>Also I should point out that Lucifer isn't technically unholy. As grace comes from God in that universe, as does Hell, Heaven, etc. Unholy for him would be more along the lines of Demons, but those are human souls tortured until they're stripped of their empathy.

Im thinking an ultimate deity, the only one of that dimension. 'King of kings' scenario.

Presumably. Once you go past that level you have the Tier Five as the next big group of people.

Well, lucian is the god of his home dimension, where as the christian god would have one, and another where the buddhist version of god exists, so on and so forth.

The latter is what I had understood it.

>Alright, well in that case if he is on the same level as God/The Darkness, then the Archangel Blade technically shouldn't be able to do anything, unless his vessels are weaker somehow.

His vessels are weaker, and are usually just matter compliled into a mortal form.

>Well in that case the blade would have an effect, perhaps not the burning out portion, but it would still kill the vessel. As for the original entity itself, he does need to be significantly weaker for it to do any semblance of damage.

>Oh and I know that my pfp is what Lucifer looks like while he's in the Empty, the place all types of angel and demon go upon death, but it's about as close to his canonical "true form" as I can get.

>Now that Lucifer is going to be busy off-screen for a while, I feel tempted to try and bring in another bad guy. Melkor is a strong contender, but I don't feel comfortable trying to write Tolkien's characters. The way they talk and the like are a bit beyond me prose wise.

>On the other hand I have an idea thanks to a CYOA that might serve the same spiritual corruption angle I'd like to explore. Hmm. Decisions, decisions...

Hey- uh- sorry to interrupt whatever's happening here- but could I join this rp?
It looks really fun- and I haven't done a cool rp like this in ages- even on my old roleplay sites!

Hi, thanks for your interest! Have you read the intro post to get an idea of the rules/setting?

Cool cool, any questions about it or ideas for a character?

Also, I like your PFP.

>So I've got an idea for a dark lord type character by the name of Bolgareth, because Tolkien has inspired me, with the following abilities, to be elaborated on further below:

>Now onto some clarifications. First, he'd only be around the same level as a god of a dimension. In other words the ruling power of a universe, such as the Christian god, etc, and would be able to go toe-to-toe with such in a fight on equal footing. But, of course, this doesn't make it a curbstomp. Said character with this power would still need to put in the effort, and can be beaten back or even killed if not careful when fighting beings of similar or greater power.

>Second, when it comes to the unmentioned abilities imparted by form, I'm going the Melkor route. So extreme physical power, intelligence, speed, shapechanging into other forms, etc.

>Third, those he corrupts can be purified with enough effort or power, and any demon he creates or summons can be killed--with varying amounts of effort depending on the rank and power of the demon--by holy implements or sheer physical force for the weaker ones. Like a mix of DOOM demons and Maia from the Silmarillion.

>Lastly, while he can corrupt anything weaker than him, beings on equal footing--such as Lucian I imagine--would be able to fight this off. Maybe not with ease depending on the character in question, but they've still got a fair chance. Also, any being beyond god of a whole dimension/reality level will likely be able to just ignore this corruption outright. Unless he finds a way to get on the same level anyway. Finally, while practically invulnerable to forms of damage inflicted by implements beneath his level of existence, anyone on--using him as a base once again--Lucian's level will be able to make him bleed and even kill him if he isn't careful.

>That's the character idea/powerset I'd like to go with thus far, but if it's a tad too powerful then let me know and I'll see if I can't make some tweaks. And I don't plan on sticking exactly to the CYOA that essence comes from. That was just the easiest way of conveying the character's exact capabilities.

How much of characters' backgrounds do CYOAs define?

FWIW, I don't think Tier Five sits on the same scale. They don't even all qualify as fighters.

>In this particular instance? The actual CYOA itself is literally just a mysterious merchant approaches you and offers you a bunch of potions or Essences to drink that give you the powers associated with it. As such I'm going to largely discard that and just make my own backstory up. Like at most I'm just ripping the powers for the Demon Emperor option from it because they aren't too broken comparatively, in addition to the fact that that's what it was created for, and because it gets me as close to a character like Melkor without me having to butcher Tolkien's writing.
