friend should be more important then some fake Pikachu, right?" She said gently and soothingly, not being bothered by the flailing claws and being the prime example of grace under pressure, unlike the store owner. "So, come on, take us to your friend. We'll take them somewhere that they'll get better and then you can all be together again. Doesn't that sound like a good plan?"

Clarissa Ryte

Tunnel Network, Hidden Cavern, Grand Glory City

The Rotom Phone read this out loud, at full volume. Its robotic voice bounced off the cavern walls. They were not built with self-preservation in mind.

The Steelix was now facing Clarissa, its big red eyes were now honed in on her though it was not attacking her. It was just looking at her, waiting to see what she would do.

...One could hear a pin drop in the cavern tunnels with how quiet it became in lieu of the Steelix looking over at Clarissa. The psychic, Scrapper, and Pyrite all went utterly silent, Clarissa's mind debating a number of actions in a breif moment of indecision and situational paralysis. Er, not that it wasn't perhaps an understandable sense of situational paralysis given what was going on. Her mind was attempting to fathom just what was looking back at her, directly, and her thoughts raced in ways ranging from 'how to throttle a ghost pokemon possessing my phone' all the way to 'how to survive being swallowed whole by a Steelix'. So many potential things that could happen, so many words that could be said, and yet the reaction of her Pokemon would be telling in their own right.

"...Clack."

A gentle, very very quiet cry from the Roggenrola came out as a small rock would drop from underneath poor Pyrite's two little rock legs, however, as the poor Roggenrola stared back at what must have been death incarnate for its kind. Scrapper, for his part, couldnt' see what was going on...and frankly didn't want to take a look at it all either, especially given Pyrite and Clarissa's utterly stunned freezing in place being much more telling than not it seemed. But what would they do? How could they escape the terrible danger that was a titanic Steelix staring right down on them with eyes that saw through the muck and the darkness? How would they-

Clarissa would start to wave at the Steelix in a friendly manner with her right hand, and attempted to emit 'non-hostile, calming vibes' telepathically to boot.

...What. What?!

It was like going so far into an acute panic that one mentally blanked out, ending up in a moment of surreal clarity and calmness of mind that went even further beyond despite the seemingly illogical nature of it all. Which is to say, Clarissa was trying to make the best of the situation somehow. Meanwhile her left hand was reaching back into her things with one hand, scrambling for something as her brain tried to parse the potential danger, until the crinkle of some sort of plasic bag she wasn't familiar with could be felt. Her left hand would grasp the bag suddenly as a result, withdrawing the item in some hopes that it would be useful enough to-....to....oh for the love of-

"Colonel Jader's Juicy Jerky: 'Deluxe' Teriyaki Flavor"

Had her father slipped this into her things at some point? A bag of his favorite brand of Jerky? Sure it was the one flavor she'd said was 'kinda ok' to get him to stop trying to get her to try it, yeahg, but but she hated-...and he knew-...her mother also-....but...this...never mind. Never mind that she was discovering this during a proper life or death scenario, no, not even this shortly into her journey into Evig. But this? Well, it was worth a shot, right? Maybe it had so much salt to it that it'd come off as more mineral-y? Maybe?

She was, after all, a bit desperate right now. Whew. Breathe. Slowly. In and out. In and out. Imagine the sound of running, crystal clear waters around Agate Village from back during her training in Orre somewhat. Good.

Taking out the bag of jerky, and using the other hand not holding the bag to now gently push the poor little Pyrite (who frnakly didn't resist the action at all in lieu of things) behind her. She then, essnetially, offered the bag of jerky to the Steelix with her left hand...and then levitated it up in the air a little to offer it once she got the idea that her hand might be forefit otherwise. Likewise, she tried to adjust from the calming and non-hostile vibes telepathically to a likewise calm, non-hostile 'offer to talk' telepathically to the Steelix's mind in a gentle, approachable, friendly, non-hostile, non-prodding/non-aggressive, not-moving-too-fast telepathic manner as she could ever hope to muster within her levels of existing self-control.

Maybe all of this would help? Maybe? She hadn't the idea, but in the heat of the moment this was going to be her way of reacting to things as she and her two out-of-Pokeball Pokemon currently were trying to see if they needed to 'run like a Golbat outta hell' or not. Because while yes, Kapoc had warned her against powers use, this was both far from other people and....ah....a potential life or death scenario involving Pokemon. Yes. She was doing her best, darn it, to not die! But her Rotom Phone's lack of responses from the others was also worrying, even if it wasn't exactly anywhere near the top of her priorities list of 'things to think about or deal with' at the very moment for more-than-obvious reasons.

Was that attempt two? Steph wasn't sure if it counted, but she would count it for now if only to be safe. She was pretty sure that counted as an attempt, though even before the spikes of ice were finished forming, Steph's mind was already working to find a way to work it to her advantage. Her instincts were sharp it seemed, especially as she locked in to the task at hand with no time to think too hard on it. Could her team keep up with her instincts though? That remained to be seen.

"Glory, aqua jaeh' up the spoikes and use em as a rahmp! Thaen Oy wahnt ya t' come daown hahd on hiiem weeth aqua jaeh'! As hahd as yah cahn! Steven, use wottah gun on Glory t' acsaeleryte hiies spayd and paowah! Thaen rine daown some moah wottah guns whoile he cawntinues t' bounce around and foind an openin if ya cahn! Dusk, troy and cree-uyte an open weeth embah aw tyke advahntage of an openin caused boy the uhthahs t' hiieh' the Metagross weeth embah!" Either way, she would aim to get Dusk closer and closer. All out attack was the aim of the game for her right now, to try and cash in with pressure as much she could.

With this most likely being attempt 3, she knew she had to keep setting up for that last gamble, just in case it was needed. And for that, she needed Dusk closer to the other two. Hopefully she wouldn't, but it wouldn't hurt either way. At this stage also, she was really getting into the fight, forgetting about the crowd around them as she thought of what move the Metagross might use next.

A psychic based move? A ground move? Another of the elemental punches maybe? She hadn't seen it use a steel type move either yet. Or maybe it had a defensive move? A set-up move? A status move? Her mind began to race through the options she could think of, but until she saw them she could only theorize what could be potentially pointless counters as they mightn't apply to the situation at hand.

At any rate, keeping up the pressure was her best move here. Maybe one of Glory, Dusk or Steve could find a blind spot thanks to the sand, especially if they alternate their attacks, or attack at the same time. No doubt her opponent was already catching onto her plan, it wasn't anything fancy though it did indeed show she had a good mind for battles, but Steph was fine with that. A good strategy was sometimes a predictable strategy, thats why she would just have to change it up with something unexpected if she felt the need.

Or just have this third attempt work. That would be preferable....

Valerian did not have time to react to the first Mimikyu. A second Mimikyu jumped onto his face. For the third time today, Valerian screamed. His voice was muffled underneath the haunted fabric. “Unhand this instant! I’m royalty!” He stumbled around trying to get the thing off. Knocking over a display of Pokeballs in the process.

Aurelia Rose and Camellia did nothing to help. They stood there (or hovered in Aurelia Rose’s case) giggling like giddy schoolgirls as they watched the drama unfold.

Finally, Valerian managed to pry the Ghost/Fairy off of his face, and held it at arm’s length. He panted, and his hair got fluffed up in the scuffle. “You are adorable, and I am an advocate for Fairy types, so I won’t hold this against you. But if you wish to haunt me, then do it properly. As my partner.”

Valerian reached into his bag, pulled out a pokeball, and gently booped it to the Mimikyu’s head. The Poké Ball opened with a flash of red light and swallowed the small Pokémon whole. It dropped to the floor, where it started shaking. Valerian looked at it, hands clasped in prayer. “Come now, darling. Don’t be difficult.”

Audrey smiled widely as she listened to Basil. Meeting him in the flesh, woah.. I guess Basil is just travelling, like us. She looked back seeing that the elite four member was saying hello to their Pokémon! And great!...They fainted...I think-? Maybe Basil's suggestion of going to a Pokémon center was worth trying...after all it IS FROM AN ABSOLUTELY AWESOME TRAINERR!!!
"Well, I can't give you an autograph, but how about a selfie instead? I'd feel bad to leave you empty handed. You can join too, Archie." Awh shuckles! No autograph...But selfies? YESS!! "Thanks!" the girl said before snapping like a few hundred pictures with her rotom phone, nothing much.

Unfortunately the happiest moments do not last forever, and police cars show up to collect Basil. "Dreams are heavy and, believe me, you're gonna carry that weight." woah...that's so inspiring. Audrey happily waved bye, I think I might be crying...no wait nevermind. Taking a deep breath, "Maybe we can take that suggestion and go to the Pokémon center? Anyways she grabbed Archie's hand gently and walked to the Pokémon center. I wish we had bikes...or something.
——————

At the Pokèmon center Audrey looked around, how cute! She quickly walked up to the counter and placed Rift's pokéball on it waiting for her precious little baby boy to be healed. Well...after that, she had free will again. Turning the look at Archie, "Uhhhhh...Maybe we can like go somewhere. Explore? Catch Pokémon?" Audrey thought for a bit...a little longer.. And then ding! Idea. "Like route 1? Lets go there!" she said enthusiastically before practically dragging Archie out of town. When they finally reached route 1, well of course Audrey began looking for Pokémon. Preferably cool ones.

"Dreams are heavy..." Archie repeated, taking those words to heart. It was true that his dream of becoming a hero like Adriane seemed a little far-fetched at the moment, but that didn't deter him from being so stoked about his future. If anything, it gave him more courage to pursue the path ahead of him, now knowing that he could eventually achieve his main goal by completing small goals along the way.

After taking almost a hundred selfies with Basil, Archie also took a quick selfie with his Darmanitan while it still carried the unconscious thief (even Bravos was too which, Archie wasn't going to lie, was a little funny) before Archie and Audrey waved good-bye to the Elite Four member.

Audrey then lead them towards the Pokémon Center which was filled with all kinds of people just chilling with their Pokémon. It was so wonderful to watch, humans and Pokémon living together in harmony. It made Archie's dream of being a hero more resolute. Like Adriane, he wanted to help protect the happiness of everyone.

As Nurse Joy returned their Pokémon to them, Audrey suggested- well, basically she chose their next destination for them. "Finally we're out of the city! I know it's only been a couple hours but it felt like weeks!" Archie excitedly said as he followed Audrey. His Rotom phone hovered beside him to show a map as they made their way out of Grand Glory. The map showed Route 1 connecting the city to something called-

"Illusive Woods? Sounds ominous... Let's check that out after we explore Route 1!"

"You picked a fight and weren't...Suppose I've maybe spent too long watching League battles..." He looked into the trees and then at Slayer. "You down to chase Riolu?" The Ralts nods, determination in its eyes.

"Ralts! Ra Ra Ralts!" With a grin and a nod, Jason jobs into the trees after the Riolu. "Alright, Slayer, lead with Double Team again and don't slow down. Keep slinging Disarming voices and Growls." Once the Riolu was significantly weakened, he intended to try and capture it, though not necessarily before Slayer and it finished their conversation. The intent behind this challenge wasn't entirely clear, but the aspiring Champion would meet it head on.

Nils
______________________________
[ cs ]

Location: Grand Glory City: Sewers

The more Nils heard from Detective Dudley's mouth, the more he felt this guy was not really a threat. While appearances could easily be deceiving, and the spoken words could just as easily be lies as they were truth, Nils just didn't get the sense that the man was deceiving him. This is just really sad, Nils thought as Dudley continued. He slipped the business card into his pocket and somewhat awkwardly listened to the rest of the story, concluding with the man's destitute situation and the rhetorical question.

"I guess not," Nils answered. It was definitely weird to find other people traipsing around in the sewers after all. As for the detective, Nils judged his earlier self-disparaging comment to be right: the guy was a weirdo, but not the creepy dangerous kind.

The other part of the story, before Dudley had just started talking about how awful his life currently was (Nils felt bad for him but there wasn't much he could for him), was what most caught the newbie trainer's attention. Assuming that the detective wasn't lying, then there was a string of disappearances in Grand Glory City. Kidnappings, or something else...? And why the heck would a sewer be the last place a rich kid had been seen before going missing?

Nils crossed his arms as he closed his eyes to think about the situation. At the same time Tors had apparently decided that Dudley wasn't too dangerous to help out of the waste water, and reached his neck out for that purpose. Once the detective got close enough he'd chomp onto the nearest unsullied part of the man's outfit to haul him back onto the platform.

A missing kid and their pokemon, the last place they were known to have been being in the sewers under the city... and not only them, but a trend of missing people and pokemon... Hmmm... Had they all just happened to get lost playing around down here...? Were they brought to this place, or perhaps lured...?

"Actually, you wouldn't have seen anything would you?"
Detective Dudley

Nils opened his eyes to look at the man and shook his head. "No, we've only seen local pokemon so far. Besides, well, finding you, nothing weird happened other than running into that tunnel when... we were following that... crying noise..."

The boy trailed off, his eyes growing large as he heard his own words. That crying sound! If they really thought about it, how could it be heard on the surface from all the way down beneath the city with all of the earth, metal, and concrete in the way? Before Nils had been of the same mind as Clarissa and that there was some sad pokemon making the noise, but with what he knew now it cast the crying in a much more suspicious light. If other kids had followed that crying noise down here too, then... wasn't it possible that's how they disappeared?!

Which meant that Nils definitely shouldn't have let Clarissa go on by herself. Maybe that message she'd tried to send was some kind of warning, or an SOS, and she was in trouble!

"Tors, return!" Nils suddenly exclaimed as he turned and bolted back the way they'd come. The mudbray was recalled to his pokeball, and in his place Nils released Rau. The Rattata didn't let any confusion at the situation stop him from keeping up with his trainer, and then swiftly obeying his orders as he bid the pokemon, "run ahead and down that tunnel, go find Clarissa!"

Far faster than a human, the pokemon was out of sight within a few seconds. Nils didn't look back at Dudley but he assumed the man would follow after him, especially when he shouted to the man, "it could be nothing, but we might have found your lead, detective!"

Ah hah! A magnemite! Strange that it had found its way here. Must have gotten lost, and holed up in here when it found out there was food. If she let it run away, it could just hide somewhere until she eventually goes away. She might be able to hunt it down again by having Kaebe track it, but she had to wonder how well he could track a metal pokemon.

She reacted quickly, already running for the door, “Kaebe, Tackle! Don’t let it out!” No roaring. This was an apartment complex, she’d disturb the whole building. She, herself, ran to block the door, as well, hoping Kaebe would be quick enough to intercept the metal ball. If not, they’d have a chase on their hands. She supposed chasing it away could be counted as a success, it would likely go and find s.. somewhere else to hide and suck the juice from.. but at least she’d be able to tell this complex she’d solved the problem. She’d rather not solve this that way.. And besides, Magnemite was a sturdy Metal/Electric Pokemon. It would be handy for handling electrical disasters.

“Can you grab it in your mouth? Hold it still so I can catch it.” She pulled a Pokeball, getting ready for Kaebe to hold the Magnemite for her.

Claris

Claris registered the Hydreigon without startling, but her focus adjusted instantly. What had been a brewing standoff between Golett and Pawniard broke as the ghost-type’s attention snapped to the new arrival, tension bleeding off at the greater threat.

Claris noted the dissipated conflict with faint relief. The look in Golett’s posture just before the shift was too squared, too still. Pawniard hadn’t moved yet, but she’d seen the subtle twitch in his arm, the recalibration of his stance. He’d been ready.

Professor Kapoc, for his part, didn’t even react. He just kept talking, as if grumpy dragons were a daily feature in his lab.

And perhaps they were.

Vivian bounced back easily, naming her Golett Atlas with a cheerful certainty Claris couldn’t imagine mustering. She watched as the girl circled the Hydreigon and then the group, full of momentum and intent. There was no calculation in her steps, no fear in patting one of the most notoriously destructive Pokémon in existence on the head. Claris didn’t envy that, but there was something oddly admirable about it.

Her Rotom Phone hovered into her peripheral, seeking attention. She caught it with one hand and powered on the Pokédex. A quick scan of her partner—Pawniard. Male. Adamant. Inner Focus.—confirmed her assumptions, but her attention stayed on the subject more than the data.

He hadn’t so much as glanced at the Hydreigon when it passed, nor had he broken eye contact with Golett until the moment the ghost-type’s attention shifted. Instead, he held that same unreadable gaze, as if he were measuring the world by how much of it could be cut cleanly in half.

Claris let out a slow breath before tucking the phone into her coat pocket. The Rotom protested with a little warble, then settled begrudgingly at her shoulder.

No name yet. Not until she was certain. But something about the way he kept her in his periphery, always tracking, always measuring—it settled oddly neatly with her.

Kapoc’s lecture wrapped, followed by a small sack tossed with barely any ceremony. Claris caught hers mid-air with practiced ease. The weight of the bag said around ten Pokeballs, and she confirmed it when she tucked a few into a pocket and the rest into her bag.

Director Beck and Champion Brand stood off to the side now, Adriane still grinning like this was all a game. And Vivian, of course, was already sprinting past them mid-sentence, her voice trailing off in tandem with the pat-pat-pat of her feet—and then a sharp thunk.

Claris turned just in time to see her hit the wall. She said nothing, but her Rotom let out a tiny whirring beep that might have been a laugh.

Claris didn’t smile, but she exhaled through her nose as what resembled amusement flickered behind her eyes before turning back to the others.

“Understood,” she said with a small nod. “I’ll begin my survey at the trainer school before heading south.”

She cast a glance at the Pawniard beside her. He hadn’t shifted since the Hydreigon’s arrival, but his posture remained alert—blades relaxed, gaze forward, not forgetting the Golett’s earlier challenge. Like her, he hadn’t mistaken the moment for over.

Claris turned toward the city’s heart, away from the simulated wilds and open possibility. There would be time for that. For now, structure came first.

The Trainer’s School wasn’t far. A good place to begin, observe, and prepare.

She stepped forward, and the Pawniard fell in beside her without a sound.

So thus began the scavenging for, well, whatever she expected to find in this forest where the sky doesn't exist and in its place was green and just darker shades of green. The two with the sensitive nose and eyes scoured the forest though the one with the very good nose, the Growlithe, kept its snout towards the ground chasing down whatever scent it could get and a scent it did find. It ran off somewhere excitedly and somewhere by the base of one of those arbor skyscrapers and started to dig into the earth with its little paws, spraying dirt into the air and leaving it in a scattered pile behind it.

Meanwhile the Sentret had no need to fuss over things such as digging holes. Instead it looked around with its keen eyes, which were extra keener than some other Sentret due to its Keen Eye ability. There were too many keens in that sentence. The point was that Keen Eye actually allowed Sentret a better chance of finding items so that Keen Eye is actually useful. Anyway! It went off to look for things on the surface rather than in the ground below.

Of course, miss congeniality dared not to dirty her own hands and put on gloves —her very, very glamorous gloves that were totally made for outdoor use— and just kept watch with her Joltik for any potential Pokemon that would take exception to them rooting around for goods. However, most of the residents in this part of the forest were relatively passive if they were left well enough alone. Well, except for the Aipoms. No one could really ever relax around them lest they become the victim of their little pranks.

Eventually two of Evelyn's Pokemon returned with gifts in hand and, er, mouth. While her Sentret looked very neat and pristine, her Growlithe had a very generous coat of dirt over its orange and black fur. Sentret handed her a collection of eclectic items while Growlithe placed a rock with a leaf shape pattern on it.

Evelyn received 3x Small Mushrooms, 1x Large Mushroom, 3x Oran Berries, and 1x Leaf Stone

Just as her Growlithe placed the stone in her hand, its nose twitched again and it ran towards one of the trees with one of those clean gashes in and pointed its nose in another direction before it began to bark. Seems like it got the scent of whatever made the cut.

Now what?

@Goggy

So began the adventure of Vivian and she decided that it was time to go explore Route 4! Uh, wait a minute. Where was she going? Vivian, Route 4 is that way. You're going the wrong way! Where are you going? Vivian? Vivian!

...

Well, Vivian was once again greeted by the bustling streets of Grand Glory and would walk through the sidewalks trickling with a never-ending flow of people going about their business. Buildings were being constructed among already towering skyscrapers, which meant construction was everywhere. Roads were either closed or congested while parts of sidewalks had scaffolding to protect people from any potential objects falling from above. Electronic street signs showed advertisements for products, some for things as mundane as Pokeballs and some more glamorous with models made to make some product's overly inflated price tag justifiable.

Besides the human residents of the city, there were wild Pokemon as well! Well, at least the ones that could immediately be seen. Everywhere Vivian went he would see little birds looking about, sitting on street lampposts and electrical cables that were strewn above.

In this case, it seemed like there were two types of Flying-Types that were in competition to get the most food.

Pokedex Entry #016- Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. They are docile Pokémon that avoid fighting, kicking up sand in an enemy’s face or using Whirlwind to avoid battles. They have sharp senses of direction, capable of finding their nest or destination from very large distances. They inhabit tall grass where they search and prey on small bugs.

Pokedex Entry #519-Pidove, the Tiny Pidgeon Pokemon. Where people go, these Pokémon follow. If you're scattering food for them, be careful— several hundred of them can gather at once. It's forgetful and not very bright, but many Trainers love it anyway for its friendliness and sincerity.

Besides the birds, there were also some felines just lazing about that took advantage of the food offerings that humans gave them and otherwise would just be looting.

Pokédex Entry #052 – Meowth, the Scratch Cat Pokémon. During the night Meowth are known to sneak around stealthily in search of prey and shiny objects which it adores with a passion. During the day, Meowth is known to laze around all day. In the dark, its eyes glow.

Then there were scurrying rat Pokemon that seemed to be the prey of the Meowth when they felt like hunting.

Pokédex Entry #019 – Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon. This Pokémon is common but hazardous. Its sharp incisors can easily cut right through hard wood. Its incisors grow continuously throughout its life. If its incisors get too long, this Pokémon becomes unable to eat, and it starves to death.

Instead of ending up in Route 4, for whatever reason she ended up in a construction site though there were no people around. In fact, the only thing she had for company was the background noise of the city. So for whatever reason she just kept exploring the place until she stumbled upon an incomplete underground parking around. It was lit up with construction lamps that littered all over the place and she heard funny sounds in the distance. It almost sounded like cheering.

As she wandered in she was greeted by the sight of many the same types of Pokemon she encountered on the surface of the city cheering as they watched two Pokemon just beating the ever loving hell out of each other. One of them was a bipedal light grayish blue creature with red eyes and beige fins on its head getting smacked around by a stern looking brown bird carrying a massive leak that was way bigger than its body.

#066-Machop, the Superpower Pokemon. Always brimming with power, it passes time by lifting boulders. Doing so makes it even stronger.

#083-Farfetch'd, the Wild Duck Pokemon. The Farfetch'd of the Galar region are brave warriors, and they wield thick, tough leeks in battle.

There were other Pokemon in the audience as well. One of them was a purple cat with cream patches of fur and these strange violet markings above its eyes. They looked adorable, and yet there were mischievous looks in their eyes as if they waited for you to let your guard down.

#509-Purloin, the Devious Pokemon. It steals things from people just to amuse itself with their frustration. Opponents that get drawn in by its adorable behavior come away with stinging scratches from its claws and stinging pride from its laughter.

Then there were these other cats that just... they just stared into the void. These things with gray fur with white tuffs of fur on its ears and paws, their pale purple eyes with their darker purple pupils just looked off into something that we could not comprehend.

#677-Espurr, the Restraint Pokemon. It keeps its ears covered to prevent the intense psychic power in its body from escaping, but it falls unconscious if this power builds too much. Behind an Espurr's expressionless face is a frantic struggle to contain psychic power.

They all watched as the Farfetch'd knocked the Machop clean on its back unconscious with a vicious swing of its leek, and turned to the crowd with its wings held up as if to say 'are you not entertained.' The crowd erupted in cheers. Before she could even attempt to slip away, the bird's sharp eyes focused in on her and it pointed its leek at her.

What does she do?

@Joshua Tamashii@Crimson Flame

The Mimikyu that Amelia was pleading with stopped mid-head rip of another stuffed Pikachu and looked at her through the little eye holes of its costume and then looked back at the doll before dropping it on the ground.

"Mimu..." It then turned to look at its friend that was absorbed into the Pokeball. It fell to the ground where it began to shake.

It shook once

@baraquiel@GremlinAgain

Ah yes, free will. A wonderful thing to have. With that free they would truly begin their journey. Making their way out of Grand Glory, they would see the city life of people and Pokemon going about their day, loud and ever bustling. People and Pokemon working as a collective, in harmony, or very much at least as best as all fallible things could. The closer she was to the city limits the activity lessened. The buildings also started to become smaller, more suburban until even these mundane homes disappeared too. The air became cleaner over time, free from the fumes and exhaust of vehicles. It was not long until she reached the official end of the city limits and stepped on a dirt path.

@Zarkun

Yes Jason, you most likely have watched too many league battles. Your mother said so.

While Slayer made a valiant effort to keep up with the Riolu, it just wasn't really possible. Ralts had little, dainty legs that were not exactly made for speed while Riolu were speedy little buggers. Jason would know after trying to chase after it. Now there also was the thing about terrain and moves that bypassed accuracy checks; they still interacted with each other in various ways. In this case, the Riolu kept ducking behind trees to avoid the Disarming Voices, the heart shaped sound waves left deep marks in trees.

However, some of the Growls did cause the blue fox to recoil at various points which lowered its attack somewhat so at least they got that going for themselves. The problem though was that they had no idea where the little bastard went. Like how Jason chased it before, it was running circles around them as if it could tell exactly where they were and where they were going to be. In this small forest, this little Riolu had the advantage of terrain. Smart, annoying, but smart.

For a moment there was a stillness. A silence hung in the air before a loud CRACK rang through the air and one of Slayer's doppelgangers dissipated in what Jason could only describe to be a blast of wind. The tree behind the doppelganger had a fist sized indentation deep in its trunk. If they were to look in the direction of the source of the blast, they would obviously see the Riolu gritting its teeth before it punched the air, sending a concentrated force at Slayer in hopes of hitting Slayer.

Now, what's the plan? Do they simply attack it or do they have a more creative play to make?

@CitrusArms

As the Magnemite tried to make its grand escape it it was a bit hard when Kaebe the blue bitey dinosaur was lunging at it while Reagan blocked the door to make sure the little electric sucker didn't escape. Well, it worked. The Tyrunt's body smacked against the Magnemite for not very effective damage though it was a critical hit. However, they were in a supply closet and they were not exactly known for being the most spacious of places, so when the little metal ball was flung back it slammed against one of the shelves filled with cleaning supplies and other equipment.

The shelf leaned forward, things shifted and fell to the ground with a clatter as the shadow loomed over her, Kaebe, and the Magnemite.

"Magne?"

CRASH! BANG! CLANG!

All three of them were buried underneath the shelf and a collection of cleaning supplies. Reagan would climb through the clutter of course and then Kaebe popped out with the Magnemite in its mouth, its single eye a single dazed swirl. However, just before Regan to boop it with a Pokeball, its eye gained focus and furrowed in anger as electricity crackled around its body as it shocked Reagan with a bolt of electricity. Kaebe didn't get off too easy either, you know, with the fact that its mouth was being electrocuted. I don't care if dragon types are resistant to electric attacks, that still has to hurt.

Reagan was left smelling slightly like burnt barbecue and her hair was standing up with an electric afro. Meanwhile, Kaebe's grip loosened and the Magnemite made a run (hover?) for the door.

What does she do?

@Typical

"Oh Claris, before you go there's one thing I have for you. It's from Lucen." Kapoc called out to her. He rummaged through those deep pockets from his lab coat and fished out an envelope. "He told me to give it to you when you decided to swing by the lab. He also told me to tell you this; don't open it yet. 'You'll know when the time is right,' whatever that means. Why can't you two just talk to each other like normal people?"

Claris received Lucen's Letter!

Well, with that she left the lab to begin her journey with her tiny stabby partner by her side. The air in the city was electric. Life flourished in what was a relatively young city, the heart of activity where those who were once refugees now lived their life far away from the horrors that inflicted Evig those years ago. People and Pokemon lived together in harmony, out in the open without fear or ever having to look over their shoulder. It was a city. It had traffic, advertisements lit up with digital signs, and businesses ranging from fast food chains to monolithic buildings that realistically should have not been able to be built up so quickly, but the power of Pokemon sped up the process. It was just a normal city filled with normal people living their normal lives, exactly what Lucen had hoped for.

Besides the human residents of the city, there were wild Pokemon as well! Well, at least the ones that could immediately be seen. Everywhere Claris went he would see little birds looking about, sitting on street lampposts and electrical cables that were strewn above.

In this case, it seemed like there were two types of Flying-Types that were in competition to get the most food.

However, if she were to look at her Pokedex she would see entries of Pokemon were logged by her coworkers that got to the lab earlier than she did. There were Pokemon in the area that she had not seen yet, but the data was accessible to her.

To get to the school though she would have to walk past fences made of pale bricks of stone and wrought iron where she would be greeted by an expanse of nature curated by people.

@Lunarlord34

"Oh? Now you're making this fun!" He said as if he was not starting to feel a little bit of pressure now. He would really look like a moron if he lost to her, a newbie, after talking that mad shit earlier. Like it's nothing that he couldn't handle, but he was suddenly acutely aware of his situation. It was not like it was easy to battle someone weaker than him, in fact, it presented a very unique challenge given this set of rules.

"Metagross use Psychic on the Embers and redirect them towards the Water Guns and get out of the way of that Aqua Jet!" The big X on the Metagross began to glow a bluish hue and the bits of fire that Dusk emitted took on that hue and were shot towards the the streams of water that were raining down from above. They collided, being equal in power and with each collision a hissing of steam could be heard as clouds of steam began to form above. As Glory came rocketing down towards the Metagross, the faster Pokemon that was unimpeded by the Wimpodd's allies was able to just jump out of the way.

"Hm, I should change your moveset later. You really should know Protect." He mused to himself though this really was starting to get a bit too close for comfort. He could only have pulled Psychic maneuver only because Dusk and Steve were just so much weaker by comparison. Steph could see that he was beginning to tense a little.

"Got anymore tricks up your sleeve?"

@Crusader Lord

We now interrupt your RP with the following commercial break.

A guitar rift that sounds like it belongs in a Ford commercial plays in the background and a man with a thick brown beard and waxed mustache dressed in a colonels uniform sat on a rock in a desert with his hands together looking down before he lifts his head to face the camera. The camera cuts to a zoom on his face and the man begins to speak in the most gravelly, deep, southern accent one could imagine.

"You weren't born to be confined. You were born wild an' free, just like the rugged taste of Colonel Jader's Juicy Jerky." The camera cuts to a bag jerky that he lifted up that he was certainly not holding before. He stood up and began to walk, the camera followed him along as he did so. "Made with the highest quality of beef and smoked with our secret blend, you will feel as bold as the taste of our jerky."

The man walked up to a red pickup truck and the commercial cut to the man sitting in the car and slamming the door. He looks out the window while holding the bag of jerky out the window. "Because you were made to go out there. Feed the wild side." The man bit off a hunk of jerky before he drove off as the camera panned out while a Braviary flew past the camera followed by the very rugged looking logo fading into the screen.

We now return to your featured RP.

The Steelix slowly approached her, its lumbering body rumbled against the earth. It lowered its massive head inches away from her hand, its sharp red eyes focused on the bag of jerky held out to it. It sniffed it cautiously and eyed Clarissa suspicious of the bag of, well, dried out salty and smokey meat.

"Lix!" It grunted before it opened its mouth wide open. Now Clarissa could say that she knows what the inside of a Steelix mouth looks like; a massive mouth with gap teeth that looked like they could and have ground rock into powder. Then the mouth clamped down around...the bag of jerky?

Clarissa would just watch this Steelix much away at her offering, hesitant on whether to say it liked the jerky or not until it seemed to decide that it did indeed like it with a nod of approval. Maybe the texture of the jerky reminded it of the rocks that it typically ate, albeit with more sodium and added MSG. It looked at her and decided to commit this snack giver to memory.

This particular Steelix will remember you!

LIIIIIIIIIX! It roared with approval before it burrowed into another hole in the wall, leaving as quickly as it came.

However, quickly enough a familiar little rodent rushed to her side. She would recognize the little Alolan Rattata, Rau, having followed her scent.

@Shazamrock

Meanwhile, Dudley rushed after Nils and, well, he was not particularly a fit person. He huffed and puffed as he ran after him. "Kid, huff, slow down! What are you talking about?!"

Eventually the duo would find themselves in front of that hole that Clarissa crawled through earlier. Dudley looked at him as if to ask the boy if he was for real. "Kid, my butt is gonna get stuck in the entrance alone. You're gonna have to do this on your own, but take this. It's not much, but it should be helpful in a scrape." The detective handed him a small little purple ball.

Nils received a Smokeball!

With resolve and maybe a healthy amount of apprehension, our intrepid adventurer knelt down and crawled her way into the makeshift hole. It was pitch black in there. He wouldn't be able to even see his own hand even if it was an inch away from his face, but judging by the direction after a few minutes he realized that he was going slightly downwards.

It was hard to say how he was in there, but it was plain to see that this was not leading to the other side of the wall. What he felt between his hands was no longer concrete, but rock and dirt. Nils would keep crawling through this long and narrow space for what must've felt like ten minutes until he saw... a light? There was a light literally at the end of the tunnel. With a final push she crawled out of the hole into an open space. An impossible space.

Where the hell was he?

Evelyn

Evelyn had a very modest pace while trailing behind her pokemon, who were far more excited about the prospect of denrophilic exploration than she herself was. Thankfully, the residents of the forest remained passive and unintrusive - even though the blonde and he r'mons were the actual intruders. THe only ones you needed to keep an eye on were those damned monkeys... Bloody monkeys, man.

Still, it didn't take long for her little entourage to return. Sentret, the prim and proper, came back with a whole bunch of little treasures, proudly presenting them to his trainer with a big smile on his fuzzy face.

"Wow, look at all this. Great job, Sentret. You're amazing!" She said with a big smile herself.
"Sentret~!"

After giving the plump, rotund bunny-rodent-thing a gentle few pats on the noggin', Eve collected her bounty of new organic treasures and stored them away safely in her bag. A bag that, somehow, seemed to have so many folds, pockets and internal sections that it managed to keep all the different bits and bobs that were placed into seperated... Because, let's face it, there was no way Eve would've allowed something like mushrooms to rub off and put their scent on the clothes she wore. Amazing technology those trainer bags, eh?

Regardless, next up was Growlithe. The excitable pooch returned with something shiny in its mouth, and plopped it down at Evelyn's feet, letting out a proud and happy bark as he did - tail wagging in joy and expectancy. The blonde teen looked down at the strange... Rock? It was... Very odd. Like... Were stones usually green? And who carved the little leaf symbol onto it? It was cute and all, but still... Seemed like a lot of artisanic effort that was just wasted if you were just gonna bury it out in the wild. Still, it was shiny and unique, so the girl - after brushing it off with her gloved hands - placed the odd leaf-patterned stone into her bag too.

"Good job, Growlithe. You're so ... ... ... Eugh... You're a mess again."

No apts for the dirty boy. But it didn't matter, as the little pup's nose twitched and he was off again, far faster than Eve could dig around in her amazing bag and retrieve the brush and comb from it. This time though, the little champ didn't go to dig something up. Instead, he ran over to a big ol' tree with some of those weird cut-marks on it, sniffed at it, pointed his head in a different direction and let out a knowing bark. Eve, for a moment, just stared in a big of bewilderment and confusion. After all, it wasn't like she spoke Growlithean... Or, any sort of pokemonese for that matter.

But,e ventually the gears began to turn, the light bulb above her head lit up and she got the message. Walking over to the doggo, folloed by Joltik and Sentet, she squatted down next to the good boy.

"You picked up on whatever made the scratches on the tree?"
Confirmative bark.
"And it's over in that direction?"
More confirmative barking.
"Huh... Well, it is supposed to be a rare pokemon... And I'm worried what all these bug-nerds would do if they accidentally found it." The girl pondered, before sighing and getting back up. "Alright, let's go have a look and see if we can't find it. Growlithe, lead the way. Sentret, help keep an eye out. Joltik, same please."
Happy barks.
Undecipherable chittering.
"Sentret!" With the salute.

And so, they set off. Eve really, really wanted to brush off Growlithe, but knowing the little raggamuffin would probably run through bushes or into more things that'd get caught in his fur, she... Endured... The impulse for now. After all, it wasn't like they'd run into anyone good-looking or fashionably stylish out here, in the middle of a gosh-darn forest! Surrounded by prankster-monkeys. ... Right?

Anyway.

Evelyn is letting Growlithe use his nose to follow the scent of whatever made the strange marks on the big tree. Sentret and Joltik are keeping their eyes peeled for ambushes, aggressors or other things.

Vivian Sorex

With the confidence that can only be achieved by ignoring reality itself, Vivian makes her way through Grand Glory City. She lacked a map, but she was pretty sure she could find her way through the city and to her first destination. All she had to do was follow the signs!

Of course none of the signs she saw (and didn’t miss) pointed her towards Route 4, but she would find them eventually.

In the meantime, Vivian simply enjoyed the city’s sights. She might have been an archeologist and preferred the intrigue of ancient ruins, but she could still enjoy the vibe of a bustling city, even though it was far busier than even Hearthome. There was the thought of trying to catch a few of the wild Pokémon she saw as she walked, but the idea quickly passed out of her mind. Trying to catch them would take up valuable time that could be better spent hunting for her TRUE target!

… Wait, when did she walk into a construction zone?

Blinking in confusion, Vivian quickly looks around, attempting to mentally map out her movements that led her to this place… Before immediately giving up on that and instead focusing her attention on the place she was now in and what was actually going on. It seemed like a sort of fight club with wild Pokémon, complete with an audience. In a way, it actually interested her: Was there any significance to this place for the Pokémon to decide to fight here? Maybe it was just a matter of convenience: They wanted to fight, so they just picked the most open area they could find. It wasn’t something she thought she could ever have found out by looking at ancient tablets and ruins at least… Just a random happenstance that history would never remember.

Of course, her train of thought was interrupted as she took notice of the Farfetch’d defeating their opponent, electing a cheer from the gathered audience of Pokémon… Before turning to her and lifting their leek menacingly, “Huh wait, m-me?” she asks, drawing a line from the Farfetch’d’s leek to herself… And in a rare moment of understanding, understood what it was wanting from her, launching the young girl into a stammering mess as she waved her arms about, “N-Now hold on I’m not here for a fight, I’m just walking around! In fact I was just about to-”

Suddenly, the Pokeball on her belt activates on its own, a flash of light erupting from it as Atlas stepped out, rolling its ‘shoulders’ as it regarded the Farfetch’d before it. Their sudden appearance had completely thrown Vivian off, blinking in confusion as she looked between both Atlas and the bird before her. With a defiant sounding mechanical noise, Atlas began to walk forward, entering the ring to square up with the Farfetch’d. Even as Vivian took notice and tried to call Atlas back, her efforts for naught in the face of Atlas’ devotion to accepting this challenge.

Disregarding their trainer’s panic at the situation, Atlas took up a boxing stance, flexing their fingers as its inner glow intensified for a brief moment. It may have been small and certainly not built for this opponent, but it was clear that Atlas was prepared to give this fight its all.

Atlas (not Vivian) will engage in fisticuffs with the Farfetch'd, using its arms and Defense Curl to block the latter's attacks and viciously counter with Fire Punch whenever possible.

They finally had free will, not sure if Archie did considering Audrey suggested everything. But hey, she had free will so thats good!

"Illusive Woods? Sounds ominous... Let's check that out after we explore Route 1!"

Oh my arceus. There. Is. So. Much. Grass. was the first thing to pop up in Audrey's mind, well of course there is grass Audrey. Look at the scenery... "Oh wow..." Archie said, looking in awe at the amount of open area, grass, trees, people, and Pokémon milling about. He lived in cities most of his life so he was also surprised when he could breathe in the rich, cool air. He's also surprised by the huge amount of activity going on in Route 1 even when they're outside the citiy. He always thought those that lived in countrysides or near nature were laid-back, but apparently not!

"Don't worry, Audrey! Me and Bravos are gonna be fine. We'll take a look around a bit and then decide on what we're gonna do. We'll be waiting for you to catch your Pokémon too so take your time!" The green-haired lad excitedly waved at her as she went to look for a mon to catch while he happily skipped along the route.

"First thing's first. Come on out, Bravos!" He threw the Pokéball up in the air and let his Chespin out so it could look around the area as well. The Chespin looked around in wonder too, though it's obviously feeling a little skittish seeing Trainers and other Pokémon.

"Ches?" "I was wondering what you'd wanna do, Bravos. Let's see... There are farms, ranches, wild Pokémon... It also looks like those Trainers over there are doing something fun! Then there's the woods..." Archie didn't continue to speak when he and Bravos looked at the woods' direction. They could sense something really weird about it even from where they were standing. Judging from the way the Trainers and even the Pokémon steer clear away from it, it must be one really spooky forest.

"Che-Chespin..." Bravos gulped nervously, grabbing Archie's leg as it looked at the woods then at its Trainer. They only met today but Bravos could already tell its Trainer had a knack for finding 'adventure' in the most unlikely of places.

Archie looked at his Chespin and gave it a reassuring smile and pats on the head. "Don't ya worry, Bravos. I want us to be strong enough first before we go to the woods. I know we can choose not to go there, but what if there's someone trapped and couldn't get out? Maybe someone in there needs our help and as future heroes, it's our duty to face our fears and save the day."

He hunched over so he's face was at the same level as Bravos. "Whaddya say we go and train first? We can help people better if we get stronger. You with me?" He grinned brightly and presented his fist to his partner Pokémon. His Chespin was a little nervous at first but it remembered their first battle, how Archie had complete faith for it despite it being so meek and cowardly.

Bravos breathed in deeply and smiled back at its Trainer with firm resolution while bumping its paw at his fist. "Chespin, Ches!"

[Let's get trainin'!]

Regan Calhoun

@Remram

Regan caught the edge of the toppling shelf unit and was pushed back to the wall as it continued the rest of its fall. “Ow.. heavy..” she shook out her hands as her Tyrunt emerged from the mess.

“Hey, good job, Kaebe.” The aspiring Ranger reached for a ball, but saw the pokemon rouse before she could retrieve one.

“Ah-” before she could get anything else out, the Magnemite let loose on them and made a break for the door. Regan tried to chase it, calling to her pokemon to follow, but they were both just a little tingly. Regan tripped, but caught herself on the nearby wall. Though his mouth was rather numb, Kaebe still found himself able to move without stumbling. He chased after the floating metal ball, out into the hall.

Regan, for her part, looked back at the toppled shelving unit and grimaced. She’d have to come back later to put it upright again. In the meantime, she took just a brief, brief moment. With her hands and legs grounding her, she started to feel more stable. She focused on gathering her strength again before rising to her feet and bolting out the door, taking the same turn she’d seen Kaebe take. She’d have to catch up.

With the third attempt done and Dusked, Steph glanced at the steam ponderingly. Huh, she hadn't thought about that....

"Haeh, Oy steell gawt a few moah. The rayl gyme stahts naow yayh? Gawnna syve the baest faw lahst though, kayp thiies craowd on on the edge ya knaow?" In all honesty, she hadnt even checked how much of the crowd from earlier had hung around, or if any had, she was far too concentrated and focused on her opponent. She had kept track of its moveset; Hammerarm, Pyschic, Icepunch. Did that mean if his last move wasnt protect, it was a steel type move for STAB? Or was it something to counter a weakness? She could think of a few possibilities. While she mightn't know its full moveset yet though, what she did know was she had him tensed up.

She was pretty tensed up also, though that didnt stop the grin on her face from spreading as she looked between her mons. What should she try next? Her ultimate move would have to wait, so maybe she should....? It was worth a try?

"Alroigh' faellahs laets troy thiies aguyn! Thiies toime, Steve swoop on daown through the staym daecks at full spayd and troy and wottah gun hiiem strite t' the dome point blighnk! Glory, kayp aqua jaettin off the debrees t' troy and geh' at hiiem frawm a bettah uyngle! Dusk, Oy wahntcha t' use embah t' blahst off the debrees t' close the gahp and use smawg t' covah Steves appraowch fuhthah! Thaen if yah cahn, geh' close and use astoneesh!"

She didnt want to wait too long and let those clouds of steam dissipate, it was a minor advantage she aimed to use plus it was best to keep striking while the iron was hot, so she wasted no time in barking some new orders for her mons to follow. She only had one more chance before having to resort to the shitfuckery that was her last idea if this didnt work, so she didnt want to leave anything in the tank.

Was it a gamble? Yes. A huge one. And yet at the same time it was all she could think of on the fly to try to appease the giant of a Pokemon. In a way it was a rather cool Pokemon, but at the same time terrifying to face like...this. The psychic hadn't even noticed her Roggenreola pebble himself at the sight of what amounted to a major predator, and Scrapper was hiding for dear life at this point merely after seeing her and Pyrite's reactions. Had he seen the Steelix himself, perhaps the sentient garbage bag would have cried out in terror!

Indeed, much could happen and much would be decided in the new few moments as it seemingly took her offering and-

It looked at her and decided to commit this snack giver to memory.

This particular Steelix will remember you!

LIIIIIIIIIX! It roared with approval before it burrowed into another hole in the wall, leaving as quickly as it came.

The adrenaline wouldn't stop immediately, and as the energy of the initial situation began to rush out of her in the wake of not having to 'hold onto' it all anymore it was dizzying for a moment. Even as it coursed through her veins and blood vessels like nitro in a car, and her brain tried to think of a way to process it all, only one thing seemed to process in the heat of the moment. Her jaw softly dropped as well, and for a moment all was quiet until an almost alien sound erupted from her vocal chords in lieu of not finding any words to use.

"E-....E-....EEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHH-?!?!"

Her father's favorite stupid jerky brand had just saved her and her Pokemon's lives. More surprising was the fact that the Steelix seemed to....enjoy it?! It was baffling, it was stupid, it was all-around nonsensical and yet-....and yet it had happened all the same, right there before her very eyes. Even so, after clapping a free hand over her mouth to cut herself off in surprise at it all, Clarissa would sigh and finally crawl back out of where her and her Pokemon had been hiding before beginning to stretch her arms and legs somewhat.

Behind her, Scrapper would move up tentatively...of course before poking the still-standing Pyrite, seemingly snapping it out of whatever life had been flashing before his own little mind's eye there. Afterward, the Roggenrola would look back at the Trubbish silently, look back and forth for the Steelix, and then would seemingly sigh before walking over to the psychic with the Trubbish seemingly in tow behind him.

Perhaps it was good the fight-happy bunny wasn't with them due to his poisoning, otherwise he'd have potentially-

However, quickly enough a familiar little rodent rushed to her side. She would recognize the little Alolan Rattata, Rau, having followed her scent.

"Hmm?"

Didn't seem to be a wild one, but after a breif look closer at it the identity of it would become quickly clear. This was one "Rau The Rattata", as Nils had named him, who had...found her? Why had it come looking for her? Had Nils gotten her video and come to explore with her, or was he perhaps in trouble himself? She was still following the trail of the Pokemon they'd heard, though, and she couldn't just leave! But...if Nils was in trouble she couldn't just leave him either. Hmm.

But if he was looking for her, couldn't he just call her on the Rotom phone? The Professor had said these Pokemon-possessed devices would be able to work at quite a range and depth if she remembered right.

For the moment, at least, things seemed to be rather calm if naught else. Nothing like the Steelix was here anymore to menace them for a brief spell, though she could see the new tunnel it had made when it left, so perhaps it was a good moment for resting. Yes...they could use that after her little stretch, and what had just happened, indeed. Still, for his hard work finding her the psychic would try to give Rau the Rattata a gentle petting on its little head.

"If Nils is looking for me, can you lead him back here? I'd not wish for him or anyone else to get lost in these tunnels."

She was going to gamble with her guess for a the moment that Nils was looking for her for some reason. If this wasn't the case, she hoped the little Pokemon could give her some indication that the situation was different otherwise. Still, for the moment the psychic would choose a decently-sized boulder embedded near the side of the tunnel to sit on. Clarissa would then pull out her Rotom Phone and breifly begin to search for a 'danger appropriate setting' for it, if any existed, given the nature of what had just happened and the fact she was still coming down off of the high of the danger they'd just seemingly narrowly avoided there.

...Still, her father would eventually be getting both an earful for slipping in the jerky bag and get the story of a lifetime. Not that it would be a story he might appreciate given her standing in it, but rather the fact his favorite jerky seemed to be something of a snack that a wild Steelix had come to like of all things. Somehow. For some reason.
